Got loads of vinegar! White? Used neat? Or is there a technique I should know?!

ChunkyTurkeywiththetrimmings · 16/12/2012 17:57

Get well soon baby Tits & baby pass. Can imagine its very hard Tits - find normal 'service' difficult & guilt-inducing when I have to "choose" 1 child over another, let alone in your circs. All the best x

MissMummy1 · 16/12/2012 18:12

If you have like a water scoosher or sprayer or something like that use that to spray it over the mouldy bits.

What are thr signs of colic? Matilda is screaming constantly today. Pulling her knees up to her tummy and hiccuping alot. She's 2 weeks tomorrow so too young for gripe water. Any other solutions? What is this infacol stuff I've seen you all talking about??

ComradeJing · 16/12/2012 18:27

Wind or acid reflux MM1

Is she happier more upright?

blonderthanred · 16/12/2012 18:39

tits and pass sorry to hear how poorly your little ones are. Fingers xed they will be back to full health in no time and you can enjoy a lovely family Christmas at home.

I just went to a friend's birthday tea party and there was another baby there of 6wks. He was clearly wheezy and the mother said, oh yes, he has bronchiolitis. Great. Hopefully it was past the infectious stage but still I didn't let L anywhere near him. Think he had an eye infection too. Apart from that and people commenting how small L looked in comparison (6wk baby was 2ce his size), it was a really nice afternoon and nice to do something normal.

(Hope she isn't on here, it was a lovely baby really Wink)

Thechick · 16/12/2012 19:06

Oooh, I didn't think you could catch bronchitis, I thought it was something that developed due to another illness. Going to go and consult dr google.

ValiumQueen · 16/12/2012 19:16

Bronchiolitis is different. It is the RSV (virus) and contagious. DD2 gave it to DS. Bronchitis is what bigger people get.

ValiumQueen · 16/12/2012 19:20

That is awful blonder perhaps she had self-diagnosed. If a baby has bronchiolitis they are (often) very unwell for some time, usually 2weeks.

sweetpea1112 · 16/12/2012 20:10

MM I am no expert but Oscar had bad wind in the early days & we now use Infacol at every feed. It can be used from birth & does something clever to air bubbles to make wind easier to bring up. I think. Anyway, some people say it doesn't have any effect but we noticed a difference the first day we used it. The effect is supposed to build up every time you use it so can take a few days to make a difference.

Oscar isn't overly keen on it - he pulls a disgusted face every time - but it is easy to administer - just a few drops on the tongue.

StuntNun · 16/12/2012 20:13

I'm not convinced by the Canesten cream I've been given for thrush. The leaflet only talks about vaginal thrush and I'm not sure it's the right treatment for nipple thrush. What did other people get? J has Nystatin drops so hopefully they'll start working quickly. He's feeding okay just now so it doesn't look like he's in too much pain - hopefully it's been caught early.

Quickly checking in so I can read back.

Nothing all that interesting to report, Q is doing well she's just over 5 weeks now. Still feel disgustingly tired all day every day though :(

Hope everyone is ready for babies first Christmas! Xmas Grin

sweetpea1112 · 16/12/2012 20:30

Is it ok to feed babies formula straight from the fridge rather than heating it to room temperature? We make up the night feeds in advance (have read all guidelines and made an educated decision) and last night DF said that he fed O the bottles straight from the fridge & he liked it. Hmm Is there any issue with doing this?

DonnaDoon · 16/12/2012 20:37

Tits and pass Im so sorry your little bundles are in hospital it must be bloody awful for you all:( I am so grateful that apart from being early and slow to gain weight and the acne which is now fully gone...my dd has been very well thus far...(touch flaming wood) aaaah please dont jinx myself now.

StuntNun · 16/12/2012 20:49

That's brilliant Sweetpea it will save you a lot of time heating bottles.

Sorry to keep harping on about this thrush business but do you give the nystatin drops once or four times a day? The instructions aren't clear at all.

blonderthanred · 16/12/2012 20:51

I hope so VQ. She said her DD had passed it on to him after catching it at nursery. Maybe she was assuming it was that? Anyway I hope L didn't get any germs.

Re. winding, we've always had a problem with this as L is slow to burp. We had some success with Infacol although he then stopped pooing which may or may not have been related. So we stopped it and he restarted! The burping and wind is much improved though, I think the digestive system starts to mature after a few weeks. I use massage and different positions (over shoulder, sitting up or tiger in tree often good) and try not to force it or get stressed. It will come up eventually.

Thechick · 16/12/2012 21:02

Blonder and Valium I have never heard of bronchiolitis before. This is my second child but still do much to learn.

YellowWellies · 16/12/2012 21:03

Stunt I got daktarin cream for my nips and oral gel for J - am not sure you should have been given canesten for it Xmas Hmm

Bryzoan · 16/12/2012 21:11

Big hugs tits and pass. It is horrid when they are in hospital - and I think as a parent it is like being in suspended animation. Particularly hard when you have other kids that need you on the outside. J will get there tits... I remember when dd was in Nicu and we kept thinking we were nearly there then there would be another setback - it was almost physically painful. Hang in there though, you'll all get through it.

Mm - g has just started with colic too - v unsettled for patches of the afternoon and evening. He is also bringing up a lot of feeds. I've cut dairy and caffeine and it seems to be helping a bit, also when he is distressed but just fed and winded I let him suck my finger a bit and it helps. There is some quite good info and advice on patient.co.uk

Bryzoan · 16/12/2012 21:16

Chunky I find it so hard having to go to one or the other - dd has watched so much telly today - I worry I'm really letting her down. Is worse at the moment as she has a vicious eye infection so have to keep them apart, and also g has been grizzly and hungry and brought back lots of feeds this pm - so generally high maintenance. It will be better when I can read to dd while I am feeding I'm hoping. Feels bloody difficult at the moment.

Bryzoan · 16/12/2012 21:21

On baby's first Christmas ... Have just about finished the shopping now but no idea when I'm going to get time to write cards or wrap... Also am almost tempted not to get a tree - am having to leave dd downstairs by herself quite a bit while dealing with g at the mo - and don't see how I can make it safe without putting it or her in a cage! Would it be very Scrooge like not to bother? How are the rest of you with toddlers managing?

Belgrano · 16/12/2012 21:27

Titsalina that sounds incredibly hard. I'm thinking of you. Huge hugs your way and you ARE coping, you sound amazing actually.
Mastitis subsiding here. Not surprising as I've been prescribed an antibio that's usually given for 3 days at 250mg except in my case I've got 7 days' worth at 500mg! Bringing out the big guns...so to speak (!)
Hope you all get a good night.

Evilwater · 16/12/2012 21:30

Lots of teething here! I hate it when they scream and there is nothing I can do! He is having the bonjela on his dummy as the teething rings are to big for his mouth.

He bathed and now, sleeping hopefully. I'm off to bed now.

Evil

kirrinIsland · 16/12/2012 21:52

Hugs to pass and tits

I have hardly even thought about Christmas! I have sent some cards and I have DD1's present but nothing else, not that I have many to buy for.
I am not doing a tree this year. DD1 will destroy it and frankly i just cannot be bothered. I have got the decs out of the box but haven't got around to actually putting them up yet. If I leave it much longer it won't be worth doing!

Bryzoan · 16/12/2012 21:53

Kirrin that makes me feel better :-)

Sophiathesnowfairy · 16/12/2012 21:56

No tree here either this year, minimal cards. All pressies off amazon!
