ChaCha - meant to reply to playpen query but didn't, sorry.
We have a more traditional one but its made of brightly coloured plastic sections, some of which have activity things on them. used it loads for Tessa but not so much this time as he was moving so early and it seemed more like a cage to him. May regret it as not only is he pulling up on everything (we still have to learn the difference between what is stable enough and what isn't which has caused a few traumas!) but he is starting to let go with one hand to reach out for toys/other surfaces. This morning DH has been fixing washing machine and Ash has been using the gap between pulled out machune and worktop to practice 'walking whilst holding on to things
Just be prepared to make playpen REALLY interesting place to be to start with.
Playpen/travel cot didn't work for a friend, baby stayed up playing most of the night as that was what he had done in it before. Londoner's children obviously much more sensible and adaptable
It may also come in useful when Z is bigger and wants some time away from the new baby - my mum used to put me in it sometimes so I could look at my books without the twins trashing them

HTH, sorry its rambling!

Diege · 20/07/2006 14:09

Hello everyone..[little weak voice]..still working away in my cell, having had a few v. v. late nights trying to get these papers done!! Honestly, would far prefer to actually sit the papers myself than mark them. Arghh!!!!
The old Diege will be back early next week when (hopefully) they are sent off!!!!!

Rodeo · 20/07/2006 16:28

Quickie as I'm supposed to be making (don't ask!) pressies for teachers!
Chacha have a lovely weekend! I've never had a playpen (but could probably have done ith one)My mum used to pen us in with an airer
Londoner, egg recipe sounds lovely, will try it soon! Joe's Concert was great but the real tearjerker was a folder they've been making up over their time there with loads of pictures and photographs with his best friend, santa, keyworker, girlfriend,(yes he's started young) on trips away...it's really lovely How did ds do on his sports day? Bella just did country dancing!
at all these babies sitting/standing in cots! I wonder if it's the heat? Add Jess's name too - found her standing in cot after morning nap today for first time!
Twinkle, you can't do a link to yahoo group with it being a private group, you need the invite. Is your inbox too full?? Sorry for poking my nose in!
Looking forward to having you back soon Diege!!
My new dishwasher came today! Keep catching myself gazing at it and stroking it! Better go, speak later x x x

ChaCha · 20/07/2006 17:43

Afternoon all,

Good to see you Diege - hope you meet your deadline with the papers. Just think of that moment when they're all finished Hurray!

Rodeo - Aww..that book sounds lovely and well done on teacher pressies! I don't know if you remember but this time last year (where did it go?) the kids at school made me a patchwork blanket (well for LO really) and each square was made by a different student, dummies, bottles, little clothes etc..something i will cherish forever, teachers will be chuffed!

Sorry Twinkle (another duh moment here!), Rodeo is quite right, as it's not a public group the link wouldn't work (duh duh) Sorry 'bout that - any other email address you can give me? And could Tessasmum maybe try as well?

Tessasmum - Thanks for the playpen feedback. at Ash's new antics - he's really getting around, how does Tessa found all this new movement - does she watch in delight or not really notice?

Nothing much achieved here again today, i'm feeling sickkkkkkk and trying very hard not to get kicked in the stomach by tonka legs at every nappy change and nap time. We will cook some burgers on the BBQ but all i want is a home made Quorn shepherds pie..... mmmmm!

novadandypowder · 20/07/2006 17:45

took noo for a jab at drs today and she said to be prepared for her to be a late walker and not the speediest crawler but not to worry about it. She's still refusing to put any weight on her legs so no standing or anything. Looks like i better get used to carrying her around for a while longer.

ChaCha · 20/07/2006 21:14

Twinkle, you're so funny Well, at last you found the group!!!

Tessasmum - I had something to ask you hence my being here right now...oh yes, i've just remembered again. When did you start giving T goat's cheese? I have some in the fridge for DS but don't know when he's allowed it..thanks.

Horrible Horrible few hours...DS was so over tired - need i say more? Two hours later ended up standing in front of fan with him draped over my shoulder rocking away until i felt his head heavy under my chin and thought great, it's safe to be sick and visit the bathroom! Poor little guy...he actually laughs when i'm being sick - i can't help wonder if he remembers this from the womb? Do you think it's possible? I was sick right up until the day of delivery.

Thanks for listening, it's one of those 'OMG what have i done days' as opposed to the happy hormone 'life is great' ones. Grandad has the LO who has woken up again full of life out in garden, I am now officially sick of BBQ's even though it was my idea to get out of cooking!

Londoner - You're too laid back and relaxed to even worry. Bet you'll have a grand buffet sorted in the next half hour Typical kids though, LOL - had to laugh! Hope the kids have a great time. Best E loves all the excitment, mind you, bet she's in bed fast asleep with most babies of this age...doubt DS will go back to sleep again until gone 11...ho hum, must stop moaning x

Rodeo · 20/07/2006 22:22

Evening!

TWINKLE!!!! Hooray! You're pics are lovely - esp. the black and white one
Ooh Chacha, poor you. It must be horrid feeling so poorly in this heat - you have my sympathies, hope it passes soon Didn't know whether to put those pics on they're such poor quality, must get a proper digital camera! And I do remember your quilt! You'll have to get a pic of it for us
Londoner, ooh no! I'm with Chacha, bet you cobbled something lovely together!
Nova, think Noo must be considerately putting her crawling on hold to give mummy a break in these early stages. If she was crawling/walking you'd only be retrieving her every 5 seconds! They never go in the direction you'd like them to go anyway Are you managing to avoid the sickness so far?
Took Jess about an hour to get off to sleep tonight, everytime I went up to her screams I found her stood up not able to get down, or sitting with a leg firmly wedges between bars, argh! The heat doesn't help things either, she gets so sweaty! She's currently sleeping in just a nappy.
Last day of Infants and Playschool tomorrow, it's going to be sad!
Night x x x
