waiting for curry with loads of telly to catch up on Blush Deids, that's one thing dh and I are on the same page with. We've had a big-ish telly for ages and have both been bitching for months that it's too small at 50 inch so nearly bought bigger one recently but other things popped up so the plan has stalled Sad I have just secured us a tenant now so TV might be back on the cards Grin
Beans - don't stress yourself about it - you're smart and will be showing brilliantness shortly - it's knackering with kids eh, and I can hardly manage to hand out coffee and tea without forget what I was asked for moments earlier at times Blush
I am having a lot of wine too - oh wait that's normal Blush
crikey, blush emoticon overuse.
Glad you had a lovely time for the b'day Lady x

VagolaJahooli · 18/04/2012 20:38

Yeah Indith I did think after I wrote that, what happens with the school run. Ds1 was only in nursery 3 mornings a week and dh was working from home a lot so wasn't an issue really, I think with sibs in school it would be pretty much impossible.

Beans I remember every word you say, you are my guru, guru Beans, she of the alfresco poo.

I wander if Kate is asleep already, if not she must be shattered too.

Indith how is that vino going down. I have a bottle of white open might pour a little glass.

I had a little bootcamp session with my friends, the one that is run by my friend who is an ex PT. Man it was so hard, I think I'm still hurting from yesterday and it was so hard to go as hard as i could, just wasnt motivated. Nice to do it with friends though. We were all hurting.

Hi Lady, nice to hear you feeling all smooth and revived.

VagolaJahooli · 18/04/2012 20:50

Yay on the tennants Rubs, do you find them yourself or do you go through an agent.

Deids I meant to weigh in on the side of your hubby, we bought a big telly in early 2006 and at the time it was one of the best on the market and now six years later (almost to the day in fact) it is still going strong. The only drawback is when we bought it we had a loungeroom to accommodate it, now I would prefer something smaller and even thinner so am basically waiting for this one to die so we can get one of those super thin 32inch LCD numbers. But really if you want it to last and i don't just mean in longevity but also technical relevance, I think it is good to get the best. It's one of the most used things in your house. Oh and just a tip, big teles are set to showroom brightness, but the average living room doesn't need the tele to be that bright, so if you turn it down a bit it will use loads less power and is better for everyone's eyes.

Beans36 · 18/04/2012 21:12

I like being a guru. Might tell my boss that... She was so nice and said it was "all part of the learning curve". She incredibly generous-natured!!!

If you get a chance, please have a look on YouTube and search on candle cake ninja
I nearly wet my pants laughing. It was on You've Been Framed and made me weep with giggles. On my own.

Beans36 · 18/04/2012 21:18

I would put a link to it, but am on iPhone and it won't let me!!

VagolaJahooli · 18/04/2012 21:40

Haha I found it Beans, so funny.

Beans36 · 18/04/2012 21:44

The evil little face on it!!

ZuleikaJambiere · 18/04/2012 23:15

Thanks for the new thread Kiwi

Exciting to hear of your plans for number 3 Aubi, but I think you need to crack on with TTC now, otherwise we will have a gap with no one expectant after Kayz, now that Vag is definitely not up t'duff. Grand news about your baby pointing the right way Kayz and home birth

DD1 is also making up daft names Beans, I have been christened Silly Billy Wrinkly, which makes me feel great Hmm. You must go to the ball, you must

Kiwi I'd go for the cup, if she can drink a decent amount from it. DD1 did ok with a doidy cup at a similar age, being a bottle refuser. It took an age to get just a few ounces into her, so not great if you're aiming for a full feed. I cursed DDs bottle refusing, but it wasn't long before the other Mums cursed their DCs refusal to switch to a cup, and at that point I confess I felt a teeny bit smug. I bought a bottle for DD2 at the weekend, as it is my sisters hen do in a couple of week, and like you I want to go out and get through the whole meal without being called back. But I nearly sobbed right in the middle of Boots, buying it, what if she likes it more than me? Sad. Still haven't given it to DH to try with her yet

I too would like to know how to get a baby to sleep Indith. My irritation is that DD2 self settles like an angel baby for naps and after night feeds, but at bedtime suddenly becomes completely incapable of self settling, and I have to cuddle, jiggle, shush her to sleep. I remembered that 90 minute theory and have been trying to time bedtime accordingly, yet it's taking more than blooming 90 minutes of cuddling/jiggling/shushing even though she's been tired from the start. She's not hungry and wanting to feed, and in fact we've had 3 amazing nights in the last week of 7 hours plus between feeds at night Grin (not 7 hours asleep, annoyingly). I keep reminding myself of those nights and my holy grail is now filling that 7 hour gap with sleep for us both. It sounds amazing, but then I remember DD1 won't let me enjoy it anyway. Ho hum

On bedtime, how is T doing Spot? The wise ladies had some great suggestions I thought, I hope they are working?

Yay for the tenant Rubes, and yay also for LadyT's smoothness. A late edition to the PMS discussion - post DD1 I was getting incredibly tired for a couple of days being my period, beyond early pregnancy type tiredness. I self diagnosed and took iron in the week before and that instantly improved my exhaustion, and therefore mood too - I'm a horror to be with when tired. Sad to hear your DD1 suffering the terrors too, it's so upsetting to witness, but I'm just glad they don't remember them the next day

How is your nephew's leg Deids? Sounds awful, poor lad. I am watching the Voice, and loving it. Agree with you totally about Will.I.Am and Danny

I met a new Mum at toddler group today, her DS is 4 weeks old. 3 weeks ago she moved into the house across the road from me. Her DH works away 3 nights a week. Yet still she got to the group before 10am today and with full make up on. She actually is wonder woman!

KiwiPanda · 19/04/2012 06:25

It's 6.25am and I am the only person awake! Has someone kidnapped my girls? I would get up and go and look but it's cosy in bed Wink

KiwiPanda · 19/04/2012 06:27

Indith I had quite a lot of wailing on the nursery run when DD2 was newborn as couldn't always time the feeds/sleeps or she just didn't want to be in the car or buggy.. Got a lot better as she grew though - know that's not particularly helpful though sorry

ZuleikaJambiere · 19/04/2012 07:26

Hurrah for the lie inKiwi. I feel blessed this morning as the little slept through from 930pm til 7am Shock Grin and the big one only woke once Grin. Sore, ginormous boobs through

KiwiPanda · 19/04/2012 08:05

ZJ when DD2 started doing longer stretches I would wake up in a puddle of milk. Nice...

DH has been doing her breakfast since she started solids a week or so ago. He's been telling me how much porridge she eats but didn't really realise until this morning how much that really means. I think she ate her own body weight in banana porridge this morning. Astonishing. She's not even 15lbs!

DeidreBarlow · 19/04/2012 08:48

Morning! DH won. By the time I got home from work we had a huge 'LED' TV. Not sure it was needed but it does look good.Grin

ZJ Thanks for asking about my nephew. He is struggling as he has a full leg cast and it weighs so much. He's right in the middle of revising for his GCSE's so its a massive distraction for him. The school said he wasn't seen by a first-aider and it wasn't put in the accident book. They are 'investigating'. He see's the consultant on Monday re: a decision on surgery.

How's the boobs now? Its a small price to pay for some sleep.

lady Glad you had a lovely time.

rubes Hooray for the tenant.

vag How's the muscles feeling?

Right best get off to work...oh and the bloke I work with is on BGT this Saturday. They came yesterday to film him at home 'getting ready for the audition'.

Beans36 · 19/04/2012 12:28

What's he doing on BGT? Did he get through???

DeidreBarlow · 19/04/2012 12:43

He plays the keyboard, but it must be more exciting thsn that as he does go through. But he said Simon didn't like his act. Also have a sneaky suspicion he's gotten through to the live bit...but he won't say as he's signed a contract!

VagolaJahooli · 19/04/2012 12:46

Gosh Deids that's very exciting. Do you know his talent?

Your poor nephew it must be almost impossible to revise with all that discomfort. I hope someone gets a stern talking to about this at the school. Horrendous. The idea that a 15 year old boys pain and sadness could be ignored is heartbreaking.

How is the tele?

All of me hurts and I'm so tired. Think I need a peanut butter sandwich but don't want the calories. I've just had, quinoa, red lentil, chickpea, baby spinach & cougette all mixed together with a shedload for lunch. DS2 is slowly eating his and I'm so tempted to take it off him and scoff it.

VagolaJahooli · 19/04/2012 12:55

Woops forgot to add the word garlic after shedload, poor DS2 has fallen asleep next to me so more lunch and I can watch bargain hunt in piece. Unfortunately, I need to get DS1 in an hour. He must be growing big time as he is back to needing a nap most days.

DeidreBarlow · 19/04/2012 13:00

Never heard him play, but he is supposed to be very good.

My sister is waiting for the outcome of the schools investigation and then take it from there. Poor lad, I don't think he quite understands what a mess he's made of it.

The TV is actually pretty good. Alan Sugar was practically life sized watching tba Apprentice last night.

Right best get back to my desk. Just found a lost kit kat in my bag, need chocolate to get me through the next couple hours! It will have to do.

Indith · 19/04/2012 13:04

Wow ZJ that's fab sleep! Hope it continues for you!

Well today ds has slept loads, I suppose our days will just vary depending on what is going on. Mind you, last night having crashed soon after the big ones and slept nicely all evening he fussed all night and only slept fitfully on me. The night before having fussed all day and evening he slept all night in his basket. He is pretty good for 6 weeks really, must remember that! He has day and night cracked and doesn't try to play at night and just half wakes for a feed the drifts back off.

Grin at new TV. Dh is so not a gadget person (thankfully). We only progressed from a huge crt with built in video (yes, that's right, video) last year when our friends moved abroad and left us their flat screen. We then had to get a video on freecycle because so many of the dc's films are on video!

Dh rowing tonight. Chicken stew in slow cooker. I shall watch a spot of Glee that I have recorded but not watched with the dcs being off school then when he gets back we should just be able to squeeze in the apprentice before I go to bed.

McKayz · 19/04/2012 13:11

ZJ Yay for sleep!!!

Deids Your poor Nephew. I can't believe the school didn't notice how badly injured he was. The giant tv sounds good, not too sure about Sir Alan almost life sized Grin

I rang the local(ish) BF group this morning to see if it was ok for me to pop in sometime before baby is born. I was helpfully informed that despite what the website says the hospital stopped them using the room to save money on electricity. They haven't found anywhere else to go yet. Sad

Indith · 19/04/2012 13:24

That's just shocking Kayz! What group is it? Is it NHS or La Leche or something else? (just wondering if there are alternatives you might not know of)

Playdough in one hand. Mini egg in the other. Guess which one I just put in my mouth.

McKayz · 19/04/2012 13:25

I think it was a NHS one. There was one in Malton but they shut that one too when they stopped women going there to give birth.

I think there is a La Leche in York but its just a faff to try and get there when DH is away.

Indith · 19/04/2012 14:03

Can you get to Norton?

Indith · 19/04/2012 14:08

It is finding the groups that is always the hard part. Certainly around here there never seems to be one person who knows where they all are. The MWs at teh hospital don't know. I go to the maternity services meetings and we are all swapping info on what we are doing in which areas because there just isn't one person with all the info. We have a local mums FB group and a local la leche fb group which are always more up to date than and official websites. worth searching and asking around for similar.

McKayz · 19/04/2012 14:12

Yeah I can get to Norton. Thanks Indith.
