Those having Moses basket issues, ds wouldn't sleep in his. He'd sleep in his pram so we use that!!

TheDetective · 04/12/2012 08:21

Daddy can settle Oscar easier than I can.

Oscar smells me and thinks dinner. Hmm

It's nothing personal. All the babies in work could be settled in the cot when away from mum. If you are near, that us where they want to be!

It's only natural... We are their comfort blanket!

I can't remember what happened last night. I know he fed a few times but he woke at 5, I put him on, but no idea how long he fed for, mostly because I fell asleep Blush but that boob felt the fuller this morning. So I put him back on that one! He must have only had a little snack!

I really need a wee. Hmm

kirrinIsland · 04/12/2012 08:36

horsey I had mixed results with the sucker things. It's being quite good now that DD is over the worst, but to start with the snot was too high up for the sucker to work. I think they are worth a try though. Have you tried saline drops?

ValiumQueen · 04/12/2012 08:39

Horsey you can always refuse a weight. It is your baby. Might be best to get him checked.

Crap night here. Crap morning. He is a bit better but I wish they had not discharged us.

DesperateHousewife21 · 04/12/2012 08:49

Sounds like alot of the babies have a cold :( dd has one too, v snotty at night. Ds has one too so he prob gave it to her.

The swing chair batteries have run out noooo! She sleeps in it for every nap and its the only way I can get things done. I'm sitting here manually swinging it but I think she knows the difference Hmm

horseylady · 04/12/2012 08:49

Yes used them. He was checked Friday. He's no worse. He's no better (the snot is a brighter green!!). He's bright and happy. I think he's just full of mucus and he's getting fuller because of it. Thats why i was wondering about sucking it out?! He slept from 12 to 7. He's back asleep now. Shame I woke at 3 and didn't really sleep again!! Babies are noisy!!

Vq - is he still sounding bad?

StuntNun · 04/12/2012 09:09

Horsey, green snot is a sign of infection, green nappies are usually nothing to worry about.

I just weighed J and he's up to 9 lb so he can go into sleeping bags now which will make night times a bit easier. I wonder if babies don't sleep well in their Moses baskets because the mattresses are so thin. In the cot or bed they have a nice comfy spring mattress.

OP posts:
TheDetective · 04/12/2012 09:28

I bought a thicker comfort mattress and have the sheep skin liner on til I can get to JL to return it! and it makes little difference!

YellowWellies · 04/12/2012 09:29

Horsey green poos can be a sign that they are dealing with an infection - so it could just be a side effect of his cold? I read up all about green poos when Jonas produced them for a week and I was panicking.

We had a good night DH put him down after a bottle at 1, then I fed him at 5. He had a snack at 8 and is asleep. Like a weapon I couldn't get back to sleep after the 5am feed. Damnit.

VQ I love the term 'feeding like a school of piranha' that describes J perfectly when he sees my boob and has been more than a couple of hours without a feed he growls at it and smacks his lips like a small predator....

Sophiathesnowfairy · 04/12/2012 09:30

I have just put Olly in his sleeping bag forthe first time, hoping this makes settling him in his Moses Basket at night easier. Last night was a jokio luckily I am still Xmas Smile. Is lunacy, he settles fine in his basket in the day mostly.

Anyway was a lucky day to have planned my pjama day. DH got Ds1 up and took him to nursery I didn't here a thing till the front door went! What a star. girls are at their dads.

I have just weighed myself again and seem to have sweated off another 7lbs in the last week so might dig out a pair of my post DS1 jeans, not, you understand pre preg jeans!

Xx

Sophiathesnowfairy · 04/12/2012 09:33

YW could the green poos be... Excuse the TMI the phlegm and snot that the baby has inadvertently swallowed because they can't cough it Jo properly and blow their nose etc? Xmas Confused

My 2.5 year old occasionally has greeny poos when he has a really bad cold (or it could be the kiwi and apple smoothies!

glendathegoodwitch · 04/12/2012 09:46

Hi ladies - I am soooooo impressed how often you all get to post on here - if I'm not feeding Dottie, she's asleep on me and iPad is just out of arms reach!!!

I've had a crap few days - woke up Sunday morning needing the loo, went and the worst constipation ever - was on the loo for 2 hours and 24+ hours later I'm still soooooo tender and bruised in that area, totally petrified of going to the loo again :( have bought senokot, weetabix and loads of fruit!!

I too gave Dottie a bottle of ebm within days and a dummy - she's not keen on the dummy but it keeps her quiet while I do the school run or am in town.

I've started taking fenugreek tablets so I can drop the formula feed at night time - just need to find the time to express 3 x a day to get the 5ozs she takes as well as bf for hours beforehand - how she hasn't put on her birth weight I do not know - need to take her to the weighing clinic this week :(

Hope everyone is well and clinging on to their sanity!!!

ValiumQueen · 04/12/2012 09:47

horsey he is up and down. Down at the moment and I am in bits. A mummy feels every bit of pain the baby has. I thought it would be easier with a third but they still pull on your heart strings. He is struggling to breathe, his cough is viscious, feeding is hard, wheezing dreadfully, but he was like this when they said he could go home. He is managing to cope they said. Poor little bugger.

Chunkychicken · 04/12/2012 09:51

Sophia I think it is that - the mucous doesn't get digested.

I'm thoroughly fed up with my DH. His life carries on as if nothing has happened whilst I'm sleep deprived, have a hungry baby gnawing on my nips about 15hrs a day, have a toddler asking me 'why' in response to me saying I'm going to the loo, for example, 12hrs a day and I'm meant to be grateful he has made dinner??!!! I've got a cold & feel a bit pants, but all he cares about is his damn job application. And yes, its a great job for more money, but he is going on about it ALL the time!!! He doesn't try to help with my plans or make plans to fit in with them, he just sits on his laptop working on the application. He had taken yesterday & this morning off to decorate A's room/help me out and he's done neither!!! I wish I could explain in more detail but it would be boring for you all and I haven't the time. I'm a bit Xmas Angry

PetiteRaleuse · 04/12/2012 10:28

Horsey, before each feed I squirt with saline solution. A lot of gunk will come out on its own and the stuff which is too far up should be loosened. Then I use one of these nose blowers for the rest:

www.amazon.co.uk/s?ie=UTF8&field-keywords=ProRhinel&index=baby&search-type=ss

They are pretty effective.

TheDetective · 04/12/2012 10:53

Oscar thinks my boobs are his toys this morning. Snacks r us. Hmm Just have a full feed and sleep child!

Passmethecrisps · 04/12/2012 11:38

Morning.

VQ I can't imagine how horrible it must be. I have been bad enough with P's constipation. How long is his recovery likely to be?

That sounds very irritating chunky. It sounds like it would be less annoying for him not to be there. I don't think many men really appreciate just how hard breastfeeding is.

2 hours glenda?! That is extraordinary. Your poor bottom! Is senakot ok to take when BF? I ask because I bought dulcoease when I was still trying to feed only to realise I couldn't use it. Lots and lots of kiwi fruit might help a bit.

Are green poos not pretty common with FF babies horsey? The poo chart I have says that. The mucus theory sounds sensible though.

On the poo front, we had a mega poosplosion last night so it looks like the constipation is gone. It was a proper nappy-filler and she barely twitched to shove it out. Honestly, I would never have believed how focussed on poo I have become! The other day DH and I were leaning over P cooing and cheering her on while she lay there nappyless shoving out piles of poop. At one point DH said "well, here is a story to tell her future boyfriends".

Titsalinabumsquash · 04/12/2012 11:44

Little piggy baby is up 2lbs and 3oz since birth... He's now 9'6. I think I might produce double cream rather than milk!

HV sent us to the GP about thrush only to discover they failed to register J after I dropped the paperwork in so I'm waiting for a call to see if the dr will still prescribe Confused
I really need to get around to changing surgeries.

In other news my house looks like a squat, I'm sitting looking at it wondering where to start...

blonderthanred · 04/12/2012 11:55

passme I know what you mean about the poo-obsession, I just texted DH and DMum to say L has had a small smattering of yellow in his nappy. Hoping for a poosplosion soon...

Sophiathesnowfairy · 04/12/2012 12:07

vq bet you are glad you are home. I bet you are hanging over his basket all night. Big hugs. Hope you are getting lots of RL support.

People from my church baby and toddler group have been making our meals since last Tuesday, how absolutely brilliant that has been. Every night someone turns up with a warm dish of something and a yummy pudding, I haven't had to think, shop and there is minimal washing up. I feel quite overwhelmed with it all actually.

PetiteRaleuse · 04/12/2012 12:23

When I was pregnant with DD1 amid all the congrats and predictable jokes about sleepless nights one friend told me to prepare myself for a poo obsession that I never would believe myself capable of :)

I didn't believe her. I do now.

Chunkychicken · 04/12/2012 12:34

Sounds very hard VQ. Poor little mite.

Have you tried fybogel glenda? I take 1 sachet a day to help prevent problems but you're meant to take 2 I think. You can her it from the supermarket.

That's so lovely Sophia lucky you. :)

Tits how old is your LO now? Think newborns are covered up to 28days as part of 'you', after that they have to be registered.

GTbaby · 04/12/2012 13:28

Started period yesterday Confused didn't miss them!

GF day one didn't go too well. LO slept all day! However did discover he sleeps well during day in his crib. He is in crib now which means I can chill out n watch tv, wash his bottles, write Xmas cards might leave the chores for today though Grin

Roofers are fixing roof nxt door. Bang bang bang since 9am. Not impressed.

Also any recommendations for dummy? I just used the TT one because it was included with steriliser. Is there anything better out there?

TheDetective · 04/12/2012 13:30

Tits I rang my surgery yesterday to find out how to register him. They said oh we've been trying to contact you, all we need is his name...

Job done. (Took me 10 days to do though!)

Why are other surgeries making it so difficult???

horseylady · 04/12/2012 13:35

It wasn't green. I double check. It was the light via the curtain. D'oh.

He seems loads better today. Less snot loads less coughing this morning I was obviously paranoid.

His appetite is better. Have been chatting to some mums this morning and I need to let him wake properly in the morning rather than pre empting him and shoving the bottle in. Will try this approach!! I also learnt a lot about the different weaning approaches which I will forget when reach that point!! Anyway, seemingly the general consensus was I was fine leaving him all night when he didn't wake, he's eating plenty in the day and the fact he was only having 2-3oz at the middle of the night feed over the last week then the same at 7 shows he's fine. I need to stop worrying as much!!
