Yay well done Hawthers Grin

Lovely to finally meet some of the ladies and babies today! The old couple sat behind me commented on how well behaved the little ones were Of course we all had the bestest looking babies in the whole of bluewater today as well Wink

MissRee · 27/02/2012 15:31

I might have bought Freya her first pair of jeans whilst at bluewater... I managed to resist the dinky ballet pumps tho Grin

missree just wait until they're toddlers causing chaos.

I cant bring myself to put Eva in denim, little dresses and tights are just too cute. I need to buy some more though, most of hers are now bum-flashing length, even the 3-6 month ones. Annoyingly she was given a couple of thin summery 6-9 month ones for Christmas which will probably be too short by the summer.

hawthers hurray!

seven leggings! Just a couple of rows on the sleeves to go, I knit or crochet constantly as it stops me from going loopy (I have ADHD). I keep it to projects that are easy to put down downstairs though, the lace knitting is saved for when they are asleep!

NorthernChinchilla · 27/02/2012 17:03

I was just going to ask if you'd resisted the lure of BabyGap MissRee! You're a far nicer Mum than I; I treated myself to a new cardie at FatFace, whereas DS got some onesies from Mothercare. TBF though, he's had a new wardrobe bought for him four times over, from newborn to 6-9 months stuff, so the second new item for me in flippin' months I think is justified!

Nice to hear that about the couple behind us too. Was lovely to meet up and put faces to nicknames, and of course our babies were the cutest and most edible even my little tank of a child.

Hope all those who had to deal with the M25 did so successfully, and will get organising the next one Smile

tyel- so glad you're feeling well and posting again, given all you've been through. I'm not surprised your DH swooned over HLC, I would too! And I'm in the same boat as you and easily around the night-time wakings- it just seems normal to me. Overnight he'll go anything from 2-5 hours, so will wake 2-3 times, but like you co-sleeping saves my sanity!

My DS is in front of the TV now sotired- he likes it, and is contentedly wiggling around on his mat in front of the TV, so who am I to argue?! He also watches the footie sitting on his Dad's lap, it's rather sweet... I salve my conscience by putting on BBC News 24 though Grin!

Welcome Roxanne, good to meet you.

And that's the best news Hawthers, I am so pleased for you. Hopefully this is the start of an upwards trend, and it will allow you to fully enjoy being a Mum.

Got the washing on now so that I've done one bit of housework and not just enjoyed myself all day!

Oh, and now have to be aware of DS's new trick- he can push himself along when he's on his back on the changemat, IYSWIM, so would be able to push himself off the edge of the table whilst being changed!

HoneyLovesCake · 27/02/2012 17:32

This thread moves so fast! Went out with the grandparents yesterday & so much seems to have happened on here..

Well done on the weight gain hawthers

Glad Ali's feeling better Oi

Welcome Roxanne

Rocco is a telly addict too Sotired & I'm afraid I encourage it as I've been an addict since I was a LO so I figure there's no avoiding it. He'll be screaming his head off because I dare to change his 6th pooey nappy of the morning >_< & then catch sight of the tv screen & stop completely. He kicks a lot & babbles at it while watching so it's helping his development...right? Grin I'm also one still in my maternity jeans but that's because they're much nicer & fancier than my pre-pregnancy primarni's.

easily Grin @ are there drugs involved Whenever, I mention to DP that some of your LOs are sleeping through he looks very knowing & says Calpol Grin He refuses to believe otherwise...not that DS ever wakes him with us cosleeping I don't think he even wakes himself, just stirs enough to wake me & then dream feeds.

tyel Blush @ your DH's compliment especially as I'm still a bit of a mess; far from the yummy mummy I thought I'd be at this point Hmm I've pm'd you but go ahead & post the pics; can't wait to see the one of Rocco & Pirran studying each other.

plu the tantrums thread is priceless. Had me in hysterics Grin No idea if the trip to Goa is still on; we haven't discussed it since but I made a point of saying (quite truthfully) how exhausting the weekend was without him so we shall see. He's just come in from work & is being quite sappy as DS has apparently changed in the past 2 days Hmm

MissRee · 27/02/2012 17:34

What can I say... they had 30% off all jeans. My debit card just fell into the machine Grin

I on the other hand am refusing to buy myself any new clothes until I've lost some of the baby blubber!!!

northern as you're only 10 minutes from me, if you fancy meeting up in between official meets, I'll come down and meet you in Rochester for a coffee?

I'll admit to plonking Freya in her rocking chair in front of Baby TV when I got home so I could get on with bottle making and sorting dinner. I do feel guilty for making the telly the baby-sitter though Blush

MissRee · 27/02/2012 17:53

Oh I also meant to say how impressed I was at how baby-friendly the JL cafe is! Special bottle warming jugs and members of staff to help carry trays so you can push your buggy!

I later went into Krispy Kreme to have coffee and feed Freya and was not so impressed. They wouldn't let me have a jug of hot water but said that if I gave them the bottle they would warm it for me... then they super heated it and I had to wait ages for it to cool down enough, all whilst Freya was screaming at the injustice of it all!!!!

LittleMissFlustered · 27/02/2012 18:37

Most cafes don't let you have jugs of water as the safety elves disapprove:(

MissRee · 27/02/2012 18:40

The world has gone mad... how is it different to a hot tea or coffee? Hmm

LittleMissFlustered · 27/02/2012 19:13

They're insured for the drinks as its the purpose of the shop. They're not covered for accidents due to random jugs of water though. Mad, but true.

LittleMissFlustered · 27/02/2012 19:15

This is also the reason that my other boy learned to take his bottles at whatever temperature they came out of my bag at, much easier for me:o

LittleMissFlustered · 27/02/2012 19:25

Helpful staff cafes: Sainsbury, M&S and Tesco too. Have also found staff in my local Starbucks happy to help menu delivering my bucket large coffee to my table:o

MissRee · 27/02/2012 19:25

Shows my first-time mum silliness then... I thought they had to be warmed Blush

mopsytop · 27/02/2012 19:46

Yay hawthers!!

Minimopsy takes bottles cold from the fridge, lukewarm or warm which is very handy I have to say! In middle of night the bottles are cold from fridge, during the day sometimes warm if I've just prepared the feed and when I go out I tend to bring cartons (don't have to feed her that often when out so it's not really too extravagant!) so lukewarm. It defs makes life easier.

EasilyBored · 27/02/2012 20:17

WooHoo Hawthers!

seven77 · 27/02/2012 21:10

I have one of these for warming bottles when I'm out. It holds just about enough water to heat two bottles, keeps it warm for hours and fits in the changing bag.

msbuggy if it helps I think I'd go mad if I didn't knit! I can't just do nothing, whereas DH will happily watch mind-numbing crap on TV. If I'm not knitting it's because I'm in the middle of a book I can't put down.

Very jealous of the meet-ups going on!

OP posts:
Figgygal · 27/02/2012 21:11

I have to confess I've been known to heat bottles in microwave ... Bad mother alert Grin

MissRee · 27/02/2012 21:18

Ooooh I might need one if those seven... I wonder whether my Avent bottles are compatible?

Stellieboo · 27/02/2012 21:20

Hi All

Sorry haven't had to catch up on posts.

At 4am I woke with sickness and diarrhoea I went on to be sick about 6 times which stopped at 9am. I have been to the doctors and he said that it is food poisoning (we went to in-laws last night and they re-heated my dinner as I was feeding the LO- they also buy lots of Asda Oops reduced items so pork was probably one of them).

Doctor advised to keep drinking which I have but I have just been sick again. Any other ideas for keeping bf supply up?

Many thanks

Stellieboo · 27/02/2012 21:21

PS- LO wont take a bottle

Mmmmcheese · 27/02/2012 21:35

When I was in hosp after my EMCS and couldn't get to the breakfast room for breakfast the catering staff weren't allowed to give me toast as they weren't allowed to use the toaster for health and safety reasons - mad!!

stellie sorry about the food poisoning - bad in-laws! I think rest and skin to skin are the only other things you can do. I had norovirus when DS was a few months old and he started feeding every hour so that might happen. It shouldn't affect your supply too much but you could get v fdehydrated. I had brown urine (sorry TMI)! In terms of drinkling try really little sips every 5 mins or so. Its a pain but makes a massive difference and hopefully shouldn't trigger your stomach to react.

OiMissus · 27/02/2012 21:52

Hi stellie, msbuggy the wonderfully helpful bf counsellor on this thread has told us-I believe - that your bug won't be passed on to your LO through breastmilk, so you're safe to bf. However, you may feel too poorly to bf. I wouldn't worry about your supply, a day or two would have a little effect I guess, but you'd be back up to speed within days. Your breasts will hurt though, so even if you can't bf, you should try and express. (also will help maintain supply).
Hurrah hurrah for Farley! Clever little man knowing that it was time to gain to keep mummy sane! I'm relieved for you hawthers, that's really great news.
And yep, Ali likes the tv. Any lights really, but the tv is the most convenient!
Had a lovely time at baby massage. Even though 10 mins in Alistair decided he was starving and had to be fed immediately. So we fed and observed. He finished in time for the back massage and proceeded to show off - he held his head up high whilst lying on his tummy! The first time it'd happened without his roll. I was v v proud! And of course he peed on me twice. Grin
Looking forward to next week.Wink
Tomorrow I'm going in to work. I'm going to wear a new Karen Millen dress (picked up in sales), stilettos and a handbag that is not a nappy bag. Grin

seven77 · 27/02/2012 21:58

missree I have Avent bottles, i think the compatible with tommee tippee bottles just means its big enough for wide neck bottles.

stellieboo sorry you've got food poisoning, I had campylobacter a couple of years ago, it was bloody awful. Plenty of rest and drink sugary squash with a little salt in it (bizarrely nice!). The pharmacist told me its just as good as buying the rehydration powders.
