Congratulations Kayz Grin well done you and how lovely that 2 of our thread babies share a birthday (happy birthday pru Smile).

That was quite quick - gosh and presumably you had your home birth. Hope you are enjoying getting to know each other and that the boys are excited. Such lovely news to start the day with. Hurrah Grin

KiwiPanda · 20/06/2012 06:28

Hooray congratulations Kayz and welcome to the world Rosalie (which naturally I think is the best name EVER)! You are rather bigger than my Rosalie was, well done clever baby Grin
Hope you getting some rest now Kayz!

And morning everyone. Random thing - does anyone else think its really weird when people find out the sex of their baby at 20 weeks but "keep it secret". Why?!? Surely it's only you as the parents that really care, why treat it like a lovely surprise for other people who ultimately don't care one way or the other?!!

McKayz · 20/06/2012 07:21

The boys are besotted. DS1 is just lying staring at her.

Rubena · 20/06/2012 07:29

Hello,
Lovely news congrats Kayz!!!!!

Sorry to read about your DS, things will improve. Brilliant job on the weight loss.
Happy birthday Pru! And fantastic news with your dad Beans. Am the same with dd cannot believe she's nearly two. Been in a bed s month now and hard to believe I may see the end of nappies soon too! (thank God)
Veggie you asked me something ages back but I've had to read so much I've totally forgotten it ( and loads more) ! Can you remember?

Lady hope your trip with the girls is lovely! I enjoy your twitter updates!

First obv for deids !

Indith · 20/06/2012 07:58

congratulations

VagolaJahooli · 20/06/2012 08:13

Yay Kayz. There is no way you could have had a hospital birth if you'd wanted it, you wouldn't have made it in. Looking forward to hearing your birthstory, though there isn't much after you stopped posting here I imagine. :) well done Kayz. Nolda was the time guess winner, and I think Obe was closest with the weight.

Beans36 · 20/06/2012 08:29

HURRAH! MASSIVE CONGRATS ON THE ARRIVAL OF ROSALIE! A stunning name! You've done so well, Kayz!

Pru arrived at 2.10am, so they're not far apart. What a wonderful lovely thing! Hurray!

xx

Obergene · 20/06/2012 08:33

Congratulations Kayz! Well done on propelling little R into the world so quickly and efficiently. Have you managed to get hold of your DH to tell him?

Beans, I forgot to say yesterday that I am so pleased that your dad is keeping the cancer at bay. Happy Birthday to Pru for today!

Kiwi, I wanted to keep are scan results secret but my big mouth let me down. I guess I thought it would make the birth announcement more exciting.

Rubes, when is A's birthday? We fly to the States on 20/7. We are flying Virgin to SFO. Any chance you'll be on our flight? How funny would that be?!

Deids I also forgot to congratulate you on the amazing 22lbs shred. I had been going to boast that I am now exactly 1 stone lighter than three months ago but now that feels peanuts. How far much do you hope to lose? I want another 6 lbs off to get my BMI to 20.

VagolaJahooli · 20/06/2012 08:47

Rubes I've no idea what I asked. How cool would it be if you were on Obes flight!

Happy birthday to baby Pru, what are you doing today Beans?

Kayz with all the growth scans they did what did they end up deciding she would be, and what were they going to do if she was considered big on the growth scan. Cos she is no titch and you managed quite well without their meddling. I must ask, did you get some gas & air. A friend and I were recently discussing the virtues of G&A, lovely stuff.

Beans36 · 20/06/2012 08:48

Obes - 1 stone is amazing! I am jealous. I finally got down to 10 stone 8, which is still heavy. On holiday I managed to go up to 11 stone again! But am back to 10 stone 10 now, so fingers crossed I can lose another half stone, then I'll be happy!

Beans36 · 20/06/2012 08:49

Today, we are hanging out with Granny! Izz off to school in a min, then we're going to have a bit of a play, then MIL coming round at lunchtime. Perfect!

McKayz · 20/06/2012 08:52

Vag, they thought 9lb 14oz. So not a huge way out but about half a pound.

They werent going to do anything really. She was measuring an average weight but just on the big side.

KiwiPanda · 20/06/2012 09:10

Kayz I want to know how DH heard the news and what he said too!

Beans I think you are more excited by Pru by her birthday, aren't you!? Incidentally 10 stone 8 to 11 stone is hardly a huge jump, that's really just a few weeks of being good and doign more exercise Grin. I highly recommend becoming obsessed to the point of dreaming about it with running for weight loss. I can't seem to stop losing it now. Oh god that sounds so smug. But you know what I mean. I was 10 stone 10 after DD2 was born and am now 8 stone 12.

Ok so Obs and Rub - I still don't get it. If you want a surprise, surely it's a surprise for YOU to find out or not...?! Isn't it a bit strange to say "Hey, this is MY baby, I'm going to surprise YOU with it's gender, which I know already!"??? If surprise is important to you, why find out at all???? Sorry I don't know why this bothers me really, each to their own I suppose. It's just that this is my brother-in-law (DH's brother) and wife, adn there are already grandchildren on both sides, both girls and boys. I can't imagine my PIL being any more or less excited with a new grandchild because they didn't know the gender before. When they find out it'll be by phone or text, and since my MIL is deaf it'll be my FIL getting the news, and he doesn't get really excited about anything (well, he does, but not as as you would hear it on the phone IYSWIM) so will probably just go "that's nice" and have a celebratory glass of wine.

Crikey, that means my boys are on the ickle side at 8lb. I swear they keep changing their minds, I knew a girl who was told after she had, had a perfectly healthy birth through her bits, that as her bub was 10lb, she should have had a CS to reduce the risk of complications. Maybe they have finally adjusted the averages. Babies are a lot bigger these days I'm sure. I love your FB photo, she is so perfect. Please tell us what DH thinks, he must be over the moon. Any chance at all they can send him home early? When is he due home?

Kiwi, do they have a preference for sex either way? Maybe they just like the mystery. My SIL did this and I never really understood why, but maybe it just made it a bit of fun to keep people guessing, esp all the old wives who try to work it out with their 'instincts' or ESP.

DH has an interview for a big contract today. It will be work through his own company, but the other company that he is a co-founder with is also kicking off, through his UK contacts it looks like they have won a contract for the specialization they are aiming for in the middle east. It is brilliant because it legitimizes the company as a player in this area, and it makes DH quite valuable as a co-founder. The other guy has done quite a bit of work setting up and it was starting to look like DH had just waltzed in, but because of his reputation they got this job so he is definitely a big asset to the company.

Beans36 · 20/06/2012 10:23

My two were 6lbs 13, so total weiners. Thank goodness.

Does anyone else still have piles since giving birth? I do from DD2 and I'm not sure how to get rid of it. It doesn't really bother me, but probably rather unsightly. Not that anyone is every looking at my anus!

I'm with you, Kiwi. Although I don't think I feel quite as strongly as you clearly do! I like having a surprise myself, too!

I'm going running tomorrow morning, as both girls back in childcare. Hurrah! Oh and am going to resign from my job.

JollyBear · 20/06/2012 10:51

Congratulations Kayz! Welcome to the world baby R :)

Happy birthday to Pru! Glad it is a nice sunny day. We have that paddling pool beans. Great news about your dad.

Rubena · 20/06/2012 11:00

Obes - It would be funny if I was rostered it as I don't work that much to be fair (maybe two quick trips a month) I tend to request shorter trips so I'm only away a night stop ie NY, Boston and Dubai etc but do the odd longer one now and then. Need to get to SF actually as DH hasn't seen his Aunty in ages and he wants to come next time I go! I'm suppose to go to Delhi that w'end but doing my best to swap out of it!
If I know of anyone on it I'll let them know to take extra care of you, but at the very least I'll try to remember to put in a form for you (for friends on flight etc!)
What cabin are you in?
Kiwi - for me it was several reasons. Everyone was bugging the hell out of me to find out but I wanted to surprise my family mainly as a couple of them didn't want to know so if anyone at all knew (except us) it would have got out. I think it's always nice to announce the birth but even more exciting if the gender is a surprise. I also needed to prevent mil knitting too many pink cardi's! Although that didn't work as after she found out she admitted to already knitting two pink things just in case! [grr] I've never really understood the fascination with announcing the birth weight though! Confused
Right I'm off for a couple of drinks in the sun! Hope it stays out Smile

McKayz · 20/06/2012 11:01

I'm trying to work out if I should wake her up. She's bed. Asleep since about 5 now and I don't know if I should leave her.

She's just had a nappy change which annoyed her but she went straight back to sleep.

Beans36 · 20/06/2012 11:29

I'd leave her, Kayz - and try and get a bit of a snooze in yourself! She'll be awake a lot soon enough!

xx
