hc, dd would agree with him here actually..... (she also walked through M&S on Saturday with her arm outstretched shouting "exterminate! exterminate!")

ds2 loved to do that touching heads and noses thing too mrsd, until he developed it into a game of headbutting mummy . He has also added "night, night" to his repertoire whilst waving at dh and is cruising round the furniture quite well but shows no signs of walking yet. He doesn't do kisses but can put his arms round my neck and say "aaaahhhhhh" . Can't climb at all but is having a good go with his shape sorter toys, think that's about it really.

hoxtonchick · 12/07/2006 21:50

ds & dd had their first light sabre fight tonight. where's the proud emoticon ?!

Bagpuss30 · 13/07/2006 16:37

HC .

Eulalia · 14/07/2006 08:22

Some funny stories here.

Can hardly believe that ds has been crawling for 4 months now, he has also started a slight bottom shuffle to his repertoire. Great fun at the beach yesterday keeping him from crawling into the sea.

Oh and he's a terrible hair puller and the other kids often get caught out with this.

Apart from it being very tiring I am finding this a lovely time too - especially seeing my older son playing with ds2 as he never did this with dd.

mrsdarcy · 14/07/2006 23:08

I've been feeling really emotional today, thinking "this time last year..."...I was a hour away from giving birth to DD. I just can't believe how quickly it has gone, and that she is almost 1.

(I have really bad PMT which is probably the main reason I am so emotional!)

'Twas a hard time for you, mrsd. Thank goodness the little mite is doing so fabulously well !

I thought back too about the events leading up to dd's birth, and her stay in NICU etc. It wasn't an easy time.... I still play a bit of 'what if' re: the IUGR not being caught as promptly - really through our very aggressive work on pushing for scans, bringing paperwork to different people's attention etc. etc.

ANYWAY - They are in our arms and in their beds now sleeping peacefully and aren't they great !!! (Still sorry we didn't quite meetup a few months back !)

Bagpuss30 · 15/07/2006 09:28

Hello everyone. Thought I would just drop in and wish all those babies happy birthday! SOunds like you are doing well. Violets birthday next week. Cant believe it nearly here already. We are all doing well. My PND is now under control. Now I am coming out the other side I cant believe how bonkers I went! ITs been a tough year, and perhaps the saddest bit for me is that there is a period of it of which I barely have any recollection. But we got through it. Violet and other 2 seem to have survived, although dd1 takes great pleasure in laughing at her "crazy mum" . We have 2 weeks holiday in August which I really plan to just chill and concentrate on kids and try and make up for some of the lost time.

Take care x

mrsdarcy · 17/07/2006 20:28

Hello Pinkmama . It sounds like a very difficult year for you, thank goodness things are improving. Hope Violet's birthday is a good landmark date to set you up for a bright new year.

Glad you're feeling better pinky. Hope the hols really help recharge the battery and allow some chill-out time !

Eulalia · 18/07/2006 08:43

Hello Pinkmama - hope you do have a lovely holiday and feel much better. What are you doing for Violet's birthday?

Well my biggest ds will be 7 tomorrow!!!

Here's a recent pic of him - and I know he needs a hair cut!

He's having a quiet birthday - going to the open air pool, cake in the evening with dh and then his party on Saturday.

Bagpuss30 · 18/07/2006 09:48

Hello Pinkmama . Nice to see you again. I'm glad things are looking brighter for you and that you enjoy your holiday.

Happy Birthday to your ds1 Eulalia .

I can't wait for the holidays to start properly. dd finished nursery yesterday with a big sports day and picnic. It was much better than last year's as I was able to run with her in the races instead of wobbling around like a big jelly (ds2 was a week old at last year's ).

hoxtonchick · 18/07/2006 10:23

hi pinky . i have v's card all ready to post! very happy to see you back here.

dd is doing that cute balancing/surfing thing. very pleased with herself. and throwing whole loo rolls down the loo. huh.

i am feeling rough today so told ds he could cbeebies on for longer than normal. he couldn't believe it!

merryberry · 20/07/2006 12:17

Hope you are better HC. HAPPY BIRTHDAYS BABIES! And great to see you PM, again.

DS got signed off from NICU follow up this am. IThough he is palpably fine I still set of on the bus 1.5 hours ahead of his appt, combo of nerves and the sense to avoid rush hour buses in this humidity. He's made it to 50th centile in weight from always being a wee one, to a whopping 2.5ft tall already. Dad is 6ft3 and my uncles are all taller than that, so maybe he is gong for the beany side of the family? As long as he doesn't get my backside...

Talking of which, that has shrunk a bit. I've lost 1st5lb in 7 weeks which of course includes birthday cake and alcohol ++. My word I was a bloated woman.

Am aiming for 3-4 stone off in a year as a pre-conception health boost. Wish me luck, am so relieved it's working now the thyroxine is stable. Anyone else planning more as their babies turn one?

I hope you have enjoyed this garlic scented post - my fingers pong from making baby garlic pasta. Off to find some lemon to clean up with. Much love to all, xx

hoxtonchick · 20/07/2006 14:16

not better enough to go to work today mb . so am having rather a peaceful day as both children are at nursery. though i do have to stay fairly close to the loo.....

well done on the weight loss. i need to lose a good few kilos & will really put my mind to it when i stop bf. not yet then.....

mrsdarcy · 20/07/2006 14:21

Are you feeling better hc?
Great news mb and congrats on the shrinking backside.

We're not exactly thinking about or planning another one, but neither are we being as careful as people who are committed to avoiding a pregnancy . As you can tell, DH and I have a very mature approach to such matters and believe in full and frank communication - not!

I must say that it is extremely nice not to be pregnant in this heat. There are a few knackered puffballs on the school run and they are an effective anti-advertisement.

What is your plan MB? You sound more organised about it than I am. I wonder how DaF is doing, hope she's not finding the heat too uncomfortable.

OP posts:
hoxtonchick · 20/07/2006 14:24

i don't feel bad mrsd, i've just got hideous diarrehea. sorry, tmi. but will maybe hasten weight loss.

exciting hearing about potential babies. we are fairly committed to not having any more (i have a coil which can stay in for another 7 years ). if i didn't have diabetes i would probably think about it, but pg is just too stressful for me. and therefore everyone else! still, i'm only 31, so can justifiably change my mind in 5 years time....

Bagpuss30 · 20/07/2006 16:34

I want more babies, dh doesn't so I guess we aren't having any more

How are all the babies coping in this heat? ds2 won't go in his cot at all without screaming (to be fair his room has the airing cupboard in it and is unbearably hot) so he spent last night asleep in the travel cot in the living room. We all had a much better night's sleep as a result. I am chuffed as his great thirst means that he has decided that he will drink milk out of a non-spill cup instead of a bottle, so that's another thing off my list of worries.

mrsdarcy · 20/07/2006 17:47

Accidents can always happen, Bagpuss! Did I tell you about my afternoon with a drawing pin muttering "swim for your lives, little swimmers"?

My friend has one child, under 1, and her DH is having a vasectomy

snort! ROFL mrsd

I hope dh isn't reading this - he'll think you are a bad influence on me
