Simone?! Someone Blush

Engelsmeisje · 30/05/2012 09:08

Poor Bea. Will look for thread now.

Even though it's cooled down here M is still having trouble going to bed. Screaming his head off, so we have to bring him back down, calm him down, before trying again. Guess this is what you call sleep regression! Shouldn't complain, but have been used to having the evnings to ourselves, and his bedtime is getting pushed back further and further. mangaed to get a thin cotton sleeping bag yesterday from a colleague so he's not rolling around in his cot quite so much (though he was still on his stomach and the wrong way round when I went in this morning!).

Envy at those near the beach. that's what I miss living in nl. I was so used to being 30 mins from the sea when I was in Kent and Devon, and here it's a 2 hour drive (and you have to share it with the rest of the country and a flock of Germans as EVERYONE decamps west to the coast...the traffic jams on Monday were unbelieveable, am glad we didn't try it).

Mrs H we have one of the phillips avent models. no video, but can talk through it and has a lullaby function which we use to get M back off to sleep if he wakes in the middle of the night. Also has a good range (works if we're in the garden or next door at the ILs).

Scheherezade · 30/05/2012 10:07

was wondering where you had got to! Anyone heard from sassy?

C has fallen asleep in my arms, he did same yesterday...ahhh :)

I come from a lovely old seaside town, moved for uni and when DP got his job. I miss just being able to go for walks, the gardens and seafront and parks. It's lovely here but nowhere you can push a pram.

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 30/05/2012 13:24

Just quick question, S seems to be back to taking 3 x 30 min naps per day. She was down to 2 naps, 30 mins around 10/10.30 then again 2/2.30ish with bed at 7pm. The last few days she has been a nightmare to keep awake. This morning she woke at 6am but gave dummy and she went back over till 7am. Nap at 10am for 25 mins and has now been sleeping in car for past 20 mins. Now means that she will need another sleep after 4 as there is no way she will last till bed time and I don't want to put her down any earlier than normal. Can't blame the heat as its cloudy and cooler today. Is there a sleep/development spurt at 8 months? I'm off to check the chart cheshire put up on fb group

Scheherezade · 30/05/2012 16:31

Fuzzzy- yes a big one at 8m, I looked at the chart recently.

Engelsmeisje · 30/05/2012 17:27

would explain why M is having sleep trouble as well fuzzy (he's only 7 and a half months....almost there!).

Yesterday M managed to vomit over MILs shoulder onto the sofa (none of us noticed) which she then sat in. Nice. Think we may have overfed him a teeny bit...lots of vomit!

Then today

strawberrypenguin · 30/05/2012 17:31

scheh it is lovely when they fall asleep on you isn't it Smile

eng do you think the helmet is making his head too hot in this weather? How is M's head now?

Poor Bea I don't 'know' Cup but I know of them hope everythings ok

strawberrypenguin · 30/05/2012 17:32

eng Envy

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 30/05/2012 17:44

Shock engel
Hmm mustard?! Confused. Yummy Grin

Engelsmeisje · 30/05/2012 17:51

It makes me sick just thinking about it (though it's also quite funny). I don't want to tell DH because he will take the piss out of me so much!

reminds me of that Blackadder episode when he offers Darling a dead slug..."Liquorice Allsort Darling?" only my story is more disgusting

It's cooled down a bit here now strawberry . About 22 during the day instead of 30 (and not as humid). Our house is quite cool during the day as well (unless it's super hot like last week). M seems to be fine with helmet. He sweated a bit on his head the first few days while he was getting used to it, but since then he's been fine. Yesterday was the first day he'd been fully dressed (t-short and trousers) in over a week. he's just been in a romper during the heatwave.

I think he may have some more teeth coming through. He's sitting on DH howling right now. he's just woken up from a little nap, though he should be going to bed soon. (M, not DH).

Engelsmeisje · 30/05/2012 18:52

After making him swear not to tell anyone (especially the ILs!) have told DH about poo-licking. he's now saying that everytime we have an argument or disagreement, he's going to tell me to "Eat Shit" Grin

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 30/05/2012 18:58

You'll live to regret that engel Grin

CheshireDing · 30/05/2012 19:32

Engels you are minging Grin

Pebble my business is dog and cat food, we have been working on it for a few years and now just got to the actual sales point, I would really like to get some good progress with it so I don't have to go back to work in October (because they were not very nice when I last saw them). Am in communications with supermarkets at the moment but it would be an understatement to say it's not easy!

P is currently shouting it her cot because she has been talking to the drawer knobs instead of feeding so I put her down and she is rolling everywhere and whittering. She always seems to do the Wonder Weeks about a week early so that mixed with 6am waking is driving me to knackerdome. Bring on next Wednesday and the blind man coming.

Scheh I have been wondering about Sassy too, BB3 is on hols lucky bugger :)

Scheherezade · 30/05/2012 19:36

Engels Shock !!!

PenguinArmy · 30/05/2012 19:44

Grin Engels

won't be too long before the early walkers get going. DD was cruising by now and ds doesn't even get onto all fours Grin although if something he wants is in front of him he can reach forward until his hands are on the floor, then gets confused by his feet and cries. We have a working jumperoo, mattel uk not only sent us our missing piece on next day delivery but also for free, so he better not think of walking for a few months anyway so we can get some use out of it.

he is still a bit poorly but last night wasn't too bad. struggled getting through yesterday kept thinking I was drifting off while standing up and at playgroup. he only totalled 45 mins napping today and the skin on his legs is all up so guess ezcema definitely isn't only confined to his head now. feels weird putting diprobase on other parts as they aren't dry like his head gets.

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 30/05/2012 20:46

pa poor baby, hope he is better soon Sad. The eczema can't be much fun.

My girl is now 8 months old. Holy moly Shock

LittlePebble · 30/05/2012 20:47

Engels Eeeeeuuuwwww! Grin

Sassy hasn't been on here or facebook for a couple of weeks. Holiday? Broken computer? Hope shes ok.

E will not go to sleep no idea why...

Penelope1980 · 30/05/2012 20:48

Isn't bb3 in Turkey (or just returned?)

I want to do a trip abroad so badly at present I have an excellent memory for other people's travels! We are playing with the idea of a trip overseas later in the year, but haven't decided yet. We've been invited to a wedding in Australia, but still not sure if we can make it. Decisions.

penguin I was wondering when A would walk yesterday actually. He likes to be held in a standing position, but is probably a long way from walking. I hope. We just finished child proofing for his crawling!

Grin Engels, minging!

Cheshire - a friend of mine was expecting a guy from the blinds shop to come and measure up her flat a few years ago. The buzzer went and when she answered it whoever spoke wasn't very clear but she was pretty sure he said he was the blind man. So, she let him in and when he got up to her flat she brought him in and was giving him a tour of the flat and describing what she wanted in each room and thought he looked a bit confused. She paused and he said 'Sorry Mrs, I don't know what you're talking about, I'm collecting money for the blind society'! GrinGrin Your mention of the blind man reminded me!

Sorry for all the babies and mummies not sleeping Sad. We've never slept through since January but at least all I do is lift her, feed her then put her back down a couple of times a night - dreading trying to get her to sleep through!

I've stopped feeding L during the day. She gets a bfeed when she wakes up, before bed and through the night. She's not taking a great deal of milk or even water yet during the day but fingers crossed she'll start drinking a bit more in the next couple of days.

strawberrypenguin · 30/05/2012 23:08

Grin so many 'blind man' jokes!

I've been wondering when W will walk. He hates being on his tummy don't know if it's just him or a throw back to when his kidney was massive and uncomfortable. He does love being on his feet though always has so he's strong on his legs and he's started 'walking' if you do the balancing bit for him!

I've been wondering about sassy too hope she's OK

PenguinArmy · 31/05/2012 08:08

DS 'walks' but backwards Hmm:)

Scheherezade · 31/05/2012 09:36

wow @ Jessica! I think she may be our first baby bus walker!

We're had our first REALLY GOOD days, C is actually going down on the floor and NOT CRYING! In fact he's currently rolling around and smiling!! Miracles do happen! I just tried to do cc with putting him down - left him wailing whilst I was still in the room so he could see me & knew I hadn't left him, and picked him up to soothe if he was getting really upset, tears etc. It's made him a lot more confident, although nothing is safe now - he's already had the TV wires, the curtains the dogs bone and is now trying to tackle the fireplace Hmm . I don't know if he'll crawl - he's happy to roll everywhere! But I don't care, its a massive improvement on needing to be held 24/7!

strawberry you're the curry queen aren't you ( Grin ) . Just I have some ingredients I need to use up, and I thought I could make a curry type stew type thing out of them. Could you suggest what to do/how to make? I have squash, parsnip, twenty thousand potatoes, cherry tomatoes, almost every spice/herb going, red lentils, onions garlic etc. I also have a roast loin of pork leftover. I thought I could make a curry type thing, and add the pork? But I have no idea how to cook lentils or make curry. Advice/direction gratefully received.

What are people doing about TV's for child proofing? I'm not sure how to hide the wires/stop it toppling over.

Scheherezade · 31/05/2012 09:39

aahh, just came across this www.yummly.com/recipe/Moroccan-Lentil-Stew-Recipezaar

That could work? It's just chop them up and bung them in. Might add some more spices - trying to get him used to different flavours. And without any stock, just water, of course.

FuzzzyDuckosaurus · 31/05/2012 10:05

sch when it comes to stock, I just use 1/2 a cube and the full amount of water. I want to eat same as S when I can but I find it to bland if I add nothing. Plus im thinking that she only eats a tiny amount anyway so amount of salt would be very little. Always wanted to try a lentil curry. Let me know how it goes and I may give it a go. I made S a risotto last night from the Annabel Karmel book. She seemed to enjoy it. Managed to get a few portions into freezer too. Starting to fill up with extras now which is great cause I can never be bothered to cook!!!
