Beans i love Happyland and definitely a good one for both of them. DD2 is just entering the age of protesting when her sister nicks a toy from her (usually, ironically, a cast off one from when she was a baby that she showed absolutely no interest in at the time Grin) so I'm not looking forward to squabbles over such things. I can't believe little P is nearly 2 though. That's mad. It's surely about 6 minutes ago you had her.

Thanks for all the nice words about run! Have been totally wiped out ever since, think it really took it out of me, Particuarly the heat. I weighed myself the next day and tho I ate nothing but chocolate croissants and Cornish pasties for a week on holiday I weighed 2 lbs less than when we went away which I reckon was down to some serious dehydration ..

Kayz what a knob

Kiwi good running!

Beans they are not babies 2 minutes are they?

JB yay for kidneys

Dd is refusing to wear a nappy tonight Hmm. Night training all new to me as ds1 still not dry at night (hell he is only just dry in the day). Anyway this is the girl who sleeps incredibly badly, wakes a gazillion times a night....since she usually wees upon waking I am not confindent. Oh and even if she does manage it we are off on holiday on Saturday. Fun fun!

Speaking of holiday I have no idea how packing is going to get done. Dh not been here until late due to work travel so no help in evenings, ds2 been perma-latched. Got costume for ds1 to make still for Thursday and all the packing to do. Argh! Dh should be here tomorrow so hopefully I cna hand ds2 over for a bit in the evening and get it done but he has his next set of jabs tomorrow so it could all go wrong!

Think we all need the break though. Dd is shattered, she has had a coldy coughy thing for about a month now and is tired and grumpy and horrible.

Beans36 · 29/05/2012 21:58

Where are you off to, Indith?

Indith · 30/05/2012 07:43

France Beans :) Off to see family we've not seen for over 2 years.

Rubena · 30/05/2012 08:39

Hello! Sorry for absence been reading off and on from phone but never feel I've got anything interesting to add that anyone would want to read!
had a lovely visit from the spots and lady's recently! Thanks for coming- 'twas so nice finally!
Sorry about all upset With the biting deids. Glad it's looking up. What a wanker Kayz ignore him!
Beans trips looked lovely. Db's partners fam live in Ronda so we keep thinking about visiting But also thinking about Aust in Aug and not time to do both.
Dh working like a nutter and doing every Sat at moment too for various reasons and then that generates work at home most nights until at least midnight quite often! I found the Icecream in the fridge the other morning so I guess he's beyond knackered.
Oh and Beans dd has that playhouse thing mil bought her over awhile ago. I was surprised at the price when I looked at your link - seems a lot for what it is / does, but dd really loves it so I'm sure the girls will!
Right probably should get up - ds and I still in our bed and finished our second milk / coffee Grin will try and get back later!

DeidreBarlow · 30/05/2012 08:58

Flying visit...kayz What a tit that bloke was, totally numpty. Please IGNORE!

Beans Glad you had good hols

Kiwi Wowzers on the run, excellent effort!

Indith Have a lovely holiday.

We had gorgeous time camping in the sun at the weekend. Although did get a bit burnt on FIL boat Blush. We are supposed to be camping in Anglesey next week but the weather looks shiteSad

DS going okay [will say no more in case I curse it type emotion]

Righto best get to work, hopefully catch up properly soon

MomOrMum · 30/05/2012 08:59

Hi everyone! Kayz hope things are looking up and you're coping with a big bump in this heat! Kiwi, very impressed with all your running.

Obes thanks for the comparison with hours of sleep. Bloody parenting books make me feel like I am somehow stunting DS1 by not getting him enough sleep but maybe 10.5-11 hours isn't so far off for his age. Really sorry to hear your DD2 is struggling. We've had a lot of trauma about nursery drop off for months and months (better now) but the difference is that he was totally fine about 5 mins after we left and seemingly very happy when we picked him up. If he'd seemed unhappy even whilst there I would have struggled to take him I think, especially as I was at home at the time (and now nanny is, so no real need for him to be there). My friend who is a Montessori teacher said that they find the more often children go the easier they settle, and would recommend a short session every day as it becomes routine? But that doesn't help if she's genuinely unhappy there. Could it just be some stroppy age 3-itis?? My DS has definitely turned feral in recent months.

Day 9 of sole parenting. Getting very old now. I did somehow manage 9.5 hours sleep in a row on Sat night Grin which has given me the energy to get through the week. My parents arrived from Canada yesterday so the reinforcements are here to help! But I wouldn't be surprised if they took one look at the state of the house and the mad, shouting, fighting DSs and decided to book the next flight out!

I'm in for an Olympics meet up! Are any Londoners doing anything for the pageant? We're going to try to get to the river but might regret it!

MomOrMum · 30/05/2012 09:01

Loving the descriptors for Kayz's "attacker": tit and dickweed. Grin

Indith · 30/05/2012 09:58

Hurrah MoM, sleep and reinforcements!

I have 2 more words to say:

Growth spurt.

Ok 3 more:

EPIC growth spurt.

Beans36 · 30/05/2012 10:23

Mom! That is fab sleeping - hurrah! And how lovely to have your parents to help out for a while. How much longer are you single parenting?

I am trying to get some work done at the moment, but am seriously struggling to give a hoot about it. That's bad isn't it? I just have SO much else to do, it really takes a back seat!!!

Obergene · 30/05/2012 13:10

Wow MoM 9.5 hours uniterrupted sleep while solo parenting. That must mean that both the boys slept for even longer than that. Congrats! I hope you enjoy your parents' visit.

Re the jubilee we are going to a local street party on Sunday morning for which I am producing a pavlov iwth the Union Jack made out of pomegranite seeds and blueberries, then we are watching the flotilla from my my work which is obviously an amazing perk as we will be right on the river but out of the crowds. There will be lots of potential; for the DDs to utterly humiliate me in front of judgemental colleagues though, DD2 keeps saying "I gonna show Queen by front bum-bum..."

Rubes - how on earth can you think we would not be interested in what you have to say. Have you read what we pass off as interesting news and views? How is work going for you? Do you enjoy the little breaks?

Kayz - I am so glad that your baby is right way round and not too big. How many weeks are you now? Are you hoping to go overdue to minimise how much your DH misses?

Jolly - What great news about your kidneys returning to normal. I am so pleased.

Lady - this time two years ago we were having a lovely Swedish breakfast. Did you enjoy your stay at your mothers?

Indith - enjoy your hols. Good luck with the packing.

Urbane - I have PM'd you with info about Mrs Sleep. Sorry that your DH is treating you like a skivvy. Mine is off work this week and seems to see it as his personal ambition to fill every surface in the whole house with clutter.

Thank you all for your kind advice about DD2. We have some positive developments. We had a fantastic weekend camping with 5 other families and DD2 was utterly in her element running around with a gang of kids she knows really well. I think that gave her confidence and reminded her she does like playing with other children so on Monday morning the teacher reported that she had her best day ever at nursery. Yesterday she cried a lot before nursery but they said she was fine after 10 minutes (which is all I really care about), today we will see... I realise I mistyped in my original post about this problem - she is there for 3 hours a day 5 days a week (not 5 hours a day for three days a week).

McKayz · 30/05/2012 15:20

Hello,

Thank you everyone for the not so kind words about the idiot from the other day. Usually I would ignore such things, not that they happen often, but it was just one of those mornings.

Obes No I am wanting this baby out ASAP. I am 37 weeks tomorrow so apart from this weekend when my Mum is in Liverpool she can come any time from Monday evening. I keep thinking it is a bit selfish towards DH but I am so fed up. I think he would also she came ASAP as he knows just how knackered I feel.

I might be very very wrong but I really think that having the boys and a newborn will be a lot easier than being heavily pregnant and having to look after them.

VagolaJahooli · 30/05/2012 15:47

Hi ladies, have been catching up since yesterday evening but only now have had a chance to post.

Kayz knobpoobum and itchycrotchmonster to that complete waste of oxygen that said that to you. I can understand people yelling stuff if someone does something annoying like cut you off while driving or if someone nearly runs you down on their bike, but to say something random like that to a stranger is just bizarre and pointless. I have thought black thoughts of him and I am confident he will not be getting satisfactory physical relations for a while. Oh the least sleep I ever got was in the last few weeks of pregnancy with DS2. Life was definite much easier with a newborn than late pregnancy.

Beans get working Wink

I can't seem to remember anything else, the heat is frying my brain.

Had a lovely time camping in the belgian Ardenne region. stayed at an amazing campsite which had a huge heated pool with a rock-climbing wall hanging over it, a forest with an obstacle course and lots of gorgeous countryside and pretty towns with castles. Was very relaxing until today when I came back to reality and had to clean up after all that relaxation and a home full of dust and cat hair. Plus DS2 is shattered after late bedtime and lots of activity so is a bit moody, as am I so we aren't a good combination. also I have a training session tonight and then drinks with friends and DH has his work farewell, so I have to leave the boys with a babysitter at 7 & hope DS2 doesn't act up too much at bedtime. made worse by the fact that DS1 has swimming lessons until 5 so I have to cycle home like wildfire to get dinner on and feed them & bath so all happy and settled when sitter arrives.

VagolaJahooli · 30/05/2012 15:50

Oh she kiwi awesome result, sorry about the dehydration, it can be very exhausting, you may have had heatstroke. Lots of rehydration drinks after the run help but unfortunately not much help while you are running to stop that head exploding heating up feeling. I have a race in Rotterdam in 10days which I think will feel like that. Thankfully only 5km.

TheInvisibleHand · 30/05/2012 21:34

Vag - I need top tips for the Belg ardennes! We have, a little rashly, agreed to spend a week there at the end of July....

I keep having good intentions to come on here and post, but by the time I get to it I am too brain dead to gather my thoughts.

Most exciting news here is that I have a new nephew! I am mulling over a sneaky weekend away to NYC to take a peek at him as it sounds unlikely that they come here this side of Xmas (they are moving city...). And of course a weekend without my lovely family in New York wouldn't do any harm...

We are all on hols next week, which I am more than ready for.

ZJ - I think you kindly asked about DH and how he's feeling about MIL. I guess life goes on, but its one of those things that just catches you unaware from time to time. Plus worrying about what FIL wants to do. He's keen not to stay in their house, but I think is having a hard time figuring it out beyond that.

We had more or less the first night for months last night where DS spent the whole night in his own bed. I'd forgotten how nice it is not to have a small person hogging the bed.

I will have a go at more personals another day...

VagolaJahooli · 30/05/2012 23:06

Invis do you know where you will be staying? I can't recommend it enough, it is a really, lovely soul refreshing place. We were lucky to have lots if hot sunshine, but even if not would have enjoyed it. Lots of lovely little market towns and castles to explore, loads of interesting history and of course forests and rivers galore. Best of all the kids love it.

Not sure if a mentioned it yet but we got some great news, our lovely friends from Derby whose son was ds1's best friend, just had another baby, but the best news was it was a home birth. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea and it's not the holy grail of birthing, but this friend really wanted a home birth. It is their third child and the first started at home but ended up as an emcs, the second was a VBAC which started at home but had to go to hospital because the baby showed signs of distress, all fine but needed an episiotomy. Now finally she got her home water birth. I'm so pleased for her and her hubby. The nice thing was she used our birth pool so it featured in ds2's birth and her ds2's birth.

So anyway just got home and have sent the babysitter home. Had a lovely night with the training session followed by rum and cokes in the sunshine in a friends garden with a couple of the girls. But best of all ds2 had a ball with the babysitter and went to bed happily after what sounds like lots of laughs. The babysitter sounded as happy about it as I was. Dh and i would love to go see Patti smith in Amsterdam next month so might need to get the babysitter overnight so this is great news as we would like to leave early enough to get to A dam have some dinner and then come back late after the show. This is very good news.

Beans36 · 31/05/2012 08:25

That's lovely news, Vag - well done you friend. And also your boys for having such a lovely time with the babysitter! Hurray!

My iPhone is well and truly knackered. Think am going to stick with my crappy nokia until my upgrade in November. Bumholes eh?

Beans36 · 31/05/2012 08:26

Oh and Invis - visit to NYC unaccompanied is EXACTLY what you need! Congrats on the new arrival xxxx

KiwiPanda · 31/05/2012 08:42

Invis i will possibly explode of sheer jealousy if you get to have a solo weekend in NY Wink God I miss pre-baby holidays. Ones with small children leave me needing rehab not feeling relaxed

DD2 has taken to getting up between 4 and 5 am every day and it's a killer. Specially when you actually go out for the first time in weeks and have two glasses of wine and feel hungover

Lovely ladies, I am off to Norfolk at lunchtime for what was a week of R and R... now sadly derailed by MIL descending on us on Sunday and staying til Wed! Bloody brilliant. There will be murder on the dancefloor, I can tell ya.

Have a great week everyone and see you when I get back. HUGELY jealous of NY trip. I may need one of those to get over this one.

Love to you all XXX

Beans36 · 01/06/2012 08:51

Oh Sybs - that's a bit of a bummer.

Deids - how is DS doing?

We're off on holiday again tomorrow. I feel so lucky! We have to get up at 1.15am, so am dressing the girls in their travelling clothes for bedtime tonight. Luckily it's a summer holiday, so it's leggings and a t-shirt, rather than jeans and jumpers!!! Can't wait to go! It's with the whole family, so am sure there'll be some interesting moments. But hoping we can all just get on with it, for Dad's sake!

KiwiPanda · 01/06/2012 08:57

Have a lovely time Sybs - at least before Sunday and after Weds Wink!

Random question ladies. I am getting a lovely new necklace that can be personalised but am trying to work out what to put as the initials/text. I want to put the girl's initials and DH's maybe.. but how would you do it? Can't quite work it out, which one to put where, and what to put as the slightly longer text.. Any suggestions?

Oooh I am so lucky. The dcs have solved my little secret desire for jubilee tat by each coming home from school/nursery with a delightful Crown mug with a picture of the queen on Grin

DeidreBarlow · 01/06/2012 12:56

Hello!

sybs & beans Have a lovely time away.

Indith Both my 2 came home yesterday with Jubilee cups - DS loves his, its all he'll drink out of now.

Invis I am so Envy of your NYC trip. I love it there, would really love to go back again but it would have to be sans DC.

Thanks for asking beans DS is doing okay. TBH I actually think that now pre-school realise he has a temper they have been spending more time with him seeing how he ticks and it seems to be paying off! They have confirmed his days for September too, so I guess they aren't planning on expelling him anytime soon which has to be a good thingGrin

Mum & Dad home from hols so we are having a BBQ later, after a garden party at DD's school! She is very excited as the Mayor is comingHmm. Then off to Anglesey on Sunday for 5 nights, pray for good weather ladies as we are going in the tent! I have never camped for that long before and am a little scared....

DeidreBarlow · 01/06/2012 12:59

Oh indith We have flags too - 99p for 2 from Tesco I think...Union Jack ones.

I have to say I am feeling hugely patriotic at the mo, and rather looking forward to a summer of sporting fun; football, Wimbledon, Olympics...brilliant!!

Crown Crown Crown Crown Crown Crown...God save the Queen Grin
