Thought this title was appropriate given that (hopefully) things will be looking up for everyone!

Hope all well. Having a bit of a rough day today - just feel like throwing in the towel. dd is lovely but....but I'mjust not in the mood, feel tense and short-tempered and hate being mean to her. Tom also lovely and good-natured, but I'm just willing him to sleep. Can hear him on the monitor gurgling to himself and just dreading having to get him up and then dd waking from her nap as well.
Should count my blessings really as generally they are pretty well in sync in the afternoon and I usually get about an hour to myself, but it's just not happening today. Have scalded myself on the kettle, have got nothing constructive done, have chivvied and harried poor dd and bitten her head off and have just bunged Tom in his cot. Even got flowers delivered from dh earlier and bit the head off the poor delivery guy for waking Tom up (was trying to get him to nap on me). Only 2.5 hours to go though until dh home so will limp on until then and then just collapse. Am so jealous of him being at work today.

sarahhal · 14/02/2006 16:28

Hi all - hope all of you down in the dumps feeling better.

Had planned lovely meal tonight with DH - the plan was that i'd do the main course and he'd do starter and pud ( a cunning trick to get him to cook!) BUT am fed up with plumber in house and Dh at home for half term annoying me already and making life harder than when I'm on my own with the boys, so I just can't be bothered ( how awful is that!1) Plus he hasn't even got me a card and to be honest i don't care.

So we shall have a take away from

this yummy restaurant near us

What would you all choose??!! I'm thinking stuff the budget and have Goan king prawns.

Simplyred · 14/02/2006 17:44

I'll have the virtual Hara Bhara Kebab thanks sarahhal!

Hope things seem brighter Pooka.

And Wabitt - I tried to write a similar type of letter once (in my youth) got frustrated that I couldn't word it correctly so wrote Alanis Morriestte(sp) lyrics on the bathroom mirror in lipstick as I moved out 'There was a slap in the face, how quickly I was replaced and are you thinking of me when you xxxx her' - as usuall I failed miserably to maintain the moral high ground!!! Thinking of you - I know you'll do exactly whats right for your situation.

Simplyred · 14/02/2006 17:46

He he jaamy - got the £4.50 Tescos roses from dh!!! no card - but roses are nice!!

Simplyred · 14/02/2006 18:58

Oh Milward - best wishes to dd1 xxx

mummyhill · 14/02/2006 21:08

My hours are 18:45 - 23:45 on Monday, Wednesday and Friday then I do 11:00 - 20:00 on Saturday. When you are up at least once in the night with either a baby or a 4yr old with a wet bed and have to be up again at 6 to supervise the kids etc. It means I won't be getting much sleep for a while!!!!

Simplyred · 14/02/2006 21:13

Take care Mummyhill. Is it very busy where you work - do you get any chance to sit down with a cup of tea?

milward · 14/02/2006 23:09

Thanks xxx - dd1 is being brave - much more than me.

Sarahhal - love indian cooking - great menu! fab restaurant - lucky you!

mummyhill - hope your hours will be ok xxx

mummyhill · 15/02/2006 08:23

I am a checkout operator for one of the major supermarket chains. So yes it is busy. I get a fifteen minute break durring an evening shift and I get a half hour lunch with a fifteen min tea break on a sat.

I have physio today, didn't realise when I booked it that it was half term so I have to take the children with me. That should be fun.

Simplyred · 15/02/2006 11:38

Best wishes Mummy Hill.

We are playing Restaurants here - have made an open/closed sign - a menu and layed the table - now the food!

Swimming lesson was good - ds really getting the hang of it.

wabbitintheheadlamps · 15/02/2006 13:11

Milward - it's such an anxious time knowing a child has to go into hospital... Thinking of you and hoping your dd1 will breeze through this like only children can {{{Hugs}}}

Simply Red - what's on the menu then...? Have fun!

I've started a thread in Relationships about my situation... some of the feedback is very fair - it's helping me to build a sense of expectation from him - he's proven that he can't handle an unconventional adult relationship (living apart) so I'm justified in not continuing the relationship unless he's willing to commit to reassuring me and building our future together.

It's so difficult even to contemplate not resuming our relationship when I feel so much love for him... but thanks Mummyhill - I know I'm strong too at heart.

Thankyou all for such support - I don't know what I'd have done in the wee small hours without being able to splurge out my feelings on here without fear of you all groaning with irritation at my preoccupation with the subject!

I'm happier today anyway... It's not Valentines Day anymore

Simplyred · 15/02/2006 19:52

Hello again!

Our cars given up the ghost! - Needs a new head gaskett (sp?) expensive apparently! all we need. Have borrowed my Mums car - as we live out of town. urrrrrrrrrrr ur!

wabbitintheheadlamps · 15/02/2006 23:10

SR... Head Gasket not really that big a job - the gasket is the thin seal between the head (top) and the block (middle) of your engine. Nothing metal has gone - only thing to worry about is if the gasket going is a symptom of something more serious.(ie warped head that needs skimming to make it sit on the block properly) I take it you've got oil drips under your car and it's misfiring?

Ring round garages and see what quotes you get before you decide to wave goodbye to the car. x

Thankyou everyone for your lovely messages xxx

wabbitintheheadlamps · 15/02/2006 23:13

Probably are two t's in Gaskett come to think of it!

I'm off to bed soon - I'm minding a friends 11 year old whilst said friend goes on a blind date... She's lovely but either very brave or very foolish - don't think I could do that.

milward · 16/02/2006 13:40

Hello All xxx Anyone use reusable nappies? Wondering what to go for here.

Simplyred · 16/02/2006 14:51

No not yet - been thinking about reusables too Milward.

Understand how bad disposables are and will clog land fill for ever! but I remember my Mum scrapping and soaking and washing my brothers nappies the time it took and the yuck!

Interested though - I may think about it next week - once I have my head back! to much demand on my time this week! (I wonder why!) (eye spinning/crazy emoticon)

Simplyred · 16/02/2006 16:47

Got a cracked Cylinder Wabbitt! will be 2 weeks until we get the car back - dh's mate has to fit as in and order the parts! I don't like our car -I got me a Chysler its as big as a whale and its about to set sail!

beatie · 16/02/2006 17:01

I use reusables SR. Haven't much time to write now but if there's anything specific you'd like to know just ask away.

BTW - we don't scrape and soak. When dd1 was on solids we used a biodegradable disposable liner and flushed it down the loo with any solid poos. Or else used fleece liners. The poo rolls clean off!

We wash ours with a cold Pre-wash with Napisan added (that's all I found to work Wabbit) and then wash them on 60 degrees with a little non-bio detergent added.

We use Tots Bots, Pre-folds and Mother ease fitted. It's strangely addictive once you start.

wabbitintheheadlamps · 16/02/2006 18:06

I use washables - and really get on well with TotBots - using the liners Beatie mentioned too - actually I can hear very interesting nappy ation as I type so will have to go...

TotsBots seem not to leak round his chicken-legs like Cotton Bottoms do... I think the Cotton Bottoms work better with chubbier Babes - my sister swears by them xxx

wabbitintheheadlamps · 16/02/2006 18:23

car in real strife then! - I like the chrysler PT I think it is... swanky looking!

wabbitintheheadlamps · 16/02/2006 18:25

Were you singing SR???

mummyhill · 16/02/2006 22:42

I am determined to sort out my webcam/audio link/speakers some time soon. It is currently driving me up the wall.

Simplyred · 17/02/2006 12:43
