Morning!

Sympathy for the graveyard shift, it just takes some babies longer to get there.

I love the cutted up pear, so familiar!

hawthers hurray!

Miri is really sicky this morning and DD1 is yet to emerge. Not sure when DD1 went to sleep, but it was after DP and me!

Plans for today...

Finish the sleeves on the blanket for my doula's baby.
Insert lots of fruit and veg into the DDs as they have been a little reluctant lately.
Dig another veg bed (if it doesn't start pouring down, which it might)
Paint with the DDs.

Coming up for air! mother now gone home, DS suitably spoilt rotten for his 4th birthday. Nice just to have the house back to normal

Will read through pages see how everyone's doing. Enjoy blue water today for those that are going, hopefully I can come to the next one. Smile

BeeMyBaby · 27/02/2012 09:09

welcome RoxanneY

sotired I'm not in maternity jeans but I am in super loose waisted (mostly very elasticated) skirts and trousers - my normal jeans do manage to do up just but have an overhang at every point.

OiMissus · 27/02/2012 09:34

Welcome roxanne!
lmf could you express some and keep a spare feed in storage for those tomes when your nipples can't take any more? Although i appreciate that finding a time inbetwren feeds to be able to express is not easy! Just letting them have one little rest sometimes can make all the difference. You have my sympathies.

Mmmmcheese · 27/02/2012 09:35

plu I think it was between 3 months and 6 months that DS did his weekly poos. They were totally normal in appearnace so don't think he was constipated. I spoke to someone at the time, can't remember if HV or GP and they said it can be normal for EBF to do this as they get really efficient at using all the nutrients in the milk so don't need to produce much waste. DD has stopped pooing overnight now which is great but still does a poo at every feed during the day.

I seem to have the worst luck with regard to nightime wakings and feedings! DD is nearly 12 weeks and is 14 lbs but she is still waking every 1 or 2 hrs in the night for feeds. I think she just wants to suck to get back to sleep as I can't believe she is that hungry in the night but she just won't take a dummy and gags on them. I've tried a comforter too and she didn't take to it. I have the cot right next to the bed so don't have to get out of bed in the night but need to sit up to feed as have a fast let down and can't feed lying down as the milk comes out of DDs nose!

Can't remember who said LO got to sleep watching their mobile. DD gets hyper excited watching her mobile and no way would she get to sleep while it is going!

Someone also mentioned moses to cot transition. I just did it cold turkey with both DCs and they didn't even seem to notice.

aethel I'm going to a wedding in a few weeks and am taking pram and sling. I have a Babymel changing bag which is ace and has special straps that secure it to the handles of any buggy/pram so no need to carry it or put under the pram. Not seen any others like it. My problem with the wedding is that the dress I want to wear is not wxactly breaastfeeding compatible! Not sure what to do as don't want to buy anything new but don't think DD will be happy with expressed milk all day and I'd need to feed her sometime anyway to stop my boobs exploding! Wedsding starts at 4pm and we'll probably leave at 8/9pm to go home. Anyone got any advice on feeding in a dress?!

MissRee · 27/02/2012 09:37

Welcome Roxanne Grin

SoTired can you go to an asda or primarni and get some cheapy cheap jeans for the interim? Primarni have got some really high waisted jeans at the moment which might work well?

Mmmmcheese · 27/02/2012 09:38

Oh and I'm still wearing maternity jeans. Whoever was asking, you could always buy another pair of maternity jeans and wear them as "normal" jeans IYSWIM. I regularly wear my maternity jeans even when not pregnant as they are so comfy and no-one can tell!

LittleMissFlustered · 27/02/2012 10:06

Oi I can't express, I gave the electric pump back to the hospital and the manual one doesn't have any effect on my work-to-rule union-member boobs grump

Octopus was angry this morning, he was fed, clean, dry and winded but still screamed most of the way to school:( He dropped off just as the bus got to our destination. I suspect I got many mucky looks from the commuter types as my four year old was having a morning too >_<

I got home thirty minutes ago, I made and ate toast with octopus still in his wrap, made a coffee and am sat in bed donating a boob to the boy-placating cause as I type. Monday smells:)

OiMissus · 27/02/2012 11:10

Your Monday sounds grim. Sorry. Sad
Mmmm - good point! I'll be in work all day tomorrow, and was planning to wear a dress as LO will be with grandma. Freedom to wear a dress for once. But my boobs may explode - hadn't thought of that. I could take my pump in, but I can't express in a dress and there's no plug in the toilets, and my office has a floor to ceiling window...

AWomanCalledHorse · 27/02/2012 11:10

Just a quick note; I'm not able to make it to bluewater today, waiting for an emergencey dental appointment. YAY!!
look forward to seeing some of you next time :)

Welcome Roxanne!!
Good luck with moving him, my DS hated the moses basket so was rather happy that he could wave his limbs about freely in the cot!!

SoTired, DS & I are currently watching music channels, he's a proper tv addict
I'm wearing cargo pants atm (no point wearing jeans when I get sicked on everyday, don't like washing jeans often), would they work for you?
Did you use a maternity/back support band thing? Could that be useful?

msbuggywinkle · 27/02/2012 11:15

Dresses and bfing...I wear dresses a lot, low enough to get a boob out of the top, then I wear scarves to drape! Wearing a vest top under a dress can work too, vest up, dress down.

One sleeve nearly done.
Two apples and a banana each in the DDs.
It is going to rain lots though so I will put digging on hold for today.

Coolhand · 27/02/2012 12:40

Productive morning Msbuggy!

DS currently sleeping on my knee and I am debating whether to try and move him to crib to get something done and risk waking him up or just staying here!

Aethel I'm a little late to the discussion but I agree take both buggy and sling.

Welcome Roxanne!

Hope all those meeting up today have a good time!

As predicted, Luke was unsettled last night but I can't complain having had some nights of sleep. DH and I are heading out tonight for the first time alone - it's a post retirement do for a close colleague - a little night at an indpt cinema which you can book out and they will screen what you want/do food etc. I think we've got a bit of Wallace and Gromit.

Right - that's it, got to take the risk, I'm moving

KateM77 · 27/02/2012 12:59

Welcome Roxanne and welcome back tyel

Congrats Hawthers

Jealous of the Bluewater meet up, hope you all have a lovely time and that the traffic doesn't defeat Aethel

Aethel I'm planning to go into London next week with DS, to see friends for lunch and to pop into the office. I was thinking the buggy and baby carrier combo would work best. Thanks for the rucksack tip LMF, I hadn't thought about that and it'll make life much easier. I was lucky with DD that we had a London flat at the time and I could go in on the DLR. It has lifts everywhere and platform level trains, so I could just wheel her in the buggy the whole time.

DS is still in no kind of routine and not sleeping through. We've had two random nights where he slept for about 8 hours, but otherwise I'm up either once or twice with him. I'm pretty sure DD was sleeping through (or at least consistently for a long stretch every night) at this stage, but then she was considerably smaller than DS is so I think my breast milk filled her up for longer. Who knows?!

hawthers · 27/02/2012 14:08

The official verdict is a gain of 260g.

plutocrap · 27/02/2012 14:22

Sod. Just caught DS with my lipstick, and he asked me what " this chocolatey thing" was. I'm never going to keep him away from it until he tries it, am I? Then it will be like when he ate a blue crayon and cried blue (teeth with little azure halos) and pooed blue.

AnAirOfHope · 27/02/2012 14:32

go Hawthers - thats great news Smile

We need to put house on market - i've just been putting if off for a bit but now i need a playroom and a bedroom for DD!

seven77 · 27/02/2012 14:34

2 miles in new shoes, I now have massive blisters! Worth it for a trip to the shop I used to work in, they sell the worlds best pies, steak and Stilton for tea, yummy!

hawthers that's brilliant news, what a gain! Does that bump him back up the charts a little or stop him going down anymore?

msbuggy sounds like you've been busy, DS won't let me knit during the day and I'm too knackered to do loads at night, mine progresses very slowly.

AnAirOfHope · 27/02/2012 14:40

Plu i would hide all lipstick and makeup untill he is older or he will eat it Grin

Aaron liked to eat soduocrem, strange child. The first time he did i took him to A&E thinking he had been posioned but the nurse just laughted at me and said a little bit is harmless. I asked what about half the tub and she told me he would not have eaten that as it does not taste very nice. Me: "You might think that but my son just eat half the tub!" - he was fine by the way Hmm

After the second time we changed to burty bee's bum cream with the srew top.

Mmmmcheese · 27/02/2012 14:47

DS has his own make-up bag! I put all the stuff that has run out in and make sure he can't unscrew anything and nothing he could choke on, and he plays with it while I get ready in the morning. Its mainly old masacaras that are screwed so tight he can't undo them. Although he particularly loves my eyelash curlers and pretends to curl his eyelashes when I let him get his hands on them!

plutocrap · 27/02/2012 14:49

Air, he likes powdering his face, and has never licked that, so never thought makeup might be dangerous for him! (and I don't believe he can catch "the gay" from makeup, either! Wink) Glad your Air was okay!

Mmmmcheese · 27/02/2012 14:49

Forgot to say congrats hawthers ! Great news. You deserve something special to celebrate this afternoon. I just $ade some flapjacks

Sequin1 · 27/02/2012 14:50

Fab news hawthers!Grin

AWomanCalledHorse · 27/02/2012 14:54

Yay! Congrats Hawthers!!

Selfish moment, can anyone help me re.teat sizes for DS? this is the thread explaining problem. I'm off to bash my head against the wall whilst DS continues to be gorgeous but problematic. :(

AnAirOfHope · 27/02/2012 14:55

Some of the best make-up artest are men - why not start them early Grin

hawthers · 27/02/2012 15:09

It looks like that gain will get us crossing some lines back up... Going to keep doing what we are doing and see what happens.
