Sorry guys - posted the 1000th message without realising Blush, so hopefully you can all find this thread!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
ipswichwitch · 28/05/2012 19:07

Oh no pebble and penguin, hope tonight is better. N also having probs settling with the teething/no poop/hot weather triad :(
On the plus side, he has eaten more solids last 2 days. Loves pitta bread so I've been putting some purée inside. Gave him a bit jam in one and he sucked all the jam out n threw the bread on the ground!!

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 28/05/2012 19:29

Smile for ips
Confused for pa

LittlePebble · 28/05/2012 19:47

PA "dal gate" I love you a little bit for that Grin

MrsHende · 28/05/2012 21:52

I'm lying on the sofa, recovering from the big furniture shake up - DH went to bed at 7.30!

We've moved everything except the cot...I got cold feet at the last minute. So, we've moved around furniture on every room except the bathroom to find a space for the cot and now I've chickened out of having her out of our room Grin! I'll pluck up the courage tomorrow, honestly.

Are any of you particularly pleased (or disappointed) with your monitor? Going to get one tomorrow for the big move.

I'm going to try and drop a couple of feeds tomorrow. My plan is to only feed L first thing in the morning and at bedtime. I'll carry on the night feeds for now too - but with my fingers crossed that moving her out of our room will help her sleep through.

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine - I can't decide whether it's a bigger pain getting her and the pram kitted up for the sun or the rain! All the suncream leaves us like a pair of greasy spots before we've even left the house - L and I are both so peely wally that factor 50 is a must. Lovely once we're out though.

PA, hope you, the dress, romper and sling are fully recovered from dal-gate! Grin Maybe some of these constipated babies could do with some of your dal! You should bottle it and sell it Wink.

ipswichwitch · 28/05/2012 21:58

We're bracing ourselves here in the witch household for a tough night. N has only just gone to sleep, with me in our bed. DP has been relegated to the spare room til 3/4am when he'll come up and relieve me! Poor N is not himself, normally settles quick when he first goes down but not today. Seems to be getting bothered by his bowels, and lack of poopage. He's quite warm despite his room being 22 degrees and he's very clingy for me, which is a def sign he's poorly :( usually DP can get him off to sleep but no joy tonight. Hope to god this lactulose starts working quick, and much as I hate to wish good weather away, he'd be happier if it werent so hot.

Hope you're all havin better nights

ipswichwitch · 28/05/2012 22:04

mrsH and pa I would buy dal by the bucketload and be first in line just to get him to poo! Hope you got all the stains out!
Bit gutted by this though, until today he was doing great in his room, and only wanting 2 night feeds (waking at 6 but can't have everything!) was thinking of kipping on his floor but my back won't take it so co-sleep it is. Will try again when he's better

MrsHende · 28/05/2012 22:18

Poor wee N Sad.

I hope the lactulose works overnight and that you get a humdinger of a nappy soon, poor boy needs it! And poor mummy and daddy too Sad.

PenguinArmy · 28/05/2012 22:23

our night is going the same way as last night :( think he has caught my cold, so I better head off.

strawberrypenguin · 28/05/2012 22:41

ips and pa hope your nights aren't too bad

mrsH we have the Tomy digital video SRV400. I love the video on it we find it really helpful to be able to see him when the monitor goes off so we can see if he's just turning or is waking and needs his dummy back, saves us from disturbing him un-necessarily. The downside to it is that it interferes with our wifi when the handheld unit is on.
If you and DH use iPhones we found an iMonitor in the apple store if we were looking to get one now we might have gone for it! £160 I think and you control it from an app and can use it even outside the house if you got out for the evening etc and wanted to check up on them! Seemed cool but I've no actual experience of it

TallyBear · 28/05/2012 22:54

Sche hang on in there - you're doing great. C loves you, no matter what. If he wants to be held a lot what about a sling?

PA Grin I hope it all came out.

Sebs been struggling with solids over the last few days. He seems to have gone off finger food a bit and proper cries after a while, even with mush. Although on Sat he ate nearly a whole jar (one of the big ones) of pasta stars with cheesy tomato sauce - loved it - and then spent the rest of the afternoon throwing it back up! I was thinking that his tummy wasn't used to that amount of solids in one go. But then again he had a runny tummy yesterday and has been very clingy so know I'm thinking more teeth. It's so complicated! Do you just keep feeding them solids through teething?

strawberrypenguin · 28/05/2012 22:58

Tally how is Seb with cheese generally? The one and only time W has had cheese so far it came back up spectacularly in a matter of minutes! I've not been brave enough to try again yet although I do need to in order to see if we have a cheese problem. Both my MIL and her father are cheese intolerant so it's a possibility for W.

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 28/05/2012 23:46

Sad lots of poorly babys on here tonight! I think the heat had a lot to do with this. I've been giving S a cold meal at lunch time (still has her cereal in the morning and usually hot dinner) as I've found she isn't keen to eat when it's warm. She has had cold pasta salad, sandwiches etc and fruit purée straight from fridge. I've been adding water to it to so I know she is getting fluids. Has been sipping well from cup but I know how I feel when its hot and I've not drunk enough so don't want her feeling the same! Her room is cool (think its at 22 just now) so she is still in gro bag with long sleeves on. Sleeping good but I find she is more sleepy through the day. Has gone from 2x 30 min naps to over an hour in the morning but still 30 mins in afternoon. We have spent so much time outside so by bedtime, she is pooped Grin
Got my big pack of reusable nappys today Smile. Can't wait to use them but I understand I need to wash them a few times first eh? Any tips please send my way Grin
mrsh I use the Motorola one, not digital but next one down. Think it was aprix £30. Im in a flat so not to fad away from her really that I needed anything fancy. Can actually hear her without but I wanted it for peace of mind. Good luck with the cog move! Did you manage up sort rooms out ok?

We are off to the beach tomorrow! Don't think it's to be as hot but looking forward to a nice walk. Haven't got out in buggy much recently so shall be fun! Re sun cream, I've not had any on S in a few days while she has just been in the garden but I've had her in the shade the whole time. Put 50 on her one day using a mist version and she was so oily and greasy, was horrible!! If we are out though she had it on.

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 28/05/2012 23:47

BlushBlush please ignore the spelling mistakes in last post. There is rather a lot BlushBlush

LittlePebble · 29/05/2012 07:33

MrsH we have the Angelcare which I love! It has a sensor pad so if they stop breathing an alarm goes off. It stopped me panicking when we moved him into his own room. Not sure how relevant it is for them now though.

FD E has been eating less and sleeping more think it is definitely the heat. I bought a beach shelter so we've had that on the beach (3 days last week Grin) and in the garden over the weekend it's brilliant.

ips and pa hope you got some sleep and DC's are feeling better this morning?

Tally E went off solids while top front teeth came through but he's munching pitta and cucumber happily again now.

I got 8 hrs sleep last night.... the first time in 2 months Grin

PenguinArmy · 29/05/2012 08:06

fuzzy even with a few pre-rinses, remember they take a few uses before their full absorbancy kicks in and when you wash them use a very little bit of washing powder, plus a an extra rinse and a pre-wash.

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 29/05/2012 08:36

penguin should I wash and dry then wash again? Or can I just do back to back wash? Machine is just finished so thinking I could just put back on again?

BB3 · 29/05/2012 10:31

Fuzz wash then dry (you can tumble dry the inners on most nappies) then wash again although tbh I hit wash mine once then put them in them when new as they're soon washed again - can't wait to get back to using them at home, has cost me a small fortune in nappies for these two weeks (not as much as formula though - where a can of it is £22 over here Angry))

Boo for all the poorly babies. hope everyone picks up soon

Will catch up properly when I'm back at the weekend just wanted to find the thread again whilst I have a rare moment of Internet access!

Xx

lookout · 29/05/2012 12:49

Feeling Sad for all the poor babies who are sick, not pooing, too hot, not sleeping enough, teething and anything else I might have missed out!

MrsH We have the BT one that comes highly recommended on MN in the reviews section. Got it 2nd hand from ebay for about £40 iirc and it is brilliant. We can go down to the end of the garden and still hear him, which is really useful. Has all sorts of functions on it that we don't really use but it's coverage is so good, that's what impresses me most. And we are a couple of grease spots All Day Every Day - eczema cream on 4 times a day Sad It's very challengin to remaion positive about it, but it's only mild, so I thank goodness for small mercies! Just a pita to put cream on constantly

E hasn't been eating much at lunch either. He seems to eat more outside in just his nappy in the evenings, no idea why! Has just turned done eggy bread, cucumber and nectarine though he did have a go at all three.

We've not tried cheese yet cos of the possible dairy allergy. We're waiting til 9 months to give him a chance to get a bit bigger before trying it on him directly.

ips Have you had poo yet????

PA how was your night?

Oh, and we have a tooth Grin at last!

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 29/05/2012 15:03

bb3 glad to see you back. Enjoy last few days of your holiday!! Shock at price of formula!!!
I washed nappies twice and now up to dry Smile. I only have one waterproof cover though so will need to try get another.

We are down at beach about an hour away from home and weather is the complete opposite! We left and it was cloudy and not very warm but it's lovely and hot now! S has been paddling in water and digging feet in sand. We did all have babies at wrong time of year, maternity started as summer ended and back to work as it starts!!
Hope everyone's having good day Smile

CheshireDing · 29/05/2012 19:39

How are the runny poos and sore bums? Hope they are a little better now.

Mama I was packing the cars as I went to a trade fair this weekend to tout my wares.

Was VERY hard work packing two cars, sleeping over with a baby whilst it's roasting in a pub and an American country folk band play in the bar downstairs (they were good tbf), unpacking two cars, reversing in to the neighbours car (by accident), breaking the gazebo. I could go no but am too tired and am already in my pj's.

Have you recovered from the big move now MrsH Grin We have the Tomy Digital with a dome light in different colours and the sensor pad, you can attach more sensor pads as they move more around the cot too. Also we liked the monitor because you can talk in to it so in a 3 storey house gives us time to get up the stairs whilst shushing her through it. As Strawberry said though the monitor screens where you can see them I think are really good for now because they might be crying and go back to sleep or have a leg stuck etc and least you could see what the problem is and whether you need to go in to them or not, so I wish we had the screen bit too but it was a lot more expensive.

Strawberry I better not tell DH about THAT monitor he LOVES apple products!!

Wow for the 8 hours sleep Pebble Envy P is letting me have about 3 hours, then she has a good sleep when the birds get up :(

Yay for tooth Lookout

LittlePebble · 29/05/2012 20:06

What wares where you touting Cheshire?! Wink

ipswichwitch · 29/05/2012 20:52

Grin @ lookout I read that as have you had a poo yet? For a minute there I thought you were asking about me!!! Been a long day.,,,
Nope, no sign of poopage yet. N settling a bit better tonight so far, think the heat really got to him yesterday. How's everyone else getting on?

You're right there fuzzy we totally mistimed it! We were at the beach too, although we're lucky enough to only be about 20mins away. Enjoyed ice cream and N was totally fascinated by the seagulls that came after DPs cornet!!!

Penelope1980 · 29/05/2012 21:01

Envy at those of you going to the beach. It was so cold here last night, we kept the heat pump on all night. Guess it serves me right for bragging when the rest of you were in the middle of winter ... Grin

Now to brave the cold and head to work ...

Don't think little Bea is doing very well. Haven't caught up with thread but Simone has posted in chat Sad

TallyBear · 29/05/2012 22:23

Oh no, poor Bea.

Strawberry Seb has had cheese before and not had a problem. He will only eat pasta with cheese on.

Envy at those going to the beach.
