It's not a bad title at all Kiwi

I have to go for a scan today and see the consultant. The MW rang on Saturday to say they wanted to rush it through in case they want to do more scans.

We've ordered almost everything this morning. So in the next few days the cot, Moses basket etc etc should arrive. Grin

Hope you all are ok. Smile

AubergineKenobi · 16/04/2012 10:37

Great thread title Kiwi.

Spot, those bedtimes sound awful. All I can think to add to the advice of others is be consistent. He may currently bieve more screaming will result in mummy lying with him, getting to sleep in another room etc etc. From now on never stay & never move him. Also try talking about it at calm times during the day. We did this with DD2 when she kept screaming at nursery drop off. When she was calm and happy and nowhere near buster we would discuss how she felt at drop off and how we wanted her to behave and how proud we would all be if at next drop off she showed us how brave she could be. To break this bad cycle and get in a new routine I would consider giving him medised or a drowse inducing anti Histamine about 45 mins before bed. Good luck.

Veg, sorry you are having some hard times with DS2 again. Don't beat yourself up about it so much. These phases happen. I know the fear that IRS part of a life long pattern but there is no use worrying about the future like that, you will probably find there are periods when you and DS2 just click and phases where you clash but neither will be permanent.

I have really hurt my right shoulder some how. It's tight all round the blade and tight up the ride side of my neck. All I can guess is it's to do with running which is sad. Any tips on how not to tense shoulders while running? I can't even hold my phone in my right hand as it hurts the shoulder.

Checking in

DeidreBarlow · 16/04/2012 12:30

Thanks kiwi for the new thread -I like teh title, especially the 'boozing' bit Wink

spot Those bedtimes sound like hell! Lots of wise words already. DS has always been good at going to bed but DD was a right sod. I used to lie with her till she was about 3.5, even now she uses every excuse to back downstairs/get out of bed..."I need the toilet/drink/snack...I'm too hot/cold etc"

Right off to defrost the freezerHmm Hopefully back later

DeidreBarlow · 16/04/2012 12:31

Oh kayz Good luck with the scan!

VagolaJahooli · 16/04/2012 12:35

Cheers Kiwi, I love the title. I was thinking of doing one in honour of Lady's birthday, but not sure she would have wanted the reminder continuously that she has turned the big 40 until the thread finished. Maybe we could go with an alphabetic theme, next thread can be all 'C' words.

Aubi I did love your entolling the virtues of a good discussion with LOs about their behaviour, followed by encouraging night time sedation :o . It is another idea though Spot. Just a light antihistamine, just to make him a bit drowsy. Haha sorry but I'm laughing at myself now, I remember as a newly qualified nurse being horrified when a friend said she used a sedative to get her daughter to sleep, and now as a jaded mother it seems obvious!

Ok ladies I'm officially concerned that I may be preggars. I have felt that I am, in a lady style aka her awareness of DD2 since conception, but DH keeps telling me he is sure he withdrew in time. I'm due either today or tomorrow (or last week if my period was in a 20 day cycle as it has been recently), so effectively I shouldn't be feeling anything, but I'm terribly nauseous, that icky seedy nausea. Please someone tell me it could be something else. I don't want to pay ?15 for a pregnancy test but I'm starting to worry a little. Think I will wait and see what tomorrow brings, aunt flo wise.

VagolaJahooli · 16/04/2012 12:37

Is scan today Kayz?

Hi DB

AubergineKenobi · 16/04/2012 12:45

Oooh Veg, how exciting, you can be my third pregnany buddy!

Sorry, that is not the reaction you were after was it? If it is any help I can say that there have been several instances in the last 6 months when DH and I took a slight risk and then I became utterly convinced I was up the duff. My boobs hurt, I was tired, I felt sick etc etc etc. When I was working in France I became so convinced that I was preggers that taking the test just seemed like a formality. Anyway, it always turned out to be my mind playing tricks on me. It may well be the same for you (in fact it almost definitely will be if your DH is so sure he pulled out in time).

McKayz · 16/04/2012 12:46

Oooh Vag pregnancy tests seem exciting there. I'm guessing your DH knows that just because he thinks he pulled out in time doesn't mean he didn't leak a little. Sorry it sounds so wrong Grin

Yes I have a scan at 1:20 today. Consultant wanted me to rush in today. I am worried about seeing him as I don't want to have to argue for a natural birth.

VagolaJahooli · 16/04/2012 13:11

False alarm, nausea must related to aunt flo arriving. DH is off the hook and I don't have to fork out for pregnancy test. Right we really need to sort out some proper contraception.

JollyBear · 16/04/2012 13:36

Marking my place.

Spot. Much sympathy on the bedtimes. I agree with others try asking what tje problem is at a different, more relaxed time of day. I'd be harsh - check every 15mins but generally ignore. Doing lots of outdoor activity during the day, proper exhausting stuff, bath.

Arti Very exciting re no 3!

McKayz · 16/04/2012 13:38

Boo to hospitals. I'm already bored and it's only running 20 minutes late. Plus I'm bursting for the loo!!

JollyBear · 16/04/2012 13:41

Oops posted too soon.

Happy birthday lady! Hope you are having a fabulous day.

hat's a relief Vag!

DeidreBarlow · 16/04/2012 14:07

Oh vag I was just getting excited about veggie#3, and just a few posts later it was all over Grin

VagolaJahooli · 16/04/2012 15:16

Sorry DB, I should have posted a few days ago when I was starting to look at dates etc. DS2 made his thoughts on the subject of a baby brother or sister quite clear when I told him mummy had thought that she was going to make him a big brother. His exact words were "no, I don't want one, I hate babies".

Boo Kayz I hate waiting. Hope you got to the loo, I can't imagine anything worse than having a ultrasound thingy squishing into my bladder.

Beans36 · 16/04/2012 16:57

Thanks for the thread, Kiwi!

Hi all! Marking my place too! AND HAPPY BIRTHDAY LADY T! 21 again, 21 again, she's got the key of the door, never been 21 before etc.

Vag - you excite me, then dash my hopes! I was hopeful of another addition!

Spot - I agree with everything said. Sounds harsh, but you do have to be pretty hard with them at this age, as they know exactly what they're doing and how they're manipulating you. If I were in your shoes, I'd get the gate in place and ignore for 15 mins at a time and then elongate it to 30mins if it's not working. As others have said, be consistent and he will learn. It's unlikely he'll hurt himself and he will learn relatively fast. I hope you're ok.

SL - DD1 v keen to come and play with DS's trains. Little flirt! Hee hee!

Kayz - how was the scan and why the rush?

McKayz · 16/04/2012 17:40

I have good news!!!!

I had my scan this afternoon. Well Baby McKayz is measuring slightly higher than average. Today she weighs 3lb 14oz which is quite nice compared to the 4lb 4oz she weighed 9 days ago. The MWs are not impressed with the private scan place as apparently it is quite common to have women in scared they have big or tiny babies. She is also head down now.

So I can still have a home birth!!!!

Also DH got me a Kindle today as my early birthday present!!

DeidreBarlow · 16/04/2012 17:44

kayz Great news! Lets hope your next few weeks are a breeze.

Forgot to update you all on DS's constipation (I know you've all been dying to knowGrin). Well, 3 days of doing rock solid poos he seems to be free flowing againGrin. Poor man has been really grumpy as well,no wonder I bet his tummy was really sore....its fruit city here trying to keep him flowing!

Beans36 · 16/04/2012 18:16

Phew Kayz!!

DD1 also still constipated, although she does go at least once a day, but it's "hurty" apparently. She did one on a walk today in a field. One blessing is she doesn't need wiping!! Poor child.

My sister came to visit today. I loved it. Have missed her very much. We speak mist days but rarely see eachother. Shame.

Is anyone else's 3yr old making up words/names for toys all the time? DD1 keeps introducing me to her endless toys with ridiculous names. Latest is imaginary horse called Porridge Dumb. Should be sweet, but it's a bit dull. Oh and if we get a dog, she wants to call it Treestumper.

Went to her playgroup induction today and met some lovely people. Another new arrival who is similarly friendless and I liked her very much. She works where I used to and knows my old boss who is now chairman!!

There is a huge ball going on in next-door village in June and we were asked. Typically it's the one weekend when DH is away. They all said I should go anyway and a few said I could be on their table. DH will be v jealous as I am making friends and he isn't!! Not sure I'm brave enough to go on my own!!!

KiwiPanda · 16/04/2012 19:19

Happy birthday LadyT! Happy birthday to you! (realises shes singing tunelessly, stops)

Kayz that's great news, hooray for turning babies! She's clearly going to be a cooperative sort Wink

Beans yup DD is doing that too. Makes up a silly name then cracks up hysterically... She cannot stop talking at the moment. Literally not a bloody second without jabbering. I bet her one Babybel she couldn't go 5 whole minutes without talking. She lasted 35 seconds...I'm daydreaming about joining a Trappist convent

Beans, you shall go to the ball! It'll be a blast. I haven't been to a ball for ages, and would love to get dressed up, have gallons of champagne and dance with other people's husbands. So much more exciting than one's own. I am sure mine speaks very highly of me too Hmm. Glad you are settling in. I am trying to find a good day to drop by. How long is it to drive from here? Could I be back by 3.30pm? We are away half term but maybe on polling day???

Glad about yr no 3, Aubs, and about your non no 3, Vag. I like having 3. Mind you, this evening I really didn't fancy having 1 let alone 3 as they all kicked off about stupid things at different times. My patience is well and truly tried. I was going to have a few nights off the sauce to try to assuage my vinous conscience but can hear the wine calling.....

Hope you are having a fantastic birthday, LadyT.

Love to all X

Beans36 · 16/04/2012 20:26

Put like that, Sybs... I shall go!!! It's about 1.5hrs from you so not very far really!!

Watching recorded BGT. Love it.

And just eaten delicious Jamie Oliver salmon recipe and had a beer. DH out so it's a perfect night!

Love my family but am v tired of being general skivvy and house bitch.

Beans36 · 16/04/2012 20:51

Oh and an almond mini magnum and two Thorntons chocolates.
