hello everyone :) Just trying to catch up with the thread but missed so much! Anything I should know?

You must be getting near your due date now kitty.. are you all ready? Two of my nct group have had their 2nd babies now and both appear to be coping wonderfully. I am very impressed, I still find having one just knackers me out!

WRT sleep, G switched to one nap a day a month or so ago and it works much better. He used to have his first sleep about 2-3 hours after waking, and then his 2nd sleep in the afternoon (about 1.30) for another hour or 90 minutes. But he wasn't wanting to go down for his afternoon sleep and he also wan't sleeping too well at night. So now he has an early lunch (12.00) and straight to sleep after that and sometimes sleeps for 2.5hrs which is lovely! He is very tired by the time he goes down for his nap but it does seem much better overall and has improved his night time sleep. (Though he keeps waking at 5.00 at the moment and wanting milk.....which is annoying)

I am definitely ready for another bab now, but just can't afford 2 in childcare so have a bit of a wait yet. I absolutely love the age that DS is at! They are such lovely little characters and not too naughty yet either. Most of the time that is, he is obviously a total sod at other times!

Kittycatcat · 31/08/2012 07:01

Eugh. Three yukky nappies yest and s woke almost hourly thru the night. I had to dart to the loo at 2. Not sure if its his tum or lack of pm nap that kept him awake....

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 31/08/2012 07:54

Sounds like a nightmare Kitty, hope you both have good naps today.

Re naps, F has been on one nap for a while. He'll go down about 3-4 hrs after waking, and sleep for about 2hrs. He's a total nightmare if I try to make him wait till after lunch.

He had his settling in visit at the nursery yesterday. It was odd. I'll tell you more later.

GlaikitFizzog · 31/08/2012 11:34

Well, I did it, my blog, entitled gimme gimme gimme a man on a Thursday night was published today! Fingers crossed it drums up some interest!

Urge kitty, not what you need right now. Hope it was just a one off.

B is still a bit up and down with naps. Sometimes he has 2 sometime only one. Sometimes I think he pretends to be sleepy so he can go play I his cot!! We nevery really know day by day!

I can't link to it, because it's on our intranet. I can copy it here if you want, I'll just have to edit out the identifying features!

After , I thought I?d had my fill of Abba for a while, but no. Here I am, as the new choir master (how did that happen?) with another of their classic songs whirring through my head as I try to think of ways to encourage more of my Scottish colleagues to join us in the choir.

Accosting them at the photocopier doesn't seem to work, they just think I've gone a bit loopy, smile and mutter something about being tone deaf and then back away slowly.

But I believe everyone can sing. You don't need to be warbling like Mariah or crooning like Sinatra to be in the choir. All you need is a lung full of air and a smile on your face. Confidence will come, that's what rehearsals are for. And believe me when I say, if our success was judged on some of our rehearsals? well!

Choir Scotland is great as an individual unit, but when we were joined by a delegation of our colleagues from the Choir Englanshire for Edinburgh ? WOW - the sound we made was incredible. All our months of hard work had paid off!

Buoyed by our fABBAulous performance at , we are chomping at the bit to get started with our preparation for, dare I say it, Christmas! And for that we need your help.

Going back to my earworm, and the reason I?m writing this, we need more men. More women would be welcome too of course, but we?re mainly appealing for more males to join our group.

Rehersals are every Thursday from 6.30-8pm - we're also trying to sort out a lunchtime one

Kittycatcat · 31/08/2012 16:14

Well done fizz

Kittycatcat · 01/09/2012 12:08

Another rubbish night. Dh managed to get him back to sleep in his arms and he then slept on the sofa til 9am. Unheard of. So I skipped his milk and gave him breakfast followed by a cup of milk. Think we may be teething. Going to try one nap today as he isn't sleeping anyway.

Starshaped · 01/09/2012 21:46

We've been down to one nap since P was 10 or 11 months. Dropping the morning snooze improved P's sleep a massive amount. She went from two short crappy sleeps to one big one (often a blissful two hours at home) and her night time sleep improved too.

Fingers crossed you have a better night tonight Kitty

Kittycatcat · 01/09/2012 22:37

Jd only had one nap today but that's cos he didn't properly wake til 9 after his bad night. He's already stirred once but self settled. Fingers crossed. Can see the last? Tooth... How many teeth? Think this is 16/17?!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 01/09/2012 22:49

kitty teeth go on forever! DS1 didn't stop teething until he was almost 2, and T is looking the same. We had a bad night with him last night, took ages to settle him and then he was awake in the night. He can at least tell us when it is teeth bothering him these days, which helps!

In terms of naps, T has only ever had 1 really since newborn days. Today he didn't nap at all I really hope that it is a one off and he isn't dropping it - I have plans for his nap times once DS1 is at school!

Fizz your choir sounds fab, if only you weren't at the other end of the country I would join! Grin

Kittycatcat · 01/09/2012 22:53

JKSLtd · 02/09/2012 17:55

DD only has one nap a day too, has done for ages. It's normally quite long which is blissful especially when the boys are both at school.

GlaikitFizzog · 02/09/2012 18:05

Tooth17 has made an appearance here! Dental nurse neighbour had a good look because I couldn't tell if it was one or 2 teeth!

We've had a proper "hello" here to. Said into the remote control :)

What y going to see JKS? Been trying to watch on C4 but the ads annoy me!

I've applied for 2 jobs at work this week. One is the same job I went for before I went back, and had an awful interview for and the other is in another department. I would prefer the first, but the second will probably interview first, so I might have a tricky decision to make, because it is an unspoken rule if you are offered an internal job you take it, no going back once interviews have passed. Both jobs will involve a change in my working days/hours, but I think I can manage that. B is really settled with the new cm now and even though she scares the shit out of me, he loves her!

JKSLtd · 02/09/2012 18:18

Off to the Athletics :)

Though hoping we can see some other stuff on big screens - i think i read that there are some for people hanging about the park?

Haven't studied the schedule for what events exactly, and also not sure of the stadium layout to know whether we'll see much of the long jump for eg or if we'll be right at the other side.

Kittycatcat · 03/09/2012 07:50

Good luck fizz keep us posted.

Enjoy the athletics jks

So s has only had one nap the last two nights. First night he woke at 530 moaning so I gave him some medicine and he went back to sleep til 650. And he stirred at 530 this am but self settled til 645 again. Yay. I've given him his milk In a cup the last two mornings but he's not paying it much interest. Cones and goes to it. Night time more tricky. Start with cup and finish with bottle. Think if I put it in a bottle this morning he'd down it.

GlaikitFizzog · 03/09/2012 08:06

Anyone seen Frak around? Not seen her for ages. I know she was moving.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 03/09/2012 09:18

JKS have fun! Grin

T slept for 16 hours the other night after having no nap, and then had a 1.5 hour nap yesterday because he was really sleepy - and then we couldn't get him settled to bed until 10.30 last night!

It is the teething that has unsettled him, and I'm sure a growth spurt is coming because he has eaten huge amounts the last couple of days - he had nearly as much roast dinner as I did yesterday!! His feet have just grown a bit, but gone up 2 width fittings in the space of 3 weeks which is always a precursor of growth upwards I find!
DS1's feet have grown almost 2 sizes over the summer as well, I have had to take out a small mortgage to cover the amount I have spent on shoes for them both Grin

Fizz - I haven't seen Frak anywhere on the boards, so I'm guessing she is radio silent mid-move.

One week before school, and we are off to Italy at the weekend for a wedding. Not looking forward to the flight, I hate flying so I'm really nervous, plus I am stressed about getting onto the plane with carseat, buggy, boys, hand luggage. Not to mention the issue of trying to keep T still and amused for 2 hours... [gin emoticon]

I need to sew name tapes and wash uniform. And clean the house before DS1's teacher comes to visit tomorrow.

GsyPotatoPieEyed · 03/09/2012 20:23

We are going teacher visiting tomorrow too Ali. Luckily we are going into school so no need to throw everything upstairs tidy up. I have ironed in most of the name labels as I'm crap at anything resembling a craft. Have also used a fabric marker pen for good measure.

Enjoy the wedding.

Kittycatcat · 04/09/2012 18:46

How's all the teacher / school visits going?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 05/09/2012 08:30

The thread dropped out of my threads I'm on Shock

Good luck for all of those starting school today. Ds2 was back at pre school yesterday. It was his first ever full day there and he loved it. I had a proud parent moment when the staff said he helped show the new children what to do at snack time. He is now the oldest child there and feeling very important Grin

The camping at the weekend was FAB. The boys had a great time, as did we. It was nice to spend so much time with my sister and her family.

Today is day two of ds3 having only one daytime nap. It went swimmingly yesterday, so am expecting things to go pear shaped today Grin

Kittycatcat · 05/09/2012 08:38

Oh yes good luck little ones.

ilike fingers crossed for you. We are on day 5 I think and nights are much better for it. He sleeps in for an extra hour now. Woo hoo.

12 days til kitten 2 arrives.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 05/09/2012 09:04

Morning :)

The visit went well yesterday, DS1 was charming and polite and didn't stop running laps of the house Grin I have assured the teacher that he will calm down...
His first day is next Tuesday.

T just had a 45 minute nap yesterday, and still didn't settle very well to bed. He is still asleep now though...
God knows what is going on with him, I think it is developmental because he just wanted to sing and chatter to himself instead of drop off, and then he would gradually get grumpier and louder until one of us had to intervene or he would have woken DS1.

ILike - bless him Grin

MrsWajs · 05/09/2012 10:59

I am slighlty concerned at R's lack of teeth with some of you talking about 16th/17th teeth coming in!! We still only have 8 here! Is that normal? I do think she's teething at the moment though, we had 3 gross nappies and a lot of gurning yesterday, fingers crossed!

Wanted to pick brains too. Recently we've had a lot of sodden wet nappies that seem to appear from nowhere, i.e. she'll be relatively dry one minute and then 5 minutes later the nappy is soaking through vest and clothes! Is this a sign that perhaps she's controlling her bladder a bit more and just doing bigger wee's less often? We've had the potty out which she loves to sit on but has never actually done anything in and she can tell you sometimes when she needs the toilet ("poo poo" applies to both types of elimination) but I still think she's too young (16mo) to start potty training proper. Any ideas?

Hope all the LO's starting school got on fine and hope DS is feeling beter about things ali DSS started school about 3 weeks ago now and he loves it! Starts going full days next week so will see if he still feels the same then!

Hope you're finding things a bit easier with S soon kitty Can't believe it's so close to kitten2 arriving! Am a teeny bit jealous that you get to do the whole newborn thing all over again so soon!

Enjoy the paralympics JKS :)

Good luck with job interviews Fizz and the choir blog sounds great - well done you.

Have seen an occasional post from Frak on facebook but not anywhere here.

Good luck with WW Ecuse I lost all my baby weight and another stone doing it last year and found it quite easy going. The difficult part has been keeping it off Blush I have easily piled back on around 8 lbs this summer but am going to start again next week as I'm going to London for the weekend in October with some girlfriends to celebrate our 30th birthdays and I refuse to be shopping for bigger sized clothes!!

Sorry if I've missed anyone else, am off here for so long that I miss pages of what's happening!

In our news, we had DPs friends funeral last week which was just so sad but DP seems to have a bit of closure on it now and has been behaving a bit less irrationally and is sleeping better so hopefully he's on his way back to his normal self. His business is doing well and he has taken on his first employee this week! All going well he may take on someone else after Christmas and hopefully if that's the case I may be able to drop another day at work! Yay! Anyone got any pointers on keeping books as I have no idea about it whatsoever but I'm going to need to learn!

R is doing well despite her lack of teeth! Her speech is just amazing (in my biased opinion!) we're really having to watch what's said in front of her now because she parrots everything!

Well done if you've read to the end of this, wasn't planning on it being quite so long!
