Up until 2 years ago our tv was a lovely mahogany relic from the 80s!

Back later!

Indith · 19/04/2012 14:15

No probs. By the look of things there is one that has a HCP there and one that is mother run.

Rubena · 19/04/2012 14:56

Knackered. Whenever I speak to Mum it's a lengthy call (both ramble) she rang at 10pm and not off phone until 1am at which point dd kicked off and didn't stop until teeth gelled, so turned into a long day yesterday after getting in from work as well.
Just back from dd swimming lesson and she has started throwing food so is back in the cot.
yeah tenant is a weight off the mind as things were getting tight with floating that place and it had only been 5 weeks vacant. Hoping new tenant not a nightmare as already making deals and demanding things done before move in (which only agreeing to as needed doing anyway)
Vag we use an agent for Introduction only / finders fee then I manage it and sort the rest. Otherwise I find they fleece you (well ours did our with our 1st ever tenant and full management) but It guess it depends on everyone's individual circumstances yada yada
Spot / Lady have FB-ed you. Hoping our delayed meet up at mine can happen in May. If anyone else can come too let me know via FB and we'll chat about potential dates Smile

VagolaJahooli · 19/04/2012 14:56

Purely natural is a terrible name for a breastfeeding group. But at least they are running. That is appalling that they don't run the NHS one can't run because it uses too much electricity, nice to know where their priorities are, maybe if they had a few less stupid faffy meetings they would use less electricity in meeting rooms.

Hey Indith where are you doing your MW course?

So sleepy but have to stay awake as i need to take ds1 to gymnastics.

Rubena · 19/04/2012 14:58

Deids, so glad he won Grin it's a no-brainer (to use a very annoying phrase hijacked from Vag's dh) You won't regret Danny on a Sat night life size Wink

Indith · 19/04/2012 16:18

It is a terrible name isn't it but as you said, at least there is one. There are so many faffy meetings here it is untrue but they are going for baby friendly status so at least bf is high on the agenda! Our hospital workshops are purely antenatal then all the postnatal stuff is dealt with in the community. Everyone is supposed to get postnatal visits from an MCA but in reality there is one poor MCA trying deperately to at least visit all the first time mums. Everyone is trying so, so hard but they are unable to deliver the service they want to ue to staffing/finance/other random crap. It sucks. And for some reason I want to do it Hmm.

I'm going to be at Northumbria Vag.

JamInMyWellies · 19/04/2012 17:59

Bored . com

When is this rain going to stop?

DB exact same convo going on in our house. DH is desperate for a new TV, I am desperate for new curtains. I will win Grin

Kayz if you have questions about BF why dont you start a thread on here nd am sure you will get some fab advice.

Oi trace where are you?

VagolaJahooli · 19/04/2012 19:06

Hope Tracey hasn't overdone it with the running, or lost us with the thread change.

That's interesting Rubs, so far for our London place we have found the tennants ourselves via gumtree, but our Derby place is full managed. When the current tennants in London eventually move out (hopefully not for ages) we are thinking of having the London place managed but generally we find estate agents offer a pretty crap service, considering how much they charge. Does the person you get to find continue charging a fee every six months?

Boys nearly in bed, just bathed now putting their PJs on so expecting to be called in any moment. DH is late home because I made him go pick up a load of Bakugans that someone was/selling as her son no longer plays with them. We got heaps of them for only ?20! Its our wedding anniversary tomorrow 8 years. We are quite excited because its the first time we have actually remembered. In the morning after the PT I'm going to put a few photos from our wedding up on FB as a little pressie to dh.

Rubena · 19/04/2012 20:31

Vag, yes that's what I found. When we first ever let out the flat (early'08) we had the tenant from hell and paid an enormous amount for full management, only to find out that most of the issues our tenant had were being exacerbated since the letting agent wasn't passing on her concerns very fast / accurately / if at all, so I was doing more work as well as gettin up the agent for doing f*k all. After that we went to Intro only and it has been fine - still a bit spendy as it's usually the 1st months rent or slightly less as the fee, but it only pays off if the tenant stays a while. Last one stayed 3 years, but you never know. Whe you say 6 months, do you mean if the tenant was to leave at the 6 month point and you needed to find a new one? if so yes - but otherwise you only pay once for the tenant they find.

Beans36 · 20/04/2012 07:44

I used to do tenancy management (not for very long, it was hell and made me ill!!) and I would say that the agencies pile mountains of properties onto not very many people as it's not that lucrative and the agents are TOTALLY snowed under. That was my experience anyway. And it's really hard for them to cope, I think. Plus you don't need any training or qualifications, so when I did it, I was brought in and expected to be able to cope with 90 properties almost immediately. Miserable. Anyway, that's just on their side...

I have ordered a few pictures for the new nursery and am putting them in clipframes, as otherwise, it would have ended up costing £100s, so have got 9 pics and 9 clipframes for £75. Very pleased. This is an example - got 9 various different ones and LOVE them!

We're getting at 37" telly soon and giving our DDs our 26incher. I can't WAIT!

sybilfaulty · 20/04/2012 08:00

Happy anniversary Vag and Steve. Hope you have a lovely day.

All sad here I am afraid. My FIL died unexpectedly yesterday morning, which is so awful. He was only 66. My MIL is in denial, having her hair done and going to her dancing class. She is going to be poleaxed when it hits her. DH functioning but not great, BIL sorting through papers as his displacement activity. DH off to see them today for the weekend so have kids to myself all weekend.

Hope you are all well.

DeidreBarlow · 20/04/2012 08:22

I made dropscones for supper for girls tonight. Wolfed after cloudy walk. Rain constantly imminent, but we avoided it. Hurrah!
DD1 obsessed with Lion King at moment. Watching it for third time today. Bear in mind she was in nursery til 12 and we've been for an hour's walk and squeezed in Tree Foo Tom. Back to back. I loved the film a few days ago!

DH out tonight. 3rd time this week. Bit bored of doing bedtime. But bonus is that I can put them to bed at 6.45. Yay!

Sybs, so hope you're all ok. My sister has been at a memorial service today for a friend's brother. Life just isn't fair.

KiwiPanda · 21/04/2012 07:41

Sybs hope you are doing ok this morning

Jam We have a 40 inch tv which I bought DH for Christmas/Birthday a year or so again. Thought it was a bit ridiculous at first but now can't imagine having smaller... Though I would like nice curtains too. When we moved into our new house we had loads of Homebase vouchers so had to buy curtains using those (no spare cash) so all our curtains are dull as dishwater (ie the only tasteful ones they had, plain dark red...)

Kayz I second Jam's idea of starting thread with any BF questions on MN. I had some brilliant and supportive advice here with DD1's many feeding problems.

Indith Hope you've been getting a bit more sleep/rest/nonfussing baby! I met a girl at the NCT baby group I volunteer at whose little girl must have been born on the same day as your DS2. She was very sweet but I'm sure DS2 is even sweeter Wink

I am currently being allowed to MN while DD1 cuts out things (anyone else got a cutting/scissors obsessed child?) and DD2 sleeps having got up at 5am. Ugh. And I'm going to running club at 9.30am. I think it might be rather brutal today.

KiwiPanda · 21/04/2012 07:43

Beans DD1 still has not got the attention span to watch a whole film. 20 minutes or so of Gruffalo's Child is her limit before she's off the sofa again demanding we do something else. I know it's obviously not briliant to have them glued to the telly all day but on the other hand, with two kids it would be quite handy if on a rainy day when DD1 needs feeding/ putting to sleep/cuddling I could park her there for a while...! Perhaps I should get the Lion King. I've tried her on Pixar ones and while she likes a bit of Toy Story, I think they lose her a bit with the very fast dialogue.

DeidreBarlow · 21/04/2012 07:54

Morning all. sybs How are you doing? Much to love to you all.

DS loves a film. I usually stick one on to amuse him while I have to get the cleaning done if DD is at school. Current fave is 'How to Train Your Dragon'. I can't watch The Lion King, I cry every time Blush.

Have to say I'm loving the new TV. I think the old one was a 32" and this new one is 43"...DH thinks we could have gone bigger but I think he held back because of my reservations! DS in particular likes it and keeps saying 'Wow the tele is so big!'

DH working from 8 till 8 today, boo. I have bad PMS and can't be bothered. I might try and muster up enough energy for cake making & the park.

Indith · 21/04/2012 08:32

Dd loves cutting and sticking, asks to do it all the bloody time!

She likes how to train your dragon too, and shrek. she went through a huge shrek phase of wanting to watch it all the time but the past few months has lost the ability to watch a whole film, she gets up and switches off half way through.

good night last night :) then dh got up with ds2 at 6.30 and I'm still in pjs having breakfast feeding him to sleep on the sofa :)

KiwiPanda · 21/04/2012 13:55

I looked up lion king DVD on amazon - cant believe how much it is!! Hardly a new film but was about 12 quid..!

Running club was evil. It was pyramid today (200m, 400m, 600m, 800m, 1000m then backdown again 800,600 etcetc). Which only adds up to 5k but my legs feel fried... Oh for the days when I could go to bed of a Saturday afternoon with the papers and have a snooze Envy
