Shiny new thread: we forgot to discuss the title this time!

Sympathies on the flu Xiao, I've had it once and didn't surface from my pit bed for a week! We get free flu jabs at work so I get it every year!

Ouchies on the rib, Northern! Did you bash it or just leaning?

It's not a massively sharp bend Seven but it gets very slippery and its the main route out of town so lots of nobbish kids driving too fast. There's a raised flowered that starts just after the bend between the pavement and road which goes into a point at the end. It's been hit so many times that they put a bollard in front of the point now and what appears to have happened is that the car hit the bollard and flipped end over end, landing on the roof. Two blokes were walking on the pavement and the car pretty much landed on one guy whose leg went through the rear window! DP heard it happen, grabbed his shoes and ran straight out. All the kids, bar one who was still trying to climb out, legged it. DP gave chase and caught one and handed him over to the police (who were there in minutes), before helping the poor guy under the car.

It seems nobody was too seriously hurt other than broken bones. It could have been fatal and DP said the bloke he caught was clearly on something which must have been why they ran Sad

MissZombRee · 27/10/2012 23:42

Oh and our sofas are second hand from a friend's deceased Nan. They were like new when we got them but DP and Hack have managed to break both recliners play-fighting on them Hmm

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 28/10/2012 06:56

Xiao Hope the flu disappears soon.

LMF Hope you haven't got the bug.

Oi Arsonist as a profession didn't take your fancy then? Grin

Sodding AF! Now got cramps & back ache on top of feeling crappy Sad

Figgygal · 28/10/2012 07:07

Bleedin clock changes DS did a good job waking at 6.30 which of course is now 5.30 so he's now looking for his breakfast as he thinks it's 8. Dh gone off for the day it's gonna be a long day might take him to soft play later.

Nappy changes even more difficult now I have to practically restrain him to stop him flipping, crawling away so he screams and kicks and flails it's horrible I cried this morning. Definitely going for pull ups today I can't face changing him in his back anymore. Sad

OiMissus · 28/10/2012 07:21

Morning all, I stayed up last night drinking red wine and watching Kill Bill (2) (again). Yawn. DH and BOi are up having breakfast. They're taking me out today for lunch. Grin
Other than that I shall be mainly sorting my case for China. 4 days without my BOi again. Rubbish.Sad

LittleMissFlustered · 28/10/2012 09:33

I refuse to have the bug, we're locked in a war of stubborness this bug and I[hwink]

Today I shall be mostly drinking coffee and muttering about morning children people.

NorthernChinchilla · 28/10/2012 10:35

So you reached the morning without using the bucket then LMF? Fantastic, keep on fighting the b'stard thing.
Two of our sofas are proper antiques cough, inherited from DP's family- they're from the 30s and mustard yellow, though at least the original horsehair stuffing has been replaced [hconfused]! When I got my new job at the end of 2010, I knew I had about a year or so before cracking on with DCs, so used that period to buy furniture that will hopefully do us for a few decades. Sometimes I hate being so sensible....

figgy, just wanted to say I really, really know what you're going through- DS had a period of this for about four weeks and it was so surprisingly hellish. If it's any consolation, it did get better all by itself, and now he just whinges when he's put down on the mat, but is OK. Good idea re the pull ups, hope it works out.

I think I have done something to a rib, and/or the ligaments- it's still sore, and when I breath in properly it makes me wince. So weird- the top of the cot is level with my ribs, and as I was putting DS in I was just leaning over/on it and it was just agony- dropped DS the last few inches into the cot.

Glad your DP is being lovely AWCH- you are 'ill', for want of a better term, when having a mc, so you do need looking after. How is your DP taking it? Hope the scan is soon, and then you'll know where you stand and when you can crack on again.

DS had an awful night last night, kept on with his 'the cot is evil' bawling every hour or so, and would only settle being cuddled with his Dad in bed. So I got a wonderful night's sleep on my own, and poor DP is now on his third hour of recovery-lie-in...

LittleMissFlustered · 28/10/2012 12:08

Indeed, avoiding actual meals today though. Breakfast was a slice if toast and a coffee about ten minutes ago!

I m jealous of mustard coloured sofas. That's entirely my style:o

Right. Need to wedge Octoboy into his fluff and get moving before my leg does of being slept on. Apparently he's all tired out because he was up all night. I'd have some sympathy for him if I wasn't so busy trying to keep my eyes open >_

Figgygal · 28/10/2012 12:57

Dh off birding all day so took DS to local soft play had total pfbitis all these horrible germ ridden children swarming everywhere throwing, and I mean THROWING baby walkers down stairs while parents sit drinking tea and intervene with a lacklustre no!! 1 little girl flattened figgyboy giving him a cuddle fine they get over excited but she then started pulling his ears and he started crying so had to have a malt milk biscuit time out. At least it wasted a couple of hours and have discovered he likes malt milks so no more overpriced baby biscotti for us Grin

LittleMissFlustered · 28/10/2012 13:22

I never bothered with baby biscuits after Squidge (eldest). Cow biscuits, rich tea and shortbread all the way[hgrin]

Aethelfleda · 28/10/2012 14:44

Figgy, malted milk biscuits are fab: try him on fig rolls too (DS loves them!)

Went to dump today to fling a few non-passonable bits. Got a fab yellow moving trolley from Aldi on the way home in vain hope of the move working out (£19.99 folks, get em while they last!) and today will be a combi of vegging and dejunking the house/loft and tidying the garden.

Can't get out to Bond at the mo so i'm reading Casino Royale from the library!

NorthernChinchilla · 28/10/2012 15:42

Right, shopping done and unpacked, lunch made and eaten, child asleep in cot eventually, cider chilling in fridge, football on.

AWomanCalledHorse · 28/10/2012 16:08

DS had a few chomps on my Snickers Ice Cream earlier, but he preferred the taste of the custard cream (half the biccie without the cream, or is it the custard?).

I LOVE soft play places, really looking forward to having to put up with them (it will be my euro millions lottery win present to myself, a giant soft play area, no kids, or boys, allowed) Grin

LMF, oooh, I think the bug has bypassed you & come over to DH!

Northen, DH was grizzly on Friday (why he was sent home) but we're joking about it now so I think we're over the guilt bit.
Hope your rib feels better soon. x

LittleMissFlustered · 28/10/2012 17:41

Just feeding Octoboy, then he'll go to bed, and then pizza for the rest of us while we watch last night's Strictly[hgrin]

MrsDeterminedandSpecialMum · 28/10/2012 17:45

Both my girls have been bathed and are in bed already Grin time to hibernate!

LittleMissFlustered · 28/10/2012 17:45

As for the bug, it appears that o am temporarily reacting to carbs. Pasta, toast, pptato and rice have all triggered evil cramps and wind in the last week. I don't like it:(

Pizza is going to kill me, but a promise was made.

Figgygal · 28/10/2012 17:51

DS has had a 20 minute sleep in the car back from soft play and that's been it since 9.30 this morning neither of us are happy as u can imagine. Can't wait for bedtime although he'll prob just refuse to sleep like he has been all afternoon Angry

NorthernChinchilla · 28/10/2012 18:15

We've gone the other way- DS had a nap at 10ish, as per, and then went down about 2.5 hours ago and is still asleep, this from a boy who very rarely does more than 45 minutes for his naps...
Should I wake him or leave him [hconfused]?!

Aethelfleda · 28/10/2012 19:22

It's all gone quiet over here..... Time to attempt cot and hope the DDs dOn't shriek him awake.... Did you leave him northern?

(good luck with the pizza LMF!)

OP posts:
LittleMissFlustered · 28/10/2012 20:01

Slightly regretting the pizza, but it was lovely[hgrin]

Hope the girls leave the Aethelspawn to snooze:)

SpectralMissSpooky · 28/10/2012 20:03
NorthernChinchilla · 28/10/2012 20:26

We woke him at 6.30...gave him his bottle, which he drank 3/4 asleep. He then wailed when I put him in his high chair, so sacked off the idea of dinner, had him cry at me as I changed him for bed and then let him snooze on the boob for half an hour (as the chins needed a run) before putting him back.

I dread to think what time he's going to wake up and in what sort of mood.

Tomorrow is a day at work where I need to be on top form, am briefing the two top bods, one first thing and one last thing...although I really enjoy my job, I do sometimes think back to maternity leave wistfully.

When are you off to China Oi? Anyone else got an exciting week ahead?

SpectralMissSpooky · 28/10/2012 20:31

There will be painting:o

SpectralMissSpooky · 28/10/2012 20:39

Possibly no carbs though. For a few days at least.

AWomanCalledHorse · 28/10/2012 20:58

DH made me cupcakes (the first thing he's ever baked, ever, they were as good as mine..the bastard, training him for GBBO next year) & he let me lick the spoon & the bowl. [hgrin]
Going to fit a few charity shop/tip runs into the week as we should have new bedroom furniture being delivered, can't work out if we should bother painting first, pil are coming down to watch DS for the day so DH & I can go out alone.

SMS (ha! like a text), hope your bowels aren't being too dodgy & you're back on the carbs soon (carbs are good). What are you painting?

Hope everyone has a decent night/good week!
