Bloody hell I only have about 6oz so far! Serious pumpage needed.

Lookout can you just unzip the bag? Alternatively can you undress him and then feed him back to sleep maybe?

lookout · 22/05/2012 13:08

Yep, he woke up. Now he's definitely hot cos he's in his cot screaming Sad never thought i would curse good weather...

PenguinArmy · 22/05/2012 13:13

are you gone for a whole 24 hours?

CheshireDing · 22/05/2012 13:43

Just trying to weight up the cheapest option re petrol really Penguin and that I won't be distracted then by P. Do you think it's irresponsible/unfeasible at this age?

Lookout should I send my Gran over? Her and P went out 40 minutes go with her final question being "If I walk that way along the path where does it lead it?" My response "Southport" Hmm The Trans Pennine is a straight path you wouldn't think she could get lost but they're not back yet!

PenguinArmy · 22/05/2012 13:54

no I don't

lookout · 22/05/2012 14:26

CD She's prob on her way over right now Grin I had to get him up in the end. Why does this kind of thing ruin my day, though? I am incapable of going with the flow. Desperately need some coaching in that area! Re the milk situation: can you supplement with formula? And would you not be distracted by being away for 24 hours?

PA the heat really affects E's eczema too, which is why the panic earlier. Almost out of hydrocortisone though and hate going to the GP (they are always running late and I hate waiting with a baby in tow).

Tally most of E's food ends up down the side of the chair too, but I am asured by many that this is normal and that as long as they are having a go that is the most important thing. We're only just beginning so no help with what to cook, but a friend has recommended a blw book, so maybe that would be a good thing to try.

MrsHende · 22/05/2012 17:18

Lookout, can you not get the hydrocortisone cream from Minor Ailments at the chemist? Save you queuing at the gp.

Other than too hot babies, isn't this weather gorgeous!

MamaMaiasaura · 22/05/2012 19:35

Can I ask those still ebf a question please.

Today J had bfeed after breakfast around 9.30 and then we went to theme park. She refused to nurse there. Latching on and the crying (because noise/distraction I think).,by 3pm she had only had a tiny bit of water, and small amount of lunch.,I tried to nurse again in car and she cried and pulled off. When we got home she had 5-10 mins then bit me and wasn't wanting any more. An hour later I tried her again. Another 5-10 mins. The dinner and a bfeed now. Is anyone else having problems bfing away from home?

lookout · 22/05/2012 19:38

Mama depends where we are but yes, if there's too much of a distraction he won't b'feed away from home. Needs to be relatively quiet and definitely not somewhere new. Oh and if he's too tired and away from home he won't either.

i don't know about balanced meal but here is a selection of meals i have made over the past few weeks plus one or two others that popped into my head. we seem to be going through a phase of not using potatoes.

Baba ghanoush, falafel, cous cous in pitta bread with melon for pudding (we?re out of salad to serve it with)

Green lentils cooked with garam masala, coriander, ginger and garlic, dressed with lemon juice, balsamic vinegar and olive oil. Served with asparagus, rocket/watercress/spinach salad (found it in the reduced section) and green beans. Not all veg in one day, meal was split over two days.
Chippy Grin

Load of veggies stir fried (onion, pepper, carrot, mushrooms, broccoli, frozen spinach, frozen peas, frozed sweetcorn, courgette, garlic tinned pineapple) tin of beans (i used borlotti) with spices (eg. Discovery spices or make your own), added tomato puree and lemon juice. Served with wraps and salsa (home-made of jar ? in past years when we had a garden i was to batch freeze cooked tomatoes from the garden). [2 days] If you like chicken then coating it in flour that has been mixed with paprika, lemon juice, salt and pepper is a good addition. If having guests then pre-making salsa and guacamole as well.

Caponata with quinoa in pitta breads (sometimes DH has this with sausage and coucous instead) [2 days]

Penne pasta, pan fried fresh spinach and toasted pinenuts. I like this meal as it is all cooked in the time it takes to cook the pasta, so quick, simple and healthy.

Home-made bean burgers, with home-made potato wedges and veg. (I generally do half the wedges with garam masala and chilli and the other half with paprika, all with salt and pepper). Obviously can do with mash as well.

Once i need to go shopping then a red lentil or yellow pea dall is handy. Can cook just with spices or if other veggies are around like squash, carrots beetroot. Served with rice and a frozen veg.

Veggie Chilli with pinto beans

Lentil shepards pie, good once winter comes around again.

A hot green salad. Something we do if we have a fair few green veggies. Stir fry veggies, add a tin of beans. Boil some potatoes and mix. Dress with a French mustard, red wine vinegar, olive oil dressing.

Sometimes I do make warm hoummus with potato wedges and veg.

PenguinArmy · 22/05/2012 19:50

yes, DS is borderline reverse cycling with me

pinkpainter · 22/05/2012 20:54

Wow PA - your food list sounds absolutely amazing!! How on earth do you find the time to do all that delicious cooking?

We eat a lot of lentils, beans, spicey stuff too - but mainly in the slow cooker - my DH preps everything the night before and I just pop it into the slow cooker in the morning - I'm so spoilt!

Lookout - I'm so pleased the blw is going well for you :)

Jnice · 22/05/2012 21:03

Hi all. Hope those babies reverse cycling get back on schedule soon, I can remember that happening with ds1 which coincided with going back to work.

Quick food question, is anyone finding it tough to fit solids in with other commitments? I often don't have time to do him a breakfast and most days he only gets brunch/lunch and dinner. Feeling bad about that.

Also, I've been prescribed anti-depressants and sleeping tablets after trying to avoid them Sad - anyone else started both at once? I have Ativan and Zoloft (north American names) . Feeling nervous to take both today. If anyone has experience please let me know (pm if preferred).

Thanks so much!

EdwardorEricCantDecide · 22/05/2012 21:03

mama M is the same she latches on for a minute or two then likes to have a look around then lath on again and repeat until I get annoyed with flashing my boob to everyone and basically refuse her it! She does take quite a lot of water now though especially if it's from the fridge! She can easily get through a whole beaker in a day if allowed I tr not to give her too much water though in case it puts her off her milk.

Jnice · 22/05/2012 21:05

Just googled and it's lorazepam and Sertraline.

strawberrypenguin · 22/05/2012 21:56

PA that's an impressive range of food, I still give W pouches mostly Blush

Jnice can't help I'm afraid but I hope they work for you x

Hi mama how are you feeling now?

TallyBear · 22/05/2012 22:07

Sorry, reverse cycling? Is this a code for something?

Thanks for all the meal ideas. I also have the AK book but stopped looking when it all looked like purees. Is everyone pureeing the food then? I like to give Seb what we are having, not pureed. Is that wrong lazy? We tried pasta again tonight and he seemed to like it a bit more with grated cheese on it. He had a lump of mince from the bolognese too.

Some people (forget/can't find who) were having trouble with their lo's not eating solids. I find that if I'm eating with Seb on my knee he wants whatever I'm having, even grabbing it out of my hand.

Jnice dh is at home with Seb now and I know he is struggling to fit solids in. Seb didn't have anything (solid) today until I got home. We certainly have no routine for mealtimes but then Seb has never been one for routines. The only routine we have is for bedtime. In terms of weaning in general though I do feel a bit lost. There doesn't seem to be much help and any that there is is all based on purees and 'traditional' weaning.

No advice on the meds I'm afraid, but if they've been prescribed together then they must be OK to take together. If you're not sure can you check with a pharmacist before you start them just to reassure yourself?

Jnice · 22/05/2012 23:06

Tally reverse cycling is feeding more at night than during the day, like when they were newborn and had day and night mixed up.

Gla to hear I'm not the only one not running a 3 meal a day schedule!

MamaMaiasaura · 22/05/2012 23:09

Edward & lookout - thanks. I remember my boys having fussy phases but J seems much more strong willed.

strawberry we are ok. Took him out for treat today. Still swinging from agreeing to not. Got report this week and said that she's certain he is high functioning autistic due to speech delay but otherwise presents as Aspergers. I hate I keep look at him for signs of it rather that looking at him as my regular scrummy 4 year old. I know that sounds awful Sad. I forgot you were close by to us. Your Winchester comment reminded me.

jnice the sleeping tablets might knock you for 6 and make night feeding harder. Are you cosleeping as wouldn't be great with sleeping meds. With the anti depressants are they starting you on a low dose? When I was on them with ds it took a while to find right ones. they are helpful tho in giving you respite to gather your strength to fight the depression.

No idea what back cycling is Confused
