he's only 23!

Daisy17 · 07/08/2012 11:25

JoEW we get those sorts of nights too, as I was saying to Kitty a while back. My pet theory is that there is so much going on in their little brains at times that it makes them feel weird esp in the wee small hours so they want human company to reassure them. Sounds like me, actually......!

Just come back from having filling at the dentist Shock the second in a month and the only ones in my life! Can I blame pregnancy?! No fair.

TeamGlaikitBritain · 08/08/2012 16:09

Drama at casa Glaikit again. Did I say about hveing B up to hospital a month or so Ago with a re action to something? He had another one Today. It's sun cream. His poor wee eyes were all Swollen and red. Doc is referring us up to hospital to get to the bottom of it. Never a dull moment eh??

Kittycatcat · 08/08/2012 16:28

Oh no poor B Sad

MrsWajs · 08/08/2012 16:41

Glad I wasn't the only one Gsy I didn't have a clue who the guy in the photo was either!! Blush Clearly I haven't been watching enough TV!

JoEW R likes "ow" as well but only says it whilst nipping other people!! Trying to knock that on the head sharpish!!

Aww poor B and his suncream allergy fizz, is it a particular brand you've been using as I've heard a lot of people saying their LOs are allergic to the Nivea one?! Incidently it's what I use for R but we've never had any problems with it.

Envy at your 2 fillings Daisy, I think I have 6!!

TeamGlaikitBritain · 08/08/2012 16:43

He is looking very sorry for himself :(
I need tips onhow to get a toddler to keep a hat on that refuses to keep a hat on! So far all I can think of is superglue or staples!
How bad is letting them out in the sun with no cream on? We are hardly the Sahara here. I try to keep him in the shade as much as possible. The danger is I letting them burn isn't it.
Maybe I could get him one of thos beekeeper hats! :)

TeamGlaikitBritain · 08/08/2012 16:46

We have used Avon stuff and had 2 reactions, amber solaire and today it was a Solent one the cm had. Funnily doc said to try the Nivea one! But I said I didn't want to risk it giving him another reaction be ause they are not nice.

Kittycatcat · 08/08/2012 16:46

The only hat s keeps on velcros with a strap under his chin. Got it in little white co but have also seen them in debenhams

TeamGlaikitBritain · 08/08/2012 16:49

Thanks kitty, will have a look online see what I can get.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 08/08/2012 18:00

Poor B. Have a look for a non chemical sunscreen in a local health food shop, or Liz Earle do one. Pricey, but if they work you don't really have much choice do you?

The whole sun hat thing drives me potty, I want to nail the fecking things to their head Blush I have found getting one that is a bit big works the best as they don't feel it so much. But mostly it is just repitition and putting it back on each time they take it off

Starshaped · 08/08/2012 20:10

Awh, poor B :(

Repetition is the only thing that seems to have solved the sun hat problem here too. It appears to be the only battle we're winning at the moment though. DD is being a right monkey at present - it's tiring just being round her!

Thank goodness for MrsW and Gsy - I didn't have a clue who the handsome chap in Fizz's photo was either. I was beginning to worry that I must be turning into my mum! I'm using the fact that I don't watch BGT as an excuse (hope that's where he's from anyway!).

Daisy17 · 08/08/2012 20:31

I have found a Sudocrem and a Bepanthen suncream, both in Boots I think. Not exactly non-chemical but I think milder because of the nappy cream credentials! S very sensitive but ok with these.....

Kittycatcat · 08/08/2012 22:25

I've just been tgi with two mates. The waitress asked me to stand on my chair (I was tucked into the corner of a booth with no room to move) so they could sing to me. No chance said I. Giving birth in 6 weeks!

MrsWajs · 09/08/2012 10:01

I once missed a patch behind Rs ear with the suncream and she ended up with a bright red patch!! Didn't seem to phase her too much but I was practically having heart failure!! Now it's smothered ALL over her if she's out in the sun, to the point of looking ridiculous, but I don't care!

I feel your pain if you have to fork out for a particular cream Fizz I can only use Piz Buin Oil Free on myself because of prickly heat and it costs a bloody fortune! It annoys me so much that DP can just nip to boots and pick up the cheapest cream there is and I'm forking out megabucks for mine. It annoys me even more when he uses mine cus his has run out!! Angry

R hates wearing her sunhat too so seems to be a universal thing with kids!

Was the TGI waitress serious kitty? Surely she could see you were heavily pregnant!?

R was a complete nightmare to drop off at nursery this morning, cried when I took her shoes off and was trying to put them back on shouting "no, no, no!" then became limpet baby when I tried to put her down/hand her over to staff. She loves nursery too but she's been like this the last 2 weeks I've dropped her off.

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 09/08/2012 10:09

That must be tough MrsW. Ds3 had a short phase a few weeks ago of being a Velcro baby. If anyone said hello to him he would turn away and run behind my legs. It seems to have past as soon as it appeared, I hope it's the same for you.

Was it your birthday Kitty? If so, belated good wishes. Your TGI Friday story makes me think of that Catherine Tate sketch Grin

Off out to meet up with some friends today at a local lake and park. I thought I would be putting suncream in the cool bag, however it's going to be jumpers instead. There was mist here this morning. Bloody MIST! It's August not October Confused

Kittycatcat · 09/08/2012 10:52

She was v serious. Asked me to dance in my seat then. Erm.

We had mist too.

Birthday is tomorrow. 37!!! My mates last night asked how I felt about it and do you know for once it doesn't bother me. I'm where I want to be. Married with almost two children Grin

TeamGlaikitBritain · 09/08/2012 10:56

kitty you are my birthday twin. aren't you?!

I.hate tgis for their.overly American whoop whooping and uber keen waitresses! I its want to eat and.leave not get in to a debate with my server over the usefulness of sticky back plastic!

b is much better to, still puffy but fortunately the weather rubbish today so he won't need sun protection!

Kittycatcat · 09/08/2012 11:20

Yay birthday twin.

I love their food but not their nonsense Wink

TeamGlaikitBritain · 09/08/2012 13:04

Tomorrow is the 10th anniversary of my 21st! And kitty, I agree with you, I'm a lot less bothered about my age this year than I was last year. I'm in a happy place!

JoEW · 09/08/2012 13:40

Happy birthday Fizz and Kitty!

I didn't realise tgis still existed. Love that they tried to get you to stand on a chair. Ha. I would refuse, regardless. Meh.

Hope B is better today, poor little thing. And how inconvenient to be allergic to suncream. Good luck finding something that works.

MrsW, we also have different creams for DH and me. I have a posh one and he has whatever is on special in Boots. He slathers it on. Hope R improves at nursery. Have a word with the staff if not. I did that with C, when we moved to a new nursery. He would wail with big tears rolling down his cheeks, it's heartbreaking. Now they come over and ask him for a cuddle then take him off to look at the fish or the garden and I wave goodbye. It works pretty well.

I like your sleep theory Daisy, I also think he wants the company. We've been having a run of great nights but we're off to the New Forest on Saturday so a change and the travel cot will probably ruin that. Gawd bless him.

Kittycatcat · 10/08/2012 07:13

Happy birthday fizz. Hope you have a lovely day and get v spoilt x

TeamGlaikitBritain · 10/08/2012 11:07

You too kitty! I'll have some Wine for you!!

MrsWajs · 10/08/2012 13:13

Happy Birthday Kitty Thanks and Fizz Wine :)

UnderwaterBasketWeaving · 10/08/2012 19:34

Happy Birthday Kitty & Fizz!

I wonder if anyone has any suggestions for this:

F is rapidly becoming a nightmare at bedtime. It took 3 hours to get him to sleep last night, and tonight appears to be going the same way.

It only took an hour tonight. Although it's quite traumatic for us both. He used to settle himself beautifully. Is this a heat thing? Or because I'm at home for the summer and he's missing the cm and his mates? Or an age thing?

In other news: had his 12 month dev check yesterday (he's 26mo Hmm) and wad given a leaflet "how to talk to your baby: 0-3 Months"

Yeah, good use of funds & resources NHS, and so useful too.

Are they actually supposed to do anything at those checks? Because the woman just ticked off a questionnaire which we could have made all sorts of stuff up about, and barely even looked at F. And told us to put stair gates up.

I was expecting more like a check of his actual development

TeamGlaikitBritain · 10/08/2012 19:53

Hmm, well at Bs mmr they asked vague questions like does he pull himself up, as he ran across the room Hmm, does he vocalise, as he shouted Da at the top of his voice. Tbh they were more interested in his skinned knee from when he fell. How did he do it, where were you, did it bleed Confused. What do they think I did, take a cheese grater to him?
