Have gone with LMFs title suggestion :)

Wow, super impressed at all those managing to DTD especially those who are getting pleasure too! We tried last week. Did not go well. I was tense and it hurt and then I got more tense. And then I cried. So we stopped. Oh well, will try again over the weekend before my 8 week check next week so I can mention it if still a problem

TMI Alert I think my episiotimy/tear scar is causing the problem. I have had a feel and there is less room at the entrance than previously. Time will tell if this is a good thing Blush

mopsytop · 15/02/2012 14:23

kitty my GP said mine will be tight and sore for a while and sex will be sore, just to take it v slowly. She said to stretch it with my fingers in the bath (I had a big episiotomy also).

mopsytop · 15/02/2012 14:24

But that's why I am so scared-and scared of exact same thing happening, it being sore and me getting more and more tense/stressed...

aethelfleda · 15/02/2012 14:48

Went to the HV and DS is trending towards the 25th centile: but having left it two weeks he'd actially had some time so he's now 10 lb. I'm more convinced than ever that he's meant to be a bit of a skinny lad, plus was hd back by the tongue tie. Told the HV i didn't want to get him weighed much and she suggested monthly. Which will probably happen purely because the weighing clinic is part of the school and I'm there anyway.

She did however prove the general rule of HV advice (50% fine and 50% total sloblocks) by suggesting that as I was breastfeeding and he has two Sisters, "he needs multivitamins as it will boost his immune system and otherwise he will get lots of nasty colds and infections"....oh dear. I asked her how vitamins would help his immune system (just out of interest, to see what wacky health beliefs were in her head, or maybe she'd heard about superdosing with vitamin C during a cold and had become confused?) Cue HV looking completely blank and waffling bravely about how having three children I clearly wouldn't be eating well, and multivitamins would make the world of difference... Oh well, she was nice otherwise. Does make you wonder how often health visitors update their information.... Anyway, hurrah for being off the weighing treadmill.

Figgygal · 15/02/2012 14:50

We have 8 wk check on friday think we get appt details for injections then not looking forward to them based on your experiences. Am currently sitting on floor holding baby mirror in one hand and typing with other he loves mirrors, he's cooing which usually is a 2minute warning he's getting bored and i need to think of something new to distract him with.

Hello to the new arrivals!!

Today I'm trying him on smaller bottles more often at 2.5 hrs to try and get ahead of the hysterical screaming hunger fits so of course he's crying today after 2 hours so i give up off the shop later for hungry baby/fat boy milk for him and massive dairy milk for me Grin

Sympathy to you ladies yet to dtd I was really worried too after an episiotomy and a graze but after almost 8 weeks post birth (and at least 3.5 months in total) it was fine the thought was definitely worse than reality.

mopsytop · 15/02/2012 14:55

Nice one aethel. most recent hv visits have been retired lady from the hv bank staff, she's fab. Sensible common sense advice. Other hv was totally I'll informed. How she was a qualified nurse I don't know! The difference between individual hvs is astonishing!

NorthernChinchilla · 15/02/2012 15:09

Oooh, another one- welcome Stellieboo! Lots of us are enduring/have endured the evening grumps, which aren't fun. It makes you really feel for people (including my poor parents!) who have to endure full-blown colic. That's a pain about the expressed milk; you mean she's refusing the bottle full stop? There are some very experienced people on here who will be able to give you tips, and try out the kellymom site.

We had to have two goes kitty before getting there - I think the 'go slow' is good advice as is possibly being a little tipsy. Not that I was, but I would have if I'd thought about it Smile

Glad that all settling down on the weight front aethel, that's reassuring. I'm just waiting for someone's HV to suggest coffee enemas or something, there do seem to be some off-the-wall ones out there...

Kitty5824 · 15/02/2012 15:26

So I should add wine and some KY Jelly to my shopping list?!

In other news, must remember to be nice to DH tonight - he has 3 job interviews tomorrow (one with the recruitmet agency man) and it would be useful if he got one of the jobs as we are moving at Easter whether he has a job or not!!!

AnAirOfHope · 15/02/2012 16:07

Hi to newbies Smile

Hope having growth spurt and will only give me 5 min break so quick post, will catch up in a bit.

DTD- DH saw me give birth and Hope coming out and i think it has put him off as i have offered 3 times and been turned down so i'm not going to ask again ever Sad it has been four months since last time Sad I know this would happen and i asked him not to watch but he wanted too and said it made no diffrence but it has Sad I also feed unlter unsexy with leaky boobs and baby sick on me. DH went to work today without saying i love you as well so i feel shit about our relationship right now but i'm too tired to be bothered and i think its up to him to put it right!

gerr Hope crying, i'm going to get her weighted tomoro as she has been like this for 3 days now so must have put a bit on.

OiMissus · 15/02/2012 17:46

Air ((hugs))
Mine is the opposite today. He was really snotty earlier. Aren't saline drops rather good? After a couple of drips and a sneeze or two, I've been able to pull some really long bogies out of LO's nose. Quite gross but satisfying at the same time. He hates it - well it must tickle - he cries for a few seconds and then realises that he can breathe, and calms instantly. :)
Anyway, he's been asleep pretty much all day - I guess to fight off the cold. So I've done lots of cleaning. I'll go and prep dinner whilst I can.

KateM77 · 15/02/2012 19:58

Welcome stelliboo

Well DD slept 3hrs 45 mins today, which she obviously needed. Fingers crossed she'll now be on the mend. DS has been a bit dopey today too, following the jabs. No idea what this will mean for the night ahead, but at least I had a relatively restful day!

TMI alert: Kitty I'd say definitely get the KY. I had an episiotomy with DD and ended up with a dry spot where it had been. Still haven't DTD since DS arrived - prolapse and exhaustion aren't great aphrodisiacs!

AWomanCalledHorse · 15/02/2012 20:40

Welcome Stellieboo!

Air, have you spoken to DH about DTD? Hope it gets better for you soon. Hurrah for Hope & her growth spurt!!
DS is almost out of his 0-3 clothes (at 8wks!!), he's not big/chunky, just really, really long.

Good luck tomorrow Mr.Kitty!! fingers crossed he gets one of them!

Touching much, much wood..but DS & DH are both asleep atm, DS seems to be settling into a routine.

luckysevens · 15/02/2012 21:40

Hi stellieboo.

I've put Eva to bed in her own room tonight just to see if it makes any difference to her early waking. I can't understand why she wakes early every morning, usually it's 4am but we've had a couple of later ones. I wouldn't mind if she was just an early riser but as soon we pick her up she stops crying and falls asleep but we can't put her down again. Fingers crossed!

Figgygal · 15/02/2012 22:39

Ladies

Do I need to change tears for giving hungry baby? Very strangely he's had a carton of it before no problem tonight first attempt at giving it to him from powder he's choking on it and spitting all down his face, thought he might not be hungry but he then took a bottle of normal sma instead....confused.com

Figgygal · 15/02/2012 22:41

Change teats even.....flaming auto correct Envy

BeeMyBaby · 15/02/2012 22:46

hello Stellieboo

I don't have much to add and DD2 is largely getting ignored for high maintenance ill DD1. DD2 keeps getting ruddy eye ingections from DD1 jamming her fingers in there, its usually the left but she gave her a cereal smeared kiss next to her right eye this morning and now its bunged up. I am shoving BM in it but its been on/off for two weeks now (absolutely fine one day then reoccurs the next) Sad.

SoTiredoftheWheelsontheBus · 15/02/2012 23:41

welcome to all newbies :)

coolhand - you mentioned you were still bleeding - when was dc born? you might want to mention it to your gp. I continued bleeding until week 8,mentioned it to my gp at 6 week check, and had an ultrasound and things aren't quite right - it#s not painful, but is occasionally uncomfortable. have just finished a course of antibiotics but ut hasn#t changed anything, so gp is going to refer me to a gynaecologist.

had a lovely day today - took dcs to theatre for the first time ever as half term treat. ds1 (4) loved it, it was about the old woman who swallowed a fly, and hewas joining in with the songs. Ds2 was good, but distracted from feeding by all the noise and lots to see until I made a little muslin tent over his eyes and my shoulder, then he went tto sleep.

bought an angelcaremonitor today, as ds2 has almost outgrown his moses basket, and wecan;t fit acot into our room, so he'llbe in hs own room in a couple of days. Monitor is currently charging, but there's a multipage instruction booklet on how to set it up, which'll be my chore for tomorrow

apologies for the typos. am typing one-handed in the dark, only with the light from the monitor so ds will hopefully go back to sleep soon. here's hoping for a good night for us all

Mmmmcheese · 16/02/2012 00:01

I have an Angelcare monitor and really like it, is very reassuring and once you've set it up is easy to use. The light is enough for me to bfeed with too.

DH out this eve so took DD to bed at 8 and shE was asleep by 9 so already had 2 and a half hrs sleep, normally she's only just stopped grizzling. Doing first feed of te nigght, is likelu to be three Hmm

ds decided that the growth spurt I thought he was doing last week, was actually not, so he'll have one now instead, thanks. Either that or he just thought waking at 1 is what all the trendy kids are doing.

mopsytop · 16/02/2012 01:26

Hello! Minimopsy woke at 1 instead of 11. Interested to see when she nex wakes up-at 4 or if she will go through now. Thought she had a routine going but it's changing yet again!

aethelfleda · 16/02/2012 04:54
Coolhand · 16/02/2012 05:19

Thanks wheelsonthebus - they took some swabs to check for infection but they came back clear. I went back on the pill and they suggested it may be hormonal and to come back in another month if it doesn't settle. Feel like it's stopping this last 2 days so we'll see.

Luke sleeps 7-11 so well but I always wake him at that stage. Tempted to let him sleep on but a friend did that and her baby woke every hour from 1.30! Tonight he only slept until 2 in the second stretch, there were several periods of me putting in dummy, then I fell back asleep and it was suddenly 4.30! I presume he fell back asleep in between because don't think I would have slept through 2 hrs of crying - let's hope not.

I hope luckysevens you've had a breakthrough with the early waking!

mopsytop · 16/02/2012 06:46

She went through until half six. Heard her stirring at half two but then she did a fart and went back to sleep!! This means she dropped a feed yesterday and had five instead of six. Wonder what will happen today ...

I am starvers ! Is my own fault as didn't much like my dinner last night and only ate a bit then surreptitiously threw rest away (didn't wantvto insult husband who made it, normally he's an amazing cook!). So as a result am now ravenous!!!!

Hope you all had good nights ...
