Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I'm doing well ta. Wondering how I'm going to get Sam in and out of his highchair / cot etc next week when dh goes back to work. I can lift but definately shouldn't. I know my dm is coming for a day and I've mates I'm asking found fri. It's the rest of the week.

Frakiosaurus · 24/09/2012 22:36

I am thinking of names...

Pity we didn't have this before kitten arrived because I had one:

'First year through, another baby due!'

I think shoes and walking has been a bit of a theme lately. And we're still obsessing about sleep...

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 25/09/2012 01:41

Yep, mention the sleep

Well done kitty, on your first week done!!

Ecuse, I have much sympathy. Are there any new estates near you? They're practically giving new builds away free with every coffee here.

ecuse · 25/09/2012 12:39

Nope, no new estates. We're in North East London (zone 2) so that's very much part of the problem! Maybe I should move to the West Country... [glum]

Although on a brighter note, J and DP survived my first work trip away to SA. DP had a pretty rough time as J got a minor contagious cold/virus and couldn't go to the childminder on the Friday, so DP had to cancel work appointments and stay at home with a grizzly baby. I feel for him but, honest to god, he's laying it on pretty thick! We had the cliched argument about who was most tired pretty much as soon as I got home Grin.

chillikat · 25/09/2012 12:46

You could move up north and buy our house ecuse [hopeful]. I can't imagine how you're coping in a one bed flat - we think our 2 bed terrace is too small.

I've been off work with sicky baby this morning. She threw up a tiny bit yesterday morning but seemed fine and we sent her to nursery anyway Blush she was fine there but then threw up over my shoes yesterday afternoon (thankfully old trainers which hadn't yet made it to the bin) and she's been sick a couple of times in the night. Never loads but enough to make me swap my Thursday off for today. She's eaten and dunk a bit this morning and we're doing ok since 6am so hopefully that's it done. It's kept the washing machine busy.

Kittycatcat · 25/09/2012 18:11

Quick clothes q. Long or short sleeve vests under sleepsuits?

Frakiosaurus · 25/09/2012 18:43

Which child and what temp?

Frakiosaurus · 25/09/2012 18:45

April 2011: this is becoming our refrain, obsessing about sleep again

April 2011: losing sleep and gaining shoes, toddlers share with us their news

Kittycatcat · 25/09/2012 20:06

I like them both.

For Alex... And well prob Sam too

Kittycatcat · 25/09/2012 20:07

Oh and now. Bout 19

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 25/09/2012 20:19

They're both good Frakk, but like the 2nd one the most Smile

Kitty - if it's any help, ds3 is in flannel pj's and a 2.5 tog sleeping bag. No vest and his room is about 19 degrees. This seems about right for him.

For S I would probably put short sleeve vest, sleep suit and blanket/swaddled/grobag. With newborns if I'm not sure I tend to underdress them then add a layer if they seem cold later on - I have always been stressed about over heating babies.

I should probably get back in the habit of putting ds3 in a vest. He has actually been getting a bit chilly this week.

All four of his fecking canines are coming through at the sometime. Good that it gets it over and done with, but blimey they're causing him some gip.

JKSLtd · 25/09/2012 21:32

Frak - I vote for the 2nd :)

I'm dithering with DD and bed clothes atm. So far I'm settling on sleepsuit + a fleecy sleepsuit-thing over the top.
As she doesn't sleep under the duvet, she seems to do a puppy-like thing of making a heap then sleeping on top of it :)
Plus then she can walk about in it in the morning.
I do have some big grobags but not put her in one of them for ages and pretty sure she won't like it!
I find a vest underneath gets a bit bulky. So if I had to choose, a short-sleeve vest underneath.

Plus different kids are different. DD seems to want to be much warmer than the boys ever did.

The latest Apple update has buggered up my phone, grr. Have had to press 'restore' - now waiting to see what i've lost....

Starshaped · 25/09/2012 21:56

DD is in long sleeved PJs (no vest) and a 1.0 tog sleeping bag. Our flat is pretty toasty though, so it's still about 21 degrees in her room. I think I will dig her winter sleeping bags out now it's getting cooler though.

Another vote for the second thread title here Smile

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 25/09/2012 22:33

2nd title is good - well they are both good but I like the 2nd best :)

DS1 is in whatever pjs he chooses, a mixture of long and short tops and trousers. He has got his winter duvet on which is 9 tog but he turns it back if he gets too hot.
T is in either a babygro or long pjs, no vest underneath. His duvet is a 4 tog wool one which is what I have on the cot all year round - he kicks it off if he gets too warm.
kitty I would have A in a short sleeved vest and babygro with a doubled cellular blanket or a fleece blanket atm probably. DS1 always liked being cooler, whereas T is a salamander and likes to be toasty :)

ILike - T is teething atm, molars I think which is causing upset. He is really snotty, and I can't work out whether he has actually got a cold or if it is just the teeth.

Kittycatcat · 25/09/2012 23:04

Thanks ladies. Ive been going short sleeved vest, sleepsuit, blanket and fleece wrap thing. Will put a pic on fb of the wrap. Someone said he looks like a fajita!

Kittycatcat · 27/09/2012 20:43

Alex and I have been discharged from the midwife. I had to ring them as they had missed an appt I think and I moaned my stitch was still in. Turns out its dissolvable. Snort.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 27/09/2012 21:07

kitty I loved the fajhita Grin

JKSLtd · 27/09/2012 21:09

LOL Kitty - glad you've been discharged though :)

GsyPotatoPieEyed · 27/09/2012 23:54

Yes, I remember being most relieved when I found out that my episiotomy stitches were dissolvable too. Grin

ecuse · 28/09/2012 13:30

Congratulations on graduating, Kitty and Alex!

So, Kitty, what does S think of A?

Kittycatcat · 28/09/2012 20:01

Thanks

S is great with a. He gets touched gently and kisses. BUT he's having massive meltdowns over nothing. He is also teething and not sleeping well. Today's been tough..it's been a big week for him so really it could have been alot worse. I'm thinking it actually might be good for us for dh to go back to work Monday and get into some kind of routine. Tho I have friends coming every day to help with s's nap and lunch time.

Starshaped · 28/09/2012 21:17

It sounds like S is going to be a great big brother :) kitty. I imagine a few meltdowns are probably to be expected - although thinking that doesn't make it any easier when you have to deal with them!

I need to let off some steam (so excuse my language!)...
I fucking hate the idiots upstairs - ARRRRRGH. Yes, it's Friday night and yes, it's only nine o'clock but there's not need to play your shitty music (it really is shitty, believe me) so bloody loudly in the bedroom. I can cope when it's in the living room but not when it's in the bedrooms. They're such selfish twats. ARRGH! They managed to piss various other neighbours off with a party until gone 5am the other week (we were on holiday thank god), so hopefully somebody else will go round before I go to bed.

And breath! Blush

Complaining about noisy levels and making chutney on a Friday night. I'm definitely old before my time!
