Thought this title was appropriate given that (hopefully) things will be looking up for everyone!

OP posts:

Oooops, many apologies wabbit, obviously mean "C sounds like he's enjoying his grub". sorry, sorry , sorry!

lexiemum · 09/02/2006 00:34

is anyone else still not weaning. I''m starting to panic now, though I know I shouldn't. I wanted to get it all under way by time I went back to work - 4weeks today - so that childminder could be given pots of pureed veggies to warm and give. At this rate we'll still be mixing baby rice with milk and I found first time round this has to be done when you need it rather than leaving in fridge and warming through - How can I make sure childminder makes it the same as me? Or does someone have a well tested tip I can borrow??

DD2(20wks) shows absolutley no interest in anything but her bottle - have tried a couple of times to feed her baby rice but doesn't register with her that its different

just don't think I'm ready to go back to work - my other nightmare is how do I get two children to childminder for 8am when currently dd1 sleeps 6.30-8am and dd2 does 10-9 and doesn't like change, different environments whatsoever. DH can't help as he's starting earlier so can pick up and i'll be back in for stories at 6.15. thankfully its only 2 days and they'll be a happy ending no doubt.

beatie · 09/02/2006 09:10

lexiemum ~ I'm sure you'll find a way to cope with the two mornings. Get as much sorted out the night before, use the morning time to get yourself ready and then get the children out of bed and dress them and leave. Can the CM give them breakfast? That would help.

Re weaning. We're not weaning yet and I hope to start around 6 months with table scraps/finger foods and miss out the puree stage. Lexiemum - perhaps you could try dd2 on some pureed fruit. Baby rice is rather bland. She might take to the fruit with more vigour.

Cabe - it was me who asked about wooden highchairs. In our last house we didn't have the space for a highchair so borrowed DBs for a short time and then used a plastic booster seat. I need to use a highchair more this time as I envisage moving it around the kitchen, Alice sitting in it, playing with toys/watching me whilst I get on with stuff. I'd prefer wooden because I'd like to remove the tray and have her sit in it against the table when she's 2/3. I'd prefer it to blend with the table.

The B R us one does look like it fits the bill.

mummyhill · 09/02/2006 09:20

Sorry I'm going to sound a bit OTT/overbearing but can we try to use a certain posters new name unless requested otherwise???

Quiz today is quite easy. I was supprised to be asked the same question twice even if it was worded slightly differently each time.

David went from 11 till 4 last night which is much better than usual. I am hoping that he will get the hang of this sleep lark before I go back to work on monday.

beatie · 09/02/2006 09:40

Oops Sorry. I'll blame JAAMY she put it back onto the tip of my tongue

mummyhill · 09/02/2006 09:49

You are forgiven my child, go say a couple of hail mary's

beatie · 09/02/2006 09:54

Oh goody

beatie · 09/02/2006 10:30

Where is everyone today? Is it too sunny for Mumsnet?

I've decided not to go to the toddler group this morning and instead I'm sorting out dd1's craft supplies. I bought a three drawer plastic thing from Wilkos and one drawer contains colouring stuff, another glue, scissors and collage stuff and the other has painting stuff in it.

I also..... wait for it..... put 150 photos into photo albums last night. Woo Hoo! I'm on a roll.

I'm going to tackle the buggyboard today and hope to take the girls for a walk around the duck pond this afternoon.

mummyhill · 09/02/2006 10:39

I agree it is quiet this morning. We are having a morning dossing in our pj's and I will attempt to get some house work done whilst dd is at nursery and david is hopefully napping!!!

beatie · 09/02/2006 12:28

Here's a new picture of my sweet baby girl.

My baby

Simplyred · 09/02/2006 12:38

Ahhh very cute Beatie - will try to add a picture of Rachel!!

Quiz was much easier - dh played at work - he was quick! I can't read that quickly!

Lovely sunny day here - can see all the dust really well!!!!

Rhumba · 09/02/2006 13:24

Preferred the usa version of quiz as I got two questions on coranation St which I've never watched in my life. Lucky guessing got one right and I did know the other one.

V cute photot beatie.

Not weaning here

mummyhill · 09/02/2006 14:25

Pick your brains time David is slightly constipated how much fresh orange to water should I be using to help him?

jaamy · 09/02/2006 14:37

Yes, I take all the blame, beatie/mummyhill. Am currently flogging myself with a thorny bush! Sincere pologies once again wabbit. Will have to ban myself from mn at late hours!
Beatie - what a cutie! Must rty to figure out how to get photos on here.

PiccadillyCircus · 09/02/2006 15:03

Afternoon .

I was trying to have a computer free day but this is much too difficult.

I will try the quiz soon.

Alice is asleep upstairs and DS is charging around making nice amounts of noise. He seems to have the bladder capacity of a small ox as we have been having very few accidents. But there was one a few minutes ago ("whoops my wee" said DS)

beatie, how is Alice's waking? My one woke at about 12, 3 and 6. I think. And DS woke at about 2:30. I want to have a full night's sleep - would be so nice .

beatie · 09/02/2006 15:11

Hmmm..... Alice's sleep wavers between bad and diabolical. She goes to bed at 7 no problem but usually wakes at 1 and 4am. The last two nights she has woken at 4 and been awake for an hour. Then she wakes up at 6:30 and is awake for the day. And then she doesn't nap. See my post in the Sleep section.

Thanks for asking It will get better, it will get better, it will get better. That's my sanity chant.

PiccadillyCircus · 09/02/2006 15:29

HAve put some photos of Ds and DD in memeber profiles but can;t link right now as DS has been waiting patiently for the CBeebies website

mummyhill · 09/02/2006 16:16

Any advice on Davids tummyache?

mummyhill · 09/02/2006 16:44

JAAMY - All is forgiven

PiccadillyCircus · 09/02/2006 16:47

I think you are meant to do a few drops of orange in a bottle/beaker of water but not sure.

Hope his tummy feels better soon.

mummyhill · 09/02/2006 16:54

thanks will give it a try when he wakes up from his nap. Poor kid exhausted himself screaming over that and his teeth. Odd I know most kids go the other way when teething.

pooka · 09/02/2006 17:16

I'm loving the quizzes! Brings out my competitive streak.
Tom's sleep has completely deteriorated - wakes about 3 times a night HUNGRY. May try solids next week, though will see if feeding more during the day helps.
We've got a tripp trapp for Lucy and will prob get another for Tom. Though might try Lucy with the handysitt and move tom into Lucy's tripp trapp, depending on how possessive she is! She does love it - and I think they're fab, though they don't have a tray so the table does tend to look like a bomb's hit it after meals.
Thanks for all the routines - am giving it a go tomorrow night, so will let you know how I coped.

wabbitintheheadlamps · 09/02/2006 17:32

Sorry Beatie - thought it was Milward and thanks for apologies on the name thing... it's just that it links me to RL (now I'm self flagulating for having been so blase) Whack [ow] Whack [ow] Whack [ow]

I daren't try the quiz today... I'm scared I'll end up at the bottom of the league again - if there are 'corrie' questions I'm bound to do badly... if I do do it will you all promise not to laugh?

mummyhill · 09/02/2006 17:41

Promise.

mummyhill · 09/02/2006 20:15

Yipee - Diluted fresh orange and a nice warm bath have done the trick, only just scooped him out of the bath in time much to dd's relief as we were all sharing a bath this evening. I have a much happier little boy now.

Both children are clean, DD is in bed and david is sat in his chair watching the cat. He is due a bottle at ten so am not to bothered if he sleeps or not as long as he is contented. I am hoping that he will go through till at least 4 then, and that DD doesn't have a night time accident so that I can catch up on a bit of sleep.
