Ah yes reastie I can relate to A being an angel in company then people don't believe you when you say she isn't always like that - happens loads with A too! Sorry to hear you still aren't feeling right, can I suggest basically ringing and ringing the hv (wanted to say harass the hv) until you speak to her, in my experience they are very busy which means you can get left, if you keep ringing hopefully you can speak to her tomo. You deserve some bloody help so they'd better not fob you off - good luck.

granny yikes to 4 changes of clothes Shock! HAve got a load of nappies so it should last a while. Poor N being snotty too, its horrible isn't it hearing them all snuffly, hope it goes soon.

emski I've had a vicks plug in before but decided its not doing enough despite the lovely smell! Is the air purifier good then? Am impressed with the vapourizer so far Well done getting through your first week of work!

wiggles typical re: illness just before you go back to work Hmm Hope you all recover v soon! Poor A with her tooth and throwing up, the babies are in the wars at the moment it seems. I did Grin at MrW's lack of celeb knowledge, I'm always amazed when dp can identify a Lady gagaor Katy Perry song, he's have no idea who Selena gomez is Grin Good luck tomo (and everyone else!)

Am sat in bed, time for sleep soon, think I have done as much as I can for tomo except for the fact that I have lost my bloody house keys - WHERE ARE THEY?! - I'll wait for dp to get home as he is good at finding things and I am not Grin

tadjennyp · 06/11/2011 22:07

Sorry, hubbard, replied to you in my head as usual, but I am sorry you are having a rotten time of it at the moment. Who does deal with stuff like that? Don't beat yourself up about that as well.

Reastie, phone the HV again and take your dh's advice. You need to put yourself first for a while and take charge of how you are feeling. You deserve it.

Good luck again to everyone going back to work tomorrow. Off to see Puss In Boots later!

Morning ladies,

Just popping on mostly to say GOOD LUCK to all the return to work ladies today! You'll be fine, babies will be fine, it will all be fine!

Also very sorry for the multitude of snotty babies. C is still a bit snotty but it's not waking her up as much now. She has a cough tho which does wake her sometimes. She coughed and gave a wail at about 2.30 am but I only very briefly woke and didn't really register if she cried any more, so I'm assuming she didn't!

reastie sorry you're still feeling cr@p, make sure you really persist with getting some help this week (whether via HV or GP or whatever), you know you need it. Good on you for talking to DH about it tho, that's much better than keeping it all in.

Hubbard so sorry for horrible week, you poor thing.

NeedTo sorry also for your problems with the OH. I hope you find a way through it and he gets the help he needs to start to fix things.

SO once again, good luck return to work ladies, have a good day!!

Dx

ledkr · 07/11/2011 10:27

Hi all, internet was down yesterday so couldnt say good luck.

hubbard were you expecting so long?will she do half of it?Maybe she will make good use of her time in there.

reastie Lovely pics, you are very pretty you know stop being so hard on yourself.
If it helps i had a mini meltdown this am. Dilly is stil waking once and then early too (could cope with one or the other) dh has been on earlys and she has also been moany and not eating all day.She also wont sleep for any length of time which makes her more moany and less likely to eat. Vicious circle or what.I am too tired to excercise or do anything really,im dreading going back to work cos my boss has made no effort to help me or talk about it and im dreading the op next week too.

I was tired, and trying to spoon breakfast into Dillys mouth as she rubbed it in her eyes and hair, and i just lost it Shock burst out crying and told dh id had enough, poor Ella was upset and ds3 rushed upstairs to get me a ciggie (didnt have it tho)

Dh seems to still have a life, goes to work, footy matches and is going to o2 Friday to watch the fucking wrestling that his selfish sister got him for his birthday-(expensive trip to London, food etc.plus leaves me on my own AGAIN.

AIBU to have now arranged a night away myself on Saturday.

So anyway feeling suitably guilty now and she has actually managed a good sleep,so maybe better day today Hmm

Sorry to moan but it does feel better. No need to respond tho im fine x

debka · 07/11/2011 10:27

borg your late night post made me Grin a lot! Hope you got some sleep!

GOOD LUCK today all return to work ladies, hope you're not totally knackered by hometime.

reastie gorgeous photo, glad it all went well. AND FGS talk to the HV, go back to the GP, take those damn pills but get yourself sorted woman!! :) ps you looked fabby in that frock :)

hubbard that's grim, sending a hug to you and the boys. Why has your sister gone to prison? (if you don't mind me asking) (or have I missed all that discussion? Blush)

wiggs I had to google Selena Gomez Blush, pretty lass, still none the wiser though!

Just tidied and cleaned the house, shame the damn children and husband have the audacity to live here too, bet they make it messy again by tonight, damn them! Grin

debka · 07/11/2011 10:31

X post ledkr

re dilly and non sleeping, repeat, this too shall pass, this too shall pass

re DH you've done the right thing and sorted a night out for yourself. Maybe also get DS3 to babysit and the 2 of you go out one night, maybe even stay at a hotel???

Deliaskis · 07/11/2011 10:47

Ledkr sorry you're having a cr@ppy time too. That was one of the things I really struggled with for so long, DH seeming to mainly carry on doing things, and me not being able to. And grrrr for SIL for arranging that kind of thing for this year's birthday in particular. I know it shouldn't be U to have a special birthday treat, and logically it isn't, but I know I was a bit grrrr as well when MIL got DH and driving experience day for his b'day this year, and all I thought was, well that's another day on my own, another day where he gets to do Other Things, and I get to spend on my own trying to figure out how to please a 4 month old (and DH was [schock] that I didn't want to come and watch...errr...yes that will be lots of fun hanging around a car shed thing on a rainy day with a whingey Claudia, watching you have fun, that will really help, yeeeees..... YANBU to organise a night away for yourself.

I have to say, and I know it isn't for everybody, and won't cure the world's ills, and won't solve everybody's problems, but this kind of stuff did get a lot easier when I came back to work, because the resentment just kind of disappeared. If DH has to do something blokey on the weekend now, I'm disappointed that we won't be doing family stuff, but I don't resent it like I used to. And I usually end up doing something like going out for lunch with C and one of my previous mat leave buddies +baby, who I now never see as I'm working.

Sorry, I know this probably won't help, as you've done this 4 times before, and I'm a naif, but I just wanted to say I understand your resentment!

D

americanexpat · 07/11/2011 12:11

I hope all the back to work ladies are enjoying their interruption-free Brew today.

WeAreBorg · 07/11/2011 12:13

Hi all

Sorry for last nights posts, Nate was being a tinker.

Was trying to say good luck to all of us starting this week. I have officially started work yet am at home on my bum as I have some holiday until Thursday.

hubbard and needto thinking of you both, hope you are okay.

ledkr I don't blame you, especially with the op coming up so soon. I think a night out sounds like a great idea.

reastie fantastically pretty lady (not just saying that, I never say anyone is pretty as I feel it detracts from my incredible stunningness)

We had a lovely time at the christmas fair. DH squealed "ooh bunting!" very excitedly which was Blush and N went round groping other women's boobs and pulling on any lady with blonde hair. He seems to have a thing for blondes Hmm, it got him much attention so I think he is a lothario in the making.

No clue who serena gomez is. Just found out who one direction are thanks to article in the times; yes that's how cool I am, catch up on celebrity goss via the Times. I don't watch any soaps or reality TV, only recently worked out what TOWIE stood for. I am boring and I don't care, la la la.

reastie · 07/11/2011 12:53

borg I just had to google towie Blush . I've caught a few bits of it but I just don't get it - it looks like it's trying to be a docu but I found it looked really staged like it didn't quite work Hmm . I'm sure I'm missing something though Confused . Also, love the idea of your dh getting excited by bunting Grin

You are all too kind re: christening photo, but you know that I'll never believe you anyway when you say how nice I look don't you Sad . I do, however, completely agree with american - DH is very shifty Wink he's just awkward with these things and never knows what to do, would you believe he kept standing about a metre away from me and I kept having to walk over to him

ledkr I'm really sorry you had a breakdown too, but also it does help me a bit that a person who has been there before several times still can find things hard going. YANBU about booking time away btw - you've just got mothers guilt, as it seems we are now destined for a lifetime of guilt, but go and enjoy yourself.

needto and hubbard how are you?

Hope all those at work are getting along OK.

Oh, in exciting news I think Alice understands the word 'clap' as when I say it to her she claps her hands Grin if only she understood what 'no' meant

ILovePonyo · 07/11/2011 18:38

Hi all, just had a read and marking my pace for later, work was a success (well it wasn't crap Grin) and A is now asleep after a fun filled day at nursery (I think!) so who knows what the night will bring... Going to wake her up for bathtime back in a bit.

ledkr · 07/11/2011 18:48

reastie re clapping.D has been clapping a while but yesterday she actually got my hands and clapped them together Smile i was all chuffed and she does it everytime i say "hoorah" so cute.

ponyo oh dear asleep now sounds a tad concerning,dh is seeing to dills as i have to sleep, have a family info day today re ds2 kidney transplant/dialysis,sgould be very interesting and im looking forward to a break tbh Grin

I caught up with towie whilst i was cooking dinner. I hate Mark Wright hes such a knobber,but i so wish Lauren would keep her dignity. {takes things too seriously emoticon}

40Weeks · 07/11/2011 19:52

So girls how was the first day back at work?!? Sorry I haven't been on in ages, taking ages to shift this chest/sinus infection and have nothing interesting to report, plus have just been busy. Anyway, I know you're all relieved I am back Wink so that's the main thing.

Sorry there are so man of you having a rough time, Hubbard needto reastie ledkr am thinking of you all and here for hand holding alongside everyone else.

Nothing to report here, Mikey is almost crawling but shuffling alon wits successfully. Oooh ooh deb I missed a week at SW when I went to see my sis but last week I went back and had lost 7.5lbs! Wooo was so chuffed. Can't imagine I will lose anything this week as have a gourmet night out tomorrow at a local fancy pants restaurant.

I have such a splitting headache I can't really seem to concentrate so am going to go and lie down on sofa. Roast chicken for dinner yum yum - what you all having?

wigglesrock · 07/11/2011 20:19

Hello, had great time at work, ps my physically active job isn't half as difficult when you're not actually pregnant Grin. Anna and Olivia (she's not back in nursery until tomorrow) had a great time at pils and there was no major meltdowns on the mad dash to get Sofia off the bus. I'm not back in until Friday, but then doing a split shift on Friday, working Saturday and working 7.30am Shock - 12.30 on Sunday.

WeAreBorg had lots of giggles at last nights post. I think you and debka were actually communicating in secret spy language. Mr W would get excited about bunting Blush, he despairs of my complete lack of excitement re anything crafty/DIYy. My parents are getting a brand new, dream kitchen in next week, and the whole process including the design had completely bored the pants off me, see I'm even boring myself talking about it Grin

40Weeks welcome back Grin, hope start feeling better x

ledkr hope info day goes well, Grin at it being a bit of a break for you.

Am feeling like a bad wife, Mr W didn't get the promotion he wanted, he's dead on about it, but I feel shite because I didn't want him to get it, due to the fact that his shifts actually work really well for us re minding the girls and if he had of got it, he would have been off weekends but I work them and it means we would have had to arrange childcare for every week, if that makes sense.

ILovePonyo · 07/11/2011 20:43

Phew finally managed to get dd off to sleep which involved quite a lot of crying and a poo as soon as we put her in her cot Hmm
Can I just moan about the fact that she was awake from 1.30am til about 3am when dp got her to sleep on him in our bed - she was all snotty again and just couldn't breathe properly :( Stupid vapourizer made the ceiling wet so am trying it tonight on low setting with her door open. If it does it again I'm taking it back Angry

I'm happy to report that work went well, my new team are all lovely and I had lots of cups of tea in peace! A seemed fine at nursery but her routine for food and bottles went right out of the window, and naps too actually so hope she sleeps well am not hopeful

ledkr sorry to hear about your crappy time, I find feeding so stressful too esp when A is crying and rubbing it in her eyes like D did. Good for you booking Sat night off, you deserve it lets be honest, deffo don't feel guilty. Hope it all goes well at info day, btw dp has the date for his kidney op, its the 16th Nov.

borg Grin at your post and N 'helping', and at your dh exclaiming 'ooh bunting!' oh dp found my keys btw Grin Enjoy your few days of annual leave...

wiggles well done on getting through the day, poor Mr W not getting promotion but doesn't make you a bad wife that you didn't want him to get it, anything for an easier life in my opinion!

40 hello! And hope you feel better soon, enjoy the roast chicken we are having chicken stir fry yum.

reastie you do look beautiful in the christening photo, you'll have to believe it at least a little bit if we're all saying it! Yay for A clapping clever girl, erm A can stick her tongue out at me when I do it sometimes

Hi everyone else, an early night for me I am dreading a repeat of last night, this morning I was fine getting up b'cos of adrenaline for first day back at work, don't think it'll be the same tomo Hmm I looked well rough this morning though with big bags under my eyes despite make up which I think just accentuated them Grin

reastie · 07/11/2011 21:13

wiggles crikey moses - did I understand you right - did you say you are working 17 hours in a row Shock ? BTW I would think exactly the same as you re: Mr Ws' promotion if I were in your situ, so try not to feel bad, just call it a blessing in disguise and I would be very overexcited when it comes to kitchen design Wink

ponyo and wiggles glad work was OK. choc how did it go for you? Was there anyone else back today I forgot? Blush

40 sorry you're still feeling a bit rubbish but WELL DONE on the weight loss Envy

to ledkr and ponyo re: the moany tired babies who won't settle - Alice does this when she's tired and I find now the ONLY way to get her to sleep is to do cc - sometimes if she's really tired she will only cry for a minute or so before she goes down.

Deliaskis · 07/11/2011 21:15

wiggles & ponyo so glad to hear work went well. Ponyo I found that C's routine for sleep especially went out the window when I was no longer able to be a complete control freak manage it myself, but it has all kind of worked out OK. The first time I picked her up from nursery I read the report thing and was like Shock OMG she hasn't slept x amount and she only had x amount of milk and I have no idea how much of the [random food she has never tried before] she ate, but after the first week it just kind of didn't matter. My one 'rule' was no sleep after 4.30pm, but apart from that, anything goes really! When I was on mat leave it was much more predictable, but I think that was because we (me and C) had our 'system' and it worked for us both.

It's also different when she's with my MIL and with my Mum, and they both do things differently, and I think for the first week I was trying to make it 'fit', but actually it doesn't always, and it's fine.

She still sleeps at night and at the weekend we do fine too.

D

wigglesrock · 07/11/2011 21:20

reastie No Grin 7.30am - 12.30pm, although my boss has been making noises re extending the extra hours I had agreed to do in November Shock. Lend me some of your kitchen excitement, my mum asked my opinion on paint yesterday, I felt the will to live draining from me Grin Although to be fair, it will probably be absolutely gorgeous when done. She is having connipations about having no cooker/oven for 2 weeks, afraid Mr W helpfully reminded her that I wouldn't even notice if our oven broke Grin, its as well he's so good in bed Wink

Emski76 · 07/11/2011 21:32

Hi all
Glad the first days back went well

Ponyo, I was the same with Ben worrying about routines etc, but with Noah I'm completely chilled out cos its so hard to keep babies routines at nursery. Noah slept for an hour and a half til midday and for 15 minutes til 3.30 at nursery today, I don't let him sleep past 3.30. His meals are different times than at home but it honestly doesn't seem to make much difference to him. I'm sure as A settles in you will feel more relaxed about it all. Glad work went well tho, what do you do?

Wiggles, well done for successful day! Don't blame you re dh job, I'd be the sae with my dh, he wanted to go for a job with more travelling but I convinced him not to take it cos he's away alot already.

Ledkr, sorry your feeling a bit poo at the mo. Imsure we all flip out every now and then, I know I do! Tiredness doesn't help!

Borg, glad you and dh enjoyed the Xmas fayre. I'm hoping to go to one on the weekend with my sis, and friends of ours who own a garden centre are having a big Xmas fayre in December.....I love it! Loved Nates typing by the way!

40 weeks, well done on your weight loss, good to hear from you and hope your completely better soon.

Reastie, you are gorgeous AND you have a beautiful smile. Dd you hear from the hv today. Please take it from me that telling your hv will be such a huge relief. I wish we could be there and hold your hand while you talk to her. It's hard to admit just how crap your feeling and look into yourself but honestly it will help. I don't think I'd have got thru my PND without my hv.

Ponyo, can't believe the vaporiser did that to your ceiling, how rubbish?! Have you tried albas oil. I tend to put a few drops in Noah's cot if he's got a bad cold and it does seem to work.
Was told at nursery tonight that they have a bout of hand foot and mouth at nursery and that three of the children in the baby unit have it! Am crossing my fingers and toes that Noah doesn't get it. Bloody germs at bloody nursery. Also in preschool there is a bout of headlice! Didn't think I'd have to worry about that until Ben started school, gonna have Bens hair cut on the weekend to lower the risk of 'contamination'.

Wow, I've rambled on. Best go to bed, am exhausted now. Dh is away all week so am going to enjoy having the bed to myself!

ILovePonyo · 07/11/2011 21:32

delia that is exactly what I thought when I saw A's nursery sheet today - 'she slept at those times for that long?!' etc etc, so its good to hear that things are still working out for you otherwise. Oh you have been my reassuring work buddy recently delia Grin, thank you!

reastie I had to do a sort of cc when I needed to have a shower in the mornings and A would ust cry in her cot, in the end I had to leave her to it and she would eventually go to sleep, now I worry I'm undoing all my work by picking her up and having her in with us when she wakes at night but she really won't sleep otherwise Confused

where is choco, hope she got on ok too.

Grin at wiggles revealing MrW's talents Grin

ILovePonyo · 07/11/2011 21:40

x post ems thats good that you can change to your own routine at home and it all works out still. Will try not to worry! I'm a tenancy support worker but changed teams (as my old post was decommisioned) so its nice that my new team are all welcoming. Do you put the olbas oil on N's sheets or on a muslin or something else? I know stupid vapourizer, but A;s room is small so miht be that too. Yuck to foot and mouth AND head lice to worry about - hope it all passes you by, sounds horrid!

Am actually going to bed now, night all xx

reastie · 07/11/2011 21:41

d look at you feeling all relaxed with such a routine-less routine - bet you thought a few months ago you couldn't be so chilled with such things [in awe]

wiggles ahhhhhhhh, I knew I must have got that wrong somehow. Re kitchen design - look all knowledgable by checking the design for the magic triangle - I remember reading the cooker, fridge and sink should ideally be in a triangle not too far away for ease of prep/cooking
