Well, you're not alone. DD is generally OK if cuddled to sleep, which can take a wee while (whether for an AM nap or a PM nap or for PM bedtime)... she sometimes has one, sometimes two naps a day, and rarely none.

I'd like to to think it was teeth too, but a lot fo it is just a sleep association (especially with my dw) of being cuddled to sleep. She'll sometimes wake up at 3ish /5ish in the AM and it's easier to bringher to our bed than to try and re-settle her. Once she's in our bed she sits up, flops over (still seated ISYWIM) and falls asleep again... then moments / minutes later sits up, moves a bit, flops down in another position (sometimes on our heads etc.) and flops over.

hi all.......

update now i have seen the thread in active convos! tend to stick around chat and pregnancy & birth ,so here goes

babylulu - only 7 teeth!

cannot walk yet! well, i think she can, when she wants to..first steps taken on bonfire night..then a week of nothing..then more steps..and finally the last couple of days..standing up and walking unaided!

she has some lovely shoes my mum bought her , which are tres cute..but she tries to kick like a mule when i put them on her..

sleeping is fine..i have chronically lazy kids who love their beds....!!

hope you guys are all ok.....!

mrsdarcy · 24/11/2006 18:56

of the naps, Hub. DD frequently has no nap at all. She often ends up in our bed at night time - usually simply because I fall asleep whilst feeding her - but she doesn't sleep well when she's in with us.

I heard a splashy sound this morning, accompanied by crazed laughter. Following the sound into the bathroom I found DD surrounded by a mountain of loo roll, with both hands deep down the loo which was naturally (ie by virtue of nature, and also "of course, I live with 3 males") full of wee .

Walking, running, 8 teeth...

Saw the neurologist earlier this week who doesn't want to see her again for a year

Lulumama, I saw on another thread that you now have your doula wings. Congratulations! If I ever have a 4th and have to have it at LWH I will ask your advice, if that's ok

OP posts:
hub2dee · 24/11/2006 23:12

wonderful news on not seeing the neuro for so long, mrsd. That's really encouraging, and walking, running and erm, 'water sports' also most excellent. LOL.

Oh, and dd still has a fine head of curls !

lulumama · 24/11/2006 23:17

i do Mrs Darcy! am very proud of myself!! thanks for the vote of confidence xx

Eulalia · 26/11/2006 14:53

Guess what's come to visit me... my period... after just over 2 years... oh well had to happen some time.

Great news MrsD. Will catch up properly later, ds has fallen asleep on my lap.

mrsdarcy · 27/11/2006 23:16

Too bad Eulalia. It's one of the perks of being pregnant and bfeeding isn't it?

DD has Ziggy Stardust hair . DH has lovely hair, I have terrible hair and it looks like poor DD has inherited mine.

OP posts:
Bagpuss30 · 04/12/2006 21:32

Don't worry about it mrsd . Good news about the neuro.

ds2, 10 teeth now and a big old temper .

Ummm, not much news really, I guess that's why this thread is so quiet....

mrsdarcy · 05/12/2006 10:54

It's' very quiet isn't it? DD is mighty cranky today. She has a cold - a phlegmy cough, snotty nose, temp etc. She has just cut a new tooth which isn't helping. I have put her in her bad and she is bellowing furiously. She has spent most of the last days following me around, wailing and grabbing my legs.

Her new sound is "gumbah" which I like

Wonder how DaF is doing?

Eulalia · 06/12/2006 15:00

Hello. I've just had no time to get near the computer. dd has discovered CBeebies website and is on here constantly. Some of the games are quite good - educational but a lot are very noisy and annoying. I seem to have no time to msyelf at the moment and ds2 is just a nightmare climbing onto everything, empyting drawers etc... which is not helped by the other two leaving things lying around (or ds1 actually helping him to make a mess!). We've all had a cold/tonsillitus but nothing too bad. ds1 off school for just one day. Anyway hope all are well and hope this thread picks up a bit more soon!

mrsdarcy · 06/12/2006 18:04

Poor DD is still peaky with her cold, and is very very clingy and miserable. She bit me today whilst I was feeding her, and drew blood (much worse than last time), and I just can't face bfeeding her now.

Maybe this is it with bfeeding, then. She is so hysterical. She hasn't stopped screaming for (it feels like) hours. I feel really sorry for her, but on the other hand my nipple hurts where she bit it, and my nerves are worn thin from 4 days of her grizzling and grabbing onto my legs as soon as I put her down.

The boys started fighting and shouting as soon as they got in from school, and I am on the verge of running away from the lot of them

OP posts:
Eulalia · 06/12/2006 20:31

Aw Mrs D cheer up! It's hard work isn't it with 3 children? Some days I feel I hardly cope at all. Does your dd like the bath? I put my ds in the bath with dd and it seems to cheer him up. I am sure the biting is just frustration with not feeling well - she should be Ok in a day or two. At this stage she shouldn't stop suddenly as I assume you don't want her to stop but obviously don't want it to hurt either!

Hope things get better soon.

DiamondsAreForever · 07/12/2006 15:48

Hi everyone! Sorry to hear about dd, MrsD- dd here has a cold too and a hacking cough and has very kindly given it to me and also now to my sister who has come to stay to help out ready for ds-to-be! Hope we all get better soon.
It's my due date today and obviously there is no movement at all- these children of mine are obviously taking after their perpetually late father! I have been to a soft play centre today, up and down slides and steps in an attempt to tame dd and to try and coax ds out... no luck so far!
I have an appointment to see a consultant tomorrow so I have to make a decision whether or not to have a cervical (or as we call it 'supermarket') sweep to try and get things moving. I really wanted this one to be as natural as possible after dd's birth but I might cave in and let them have a quick rummage around. My bump still looks very high although I can feel his head very low down- someone said I looked about 6 months pregnant this morning- not very encouraging!!!
anyway, onto dd news, apart from her cold we now have 30 words and phrases in our 'Dulcie Dictionary' (courtesy of her proud dad!)- favourites now are 'baby' (good job!), 'biscuit' and 'cheese'- quite the little gourmet! I can't believe we only have a few days left just the three of us- she's going to be a big sister- how bizarre!
hope to have good news to post next time but in the meantime hope you're all well and the North londoners have all their roofs intact! x

mrsdarcy · 07/12/2006 21:09

HOw exciting DaF . I hope you have a lovely labour and an even lovlier baby.

I've cheered up, Eulalia. What a grouch I was yesterday - sorry . I have been going totally cold turkey which is upsetting for both DD and for me, and very uncomfortable too. I am too freaked out to try feeding her, otherwise I would cut down gradually. I actually do feel as though it's the right time to stop anyway, although it is a shame for it to be under these circumstances.

DD has drunk plenty of liquid today, and eated well and is now sleeping happily so hopefully for DD the worst is over. My boobs are like footballs. I've had a hot bath and taken some paracetamol and am going to bed with a hot water bottle.

Eulalia, DD loves having a bath with the boys, althoguh she has developed the habit of grabbing DS2's willy! It reminds me of your DS2 with DD . She still loves swimming and has decided that she can do it on her own - last time she kept trying to break away from me and strike out on her own. She's quite good but not that good!

I'm very impressed with your DD's vocabulary, DaF!

OP posts:
Bagpuss30 · 08/12/2006 11:20

Ohh, good luck daf!

Glad you've cheered up mrsd. Giving up bf is hard, especially when you have been doing it this long I'm sure.

ds2 is currently colouring in in the kitchen. He really enjoys it and it keeps him quiet for ages. We had a lovely meal out in Manchester at the weekend (Olive Press again, mrsd!) and he was so good sitting and colouring in at the table and then ate a massive portion of pasta followed by an ice-cream.

I am feeling smug as I've finished my Christmas shopping and written all my cards, we just need to sort out the tree. I'm a bit worried about it with ds2 on the loose as he tends to touch everything he isn't supposed to.

Whilst we are on the subject of talking, have any of the other third babies got a number of recognisable words yet? I only ask because ds2 makes lots of noises (oh yes!) and points to things like mad but all the sounds are fairly similar which is very frustrating indeed. Just wondering if this is normal for younger sibling IYSWIM as ds1 and dd had better language at this age I'm sure.

mrsdarcy · 10/12/2006 14:23

OK, I have a question...

What do your babies like to play with? DD's main activity at the moment is clinging and wailing. Two major causes are obviously the lack of breast milk and her new teeth, but if I can get any inspiration for things that might take her mind off her woes, I'll be very grateful

She likes singing and dancing with me, and playing peekaboo, but I can't play with her all the time and I would really like to get my house ready for Christmas. Bagpuss, you mentioned that DS2 likes drawing. DD is still more likely to eat a pencil than anything else. Your DS2 is obviously very advanced. (DD still doesn't have any words by the way).

hoxtonchick · 10/12/2006 14:28

hello mrsd, well done on the not bf front. dd is still obsessed with mine .

she adores felt tips too, as rather too many of the walls in our house can testify. at the moment she's emptying the children's (plastic) crockery draw. messy but rewarding.... she also likes her bead maze. and pushing things around in her mini-buggy. oh, & climbing into anything & everything. and 'helping' me do the washing....

hoxtonchick · 10/12/2006 14:51

oh, top top toy is an elc keyboard which she loves.

Bagpuss30 · 10/12/2006 16:23

mrsd, ds2 has been obsessed with crayons and paper since he saw the other two drawing but I've only recently let him have a go. It took a while for him to realise that they didn't taste nice but I can leave him with them now in his highchair whilst I do something like cook the dinner (or Mumsnet ). I don't think he is particularly advanced although he tries to copy the way dd holds her pencil which I think is quite unusual. Other than that he plays with toy cars, shape sorters and likes picture books and big lego. His major passion is playing with dd's toy kitchen, much to her annoyance. He is mainly getting ELC happyland toys for christmas, which dd had and loved so we are adding to what we already have for him to play with. I agree with HC too, little toy buggys and soft dolls are good at this age, dd still plays with hers now (a my first Baby Annabel and elc buggy I think they are). I hope your dd is feeling less clingy and wail-y soon .

mrsdarcy · 10/12/2006 19:02

Ooh, I have got her an ELC buggy for Christmas. But nothing to put in it - I rather assumed she was too little for dolls. I haven't bought her any dolls yet as I am a bit scared of them! It's a whole new world for me! Don't you find them a bit creepy?

She's having a spell of wanting "real" toys, so today I emptied out a few bags of chestnuts and gave her some bowls, and asked her to sort them out for me .

She's actually being quite cheerful now, after lots of wailing earlier on today. I guess we just need to ride it out.

OP posts:
Bagpuss30 · 10/12/2006 19:51

Yes they are totally creepy but you need a My First Baby Annabel in your life mrsd, definitely. dd's was given to her on her 2nd Christmas (she was 16 m) by my MIL and I was really upset because I thought it was hideous, but dd does love it. They are quite good as they have a soft body and don't make any noises unlike the full sized versions. Ours has survived being thrown around quite a bit, not to mention the odd dunk in the bath so perfect for a toddler to play with. I think elc do something similar too. The key when buying is to get one that is light enough for a one year old to carry about. DD has a Baby Born and a Chou Chou (really hideous and not good if you are broody as it gurgles!) and they are both really heavy by comparison.

hoxtonchick · 10/12/2006 20:01

i have got dd this one for christmas (mostly 'cos i like the outfit . oh, & that's a quick plug for my friend's toy shop/website.

dd was given a baby chou chou when she was born. hideous. but she does love it. oh, & a big girl (3 year old) introduced her to my little pony last week & the first thing she did was kiss the wretched thing .

as well as the doll, we have got her a cuddly mermaid for christmas, a plastic tea set & some 2 piece jigsaws.

Bagpuss30 · 10/12/2006 21:09

HC, I was going to mention that one but couldn't remember it's name. That one is much cuter than the Zapf ones I think. LOL at dd kissing the My Little Pony . I have had to buy the first Barbie doll of this household this Christmas - its all downhill from here I guess. I also like Lilydolls and rather indulgently bought one for dd, but guess who plays the most with it . The makers of lilydolls also do a baby doll for littlies here look .

HC, that is a nice website your friend has, have bookmarked and am off for a proper browse now.

hoxtonchick · 10/12/2006 21:11

lily dolls are gorgeous aren't they bagpuss? that's what dd's mermaid is, didn't feel i could buy her 2 dolls at once....

website is ace, & v. quick delivery.

hoxtonchick · 10/12/2006 21:15

oh, actually the mermaid is a groovy girl. related to lily dolls perhaps?
