Arse, I want to do a little to sort out the righst state of my garden and it's raining!... Think will layer up and ask DH to have DS inside so i can at least have a stab at it.
Step one: fill beeb full of milk..... Prepare Sippycup as alternative spitout option for later...

NorthernChinchilla · 07/05/2012 10:24

When the tamogochi (sp?) phase was at the height of its madness about 15 years ago my Dad had a colleague who had to look after the damn thing during the day. He worked for massive multi-national company, not really the type where leaping up to 'clean' your 8 year old's electronic pet during a meeting was received well...

Herman feeding looks rather fun though LMF! Have you got another bad headache today?

To be honest Sorelip, I know how you feel. It would be financially impossible, we have zero family or friends to support us, DP would have to give up work, we may well get one who wasn't as amenable as DS, and I'd still like to have the odd dozen one more, tomorrow soon if possible.
The way to look at it may be to make the agreement in principle that you'll definitely have another, to kind of calm the ovaries, but put a time limit on it- say, when DS is nine months or something?

Sounds glorious HLC, and I DO apologise for offending your lady principles with mention of passing wind Wink! Past couple of mornings DP and I have climbed into bed whilst DS has his first nap, it's been great.

Think it will be a trip to the garden centre today- as we've had nothing but rain, I've not been able to get out to tend the garden as much, and it brings out the snails (and washes away the slug pellets) so my poor new clematis have been decimated Sad.

LittleMissFlustered · 07/05/2012 10:49

Start a Herman and share the love!

Yes, headache central. Tried getting rid of it last night, but the broken sleep worked against me. I've just downed a coffe and some ibu and a million crispy bun so it's on with the domestic stuff while Octoboy watches the news piece on The Killing. Do you think he'd like a nice fair isle jumper? Wink

Oh dear bob, I swear my gut has turned into a nuclear reactor. The stench is enough to kill an elephant. Frigging banana cake (but it was sooooo tasty!)

Ellis must have heard me talking last night, and decided to show me why he should remain an only child. The screams, oh god the screams. However, this morning he is back to his lovely self.

Where to go today when it's pissing down...

aethelfleda · 07/05/2012 11:08

I saw a friend yesterday for a coffee (great to see her), who has three and cheerfully informed me that her second would never take a bottle until at eight months she put on three vests, went cold turkey and the baby held out for a full 24 hours before talking a bottle grudgingly. Within 4 days baby was fine though my friend was extremely uncomfy stopping that fast. I don't like cold turkey as it blows my rosy idea of continuing morning-and-night BFing right out of the water. I have a sneaky suspicion that I did cold turkey with DD1 (due to the teeth!) and have forgotten about it though!

Today's experiment was EBM in a sippy cup: he quite liked holding it and did chew on the teat a bit, though I don't think he did any more than taste it. It's looking increasingly likely I'm just going to build up a supply of EBM, switch him over at some point in the summer hols, and that will have to be that.

KateM77 · 07/05/2012 11:17

After weeks of only one night feed at 3am or later, it was a shock to the system when DS also woke at 11.20pm last night

I'm feeding DS and watching the programme about building the shard. My office is just over the river so I used to see its progress each day. Making me feel a bit weird about never going back to work.

We've got the hairy bikers pies book and have been making lots of things from that recently. Yesterday I did cheese and onion pasties and today DH is going to do smoked haddock and spinach pies. Not great for the diet, but yummy. And I'll have some haddock knocking about if anyone needs some

aethelfleda · 07/05/2012 11:55

Mmmmm. Pie.

watching Back To The Future with the DDs while I feed Mr Humgry Monster AGAIN. My word, the language is Hmm given it's a PG.. I've only seen the for-TV version before and this is the DVD: there are a lot of Oh My Gods, some You Bastards, lots of Asses and one son-of-a-bitch!

NorthernChinchilla · 07/05/2012 12:12

It's chicken, leek and ham pie here today Kate. I'm a great believer in 'what can you stretch a roast chicken out to' and a couple of pies does dinner for two days with little effort.
DS helped me strip the chicken whilst the cookies baked this morning Smile

Hope the head sorts out LMF, take some paracetmol on top of the ibuprofen if you're not having any joy. I'm sure the boy would look lovely in a Fairisle (my Mum did one for DS) but with all those arms can you imagine the cost of the wool Wink?!

What was up with Ellis do you think Sorelip? Sounds like he really put you through the mill.

I could not have done total cold turkey aethel, my boobs would've exploded!

Sorelip · 07/05/2012 12:24

Northern I think he was overtired. Refused to take a bottle and everything! DH got him to sleep in the end in his pram. Fell asleep almost as soon as he touched it.

We are going to Toys R Us today. Question - why did someone think that a backwards R was a good idea?

DH has got me reading the Wheel of Time books. He loves them and is very excited that I have started the second book. A good time for me to open negotiations re TTCing...

Sorelip · 07/05/2012 12:27

Another question - does anyone else have hands that look and feel like they belong to a builder? Rough as arseholes doesn't quite cover it!

LittleMissFlustered · 07/05/2012 12:45

Moisturise! Doesn't have to be expensive stuff, but every time you wash your hands blob some lotion on after. Keep a tube in your bag too, and in winter I recommend the Norwegian stuff as it is the business for poor pram pushing hands:)

Sorelip I carry hand gel with me every where I go. One in my buggy, One in the car & One in my changing/handbag. I constantly wash my hands and have hand gel on as like you my hands feel so ruff!

Starving hungry. DP is making me & Darcie dinner yum.

Feel sorry for DP poor bugger is supposed to be having the bank holiday off with us and is having to work because someone cocked up something over the weekend and he needs to get it fixed ASAP before rolled out to the customer! So I'm his tea wench today lol Grin

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 07/05/2012 12:55

Northern Darcie loves my homemade pies. Will be making a chicken pie for Sunday dinner next week.

My stroganoff & cake went down well with the family yesterday, so pleased about that.

Meal planner for the week.
Tues: Lasagne & Salad
Weds: Cottage Pie & Veg
Thurs: Chicken Stuffed with Garlic Philli, Wrapped in Palma ham, with cheesy potatoes & steamed veg
Fri: Sausage, Egg n Chips!
Sat: Not sure yet!
Sun: Chicken pie & veg

KateM77 · 07/05/2012 13:31

Northern DH is desperate to try out all the meat recipes, but as I don't eat meat we need to invite some people over to help him eat them first! On that note, and just being nosey....Honey is your DP veggie too, or will you be having the arguments over whether Rocco eats meat or not? We argued a lot about it with DD, and eventually settled on her having meat if DH cooked it for her. I only prepare her veg and fish things, and she now has meat at nursery too. When she's old enough, she can decide for herself what she wants to eat. We'll obviously take the same approach with DS.

DeterminedandSpecialMum · 07/05/2012 14:05

Sky loves Hipp Organic Banana & Peach Porridge (Not jarred is the boxed powders) so will be taking a trip to boots on weds - can't tomorrow as my new IPhone is being delivered Grin

seven77 · 07/05/2012 15:05

sorelip do you have a cold water steriliser by any chance? Milton really dries my hands out, I keep a pot of atrixo by the sink now.

dsm Thursday sounds lush.

I took DS to the park near my parents house and the elder trees are in bloom already. I picked elderflowers to make into elderflower wine, now I just need to go to tesco for lemons and sugar. Eva has been in an overtired grump most of the day. I just put her in the bouncy chair while I heated a bottle and she's now asleep, grr.

Introducing gluten from 6 months - does it matter that she was premature?

HoneyLovesCake · 07/05/2012 15:32

We're both veggie Kate. Certainly makes life easier, not sure I'd trust myself to cook meat as I've been veggie since I was 10 & might poison someone! That being said I did xmas dinner at the in-laws a few years back & successfully cooked a massive turkey with Delia's help; apparently overcooked the beef though...oops.

Rocco will eat mostly veggie with some wild fish as I do all the cooking. Farmed fish freaks me out.

hawthers · 07/05/2012 16:28

DS1 was prem but we were advised to wean on actual age rather than corrected. Hth

AWomanCalledHorse · 07/05/2012 18:39

Oh seven, I hope looking after her goes quickly for your mum...is there anyone she can pass DN too for a day/few hours to give her some rest?

I want to get having children out of the way asap for a few reasons; PIL are nearing their mid 60's and I'd like DC to have a relationship with them. DH is 35 & doesn't want a baby in his 40s, I'd like to know when I could have my body back asap, we'd like to move soon so it would be nice to know how much ££ we need. Plus babies are squishy!!

athel, your post reminded me; I've stopped watching 15/18 rated stuff with DS.

sore I use the simple hand cream after I wash my hands. Has really helped with the chapping.

Just done our first Ocado order, we're moving up in the world!! Is there anything really fabby they do that I can't get in Tesco?

Oooh elderflower wine seven

mopsytop · 07/05/2012 19:25

seven mmmm elderflower wine-yum!!! Elderflower anything really is yum!

LittleMissFlustered · 07/05/2012 19:48

Been feeding since seven, it's a frantic two-side affair tonight. Here's hoping it means he's going back to a four/five hour stint then a short feed and another three hours.

OP posts:
KateM77 · 07/05/2012 20:13

lmf fingers crossed the long feed results in a long sleep.

honey very brave of you to cook that Xmas dinner. I wouldn't have a clue what to do and I can't bring myself to touch meat

NorthernChinchilla · 07/05/2012 20:37

Hope you get some good kip LMF.

Agree re moisturiser- took me ages to clock that was what I needed to do, and just bobbed a small pot of Body Shop stuff in DS's change basket, so when I've done my hands I just rub some on, and it does help.

Pie is ready to go- I use some of the butter/Martini/pepper juice from having softened the leeks in the white sauce, gives it a bit of bite. That was very brave of you cooking that HLC, but how come it fell to you?!

One of the new clematis bloody broke at the bottom of the bloody stem as I was bloody potting it up- not happy at all. God know what sort of flowers we'll get off any of them given the crappy weather- and all sorts is flowering in the back garden at the moment, but because of the weather we're not actually getting to enjoy it.
Humph.

We're off up North again on Wednesday night, feels like we never stop! But it's been lovely having a long weekend with my boys, and I really feel lucky and happy to have what I do Smile.

AnAirOfHope · 07/05/2012 20:57

Took the kids swimming.

Hope was ok but not too impressed. She didnt cry she just didnt laugh. She is so different to aaron.

Also two of his friends were there from nursary having swimming lessions. Cue major bad mum guilt from me. I had to tell.air he couldnt go as hadnt booked him the lessons and his friends had to go but he couldnt. And then i went to take him on the water slide and got told at the top he had to be 8 so we had to come back down cue huge tantrum :(

Air went to his first kids party yeasterday and i took my camera turned it on but the battry was flat :(

now its pizza and cat in the hat dvd. Aaron is laughing his head off. Hope has been sleeping since swimming just waking up for food :)

seven77 · 07/05/2012 21:36

hawthers thanks, I was advised by HV to use corrected age for prem DS but she didn't seem certain. Since joining MN I've learnt that most HV don't know what they're talking about, I trust the collective thread wisdom more :o

air sorry the swimming didn't go as planned. It always amazes me how different my two are.

LMF hope you get some sleep.

AWCH we're already trying for DC3. DH is 40 and has an exhausting job, I worry how he'd cope if we waited too long. And also as much as I love them when they're babies I want to get the sleepless nights out of the way and the baby stage done. Also DS will probably be in a wheelchair in around 6-8 years, if we wait too long I'm afraid he'll be too dependent and we'll decide it isn't fair to have another one.
