Hiya, I'm a bit late to the party, anyone mind if I stop in? I'm Heather, baby Caspar was born on Christmas day so will be 7 weeks tomorrow (where has the time gone?!). Things are generally ok, although he's not keen on sleeping at night or sleeping without being held. Mostly he likes to eat (gone from 6lb 12 at birth to 11 lb 8 this Wednesday). We're up in north Manchester if there are any other Manchester mums!

MissRee · 11/02/2012 21:52

Hi Easily, welcome Grin

bennybenbear · 11/02/2012 22:00

Hi Easily aka Heather! There are a few mums from Manchester area on here. I'm one of them, currently in Bolton. We're planning a meet up soon too if you're interested?

girlsyearapart · 11/02/2012 22:00

Hi easily wow a Christmas day baby! When was he due?

A much better day here hardly any screaming.

Is anyone interested in playing word games on their phone? Words with friends, scramble & hanging all free.

I'm Shearer4 if anyone wants to start a game it's a good way to pass the time night feeding!

EasilyBored · 11/02/2012 22:22

Little beast was due 12th January, decided he didn't want to miss the festivities! I'm in prestwich, although I had him at Bolton (rather than north Manchester). Would def be interested in a meet up - am the first of all my friends to have a baby so feeling a bit lost without any mum friends iykwim!

Didn't need the haddock for DH in the end. Caught him with his tired/grumpy face on a few times but managed to ignore it.

We went out for an early dinner this evening for a belated 2nd birthday celebration for DS (I was still in hospital on his bday) and DD slept through the whole thing. DS had so much fun, his talking has come on so much and he's hilarious. He was also dancing around to the music in his high chair and got lots of attntion and laughs from the other diners .

After the worst night ever last night we decided to move DD into her cot as I think she was waking up when her arms hit the sides of the moses. Will be interesting what she makes of it. I like that I can see her at head height from my pillow :)

Welcome Easily!

Oh and DD has also grown out of her 0-3 months clothes but gave me a shock when I put her in the 3-6 month ones as her feet are alreayd right at the ends and some of the poppers look like they are already feeling the strain. Not had her weighed for ages but she is certainly very "round"! No way they are going to last until she's 6 months, she's only 9 weeks now!

Hi all, goodness mine is still in newborn (although now grown out of tiny baby), 0-3 months is still too big and she's 8 weeks on Monday!

Left her w husband today and went to library for 4 hours to write a job application. Came home, finished feeding her, bathed her in her new tummy tub which she seemed to enjoy and then out her down in her cot in our room. With only two trips upstairs to settle her she then slept from 7:30-11 uninterrupted and we had a lovely evening drinking wine and chatting about non baby related things. Was fab! Felt like proper couple again. Felt like US again for first time since she was born. Lovely. She's feeing now so I hope she goes back to sleep ok as she usually grizzles between 6 and 11 but then sleeps well until 3, has a feed and sleeps well again until 7. So I really hopehergoodsleep just now won't affect her night sleep!

Hope you are all having enjoyable weekends and not too tired!

OiMissus · 12/02/2012 00:25

Welcome easily and well done! Your LO has almost doubled her birth weight! I'm another Northerner, so I'll look forward to meeting you.
Mine is now 9 wks, born at 9lbs, and on Tues he was 13lb 11oz, so another chunky monkey. He has outgrown mostnof his 0-3mth sleep suits, but his "normal" clothes fit ok. I bought a 3-6mth snowsuit yesterday from Tesco and that fits him snugly. And he's in size 3 nappies.Smile
Our curry was nice this evening. Alistair behaved himself with the babysitters - he woke 5mins after we left, (7pm.) started to fret, they shoved a bottle of expressed b milk into him and he was charming and giggly all night til 9:45 when he became grizzly again and wouldn't settle, in went bottle no 2, = perfect charmer once more. Grin = proud mummy. The babysitter ( my bestfriend and her hubby) took loads of photos and sent them to her friends and family. Grin proud mummy again. They enjoyed the practice, she's getting her first grandchild for her 42nd birthday!
Anyway, i enjoyed the night, and I only checked my phone once. I did miss him, and still do, I did all the driving and then sorting/tidying when we got home and DH did the soothing. I'm now in bed with DH at one side snoring, and LO in the crib at the other side snoring, and I still haven't had a cuddle. Sad goodnight ladies, sleep well.

Kri5ty · 12/02/2012 01:21

Ok I need more than a haddock I'm majorly pissed off!

Had 1 text of oh all day and night, he just got in now, with his friend. Who is staying apparently.

LittleMissFlustered · 12/02/2012 02:21

Glad you had a good night Oi I'm sure you'll get a cudle soon:)

Mmmmcheese · 12/02/2012 03:15

Morning all. Cot seems to be going ok so far. Put her down at 11, she woke at 11.45 but I think it wasa due to arm flailing again so held her hand through the bars and she went back to sleep until 2.45 so I got 3 and a half hours sleep alreafdy which is much better than last night. Hoping she goes down again ok after this feed.

Kristy that would really annoy me! Why are men so insensitive and selfish sOometimes? TheY just don't think.

Just checking in- everyone seen news about Whitney houston ?!

SoTiredoftheWheelsontheBus · 12/02/2012 04:14

amchecking in on the night shift. DS is wide awake - he woke for his second feed, fed for 20 min then was sick. got him changed andback into a non-vomity sleeping bag, then did a poo so had to be changed again. I'm on antibiotics and think they are affecting him a bit.

have just seen the news about whitney houston, really sad, her voice was amazing. I wanna dance with somebody was such a great song (and soundtrack to school discos (showing my age emoticon :))

aethelfleda · 12/02/2012 04:39

Urg. Timings right out tonight. Plus DS objecting to swaddling. May have to move to grobags soon. Trying not to think about the bed/cot reshuffle we'll need when he outgrows the basket.

aethelfleda · 12/02/2012 04:43

Hi easily, welcome on board.

Whitney?

Figgygal · 12/02/2012 04:49

Hello ladies

Am back from Scotland with Internet access had a fab time with my family and showing off LO to friends and anyone else who showed a remote bit of interest. Unfortunately since been back he's been very clingy, refuses to sleep in day unless on 1 of us and on Thursday cried for pretty much 12 hours until he passed out was the worst day by far we've had with him.

The BFing along with ff has pretty much died as he's refusing to latch most of the time and expressing is hard as he refuses to be put down for more than a few mins at a time. Am going to see HV on Tuesday about it but since mixed feeding from day 5 and never even being able to express 1oz I've got him to 7 weeks and so not going to beat self up about it anymore. He's eating non stop he's up to 7oz 6 times a day he rarely leaves any of the bottle Blush I think it's too much his tummy gets huge and he's getting a double chin. The HV doesnt recommend hungry baby milk but those volumes can't be good for him sometimes he's screaming again after 2 hours and nothing but a bottle will stop him. Despite all that he's now smiling massive Grin and so I'll let him off

I did a clothes audit yesterday have 50 bodysuits somehow in 0-3 and about 20 sleepsuits hardly any 3-6 months stuff so need him to not grow too quickly Grin he's also in size 3 nappies now.

Am stood here rocking him he has had a couple of nights where had slept through to half 6 but last night he fell asleep at 7 and was so tired he didn't really wake again despite all efforts even had his last feed with 1 eye open which of course means he won't go back down now as he's not tired.

Woke up earlier with dh shouting at me apparently I was grabbing his arm convinced it was the baby in bed with us and I was trying to pick him up

Will spend the rest of the time catching up on the thread hope you and all LOs are well.

Morning

tuna to Kirsty for DP and his friend!

www.home-start.org.uk/homepage

You can just call homestart and they will assess your needs and take it from there. My sister has ME and she had a homestart voluneer with her first and now with the twins. But they dont do childcare or taxi runs!

Hope everyone has a good day

AnAirOfGreatExpectations · 12/02/2012 07:04

Also Hope is long but thin and is almost out grown the 0-3 suits but then i think i have shrunk them in the dryer! she was born at 8lb 9 oz and is 11 weeks and is 10lb 9oz. I still worry about her weight tho.

Off to name change back Blush

EasilyBored · 12/02/2012 07:45

Cass is starting to reach the top end of the 0-3 clothes, but he's more fat than long so we'll get another few weeks out of them I think. He slept ok last night - woke up at 10, 2 and then 6.30 for food, but I think we're about to grow out of the Moses basket. Will need to have a think about what to do as his cot won't fit in our room.

Good to see a few better nights all round!

Does anyone else have a puker? Cass is such a sicky baby, he's obviously still getting enough milk, but its annoying, fed up of being covered in sick!

hawthers · 12/02/2012 07:51

Long night here. Managed 4 hrs sleep so far but ds2 back in the basket and Dh in with ds1 so going to try to squeeze a bit more sleep in.

mopsy we are only just into newborn as well.

Got another weigh in tonight on our home scales to see how f is getting on. Gp at 6 week check was concerned about the dropping centiles but wanted me to stop weighing unttil we see the consultant in a week's time. My bf adviser suggested taking domperidon to boost supply so I went to gr a prescription for it and saw a diff Gp who then called me back on Friday afternoon to arrange for me to go in tomorrow to check on how we are getting on and to weigh f again. Two completely diff approaches. Just have to.hope to bob that the weight.is coming on finally. Come on bob!

Tunas all around where needed. A small mackeral required check hawthers which may ne upgraded depending on the level of whining about sleep coming from Dh.

Morning all! After her 11pm feed which she guzzled down, minimopsy slept until 3:30, guzzled another feed then slept til 7:30 and now guzzling again. Don't think she's ready to drop the night feed yet, she always seems really hungry for it. And I've given her six feeds during the day instead of five all week but she just takes less at each feed and overall ends iup with same amount so still wakes up at 3am so kind of pointless squeezing the extra one in.

Oi glad you'd a good night out, nice one on well behaved Alistair.

Figgy glad you enjoyed Scotland. Sorry Danny is so unsettled now, hope he's better today.

Hi Easily welcome to the thread!

Minimopsy still in newborn nappies as well as clothes. But she's gaining nicely nonetheless. Amazing the difference in size between babies of the same age, isn't it?!

mopsytop · 12/02/2012 08:08

Hawthers cross posted, hope the weight gain is satisfactory tomorrow.
