Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Sophiathesnowfairy · 03/12/2012 23:54

It's official my pj day is tomorrow.....

In other news the small man has just walloped down 5oz and is lying wide wake in his Moses basket snuffling around like it was nowhere near enough. It might be a case for the emergency carton as there is no way I am going to the freezing kitchen!

Passmethecrisps · 04/12/2012 00:07

Crack into that carton sophia!

Sorry your LO has been poorly kirrin. This condition sounds awful.

MissMummy1 · 04/12/2012 00:30

I've graduated!

Matilda Rose Luna McKibben born 8.22am weighing in at 8lbs13oz. 28 hour horrific labour, bs on antenatal thread. So sore but happy to be home tonight! Next one's a puppy! We're still a bit shocked as we were convinced she was a he, but are both so in love with her!! Grin

Doubt I'll be keeping up much over the next few days and weeks but will try my best. She's generally feeding quite - her latch is usually good and when she gets it she's a mini pro, but really struggling to keep her awake long enough to feed. She's still very sleepy. MW said 6 hourly feeds whilst on colostrum are fine but no longer - I'm a bit paranoid she won't be getting enough but will see how she goes over the next day or two.

TheDetective · 04/12/2012 01:12

It took me 3 days to be able to post anything coherent! Just enjoy her, they aren't little for long :(

The diamorph will make her sleepy, but she will start waking. Offer her the breast regularly, skin to skin, talk to her, tickle her feet, change her nappy if she falls asleep at breast! I'd try her every 2 hours, hourly if you can manage it. She will get the idea soon, and will start waking herself! Just get what you can in!

Dixiebell · 04/12/2012 01:30

Thanks for the journal link caped, it was me asking. Want something for Grandma's memories.

I've had a 20 min sleep tonight so far...success!! Hmm My milk has just come in so hoping Teddy might start getting a bit satisfied and doing some actual sleeping between feeds but at the mo he just wakes as soon as he goes into his basket and snuffles/cries for another feed. DH has decided to sleep in the study again after one night back in with us, as he can't do much and needs energy to entertain ds1 and cook/tidy/bring me tea & cake all day!

Evilwater · 04/12/2012 02:13

vq -I'm glad all is on its way up.
petie- things to help with colic are tummy massages, cycling the legs, and trying loads of different winding positions. If you go to the infacol website they have loads of info and videos.

Baby's evils day was interesting, we went to the chatterbox session and it was marvellous. Baby evil saw other babies, he liked looking at the girl that was there Grin they had lots of sensory things and books. I loved talking to the other mums, and the staff were really helpful. Looking at other babies, baby evil has alot of growing to do!
I asked the staff about me restarting breast feeding, I told them what had happened and they said if are both happy using the bottle then perhaps we should stay with it. I'm so glad they said that, DP was BU. I feel happier now carring on with the bottle.

Jabs, I was more scared then baby evil was! Blush he screamed a bit afterwards, but was fine till 1730 when he looked a bit hot. Checked his temp and it was 37.5. After an hour his temp went down.
He is wide awake now.
Evil

ValiumQueen · 04/12/2012 02:23

Gosh kirrin that bronchiolitis is a bastard! Glad she is doing better x

Congratulations MM I believe I said you were gonna have a girl. Lovely name.

Well, J slept for 10 minutes, then got progressively worse. Eventually got him to settle in our bed on his side and he slept for two hours. Woke up screaming like a banshee which is encouraging, ate like a school of piranha and now sounds dreadful again. I am encouraged though and will try him in cot again shortly.

Dixiebell · 04/12/2012 02:30

Perma-feeding baby + sore bits is not a good combo, is it?

Teddy just needed nappy change. Trying to get it done without disturbing ds1 is challenging. Just settled down for yet more feeding and he's done another poo. Poo.

Dixiebell · 04/12/2012 02:32

Plus I need a wee and a drink.

TheDetective · 04/12/2012 02:44

Dixie, that is my life at the mo! Trying to feed, writhing in pain as need to change position. I need a wee. I need a poo. I need pain killers. I need to change pads. Baby pood, them again mid feed and again at end. By the time one feed has finished you have been through 3 nappy changes because you don't like to leave it til the end in case they finally fall asleep thank god and you have to disturb them or pretend you didn't hear that wet fart.

I olive oiled Oscar and left him wrapped in a towel and covered in blankets after his last feed. Dressed him when we came to bed and with in 15 mins he had wet the front of it! No idea how... It was his brand new I love Daddy babygrow. I note his I love mummy babygrow got 24 hours wear yesterday... Favouritism?! Already Wink.

Jeez. He just pooed. Again. Arghhhh!!!

Dixiebell · 04/12/2012 02:57

Think mine has too detective. Wonder how many changes DH will pretend to sleep through before he gets up to help?!

I'm fantasising about a cuppa and a double Twix now too...

TheDetective · 04/12/2012 03:08

I just kick DP awake. Usually takes 3 attempts! I've been doing the hour or more- long feeds. The very least he can do at night is the nappy changes! I'm ignoring the last one anyway as he is finally asleep.

It was probably a fart...

Chunkychicken · 04/12/2012 03:34

Had baby permanently on boob this evening, but thankfully DH was staying up to get a job app done, so I came to bed. Had nearly 2hrs sleep before a feed!!

Dixie & detective I thought I was the only one that had a constant poo-er!! He keeps getting nappy rash, despite getting changed every time we can, because, I think, he does stealth poos in his sleep. I know what you mean about the sleep/nappy change dilemma too!!!

I am finding the constant feeding tough at the mo but not sure what I could do about it. Even if we went to ffing, I would be doing all the feeds (DH just doesn't wake up!!) with extra washing up & prep, so there's no point, but I'm finding it very hard at the mo. Plus. A has bad wind that just doesn't shift - he does proper big boy burps but still moans & fidgets after.

Have the tongue tie clinic on Friday, so fingers crossed that helps improve some of the issues. If nothing else, my nips will be grateful!!!

NervousAt20 · 04/12/2012 03:38

Wow ladies you sure can talk Xmas Grin I've been offline for a few days and it was just impossible to catch up I'm sure I've missed lots so congratulations if we have any more graduates, hope all mummies and babies are doing well

Anyone find it so frustrating when they can't sleep in the night even though their shattered Xmas Angry attempting transfer and sleep for myself
I hate middle of the night expressing

Dixiebell · 04/12/2012 04:01

DH is in the other room and I'm doing changes in here detective, so he prob can't tell what's a nappy change cry and what's a I have a cruel mummy who keeps putting me in my Moses basket cry. I told him just to get sleep tonight but really wish I could get an hour or so now. How long can you go with no sleep? I haven't had much to speak of since I went into labour on Thursday evening. That makes this the fifth night running. Gonna start hallucinating soon...

Dixiebell · 04/12/2012 04:03

missmummy, is your back pain gone now? I mean, do you think it was the baby causing it? Little tykes....

Sophiathesnowfairy · 04/12/2012 04:55

Dixie you will get there, hard as it is try to get some rest when the baby does,I know is easier sad than done but you really need to to get you through the first days.

I struggled to get O down in the Moses basket in the first week or so ( we are 3 weeks now) so I played hardball and made him sleep in there every sleep in the Dayton and generally now it is much better.

Except now Xmas Grin. Is my own fault should have awakened him properly and kept him awake longer at 10. The happened last night too. I have defo learnt the error of my was.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 04/12/2012 04:56

Obviously the error of my ways! Not was.

PetiteRaleuse · 04/12/2012 06:03

Evening of colic cancelled out by 7 hour stretch of sleep.

Some people might whine about 6 hour stretches, but to me 7 hours is sleeping through.

Now if only I had managed to sleep as well as she did, I wouldn't feel like such a train wreck this morning. As it is I woke regularly through the night.

Chunkychicken · 04/12/2012 06:27

Had 4hrs between feeds!!!! And although, to achieve it, I had to have A sleeping on my chest from about 3.15 (I slept from about 4 after admitting defeat), a bra soaked in milk, & a baby soaked in pee (first night without umpteen nappy/poo changes too), it almost makes up for the whole evening being spent sat in one spot with limpet-baby attached to a boob...

Now hoping to get a little more sleep before DD gets up.

Chunkychicken · 04/12/2012 06:28

Oh and petite Xmas Envy

Dixiebell · 04/12/2012 07:01

Just woken up and Shock seen the time!! Slept for a good couple of hours with Teddy on my chest. Nice, but If he can sleep there, why not in his basket?!

DesperateHousewife21 · 04/12/2012 07:42

Same here dixie in fact I can lay her down on our bed next to me, not even touching her and she'll sleep soundly but in her Moses basket no chance.

She's in her sleeping bag now which is alot better than constantly pulling up a blanket.

Think we we're up a fair few times, I try not to look at the clock. I just wish she wouldn't grunt and strain so much. That's what keeps me awake rather than her feeding.

Dixiebell · 04/12/2012 08:09

Ok and now DH has put him in the basket and he's been happily lying there for the last half hour! What is that all about?! Do I just smell too milky maybe?!!

horseylady · 04/12/2012 08:12

Any ideas how I can shift the mucus? Do those sucker things work?

It's affecting his appetite and while he's eating happier with the faster teats it's still not great. Also is green tinged poo a sign of dehydration? Not that I know how to get more fluid into him!!

I might take him down to the clinic this morning, but theres an accident blocking the road we need to go on where I live! Can I refuse a weighing if I take him?
