plans cancelled as there's some disaster happening at dps office Sad
i'm going to go out for a stroll to the park though...

goldenoldie..very true about anywhere too central being busy and noisy...but I don't want to go to Strada as i used to work at one of them so have had more of their food than i'd ever want..lol
so somewhere central, but not too central..hmm
how about 'the place below' in ec2?

novadandypowder · 22/04/2006 17:35

GO - she's now on the 98th Shock

We're getting some proper photos done tomorrow so should be able to post some nice ones up soon.

Jen - a bit of one of my front bottom (snigger) teeth fell off last night Shock Shock no idea why or how. Will be off to the dentist myself this week.

FWIW - I would also chase re: invites, they are the rude ones not you. I was quite shocked after my wedding at the fact that some people didn't even give us a card.

Hi everyone.

We've been up the hospital today with Sean, thought he was going to have to have an operation today, but fortunately they can wait a few weeks, but still very scary. He's going to have to have a circumcision (sp?) or something similar. When he wees, his 'wee-wee' was swelling up lots but I didn't think too much of it, just thought I'd keep an eye on it, but this morning it was huge. So took him straight to doctor, but I still wasn't too worried as he's really well otherwise, and really happy. He sent me straight to paediatrics and there was talk of operating today!!! But they decided that as he's otherwise well, and is getting wet nappies (although it is a tiny trickle) to leave him, and hope the surgeon can come to us, otherwise we've got to go to south-bloody-hampton and that is the filthiest hospital i've ever been in.

It's weird cos I don't really know how i feel. he's so well otherwise it doesn't really seem real, but its so scary that my babys got to have an operation, and under general anaesthetic too.

We went through so much when Owen was a bAby with all his hospital appts, but all his were ok, and there was never talk of ops, I thought we weren't going to get any of that worry with Sean, he's been so healthy, he didn't even get jaundice etc as a newborn. I'm so glad I've spotted it now, and can get it done and sorted, rather than him being a few years older before it being spotted but its still bloody scary.

I'm very sorry for this post alll about me, but I always feel better when i've talked about something to someone who's not going through the same as me. Thanks girls.

Hope all the other LOs are happy and healthy, and those who've been under the weather are much better today.

GG xx

BEKsmum · 22/04/2006 21:20

GG blimey what a nightmare, just what you don't need at the moment, glad they have managed to put Sean's op off for a while but you must have been gob smacked today when they talked about immediate surgery.

I'm sure it will all go well when they do have to do it, he'll be asleep and won't know anything about it, it'll just be you that's the bag of nerves Smile. I'll keep everything crossed for you that the surgeon comes to you, thinking of you all.

Nova hope you enjoy getting the photo's done, I bet she'll look gorgeous.

Right off to investigate the website for the Imperial War Museum as thinking of taking Ben there tomorrow before going to visit my grandad.

Hope you are all having a good weekend Beks

Diege · 22/04/2006 21:58

HI everyone Smile. Gosh GG what a nightmare; as you say, at least they are on top of things, and well done for being so perceptive Smile. Was it the same thing with ds1? YOu are very brave Smile. BOB: hope you enjoyed your meal out this evening; sounds like you made the best of a bad day Smile. BEKS: imperial war museum is meant to be fab; you'll have a great time Smilehow did the footie party go??; NOVA; your 'front bottom' made me laugh Grin; DH said, what are you laughing at, go on tell me'...ummm, nothing...Grin.
RODEO: have just discovered why my e-mails are being returned - my send box is full Blush; merseymail site is 'down' today though, so will have to wait. Hoping J is feeling better; Libby has been pretty good today, even taking some of her juice, and then just as I was putting her down (feeling all smug) she brought up her bottle, and carried on being sick until the juice came up too Sad. DD2 has also got tummy bug now, but I'm not allowing myself to think negatively (ie, having to take first day of work off to look after sick children!!!No!!!it won't happen!!!).Off to Wales tommorrow to see cousins and parents Smile.
Hope you'll all having good weekends Smile
Diege

Rodeo · 23/04/2006 00:45

Just a quick one before bed,

Diege, oh no! Poor Libs :( and Scarlett, sicknesss bugs are just awful, and seem to drag on forever, hopefully they might turn the corner tomorrow. When is it you're going back to work? Is it this week?! We're going to really miss you! Maybe you can sneak on at work! And you Brownie - can you sneak on at work?!

GG - Poor Sean :( Glad he doesn't feel ill though. What exactly is it? Is the skin too tight for it to pass through?

Nova, looking forward to some nice new pics of Nat - although they can't beat seeing her in the flesh :)

Tex - If you're out there, how's Rosie? Are any of the milks staying down?

Right, going to have a cuppa and some choc, just got in from work and my feet hurt!

Night all, have lovely Sundays all, Bella wants to try her bike without stabilisers tomorrow, gulp! I'l make sure there's plasters at the ready!

Karmamother · 23/04/2006 08:01

Morning all.

Well, DP's op went well & I enjoyed a good night's sleep on Wednesday night.Smile Unfortunately, he had to be re-admitted last night as he an infection so he now has to have intravenous antibiotics. The surgeon wants him to stay in till Monday morning so I get another quiet night to myself! God, thats awfully insensitive of me. Poor thing is really poorly & all I can think of is getting a good kip. I blame Ella. Blush

Rodeo, fancy you peeing on a trampoline! Oh, the indignity. Reminds me when DS was about 3 & we went to a funfair. He peed himself on a bouncy castle. You could see wet splodges all over it where he'd bounced! Speaking of slack pelvic floors, mine has cought me out a few times. If its a full bladder coupled with a really big sneeze then away it goes. I routinely sneeze with my legs firmly crossed over now.

Garfieldsgirl, yes my DS is 9. As long as he has this week's copy of the Beano, he's happy. Sorry to hear about Sean needing an op. For this type of surgery the anaesthetists often numb the willy with local anaesthetic so he should be quite comfortable when he wakes up. If you need any advice nearer the time, just ask. I work as an anaesthetic nurse & have looked after lots of babies during their ops. As he's so young he won't remember it & they always wake up bright eyed & bushytailed wanting a feed.

oops, gotta dash, Ella needing me. Will finish post later.

Diege · 23/04/2006 09:29

Morning everyone SmileWell, lovely morning here, bright and sunny, so hopefully nice for our trip to Wales Smile. Libby woke at 2 starving, and gulped down 5 ounces, so at least she's feeling hungry again Smile, though boy had I forgotten those night feeds Shock.
Getting the silent treatment from DH treatment, after shouting at him in middle of night because he overheated the bottle Blush; have apologised as totally not on of me, but I do lose it when baby is screaming at night, and no-one else quite does things to my own standards Blush.
RODEO, have been noticing how late you stay up at night (because of work?) and was just wondering how much sleep you get on average? You always seem so cheerful, like you've had a good 8 hours Grin. Oh and I most certainly WILL be able to mumsnet at work, though probably just once in day to be safe. Can always catch up in evenings though Smile., KARMA: I swear most parents would do almost anything for a good night's sleep, so I woudn't feel guilty in the least!!! Make the most of it I say Grin - and remember, he's getting a 'break' in hossie (though perhaps best not to point that out to him Grin).
Well, going to 'grovel' to DH with cup of tea, as can't stand any bad feeling Sad
Speak later,
Diege Smile

Tex111 · 23/04/2006 09:57

Hi gals, just a quick from me before jumping in the shower. DH and Toby are down checking out all the marathon madness so Rosie and I have the place to ourselves.

Rodeo, Rosie is doing much better food-wise but we all have very runny colds now. Lord, it doesn't rain without pouring! After going through two different prescription formulas we've found one that she'll take and keep down. It's amazing. She slept right through last night and is barely spitting up. We had a little setback when she had a rusk, which apparently contains cow's milk protein, but it seems to be out of her system now. I can see that I'm going to need to be more careful about ingredients.

Nova, yep the prescription formulas are where we're at right now. Looks good at the moment so fingers crossed we've finally found something suitable.

So many poorly babies. Hopefully this is the last of the winter bugs going around and then we can all have a calm, healthy spring/summer.

Diege, glad Libby's got her appetite back. Funny how it always seems to come back in the middle of the night. Must admit, I'm the same. After an illness DH knows I'm getting better when he finds me eating peanut butter & banana sandwiches at 4am. Blush Hope the cup of tea smoothed things over.

GG, how awful. I'm sure you're worried sick. Is the diagnosis a tight foreskin? Tobes had that problem but not to the point of inhibiting his wee. We just had to encourage him to play with himslef (like that was a difficult demand with a small boy!) and it eventually stretched. There was talk of circumcision at one point though. I'm sure it won't stop you worrying but circumcision is very common in the States, almost all male babies are circumcised there, and it's a very simple, quick procedure. Let us know how it's all going and all the best to Sean.

Karma, don't feel bad about valuing your sleep. I think lack of sleep is the hardest part of having babies. When you're tired everything is more difficult. Hope your DH is feeling better soon.

BoB, sorry your plans were cancelled. Did you have a nice day anyway? Wew're off to Strada in Blackheath today for lunch. Should I drop your name and see if I can wangle a discount. Wink OH, and I love the idea of your fringe. Wish I had the guts for such a change.

Beks, good to hear from you and thanks so much for the offer of help. We should definitely get the boys together sometime. How's the christening going?

SUrestart sounds interesting. I'll have to check it out. BoB, maybe you can tell me what it's like around here.

Londoner, good to see you.

And hello to everyone I've missed. Just going to try to take advantage of the peace and quiet here. If you're watching the marathon coverage and you see a sweet, though manic, little boy in a red waterproof dragging a very tired looking Daddy behind him on Blackheath, that'll my guys!

goldenoldie · 23/04/2006 10:42

BoB - the Place Below sounds good. Are they open in the evenings?

Nova - Know what you mean. We had FAMILY who came to our wedding and did not even bring a card!

GG - sorry to hear about Sean. Hope it all gets sorted soon.

Beks - I would say something like 'I know work is manic for you at the moment so I completely understand if you can't be a Godparent because you have to work that day, but don't worry about it as I can always ask X is she can do it'.

That way if she really does not want to do it she can blame it on work and not feel too guilty as she will think you have someone else in the frame for it anyway.

Karma - glad DPs op went well. My DH snoring drives me mad so I am very envious of you now.

browniechick · 23/04/2006 11:41

Morning All, just a quickie (yes please!!!!) as need to make a start on dinner! HAve parents & my Nanna comign for dinner, and have only just put chicken in oven!
GG - oh how awful, at least you spotted it early though. Fingers crossed and sending lots of hugs for you all.
Rodeo - Not sure if I;ll be ablet o post at work - it's so addictive, I will probably get the sack for not doing any work! Will have to restrict posts to the evening, god it will take me ages to catch up the rate you guys chat!!!!
Tex - glad you've found a milk that suits!

Hope all poorly little ones are feeling much better now.
Must go else we will be eating raw veggies!! With peel on!
B&T

Rodeo · 23/04/2006 12:05

Morning :)

Just having late breakfasts here - J has had her first taste of weetabix :) Ooh but I'm having bacon and eggs! Don't worry about me Diege, got up about half 10, although J did wake a few times in the night with her cough, and wouldn't feed lying down so I'm with you remembering those early feeds! Have a nice day, are you visiting family or is it just a day trip?

Tex, that's great about the milk :) Which one is it now? Was it the 'smelly' one she was refusing? I bet it's down on the thread you started so I'll see if I can find it again. Hopefully after their colds have gone you might feel half normal again! Coming out of a long dark tunnel :)

It's rainy here - looks like it's rainy in London too, just half watching the Marathon, dp told me Jade Goody turned up to run and has done no training whatsoever, the bint. Wonder how far she'll get? If it's true anyway! Are any of you Londoner's going to watch?

Have a nice dinner Brownie, ds wants chicken for our Sunday dinner too although we did have chicken last week - he'd have a chicken Sunday dinner everyday if he could, I'll have to see what they have left at Sainsbo's!

Karma - enjoy the peace while you can! Don't feel guilty, you'll probably have to be nurse when he comes home!

Hi GO :)

GarfieldsGirl · 23/04/2006 15:08

Hi everyone, thanks for all your good wishes for Sean Smile.

Tex - good news that you've found a formula that is good for Rosie, that must make you feel so much better too.

Karma - I don't blame you for wanting a few nights peaceful sleep! But bad news that DPs got an infection, hope those antibiotics do the trick and he'll be back home to get in your way in no time! Grin

I know there were a few questions from you about Sean and Owen and I can't remember who asked, but basically, the GP thought it was a tight foreskin, and maybe it was a bit low, but the urologist that we saw says that its the urethra that is very small, but he was an adult urologist, so we need to see the paed. to get a definite on what htey're going to do.

The probs we hadwith Owen were that he had to be resuscitated at birth, he had talipes (sp?) where his foot was wonky from being shoved up in between my ribs! He had a squint and also a heart murmer/ur(sp? neither looks right) but all sorted themselves out by about a year/18months.

Karma - thanks so much for your reassurance on what they do, I'm sure i'll be calling for you to reassure me a bit nearer the time Smile

Hope you're all ahving a good weekend.

Diege/Brownie - good luck back at work next week, it must seem to have gone really quickly for you.

ChaCha · 23/04/2006 21:00

GG - Don't worry about Sean. Everything will be okay :) There are many benefits in circumcision, I am going to have my little one circumsized very soon.

Karma - Sorry DP isn't well but hope you are getting some sleep.

We had 2 families stay with us this weekend (the DDs of one friend have been carrying/cuddling/squashing/dragging DS along for the duration), they've all gone home now but unfortunately I am in bed with terrible AF, sickness & diarrhoea Sad

Feeling v.sorry for myself and off for a much needed early night.

Hi to everyone and hope babies are all ok.

Karmamother · 23/04/2006 21:25

Chacha, blimey, you've got it all in one go, haven't you? Hope you managed a decent sleep.

Rodeo, I actually had to nurse him a bit today. Went to visit him & found him still wearing a bloody fleecy jumper with a high temp!! Read the riot act & told him to take it off & drink some fluids. He'd not had anything to drink all day, no wonder he felt crap. I took in some nice sarnies as the food is v. poor. Whilst I was there his evening meal arrived. Now I've had spme pretty shocking hospital food in my time but this was awful. A few cold chips & an omelette which had clearly been deep fried to warm it up. DP is 19 stone rugby-playing copper who can eat for England. No wonder people lose weight in hospital. Makes me very Angry. Sorry, I digress.

Browniechick, hope veggies were cooked!

GO, I'm afraid it's too early to say whether op has improved snoring so don't feel too jealous yet!

Texx, so does this mean Rosie is totally allergic to cow's milk & has to avoid it forever? What a nightmare. I always feel sorry for families where there is a food allergy. It's hard enough keeping them well fed without the added pressure of this. I was diagnosed with a gluten intolerence at birth & apparently my mother had an awful time keeping me within my diet. It's written in my Dr's notes.Blush

Beksmum, hope you get round your little problem of the godparent dilemma. I'm crap at that sort of stuff too. Need pictures of Ben in his tie, please!!!

Diege, glad Libby is feeling better.

Hi to everyone else. I'm on the countdown to the end of my paid mat leave so I plan to make the most of this week. Taking Ella to the swimming pool with her friends, going to a baby signing taster session & also chilling with my postnatal group. Oh, & nursing DP too. We need a better week as last week was CRAP. Bye for now.

LaylaandSethsmum · 23/04/2006 21:40

hi everyone hope you've all had good weekends!

Poor Sean GG Sad unfortunately circumcision is the only treatment for this problem ( unfortunately as in he'll have to have an op) but his recovery should be quick anyway and hopefully you'll have no more problems afterwards!!

Karma , men!!!Angry even though i'm sure he's feeling very rough they make out their the only ones ever to have had anything wrong don;t they? From my experience the big coppers are the worst!Smile

Been out for sunday lunch at friends today which was lovely really nice not to have to cook for a change!!

Sad for going back to work Diege and Brownie although i'm sure its not really what you want to hear! I would have been going back on tuesday but DH has agreed for me to have the 12 months off, its stupid but it only feels like yesterday that Seth was born! We'll have to see how the finances go though so might not quite make the full 12 months off!!

DH out again tonighr so having a noght to myself watching what i want on tele and mumsnetting without him moaning at me!!

browniechick · 23/04/2006 21:46

Hi all, yes veggies cooked, although dinner was rather late! Blush
Can't believe I go back to work on Tues! Tomorrow is my last day with little man for 4 whole days Sad At least he is going to be with my Dad for the first 2 days (as he is having him 2 days a week, Tues & Weds) so it will ease him in gently. My Dad is v good, he is coming round to ours Tues morning to collect T, i will get him up and dressed then Dad will take him back to his for the day.

Am v sad cos think I am running a training course this Thursday & Friday, so don't think I will be able to pick him up from his first day at nursery till gone 5pm - was v worried that this would be a mega long day, so my Mum has agreed to finish work early to pick him up Smile I am so lucky to have such wonderful parents. Also have fab in-laws too times 3, so am lucky all round.
Karma - Shock at the situation in hospital, the hospital where my Grandad is serves up fab food, he always raves about the meals! But I know they are not all as good, but all the same, cold chips and a reheated omlete - it's no wonder the NHS is going down the pan!
Sorry for self absorbed me post, but the reality of going back to work this week is finally starting to hit home. Guess you are feeling this too Diege? Is it Friday you go back?

B&T

twinkle1 · 23/04/2006 22:03

twinkle & josh

Rodeo · 23/04/2006 22:15

Oh my God, did you watch 24?! How bad!

Anyway......had a lovely Sunday, dd1 has got her 5m swim badge today and has learnt to ride her bike without stabilisers :)

Oh Karma - how awful. When I broke my leg I was in hosp for 4 days and lost about 10 pounds (and that was with a metal pole and swelling added) Hope he feels much better soon and hope you don't mind playing Florence Nightingale for a while longer :)

Chacha, hope you feel better tomorrow too

Brownie, it's great your parents are able to help out so much, must take some of the stress out of things :) Good luck for Tues if you don't manage to get on tomorrow!

Hi L&Smum :) we must meet up soon, how about Weds afternoon, at the Bonnie?

Just seen the back end of a report on baby growth charts on BBC news, there will surely be something about it on MN, will go and hunt it down, see what it's all about!

Night x

Diege · 23/04/2006 22:26

Evening Smile. Yes, TWINKLE, still on for Tuesday Smile; Libby is still bringing up evening feed for some reason, but pretty ok in day, though a little more grumpy than usual Sad; shouldn't effect our trip out on Tuesday though Smile. Glad Josh's little arm is bearing up!!! Fingers crossed for no chicken pox!!It's doing the rounds round here too.
BROWNIE: mmm yes, really hitting home about work now - a horrible sicky dread feeling Sad. Felt really tearful filling L's details on her little sandwich box, though I have till Friday. It's got to the point now, TBH, that I'm so sick of thinking about going back, I just want to get the first day over and done with!!!!
RODEO,NOOOO, Jade Goody, like she's even do a mile !!! Wonder if it's true? Sure Heat mag' will enkighten us on Tuesday Grin. Wales was trip to see rellies, esp. the girls' 3 cousins. Lovely sunny weather, though v.cold. They all enjoyed themselves, and I've seriously broken the SW diet!! My mum's lemon meringue pie is to DIE for Grin.
CHACHA, you poor thing, hoping it's just one of those 24 hours things?
Hi to everyone else Smile
Here's to a good week for us all Smile; well babies and stress-free, healthy mummies Smile

Londoner · 24/04/2006 10:01

HelloSmile,

Please excuse me for not catching up...
After much thought I've decided I must swap a compulsion to MN for a compulsion to gardenShock(I will not be logging on or lurking).
I wish you all a wonderful, happy and healthy 2006 and beyond. Thank you for all your excellent friendship, advice and support over the last 7 months, it's been a pleasure.

Londoner.x

Karmamother · 24/04/2006 10:06

I'll be sorry to see you go, Londoner. You always give such thoughtful & supportive advice. Please don't stay away forever. We need your chilled out posts!!!

Enjoy the garden. x

Diege · 24/04/2006 10:17

Sad LONDONER. Please reconsider? Feel like I've made a really good friend, and would be so sad never to hear from you again Sad. Maybe just the odd drop in with your news, no pressure to catch up? I'm sure I'm not the only one who's benefitted from your posts/advice etc, in terms of friendship and also some really sound advice!! I still think 'What would L do' when faced with 3 under 5s screaming at same time Grin.
Well, off to nursery now for morning try out with Libby. Hope she doesn't bring feed up!!! NOT the best first impression!
Hi KARMA too; bet you had a good night's sleep last night Smile.
Speak later,
Diege Smile

ChaCha · 24/04/2006 11:18

Morning,

Feeling better for loads of sleep :) DH has taken day off to look after us, yipeee, more sleep! Think chaos of weekend finally took it's toll!

Londoner - I don't know what to say :( I've thoroughly enjoyed every one of your posts and feel like I've gotten to know you well even though we haven't yet met in RL. As Diege said, no pressure, but pls keep posting even if just now and then. I'm going to email you later if that's ok. :(
