Uh, phew [sigh], thanks girls........for your faith..... you were right, it was fine. But when I posted that I could literally feel the hairs on my head standing on end from stress! But you were right, did some homemade burgers, pittas and chips from the freezer, salad and ice cream. Ds1 v. happy..... dh also extremely happy to come home to bbq and lots of company. And the girls loved all the company too you were right. Dd1 did lots of waitressing with drinks and charmed all the older kids. Ds2 enjoyed evening in westend with school trip to see The Lion King at the theatre... got back at 11pm! Well, got some pics of ds1 with his girlfriend tonight so might try and put those up for you tomorrow, awwwwww, so sweeeeeeet.
Will catch up more tomorrow, Twinkle, LOVE those pics, so nice to put faces to names at long last, thank you! ChaCha, hope you're all tucked up in bed by the time I write this.x

Nighty night.x

GarfieldsGirl · 21/07/2006 00:44

Those new photos are gorgeous. Twinkle, the black and white one is lovely and the 'sooo small', adorable.

ChaCha - sorry to hear your suffering with sickness again as Rodeo said, can't be nice (not that it ever is) with this heat to contend with too.

Londoner - Hooray! Well done re the bbq, kids eh?! aaahh at Kitty waitressing, I can just picture it.

Owen has a girlfriend too (well several I think!). She told her mummy (who has just had a baby) that she has a baby in her tummy and Owen put it there!!!!! Eeeek!

Last day at nursery tomorrow (or should I say today!). I think there'll be lots of tears. Owen has been there the longest of all the children, and they've been brilliant for the last 2 years, esp when DP had the accident and they've been there for me too as well as Owen.

Listen to me jabbering on about nothing in particular, just chatting. I'm wide awake, now that Sean is finally asleep. Typical! I'm ashamed to admit though that it is calpol induced sleep. Please shout at me lots. I don't think he actually needed it. He does have red marks under his nose where theres been so much of the 'snail trails' and he does have a cough, but even so not enough to warrant drugging the poor boy.

DPs starfished in the middle of the bed, so I'm going to be hanging off even when I do turn this off.

Anyway, must stop boring you all.

Take care Everyone

GG xx

ChaCha · 21/07/2006 07:12

Morning ladies,

Well done Londoner Family life at your house sounds so different to my upbringing as an only child - lots of fun there, kids must love it. Look fwd to pics.

GG - LOL at O's g/f. Hope last day for all the kiddies goes well for everyone.

Rodeo - DS is the same, in nappy most of the time which as i said earlier he tries to get out of by pulling back the sticky bits and was so sweaty yesterday it was the start of my sickness - couldn't even stomach that smell - horrible mummy. Bath time cools him down and provides him with a little entertainment, didn't have the energy last night so glad mum will be here soon.....

I am really and upset about what's going on in the Middle East right now. I hate fighting and the death of innocent civilians especially helpless, tiny children just makes me so upset. I hope it stops soon, I feel so helpless.

See you all Monday girls, we are off soon x

twinkle1 · 21/07/2006 09:47

Morning all,
glad u all like the pics
ChaCha sorry u feel so sick, make sure you keep plenty of water down.Diege are you about???
Well im off to buy some shoes for josh's christening this sun
Twinkle & Joshua

novadandypowder · 21/07/2006 10:05

Chacha - just a thought but what nappies do you use? I've started using pampers easy up pants as they don't have the velcro tabs you just pull them on. I think huggies do a similar thing.

Rodeo - no sickness yet, but that just worries me!

Londoner · 21/07/2006 11:51

Elizabeth is crawling!!!
Still in the style of a stick insect at the moment and she keeps trying to do it on her hands and feet instead of knees, but she's there....first port of call? - the mains plug socket thankfully still with dummy plugs from dd1 baby era.... bad luck Elizabeth.

GG lol at dh 'starfished' on the bed, hope you gave him a good shove.
Rodeo, GG, Diege, Layla, Tessa? - good luck with leaving emotions today.

Rodeo · 21/07/2006 13:00

Morning!
Well done Elizabeth!! Well done you too Londoner with uyour BBQ, look forward to pics, ah young love! I still can't believe my step brother's got a girlfriend - and he's 18! I still think of him as a 10 yr old
Nova, I remember how worrying those first 12 weeks can be, any twinge used to set me off worrying - and I had the no sickness worrying too. Have you got a dating scan yet?
GG LOL at Owen's little girlfriend! Hope you leaving day isn't too sad
Chacha, oh poor you, does anything help the sickness? Anti-sicky bands, ginger, preggiepops, ice, mints??? Hope you get some relief soon. Feel same way about Middle East at the moment, can't imagine being caught up in a situation like that, don't feel comfortable talking about world issues on here, but find the Isreali government v.scary
Onto happier subjects....Bella and Joe went off today armed with flowers from the garden (for 'flowers' read Buddliea, the only plant in flower in our garden at present) cards and gifts I'm going to try hard not to blub though, it's not as though they're off to the mills or war (like Layla! )
I'm sorting through old books and cd's today as a lady next door is doing a jumble sale in aid of Kashmir(?) somewhere that was hit by the big earthquake last year, and it's tomorrow so better get going. Speak later x

browniechick · 21/07/2006 13:25

Hello! Have taken the day off work today (one of the benefits of flexitime ) Thomas is at nursery - so am relaxing, coming on MN undisturbed watching JK on telly!!!! (any more goss yet Diege!?) and generally avoiding housework etc! (have done 3 loads of washing though - where does it all come from!?)

Have just been on Yahoo - gosh not only are we the nicest thread on MN - but we also must have the gorgeousist (a Brownie-ism!!) babes too They are all just beautiful!

Well, am off to surf and look for a stairgate (was given one by a friend, but seem to be missing a vital fixing bit! so think am going to have to buy one anyway!)

Will pop on again later.

Brownie

GarfieldsGirl · 21/07/2006 18:21

Hiya

I hope you made the most of your day off Brownie, not too much housework hopefully!

Well done to Elizabeth, stick insect style lol! What does she get her next sticker for Londoner? They just love wires etc don't they?!

Well there were lots of tears at nursery this afternoon. Owens teacher ran away when he walked towards her with flowers because she didn't want to cry. I can feel the back of my eyes getting hot now actually!!! Lots of cuddles, lots of promises to take him back often to see them all.
How did everybody else's last days go?

novadandypowder · 21/07/2006 19:15

Londoner - you are responsible for my first craving - eggy bread! I made some for noo and I can't stop eating it myself. Noo thoughtfully shared it with the cat who gobbled it down too.

Rodeo - I have a dating scan on monday 7th August (two wks away) when I should be about 8 wks. My Dr reckoned that if everything is present and correct at the scan I should go for my booking in appt on the same day and get the ball rolling. We'll be going back to the Portland.

Oh, and keep forgetting to mention I had all my hair cut off yesterday, it's gone from shoulder length up to my hairline at the back with a lovely long bit at the front. Went in with the intention of a trim - lol!

BEKsmum · 21/07/2006 22:32

Evening girls

Well done Elizabeth, love the stick insect line, naughty mummy. Ahh young love how sweet, well done on the BBQ too Londoner, very resourceful I'm dead impressed.

Twinkle Sam and Josh are gorgeous, for some reason I had it in my head that you only had one so was very confused for a while - take no notice I'm sure I'm a screw loose!

GG bless Owen with his flowers, and you're far too young to be a granny yet, but at least you know you'll win all the glamourous granny contests

Rodeo I'm impressed with flowers from home, you'd only get weeds from my garden. My friends were all in floods of tears today as all their lo's left nursery, the kids however did not bat an eyelid Needless to say I've been laughing at them and they reckon it will be payback time at Xmas when Ben leaves too. Can't believe all his core friends have gone up to big school leaving him at nursery, he's not going to be impressed in September.

Nova, so are we going to see you on Portland Babies on the Discovery channel this time then? Think you should seeing as it's number 2 and the others have set the precedent with magazine shoots etc Glad to hear you're not suffering too much but fully understand the no sickness worry, think this first twelve weeks is just one big worry isn't it.

Brownie glad you enjoyed your day off, and well done on the award by the way. Now that's what I call dedication or should that be I'd need to call for medication

Chacha sorry to hear you're suffering hun, hope the sikness eases off for you, don't envy you in this weather, I have been rain dancing all day so it should rain tonight.

Right it's too hot to sit here with the pc on any longer my room is registering 31 degrees, but thankfully Thomas is sleping soundly. Hope to make it through the weekend lurgy free and then we'll know that he avoided the cp, shame his mummy is a complete dunce and can't work out that 21 days would be 3 sundays from when he was in contact with it as I thought I was safe on Wednesday - someone send me a braincell will you, all donations greatly received.

Hope you all have a great weekend, think we're off to the hop farm to the War and Peace show tomorrow or Sunday as dh wants to see the tanks - don't ask I'm not. Night night all Beks

twinkle1 · 22/07/2006 09:28

morning all,
Hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend
Im about to have a packing bender. What with the christening on sun in the N/E and we are out for a meal for his mums b'day tonight also in the N/E.So we are driving straight up after kids swimming this afternoon. Arghhhh.Ok ranting over.Diege you still with us girl?? you have not been eaten by the marking monster
Right must go and express milk for tonight!!;0
Twinkle & Co.

Rodeo · 23/07/2006 10:56

Morning
Twinkle hope Christening goes well, what is Josh wearing? Hope we get some photos!
Beks - have you missed the chicken pox?? Your post made me laugh, hope you enjoyed the show! Friday wasn't too bad after all, think the build up to them leaving was worse. Bella's teacher and teaching assistants were all crying in assembly says Bella, but the kids all thought it was funny
We're heading to the country today, think we might go to Monsal (in the Peak District) now things have cooled down nicely, so better make a few sandwiches, have lovely Sunday's everyone x x x
Oh quick question, about all these standing/sitting in cots babies, is it making naptimes/bedtimes difficult, because it is here. Everytime I go up she's stood up and wailing, she used to just settle right off when she couldn't pull herself up. What a pain!

OP posts:
browniechick · 23/07/2006 12:30

Morning All! Twinkle, hope the Christening goes ok, and that you had a nice meal last night
Rodeo - enjoy your day in the country!

We had the most almighty thunderstorm here yesterday afternoon - thought something big and heavy was being dropped on the house! It did cool the air down a bit (thankfully!) and it has been raining slightly this morning - but still feels hot!

Thomas is sleeping well at the moment - specially in this heat, but he seems to be waking up earlier. Can't grumble too much though, cos he doesn't usually wake up much once he's gone to bed around 6:30pm - so can't have it all ways!

Not sure what we are going to do today - perhaps a visit to a National Trust gardent his afternoon, seeing as how it's cooled down a bit?!

Diege / Rodeo - you would have been proud of me - I went to the Next Sale yesterday (twice!) and spent a fortune! I didn't even know they were having a sale until we got to the shops! I am nearly in your shop-a-holics anonymous club!

Londoner - glad you managed to survive the BBQ fiasco - you are a trouper!
Chacha - was intrested to hear your feelings on being an only child......I too am an only child - but we always seemed to have a houseful! Of neighbourhood kids, of family, friends, cousins - it's the same at my parents now - there is always someone staying for the weekend, or dropping in for a meal. My Mum always says she is never happier than when she's got a houseful (apart froms imetimes, it's nice when they go for a bit of peace and quiet!!!!). Hopefully we will be the same chez Brownie - even if Thomas is an only one (hopefully he won't be....but who knows !) I hope to have an open house (within reason) and have people round lots.....as long as they take us as they find us though!!!!

Have good days everyone....

Brownie & Thomas

browniechick · 23/07/2006 12:31

oops, that should say sometimes!

B x

GarfieldsGirl · 23/07/2006 13:56

Hiya. Having a well deserved rest, me thinks! DP & Owen ar cleaning the kitchen, Sean fast asleep on settee, and Winnie the Pooh on telly! (lost the Sky remote!)

Twinkle - hope christening goes well, will you be posting any pics later?

ChaCha - hope you're all having a good weekend away, and you're not too sicky-icky.

Rodeo - yes, the being able to stand up does make sleeping a nightmare here. Besides buying some straps and strapping the LOs to the cot I don't know of a solution to it. Please let us know if you figure one out!

Brownie - yes, huge thunderstorms here yesterday afternoon and the previous night. Very odd sounding thunder though. Thought it was starting to rain earlier as I was putting the last thing on the line, typical, I thought, then realised it was next door spraying their hose into our garden. Grrrrrrr! And you say you hope that you'll have a houseful like your mum did. Friends of mine with older children who always have a houseful have a much better relationship with their LOs, and their LOs always go and talk to them if they have any worries, so I hope my house will be like that too.

HV round tomorow to check up on me, so DP had better do a good job in that kitchen!

novadandypowder · 23/07/2006 15:12

well, what a night we had in W10...

DH was just locking up for the night when he realised he'd left his keys in the car. He went to fetch them and came back in saying there were riot police at the end of the street. Sure enough we looked out and there were cop cars, riot police, and an ambulance. We went into the study and watched as the riot police came up past our house armed with a battering ram and guns. Moments later the cop cars blocked off the ends of our street and we heard 'police open up' followed by a door being bashed in, followed by shouts of 'get down, stay where you are, be quiet'. Then a van steamed up the road and someone was put in it. Today I couldn't resist walking past the house and it's full of special search teams....

After that we tried to go to bed but a house that backs onto our back garden was having a big party and they suddenly turned the music up. We ended up ringing the council at 1am to complain and they rocked up at 2am to shut the party down. I couldn't get to sleep though so feel thoroughly shattered today.

Hope you're all a little more rested, specially BoB and Chacha

Beksmum · 23/07/2006 21:22

Evening all

Had a great day today, dh & Ben went for a ride in a tank and were happy looking at all the army vehicles, not really my cup of tea but one does what one must Have managed to get burnt though - doh, note to self must remember to put suntan lotion on self as well as kids

Nova how exciting, not your usual saturday night I would have thought.

Twinkle hope you've had a fabulous day today and that Josh has enjoyed being the centre of attention all day. Hope you're enjoying a nice glass of wine at this moment and toasting a lovely day. Look forward to seeing some pictures soon.

Chacha hope you've had a good weekend away and that Zayn has enjoyed himself and bump has given you a break on the sickness front.

Right will have to finish this later as Thomas has now got himself into a crying frenzy. Hope you've ll had a good weekend Beks

Diege · 23/07/2006 22:57

Yeah!!!!I'm back . The last poor sod has had his paper marked, and they are piled up ready to be sent tommorrow. Have HATED the last few days, marking from 5am through to 1am, but now strangely feel I could go on for ever..

Londoner · 24/07/2006 09:40

Hi everyone,

First day of school hols, yay! Ds1 off to meet girlfriend looking gorgeous, ds2, dd1 upstairs playing marbles with dd2 looking on. Am (meant to be) preparing packed lunch for ds2 to go off to Rock School with his bass guitar and picnic for me and the girls...... still feels funny to say that as was always me & the boys.......
Was thinking about Brownie and ChaCha saying they were only children and wondering about everyone else.... I am middle of 3 girls.... think Diege said you are youngest of 3 girls?.. or did I make that up?.

Yaaaaaay, Diege you're back! Oh no about you being a week behind and not having a breather before hols.... hope you enjoy the day anyhow. Well done for finishing!
BEKs, oops, hope the sunburn is okay today.
Nova, ..... Wesssssssssssssss London....... Hope things were much quieter last night. Lol at you and Natalie and cat gorging on eggy bread.... what do you like to have on it?...... mmm, I love soft brown sugar as it melts into a caramel........ but I understand some like it savoury. My children love honey or maple syrup.
Twinkle, looking forward to pics, hope it all went
well.
ChaCha, hope you had a good break.

Hi to everyone, now must make those packed lunches.

Londoner · 24/07/2006 09:52

Yes Rodeo, don't get me started on naughty babies not sleeping in cots.......... E is also very wakeful and active in her cot!

........aren't they so cuuuuuute!

twinkle1 · 24/07/2006 11:22

morning all,
The christening was fab;) will post pics later for u all to have a look at lots of people were there 50+ and the weather was great. And Josh was a star he didnt cry all day, not once (will have to get him christened more often )
He was so funny the vicar filled the font up and picked up josh who promptly looked at him and then looked at the water as if to say "yeah thats nice but WHERE are my bath ducks!!!!!"
must go and sort out the washing etc, hope you all had a nice weekend
twinkle & Josh

browniechick · 24/07/2006 13:16

Hello - well, have had my hair coloured this morning.....feel very diegeish!! Have had 3 tones of blondes put in (I think!) and also had a slight trim (my hair might get used to this being cut on a regular basis, rather than the twice a year max as was!!!!) Luckily my hairdresser is fab, and is mobile, so have it done at home - Thomas watched on in wonder at what was going on! And is now asleep having had his dinner early

Londoner - yes I am an only child - never bothered me in the slightest, although I know others who feel they missed out on "something". I always describe my childhood/upbringing as always having everything I needed, but not everything I wanted. Like I said, always had a houseful, and had lots of cousins etc, that I am now very close to - so all in all, I am not affected by my only child status.

Eggy Bread - yum yum!! Always reminds me of Guide Camp! I love it. Liked mine with sugar (normal white, granulated sugar), but know people who prefer ketchup with theirs!

Have now been inspired to see if T likes Eggy Bread - and also to have some myself as a snackette this week!

Well, relaxation calls whilst little man is sleeping!

Brownie
