Rubena · 01/06/2012 13:30

Thanks Obe! - but, I think your question has clearly been answered since my last post after a 6 week absence! Smile

VagolaJahooli · 01/06/2012 14:25

Hey Rubes, where you off to next for work? How's is the new nursery going for your 2? Your DH was right about my SIL, her baby is six months old and she is still saying she is too weak and in pain to look after her baby on her own. Still my MIL goes in three times a week and my BIL her DH looks after the baby the other 2 days and overnight. However, my MIL said she noticed that when she is there she gets up wanders around, goes out shopping and for a swim, but as soon as her DH gets back she is straight into bed and playing the sick role. She doesn't seem to be having any physio but is still seeing some Consultants. Is it mean of me to think she is just manipulative and/or inately weak. I think she just needs to get over it. I'd love to spend time with my little niece, but she doesn't seem at all bonded with her child. I guess that's why they say its important to bond early.

Obe I'm looking forward to hearing whether your DD reveals her front bottom to Her Majesty.

Kiwi, no idea what to write on that key, is there a song title or line that you & DH know that is special to you?

Sybs, nightmare on the MIL descention! How very rude of her!

Invis yay for NYC.

Beans where are you off to?

I'm in a really grumpy mood at the moment, I think its because its school holidays, DH is busy with new business stuff and I just want a little break, just a few hours. DS2 is being a little testing (large understatement there) & DS1 could talk for England & Australia! The child doesn't shut up. I adore him but its doing my head in. I might wangle a couple of hours off tomorrow. DH has taken DS1 rockclimbing this afternoon but I really could have done with him taking them both.

Beans36 · 01/06/2012 14:54

Vag! So with you on the non-stop talking. DD1 witters on ceaselessly, mostly about made up things and imaginary friends or animals with ridiculous made up names. I know I should appreciate this age and enjoy it, but it starting to drive me marginally bonkers! It's endless and I found myself telling her to just shut up for 5 mins the other day! I adore her, but please! Some silence is gooooood!

Now got them doing play-doh next door while I type this. She's still chattering away to DD2, who seems oblivious and just gives the odd reply or smack!

We're off to Greece, Vag. So very very excited about it!

traceface · 01/06/2012 20:53

hello ladies :)
sorry for radio silence - again!
No excuses.
I've caught up but forgotten lots!
kayz - that man was very very rude and wrong. Poo to him. I echo what Jolly said - you are young and beautiful and carrying a precious life in you. Hope you're feeling a bit brighter now, especially as the weather has cooled off.
ZJ weight watchers? Really? But you have a such a young nipper! Hope you're not aiming to lose much. Have you been involved in the York 800 events? I'm involved in the Eborvox thing - lots of voices singing at various points around the city, down the river etc. Sounds exciting!
obe i'm glad you had a positive time with the camping and the nursery day. As for the bad times - I'd be inclined to pull back on the days. I think school is quite a way in the distance so even if you stepped it back for a few months, there's plenty of time to build it back up again. Anyway, lets hope the happier day is the first of many.
ladyt sounds like you had a lovely time away. Very nice :)
Rubs we miss you when you're not here - please don't think your posts are not exciting enough - I think my mine are largely very dull! It's just good to hear how everything is going xxx
kiwi I'm so impressed with your running. Well done on your race! Glad the foot didn't let you down. I'm going through a rubbish patch with my running at the mo but I'm trying not to worry about it.
Things here are ok. Poor Phoebs has been in the wars. Last week Lu managed to slam the car door on Phoebe's fingers - her fingers were trapped and I had to open the door to let them out Sad One just bruised, another quite mangled, but the practice nurse but steri-strips and bandage on so it's all on the mend now. Still quite swollen and very purple, but hopefully no lasting damage. it was very hard not to be very cross with Lu. Then P has been really miserable for a few days and so I took her to the GP yesterday and she has an ear infection, so now she's on antibiotics. She seemed a bit brighter today so hopefully she'll be back to herself soon. She is still sleeping terribly though. Even when she's not ill, she's up for hours every night and I just don't know how long I can do this for. I'm exhausted. But anyway I've moaned about that enough times. yawn. Literally.
We've got a few plans for half term - mainly going to see friends or friends coming to us - but nothing major. House move is still going ahead, although our buyers still don't have a mortgage sorted but they assure us they're sorting it out.
Anyway I'm sleepy so I'll get me to bed.
Night night all xxx

KiwiPanda · 01/06/2012 21:05

Vag and Beans I once bet DD1 a packet of chocolate buttons that she couldn't be quiet and not talk for 5 whole minutes. She lasted 35 seconds Wink
On a good day it's cute but on a tired day my GOD I wish she had a mute button...

OP posts:
TheInvisibleHand · 01/06/2012 22:24

At the moment I'm hoping to negotiate a trip to New York, not quite managed it yet! If I pull it off, I am taking you all vicariously with me!

Vag - the ardennes thing is near a village called Gesves, quite near Mozet. No idea really. Off there at the end of July. In the meantime, we're off to Israel on Sunday, so will be some sun and beach with any luck...

Trace - poor P. She'll be right as rain soon enough, but it is miserable when they are. I still shudder at squashed fingers, we've had more than our fair share as DS seems to be on a mission with his.

Rubes - nice to see you!

JumpJockey · 04/06/2012 09:28

Hello all, gosh you're quiet for once Wink Well I'm stuck at work today and tomorrow so will try and do some sneaky catching up in amongst the dealing with no readers. Have sent girls off to nursery in RWB clothes and will be frantically stapling felt tonight to make proper costumes for their party tomorrow. Am feeling v patriotic (even if DH is being all scottish and grumpy...), even slightly hormonal in that I read an editorial all about how wonderfully proud we are of Maj (in Country Life of all places...!!!) and found myself welling up a little bit. And when they played the Old Hundredth on the radio this morning. Cripes. My excuse is that as a historian I have a great sense of the heritage of our nation, blah blah, and so the royal family is jolly important. That's my excuse anyway! And have planted up a little pot with white chrysanthemums, red geraniums and blue cornflowers to go by the front door :)

Have to say, those of you posting jubilee pics on FB look to be having a top old time! Grin

VagolaJahooli · 04/06/2012 18:09

I thought it was a bank holiday?

ZuleikaJambiere · 04/06/2012 21:31

Crown Happy jubilee everyone Crown, I hope you've all enjoyed the celebrations? Did her majesty get a view of DD2s front bum, Obe?! We've had a great weekend, so much going on in the village. And I'm getting a bit emotional about the Queen too Jump, she's the same age as my Gran, and each of her DCs are the same age as my Dad and his sisters and brother - must be my hormones!

I have taken so long writing this post, it started with 'happy holiday Beans', not referring to her current trip, but her previous one! To everyone else who went camping (Obe, Veg and Deids), welcome back. And Sybs and Indith (and anyone else going soon) enjoy your hols. Talking of which, where are you visiting this month LadyT?

Spot your hospital dash with B sounded scary, I hope he is all better now? How is T at bedtime at the moment?

I hope you're finding the cooler weather better Kayz? And have you got over your awful day - to steal DDs preferred insult, what a donker! (although I thought 'dickweed' was far better). I'd love to reassure you that it all comes flooding back, but after DDs first feed, I had to ask the MW to show me how to wind her Blush

Obes have you made any decisions about DD2 at pre school? It sounds really hard (and I don't know what I'd do, in your shoes)

Urbs' post about your delightful DD2 and frustrating, messy DH sounds just like my family. I can't believe how wonderfully content my DD2 is, given she seems to be ignored all the time as I negotiate with DD1 (she's good, and cunning, at getting her own way, little minx) or tidy up after DH. I feel so neglectful of her (is that a word)?), yet all I have to do is wave across the room and I get the most beautiful smile

Harking back to an old conversation about G&Ts - I never used to like it, but post pregnancy I love the stuff, have no idea why that happened but it's fine by me. I'm a Tanqueray girl (funds permitting)

Well done on the running Kiwi

My friend has recently sold her DDs happy land stuff on eBay Beans, and she's got some really good money for it, almost the purchase price in some cases - so a good investment I'd say. Happy birthday to DD2, can't believe she'll be 2!

Can't believe you got 9hrs sleep when solo parenting Mom - amazing!

Hi Trace I haven't been much involved in York800, and in fact I think I'll miss it as we're going away that week. There were plans to do a flotilla of 800 boats on the river - I'd love to see if that comes off, the Ouse is a tad smaller than the Thames and I can't quite see it working. I'm only weight watching in the run up to my sis' wedding, and it takes into account the fact I'm BF - normally I'd be allowed 28 points a day, but because of the BF I'm allowed 40! I've lost 3lbs and I'm hoping to lose another lb each week for the next 4 weeks - and then I'm back on the cake! Annoyingly, I can't do much in the way of exercise yet (SPD not fully cleared up), which I'd prefer to do than diet TBH. I hope Ps fingers and ears are all mending, poor love

So the SPD, I went back to the physio last week, and apparently the hormone that stretches everything in pregnancy (relaxin?) doesn't stop being produced until 6 whole months after I stop BF!! He gave me some more exercises, and ... get this ... he was very impressed with my pelvic floor strength (clearly had very low expectations, after my last visit Blush, but still there's a compliment in there somewhere!)

Right, hog roast and band at the village hall beckons Crown. Ta ra everyone

DeidreBarlow · 05/06/2012 07:41

Morning all!

I know from FB a good few of you were watching the Jubilee concert - it was good wasn't it? I thought Prince Charles did a lovely little speech , yet I felt really sad for her Maj that her DH was in hospital.

We were supposed to be camping in Wales this week but it had given a rather wet & windy forecast forecast of the week, so we cancelledSad. As much as I love camping its no fun trying to get a tent up in 26mph winds! Even the lady who runs the site said it was rubbish weather, she had lots cancel. So its a week of day trips for us. Took DC to the World museum in Liverpool yesterday. Brilliant. Although DD was going on for ages about wanting to see the Egyptian section...she went really quiet though when she got to the mummies. 10.30pm last night little feet on the stairs and I had to have a rather long chat with a clearly scared DD that mummies don't come back from the dead like they do in Scooby Do!

ZJ Hope the SPD clears up soon. I had it very mildly with DS & even that hurt like hell.

Hope everyone else is having fun x

JollyBear · 05/06/2012 20:48

Hello everyone,

That is sweet DB, I didn't know Scooby Foo was still on!

Hello Trace, lovely to hear from you. Sorry your buyers are dragging their feet a bit. Poor P, awful when they trap their fingers.

ZJ I can believe the extra bf points! I've put a fair few pounds on since stopping. Well done on the loss so far.

Invisible Have a good trip!

We've had a good weekend. Took L to the ballet on Saturday (get us!). A production for children and it was wonderful. L was captivated. I'd recommend it. Went to a village gala too. Lovely and patriotic.

I look forward to hearing what you've all been up to. Especially Obes, your view of tje flotilla must have been amazing.

KiwiPanda · 07/06/2012 18:09

Hello all, quiet today! I am just back from trip to doctor for DD1s booster shots. Oh the drama. She's asked me 8282482928 times if she has to have any more injections. I LIED. (said no never, think when she's 12 she'll realise I lied and sue me?)

OP posts:
JollyBear · 07/06/2012 20:35

Kiwi She'll forget your promise! I do remember my boosters though. The Dr promised it wouldn't hurt. Liar!

Have to share a comment dd made today.

'Grandma and grandad (in laws) are coming tomorrow'
Dd1 'Really? Quick wipe everything'.

So true too! We have to clean like demons when they are coming!

Where is everyone?

LadyThompson · 07/06/2012 23:47

I'm here, JB and lovely ladies! Only for a few moments, sadly, as it's time for bed for me and I am off to Girona tomorrow for the weekend and then taking BOTH GIRLS, alone, to Spain again for a weekend 17-20 June....am losing my bottle a bit now, I must admit. When I am on the plane tomorrow I know it's going to hit me how hard it's going to be with two nippers the following week. But hey, it's a short haul plane trip, not going down the mine, so I mustn't be too woe-is-me Grin

The reason why I haven't been around is that I had a lovely big long trip to Mum's, then got back in time for the Jubilee weekend whereupon we went to MIL's. Then DP had a gig with one of the bands he plays with on Bank Holiday Monday, then on Tuesday I had a cheeky nip to London to see a couple of mates. Which was just fab. And since then, just the usual crazy!

I keep scheduling time to come on here and say what I want to say to you all. If I say 'back tomorrow' you probably won't take me seriously (but I really am going to try to, and want to!) For instance, this afternoon I spent hours (literally) sorting out life insurance, buildings and contents insurance (can I tell you it expired 6 whole months ago and in that time we have been without cover - idiocy Shock) and an annual travel insurance policy as the one I used to have doesn't cover me any more. I am now ££ lighter, but at least I won't have palpitations when I wake up in the night any more, realising another day has gone by when I haven't sorted all the insurance.

Anyway, off to bed with me. Love to you all.

McKayz · 08/06/2012 22:35

Evening.

Just a quick post to say that I'm still very pregnant and still very fed up Smile
I was really hoping to have her this week as with it being half term it would have been much easier with regards to school runs etc.

Will try and get back tomorrow for a proper catch up.

Hops you're all well.

VagolaJahooli · 09/06/2012 19:16

Oh Kayz poor you. I don't know how you do it with the 2 boys at home and no DH. How is the heartburn? Have to say I am quite excited that it is so soon. But seriously someone else needs to get up the duff.

So shattered tonight, had an early training session with some friends and i love this early Saturday session but I'm so tired now, the girl who takes the group is off to Canada in 2 weeks so I think she is ramping up the sessions to get us into shape as she will be away for 2 months. I have a race tomorrow just 5 km but want to do it as fast as possible.

Lady looking forward to hearing about Girona, and just imagine the worst case scenario with the other trip and it will be easier than you expect.

ZuleikaJambiere · 09/06/2012 20:07

When is your due date Kayz? All you all prepared at home? I'm excited for you. I visited a friend with a newborn today, so lovely. And I agree with Vag, we need another up the duffer on here and quick. Anyone keeping any secrets they'd like to share? Obes, maybe, or someone else?

Grin at 'quick, wipe' *Jolly! They don't miss a trick, do they? The ballet sounds lovely

Hope you're enjoying Ginora LadyT. Pleased to see on fb that you have comfy feet

Apart from being lied to, how was dd1 after her jabs Kiwi? Has everyone had them done? We've not heard anything yet

We have got DD1s bridesmaid dress thus week, she looks really beautiful in it. I will sob (and ruin the reading I'm doing). I'm going to choose a ginormous hat this week, can't wait, I LOVE hats!

McKayz · 09/06/2012 20:12

Due date is 21st of June. So 12 days to go.

DS2 is meant to be having his jabs on the 20th but I might re arrange them. I dreading it, I hate taking them.

traceface · 10/06/2012 22:06

hi ladies.
It's very quiet round here....
Hope everyone is well and not too soggy from all this rain.
Kayz how are you doing? I hope you get on ok with the school run this week.
ZJ I've heard nothing about pre-school jabs. I think if I've not heard anything after we move then I'll ask the HV. I think there's quite a lot of variation in when they get it though. Did you get a hat yet? I can't wear hats because I have a pea head Grin My gorgeous dds both look fab in hats (even though Phoebs also has a pea head!)
lady I'm in awe of you doing a trip to Spain with the girls - I get anxious if I have to do the supermarket with them both! I like the advice (was it from Vag?) about having low expectations :) I bet you'll have a fabulous time.
Oh flippin heck phoebs is awake. That child never sleeps.

Obergene · 11/06/2012 08:51

Hi Ladies,

On my way to work after lovely week off in Wales. My girls were on top form and we had such fun despite the rain. We even managed three half days on the beach which I think was pretty intrepid given the overall weather. DD2 topped off a great week by appearing to night train herself.

Before we went we had a great jubilee Sunday. We really did have amazing views of the flotilla and the DDs had a huge window right onto the river which they waved their flags out of while screaming "Hello Your Majesty". At the point HM's boat passed our window Princess Kate joined her waving and the DDs are convinced that Kate smiled directly at them. Rarely has a five year old been so excited.

I hope everyone is well. I am jealous of those of you in the sun (LadyT & Indith i think) I am also v excited for news of Baby Kayz. No pregnancy to announce here. In fact I have been offered an exciting new post at work so am considering delaying no. 3 again. Maybe Beans???? Actually where are you Beans?

X

KiwiPanda · 11/06/2012 09:10

Morning all! RE the jabs, DD fine after them, especially after an ice cream treat, though the MMR booster like the first one has a slow acting thingy so can be 10 days or so. She was fine after the first one though so am hoping same again. I think our area is quite keen for you to do the MMR booster ASAP as they've bought it down from 3 years 4 months to 18 months - there have been several cases of measles. The other one is just "pre school" so I guess there's no huge rush.

I had an insanely busy day yesterday. Went for a long run (about 8.75 miles) then did a sewing class which I got via Groupon and made a bag, then made a cake, then had playdate, then made dinner, then collapsed in heap into bed at 8pm! Today I plan to do as little as possible. Grin

OP posts:
KiwiPanda · 11/06/2012 09:12

ps Obergene (when did that change!? Am I just very unobservant?) that sounds like a wonderful week. DD1 thinks I am Princess Kate and as a republican I am in no hurry to disabuse her.

OP posts:
LadyThompson · 11/06/2012 15:51

Uuuuurrrrrgh, so I didn't get on before I went to Girona and no time for a proper catch up now, but I thought I'd sat least say a few bits and bobs.

Spain was lovely. Stayed in a gorgeous sleepy spa town, did lots of walking and negotiated trains to various places (my Spanish is fairly rudimentary and no one spoke English really)...Yummy wine. Can't believe I am off there again on Sunday! Yes, I will be keeping it quick simple with the girls. We are staying in Tarragona, close to the beach. There's also plenty for me to see. It was interesting being there in the midst of this financial crisis. It sounds crazy but I couldn't help noticing how quiet it seemed in the streets. A colleague of DP's who was in Seville at the weekend said the same - people can't afford to go out.

I feel for you, Kayz. That last stretch is always a terrible slog.

That sounds like a nice break, Obes. What are your summer holiday plans? Beans has been on holiday though I think she might be back now.

I want full details of your hat, ZJ... I do like a hat.

Well done on your race that you mentioned on FB, Vaj. I haven't done any long walks for a couple of weeks now, need to get back into it! But the rain here is so vile.

Going to watch the football later, hurrah.

Jabs - DD1 had her booster when DD2 had her 1st MMR, at 3 yrs 5mths and 19 mths respectively (DD2 was late cos of all the shenanigans about her allergies). Both had no ill effects.

Beans36 · 11/06/2012 16:14

Yo babies! I'm back from a FANTASTIC week in Greece. We all got on really well and had a fantastic time. Was a lovely lovely week. Dad was on great form and even went dinghy sailing on his own, which was a real treat for him. He's doing so well and ate like a horse. Always a sign of health for him! It was like we were all on our own holidays, with meeting up for meals in the evenings. Ideal. And the girls were in childcare every afternoon, so I got to do as much sod all as I wanted!!!

DD1 had her pre-school jabs a few weeks ago and had no side effects at all. In fact, her only comment on it was, after I'd told her that the needle was going to go in and might sting a bit was, "That noodle really hurt me", which made me laugh a lot. Had to cuddle her so she didn't see me grinning.

Sadly, I have gained half a stone in 3 weeks. It took me about 5 months to lose it, so heavy dieting here we come. Sob. I want to get back into my running too.

DD2's childminder is on holiday until 21st. Am gutted. It's harder to look after one on their own, as the other one isn't there to entertain them! Currently, they're both playing cars in the kitchen, driving them along the tiled floor. It's great. But without DD1, we're a bit at a loss what to do! Went to softplay briefly this morning and then desperately trying to think what's next!!! Keeping DD1 out of nursery tomorrow morning - naughty me.

Right, a lot of shushing and giggling going on. Must go and investigate!

Lovely to be back on here and need to have a bit of a read. Obes - DH still trying to coerce me into a 3rd. I am occasionally tempted. Then see how happy DDs are with how things are and change my mind back.

urbanewarrior · 11/06/2012 16:46

Beans that sounds lovely - what a fantastic thing to do together and so pleased to hear about your Dad enjoying himself.

I have had the actual proper flu - which I have never had before and will be first in line for jab next year. Is gruesome. Literally could not get out of bed for 10 days.

Obes - thanks so much for details of mrs sleep - friends are going to try to use her when she's next over I think. And your flotilla viewing sounds perfect - what fantastic memories for your girls. Good news about new opp at work. Am impressed by days on the beach in wales we went to whitstable on saturday afternoon, and then strawb picking even though was bit chilly. As a result I have tonnes of jam - wish I could send you all a jar.

And LadyT yet more evidence of your awesome-ness. I am so impressed by your travelling - both the plan and the fact you're getting on and doing it. Are you writing about all these trips? You write so well and surely would be nice collection.

DD1 had 2nd MMR and didn't even flinch. She's nails that girl. She's yet to have booster but when I took DD2 for her jabs wanted to come along and get another one anyway so don't think will be much of a problem. We have fantastic nurse though who makes a big fuss of them and I think she just likes impressing her.

Kayz am thinking of you and have no idea how you're managing being this pregnant with 2 boys. V impressive. I was so tired towards the end with DD2. Much easier after she was born.

ZJ do share pictures of hat - I'm looking for inspiration as have wedding next month that I think requires huge hat to detract -from wobbly stomach

Eek DD2 complaining (not unreasonably) so I should post and run - back later.
