Play pen is essential IMO especially with dogs. We call ours the baby jail. I find it means I can safely leave a child for a few minutes, like loo or answering door. Also DD2 is a bit rough, so it means the baby can be safe on play mat or in chair. My parents looked after DD2 for a while when she was wee. They declined the offer of a play pen as they did not agree with them. After a day they were begging for one. She was crawling at the time and they had two dogs.

ValiumQueen · 17/12/2012 09:24

madame if you have DTD which I seem to recall you have, then do a test.

horseylady · 17/12/2012 09:27

Ok brill thanks!! Madame - yes test!!

Speaking of that when should periods return?!

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 17/12/2012 09:40

Oh crikey. We have DTD on a handful of occasions and have been using condoms. Surely it isn't really possible? Shit. Best get to boots - I highly doubt it but would rather not torture myself with a question mark.

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 17/12/2012 09:48

Dixie I use the avent breast shells but I know people also rate the medela ones.

TheDetective · 17/12/2012 09:50

Madame the hormones can still just about be hanging around 6wks postnatally. Might be worth a GP visit for a blood test as pee stick not entirely accurate yet.

I got a bfp when ds1 was 5 weeks. I wasn't up the duff though!

glendathegoodwitch · 17/12/2012 09:54

horsey I have a travel cot which I use as a play pen - I put Dottie in it for her naps, or while I pop to the loo or make a brew - our choccie lab is fine with Dots but I won't take the chance leaving her in car seat or bouncer do it's a must have!!!

madame fingers crossed for you xx

Me and dh finally got round to dtd last night (would have happened sooner if it wasn't for him working or him snoring while I settle Dottie lol) which was lovely and fine but went to the loo after and there was fresh blood?? I stopped bleeding a couple of weeks ago so wondering why???

Me and Dottie are having a nice chilled day before the ensuing madness of nativity plays, shopping deliveries, trips to lakeside and general panic starts!!!

Nervous my little one is going backwards in the sleep department too.

FatimaLovesBread · 17/12/2012 10:52

Need to catch up with the thread. Been a busy weekend.

Meredith is struggling with trapped wind, halfway through feeds she curls up and groans. She's also grunting and groaning a lot while sleeping. Burping soothes her until there's more wind. She looks like she's really in pain and struggling Sad

Got the health visitor coming at 11. For the last two days I've had pain at the top of my pelvis/kidney area then the same place in my abdomen and below my hip at the top of my leg. Is it worth mentioning it? DH says to but I've been putting it down to muscle pain from feeding positions etc Confused I suppose it could be from the birth as I'm still suffering a bit with my coccyx and sacrum

Think we'll have a lazy day today. Although the house is a shit hole and is annoying me but then I don't have the time to do it. Need to get Christmas cards written too but I have a feeling madam is going to be clingy today

horseylady · 17/12/2012 11:49

It's normal for babies to have sleepy days? Ds has literally just eaten and slept for the last 12 hours. He's not eaten huge amounts compared to the last week, but then he's been eating a lot more than he 'should' according to the calculator thing? He's not got a temperature, he's just sleeping? Which considering hes hardly been sleeping and takes a lot of settling normally is a bit odd? He has been awake, just not for long.

Or are we just coming out the other side of the 6/8 week growth spurt and he's finally settling down?!

georgee · 17/12/2012 11:50

Hi all, only just getting the chance to post, have been reading everything though! Thinking of you and your little ones tits and pass.

Thinking of you sweetpea. Hope things improve - sounds like your OH has a bit of an ego issue (ie needs to bolster his at your expense!). I'm sorry he's been undermining you. It can become a habit and you'll have made him think by sending him a text about it, well done you.

Another one here with a toddler too - facing five days with her and the baby this week. Was dreading it but now we're into it, we're coping and will have to continue to do so. Am going to have to rely on telly though!

Bad night last night. James alert and fully awake from 1-4. Then restless from 4. Then woke up with a cold. DD has had one so it's not unexpected but I'm worried about it with him being so little (not yet 3 weeks). However, getting milk down him whenever I can so he has some reserves! Have elevated head end of his moses basket too and he's napping now.

Fatima always worth mentioning anything of concern. I would! It's probably nothing but best to check.

FatimaLovesBread · 17/12/2012 11:55

Thanks Georgee. I did mention it an she said its probably just strain from positioning whilst feeding so ill keep an eye on it.

Meredith's doing well, my milk's obviously good stuff as at 3 weeks 3 days she's 9lb9oz!! She was 7lb13 when she was born then went down to 7lb8 at 3 days so she's put on just over 2lbs in 3 weeks!

It's ok, he's awake. And squawking. Normal service resumed :)

horseylady · 17/12/2012 12:52

Asleep again?!

ValiumQueen · 17/12/2012 13:02

horsey sleepy is normal during growth spurt, as it is when he grows. Do not worry. Try to enjoy.

horseylady · 17/12/2012 13:16

Oh I am!! Wrapping presents, just suddenly can move without him attached!!

sweetpea1112 · 17/12/2012 14:52

Better day today Smile Got 3 hours sleep last night and was woken by OH coming in to apologise. He is now in town shopping and me & Oscar are enjoying our first mother-son day. I haven't broken him yet and have just managed to make myself some lunch.

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 17/12/2012 15:34

Lost my rag with DD when out shopping. Didn't hit her, but came close. Feel so so ashamed & v v :(. Miss the happy, easy relationship we had before DS. Yes she could be naughty but rarely. Now she's pushing her luck & all my buttons & I'm too tired to have tolerance & patience. V unhappy mummy. Didn't even get all the sodding presents!!!! Angry

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 17/12/2012 15:35

That's good sweetpea.

DS is having a grazing and dozing day. Very nice for him. DD at nursery today so am taking advantage and pottering about at home. Fortunately was all shopped and wrapped for Xmas before DS was born. To the point where I cannot remember what some of the wrapped presents are! Oh well, more fun for everyone on the day itself.

Thanks for the reassurance detective. Am sure the dreams are due to extreme tiredness.

MadamGazelleIsMyMum · 17/12/2012 15:37

chunky we've all been there. Go easy on yourself. You didn't hit her, that's the main thing. You're probably exhausted. Have a Brew and a rest if you can.

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 17/12/2012 15:44

Thanks Madam. She's sleeping now & DS has just had a nice long feed so hopefully he'll sleep too, so I can. I just feel bad - yes she's being a bit of a pickle but its not her fault.

pikz · 17/12/2012 15:56

Chunky you are all good. Get some rest, we are all over tired. It's hard work this little baby bit.

pikz · 17/12/2012 15:58

Trying to work out what on earth to pack for 6 days away over Xmas for baby. Not sure he had enough clothes to not need to do washing. Also I am still too fat for everything so no idea what I shall wear Hmm
