Thanks for that mrsd, and thanks for the birthday wishes everyone . Ds2 and I had a lovely day. I made a cake in the end too and everyone said it was really good so I'm feeling very pleased with myself - actually, so pleased with myself that I took a photo of it, that's sad isn't it? .

Happy birthday to Hub's dd too .

hub2dee · 06/07/2006 11:25

OOh, lovely, no space before the exclamation mark either. Pleases my pedantic soul no end. (And bagpuss, don't think I didn't notice your question mark). LOL.

Yep, today she is 1. Had strawberries for breakfast (fave) and some baby Einstein video (which she loves).

hub2dee · 06/07/2006 21:38

I've put some photos up on the Web (8 months - 1 year).

Here .

She got lots of new books and toys to play with !

Eulalia · 06/07/2006 23:02

Good thread title.

Happy birthday baby Hub. Will have a look at your photos tomorrow, off to bed now.

Oh and Bagpuss I always take photos of the cakes I make and actually the kids like looking at the picture of them each year, counting the candles etc.

hoxtonchick · 07/07/2006 07:49

happy birthday camille .

Bagpuss30 · 07/07/2006 09:53

Your butterflies and bunting and teddybears sounds really fab ! Please post lots of photos off all your decorations and different pretty bits - everything sounds fab !

hub2dee · 08/07/2006 06:11

Bagpuss30 · 08/07/2006 08:48

LOL Hub.

Happy birthday to your dd too neena .

I was going to post a pic of my cake but it isn't nearly as good as your party sounds!

Eulalia · 08/07/2006 08:57

Happy birthday yesterday for Vin and Neena's dd. So many birthdays at this time. My ds's seems ages away yet...

Hope all the parties go well too. We've finally organised a family meal early evening in a restarant as ds's b/d falls on a Saturday. Earlier in the day we may go swimming, just the 5 of us and have a cake.

Hub - your photos are lovely. Camile is so cute - I love the delicious strawberrry/ delicious baby picture

webwoman05 · 08/07/2006 22:54

Happy Birthday to all babies who are one already! Where has the time gone! We have to wait a little longer for Harry's (18th July) which is also ds1's sports day! Lovely photos hub!

Harry finally decided to start crawling 2 weeks ago and now is into everything - he even crawled out the front door when dh was putting out the recycling the other morning!

Can't wait to hear more about all our babies 1st birthday celebrations soon and also any cool present ideas (Harry has inherited so many toys that I had saved from when ds1 was small). His favourite toys are all musical intruments! Lucky me! But need some new bright ideas!

I know I don't post that often but we seem to have lost quite a few July mums and babies along the way from this thread! Hope they are all doing well.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABIES!

WELL DONE MUMS AND DADS FOR GETTING THROUGH THE FIRST YEAR SO SUCCESSFULLY!

xxx

hub2dee · 09/07/2006 07:28

We survived ! How was yours Neena ?

I mentioned to dw the night before that there would be nothing for the older kids to do... so she legged it to toys r us and bought one of those tent / tunnel combos they crawl through, and also some satanic device called a Wiggle mat which belts out a nasty tune whilst the kids jump from spot to spot modifying the music.

The NCT crowd sat around an ELC sandpit / ballpit and all the babbas were happy and played nicely. Friends and family mingled. I think I heard one short scream all afternoon ! dd was an absolute star too, not at all phased by the (large) crowd - I think we had about 30 adults and 19 kids ! We borrowed some umbrellas for shade which were v. useful. The older ones also had a sandpit and a flipchart pad to doodle on and that seemed to keep them busy. Everyone seemd to have a lovely time and dd has a large pile of new toys, books and clothes to enjoy !

When I was panic-googling 1st year birthday parties yesterday morning, I came across a couple of pages that had some decent advice and cute ideas for activities you might like to incorporate: Here and also here (that second page also has theme ideas etc). We didn't do any, but the games sound like great fun for a smaller crowd of same-age babbas.

Glad everyone enjoyed the photo album and hope other July celebrations go well.

merryberry · 09/07/2006 20:52

Thank you all, and I am looking forward to seeing more pictures, especially of net butterflies! Happy birthday other early-July-ers, Vin says 'Gah'.

Oooh I meant to say he totally totally spooked us last week. He usually babbles and makes a fair stabs at the basics, you know, 'herroo' - 'dohshh' - 'buh' for hello, dog, bird. Then Marc said to him as he pointed, 'Red roses' and Vin said it back exactly. It was utterly freaky and I dropped the lavender I was detubbing at the time. So, so weird to get a preview of his voice, we both had the chills!

We had a textbook birthday weekend. A lovely local mums and babies party, a family plus nanny lunch and friends today. We fed Vin completely inappropriate chocolate cake until he threw up at bedtime one day and he has enough presents to open Sure Start in a neighbouring borough. I am shagged, and not in the good way.

Lovely to see the board bubbling with this season of fun And I think in my secret heart I had the best party round here for a while because I managed to get the mums proper squiffy in the afternoon. Result.

Happy birthdays our sunshine babies!

eastyorksmum · 09/07/2006 21:36

Hiya mums im Yorkie from the junies mums

I just want to wish all your lovely babies HAPPY BIRTHDAY as My baby boy was One yesterday I hope you dont mind me jumping in.

hub2dee · 10/07/2006 15:50

Hi eym ! Happy Birthday to your ds. We're at times quite a quiet thread - I know you Junies post a lot more ! Anyways, welcome anytime and here's to a great second year !

Bagpuss30 · 10/07/2006 16:36

Hey, happy birthday to your ds eym!

MB, glad Vin had a good time, ds2 didn't really like our cake much - think it was a bit rich for him really.

Hi Webwoman, nice to "see" you .

Can I ask what the bottle feeders are doing now that babies are one/nearly one? ds2 has dropped his afternoon feed now and only has half the morning one. I am trying to offer him some follow on in a bottle with non spill spout at mealtimes but a smaller amount - 5 oz. Bit annoyed as he seems to throw up cows milk otherwise he would be on that instead. Guess we will have to persevere though.

hoxtonchick · 11/07/2006 21:28

dd has decided that now she's 1 she can officially climb on anything & everything. beds, sofas, chairs, all willingly attempted . i can't take my eye off her for a second. i did so this afternoon & found her having a lovely time tearing off loo roll & stuffing it down the toilet. what fun..........

she can say daddy very well now, & applies it to everyone & everything. i am sulking that she can't say mummy yet . she called ds Ax earlier, which considering his name is Max i think is pretty good. it's a very cute age i think.

how's everyone else doing?

hub2dee · 11/07/2006 21:55

I say "clap handies" and she does.

I say "what noise do pigs make ?" and do the sound of a nice snort, and she'll do the same, but with an intake of breath which makes the sound all her own !

What else ? She will lean towards teddies etc. to offer them a kiss too (sadly won't offer me one yet, LOL) !

Sometimes says "dadda" with a bit more conviction / meaning than a pure phonetic babble...

But no crawling yet, just kind of rocking on her bum. Lots of cute arm waving and bouncing up and down though !

hub2dee · 11/07/2006 21:57

ooooh I forgot ! She says a sound a bit like 'car' but keeps repeating it... it sounds horribly like "cock". LOL. Hope it morphs into "cake" or something equally harmless.

mrsdarcy · 11/07/2006 22:25

LOL at your DD saying "cock", Hub!

DD does lovely "happy hands", is very chatty (just babble though). She is crawling everywhere, can stand up unsupported and is cruising as well. She still does her lovely thing where she leans her face to mine so our foreheads and noses touch.

I found her on DS2's bed the other day and he insisted she had climbed up there all by herself but I'm not so sure. I haven't actually seen her in the act of climbing although she is close to doing it.

Her favourite plaything is..... the boys' underpants . If she sees a pair she races over to them, grabs them and crawls off to a corner to examine them! The boys fire pants at her and she laughs like a hyena!

Warning: nauseatingly gooey moment...I was thinking today that this has been one of the happiest years I can remember. It's lovely having a baby

Totally off-topic, but the boys have been watching Dr Who and call the Cyberman "Cidermen". DH and I now say "Zoiderrrrmen" which amuses us. No, we don't get out much.

hoxtonchick · 12/07/2006 08:26

lol mrsd (we don't get out much either!). ds insists that darth vader is in fact darK vader, & they fight with light savers. i can't be bothered to argue any more....
