I just had a thought. This time next year some of our lo's will be starting pre school

ecuse · 28/08/2012 13:48

Oh, Ali your poor little boy. It sounds all a bit overwhelming for him. I remember having similar types of episodes when I was little - I've always hated change. Was in floods of tears before starting secondary school, even university. In the end I thoroughly loved both and never have any idea what I was so worried about with hindsight. It's just that change scares me, even if I'm excited about the thing coming next. Hoping your DS is the same xx

GlaikitFizzog · 28/08/2012 18:59

I'm glad it made sense Ali, I wrote it in a very sleepy haze.

Today I have had one of those days where everything that could go wrong did go wrong. I went to work with the buggy in the boot, left my phone at home, locked myself out of my computer at work, keyed a critical payment with the wrong date that was then approved and sent, failed to get it recalled in time, was going to work on half an hour to get everything tidied up so tomorrow starts on a clean slate only for dh to phone and say he had missed his train, do I had to get B from CM, I've been reported to facilities at work for parking "illegally" in a space not designated for my company and my manager has to reprimand me Hmm, got B, arrived home at the same time as DH, who brained himself on the boot of the car, then turned my ankle carrying B from the car to the front door. Oh and B has somehow developed a black eye, and has a nose giving niagra falls a run for its money.

I'm going straight to bed before anything else happens.

Kittycatcat · 28/08/2012 19:01

Poor little Sad.

I've had enough. S is a good boy but he's winding me up. Keeps turning the tele off, amd the DVD on which turns the channel to DVD. He was a nightmare at my Nans, running up the stairs. Touching things he shouldn't. I just don't have the energy. If I do too much my bump gets sore. I'm close to tears. How do I get a 15 month old to understand no? I'm all shouty and horrible Sad.

Kittycatcat · 28/08/2012 19:02

Oh god fizz. They is the day from hell!! Have a vino and go to bed.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 28/08/2012 19:16

Tomorrow WILL be better Fizz, days like today are evil and luckily are few and far between

Being heavily pg and looking after a toddler is exhausting Kitty, don't be too tough on yourself. I've said this before, but I found the stage you are at now harder than looking after a toddler and a newborn. I don't know if it was ds2's or my behaviour (or a combination of the two) that went down hill when I was heavily pg, but it was tough.

Then a couple of weeks before ds3 was due I had a light bulb moment and realised that it would never be just me and ds1 once the baby was born, so I should enjoy this time. After the mental slap everything seemed to be so much better. My mood lifted, I felt energised and ds2 and we had a fab last few weeks together - which makes me think my mood had a lot to do with ds2's behaviour........

I'm not saying this is what's happening with you, just thought my experience might help

Kittycatcat · 28/08/2012 19:21

Thanks ilike that's what I said when I started leave. I wanted to make the most of my time with him but my patience has run out at the same time hid energy increased.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 28/08/2012 19:35

Sometimes you need to hit the low to enable you to climb back up again. Have a cry and a tub of ice cream, and remember that tomorrow is another day.

Try and remember that he's not being naughty, he's being curious - he's obviously a bright boy Grin If it's easier for now, don't put yourself in situations where it's difficult and leads to conflict. You can't avoid tricky situations forever, but you can for a few weeks.

Oh, and sleep when he does - it helped me get through the afternoons.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 28/08/2012 19:36

Ds2 and dh are off on a bat hunt tonight (ds is obssessed!) do you reckon they will see any?!

chillikat · 28/08/2012 19:45

fizz and kitty hope you're both relaxing on the sofa now.

Ilike I hope DH and DS2 see some bats - we have them flying over our back yard so no reason why they shouldn't see them :) I remember going to moth nights as a child, but as well as moths we'd see bats and owls.

I realised today that though M doesn't say many words one that she has got is cake.

Kittycatcat · 28/08/2012 19:56

Thanks Smile

Oh bat hunt sounds fun.

Cake Grin. S can almost say chocolate too. Oops

GlaikitFizzog · 28/08/2012 21:13

Relaxing on sofa, with foot up as its quite a bit swollen and bruised. Dh playing football so I'm just waiting for him to come in limping to complete the day. And there is no chocolate in the house at all. I've even scraped the dregs out of the nutella jar like some hobo raking in the bins. I wish I could order in chocolate in like pizza.

chillikat · 28/08/2012 21:31

I probably shouldn't show you this link they probably don't delivery within half an hour or so like normal pizzas.

GlaikitFizzog · 28/08/2012 21:50

Our chip shop does chocolate pizzas, pizza base, nutella, flake, chopped up mars bar. Heart attack in a box but god it's georgous.

I'm weeping at midwives, but I think i just needed a blubb!

chillikat · 28/08/2012 22:03

Fizz - that pizza sounds grim. I made the mistake of getting a sweet christmas pizza at Morrisons when i was at uni - scone base, sweet mincemeat and marzipan - all things I love but it was really grim. Give me normal pizza anyday (no banana, made that mistake once too).
All this talk of pizza I need more cake.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 29/08/2012 08:35

Chocolate pizza? How does that work? Do they deep fry it?

Speaking of deep fried pizza, does it still taste of the toppings?

My friend belongs to a chocolate club and gets chocolate through her letterbox every month!

No bats were spotted. Ds was tired and couldn't wait up long enough for dusk. They are doing a bat walk at the NT property in the village next month so I may look into doing that with him. Apparently the estate is one of the best places to spot bats in the country. I've never spotted bats in our garden, but I have defo heard them.

GlaikitFizzog · 29/08/2012 08:45

It's done in a pizza oven, we don't deep fry everything up here you know Wink. It is very sickly, but if y need a chocolate fix, it's the dogs!!

We have bats in our tree are the back. The previous owner of our house had them in the loft. We've got all the certificates they got when they got them removed. They are quite cute, I've held a pitstrel?? At a safari park place. Teeny tiny wee things!

Unexpected day off for me today, B has been up all night coughing and spluttering and generally being miserable :(. Although I did go into work to finish the unfinished stuff from yesterday at 7am. Just relieved dh of nursing duties so he can get to work for his 10am meeting. The parenting malarkey is like trying to juggle with one hand behind your back sometimes!

Starshaped · 29/08/2012 11:19

Gosh, that sounds like the day from hell Fizz Sad Fingers crossed that today is better.

I have also sampled a chocolate pizza. Our fave pizza shop at uni served them - it was minging! Your variety sounds better than ours though - everybody knows that Nutella makes everything edible!

For those of you that have flown with toddlers, any tips? We're off to Europe for a couple of days. It's not a long flight but I'm worried about her ears hurting on take off. Do we just try and get her eat and drink something?

Kittycatcat · 29/08/2012 12:46

I just gave s some food yes and he was fine

ecuse · 30/08/2012 12:19

Crikey, Fizz, that does sound like the day from hell. You poor thing. I can see why chocolate was required.

I am bored shitless not eating any chocolate doing WeightWatchers to loose the baby weight (ahem - and then another 4 stone). I have lost the baby weight. Woohoo! But this is the easy beginning bit where the weight drops off and it's all a novelty. Soon I shall plateau and get bored and then it'll all be rubbish again.

We have bats in our garden, they are quite cute.

Kitty - I should think being very pregnant with a toddler is monumentally shit. Take a deep breath and use Cebeebies and chocolate liberally as required, and go easy on yourself xx

Kittycatcat · 30/08/2012 12:50

Good luck with ww ecuse. And that's exactly what I'm doing Smile. Last few days have been better but we have been at home.

ecuse · 30/08/2012 14:47

I think being at home is key. Make people come to you if they want to see you. I'm not pregnant and I often find it quite stressful going to other people's houses where I have to keep dragging Jo away from non-baby friendly things. In our own living room she's pretty much free to potter round by herself without too much intervention.

Kittycatcat · 30/08/2012 15:29

It's stressful eh. My friends are coming here tomorrow and bringing lunch Smile.

Kittycatcat · 30/08/2012 18:49

How many naps are your lo's havin? S now has his am one about 4 hrs after he woke up but this am it wasn't til 1130 ish so he wouldn't nap at 5. Tried for an hour!

chillikat · 30/08/2012 20:17

M has been on just one nap for ages - 6 months or more. It's worked out quite well as she naps at lunchtime so I pick her up from nursery as 12.30ish walk a long way home (20minutes instead of 5) and she falls asleep in the pram. Sometimes if it's raining too much (like yesterday) I go straight home and feed her to sleep and she naps in the cot. Naps are usually one and a half to 2 hours, but have been longer recently.

Then things like today happened..... as I was cycling home from work I heard a jangly noise, thought nothing of it until I got home (completely soaked by rain) and found my keys weren't in my bag Sad. Couldn't get in the house to get pram to pick M up, etc. Ended up cycling to nursery and asking if it was ok for her to stay longer while I went back to try and find my keys. Then called DH who was the other side of town buying nappies and wipes in his lunch hour, he agreed to pick M up when he could and meet me at home. Luckily I did find my keys in the road but M had fallen asleep at nursery and having been woken up to go home wasn't in the mood to nap again. I think she's had 15 minutes today! Tomorrow I'll be checking my keys are safely at the bottom of my bag and not going to fall out.
