x post with about everyone!

ledkr don't hate me too Grin btw I make my own xmas cake but use packet stuffing, and bisto on the day. I have the smallest kitchen in the world, only 2 rings on my hob and an oven which doubles as a microwave. My mum over the way however has a full size oven, hob, AND an AGA. I am the one who produces a meal for 6 every day!

jane I have everything crossed and praying hard that you will be pg again by xmas and you and df will have a quiet warm loving and cosy time together :)

wigglesrock · 22/09/2011 20:58

jane I think every "first" without Zoe will be especially heartbreaking, so I think giving Christmas the by ball is totally reasonable, although I for one will be raising a Christmas glass for our beautiful girl and thinking of her and her "newly married" parents Grin

ledkr meant to say congrats on D tooth and glad it came up in the right place, another little hurdle leaped.

debka Anna has had a tooth ready to pop up all week, its glistening under the gum but no actual tooth up yet!

ledkr · 22/09/2011 21:31

Ah Jane its going to be so hard isnt it? I read somewhere that you have to have a whole year of anniversarys before it gets any easier.Thats another reason i hate xmas, ive always worked with disadvantaged, ill or lonely and its a shit time for many.
Can i make a suggestion. The 2nd yr i was divorced i was dreading it again so i arranged to help out at the local shelter for boxing day and it really helped me,i didnt have ny big life changing experience i just had a laugh with the staff and clients it was really funny and we all went for drinks after our shift, its just an idea that helped me a bit,or you could just ignore it and just enjoy the time off work.Nightmare for you tho.
Or how about doing a box for a child abroad and doing it for a Zoe age girl and out all the things in you'd have got for her?

Its going to be easier and happier in the future tho im certain.

reastie · 22/09/2011 21:44

jane yes this christmas will be very difficult for you I imagine you just want to curl away and hide.

Still no teeth here yet either.

We are off to devon/cornwall for the week. Sort of looking forward but so much to pack/organise Confused . Something WILL be forgotten I know it. And then there's fitting everything in the car too

deb Shock to imy. Oh, and may I point you and ems to my christmas thread

debka · 23/09/2011 08:49

My poor little sausage- she woke up early asking for a drink then sat on my lap looking pathetic. Had to put her down to change her sheets again (she'd been sick again in the night), then she wanted to go back to bed. Poor little thing, she's never been so poorly. I've had to purloin my mum's washing line as well to fit the 2 loads of sheets that I've washed on!

Hope you all had good nights :)

OP posts:
ILovePonyo · 23/09/2011 09:36

Morning all, ooh lots to catch up on.

deb poor Imy! Hope she gets better v soon.

jane how is df's gran today, any news? Hope you're ok, agree with everyone re: xmas, think maybe having a day with just you and df and no festivities is a good idea.

ledkr can I just say I like hearing about your days before dh, quite inspirational I think. Loving the image of you and baby Ella eating biccies in the car (although I know it was prob much more stressful/less fun at the time :))

40 I went to Marrakesh with dp a few years ago, but we went in August Hmm and was way too hot for me, I was going pink after 10 mins in the sun whilst dp went a lovely dark brown colour Envy Take some long sleeves and tshirts, think in some parts bare arms and legs are frowned upon, and if you go in the souks don't get lost like we did Grin Are you going to marrakesh or another bit?

Borg hope you dont have too much of a sore head today Grin

reastie ENJOY YOUR BREAK!! Am off to nosy at your crimbo thread now. by the way I didn't know about the crossing out thing either

We went to baby massage yest, dd just kept pushing my hands away and rolling over Hmm Got singing today, and having my hair cut later woohoo! My fringe is practically down to my chin Grin

wigglesrock · 23/09/2011 09:45

debka poor Imy - hope she starts to feel better x

Ponyo A hairdressing appt Shock for Gods sake anyone would think you had a life Grin

jane hope you and dp managed to get some rest last night and dps granny is comfortable.

reastie in case I don't see you later, have a fab holiday, relax and enjoy Joshua Jackson Fringe Grin

Right off to try and get organised for this weekend, pissing it down here, am not filled with the holiday spirit Grin

ILovePonyo · 23/09/2011 09:54

Grin wiggles I'm getting my hair done but not actually for anything, that means I have half a life surely?!

I have forgotten where you're going this weekend? Good luck for the organising, always fun Hmm

wigglesrock · 23/09/2011 09:57

Ponyo but you're putting your own needs first go to the back of the Mumsnet class Grin We are heading to the arse hole of nowhere to my friends brothers holiday home by the sea. Its lovely but it really is the back of beyond, I get twitchy if I'm more than a mile away from any kind of shop Grin

Deliaskis · 23/09/2011 09:58

Hi ladies,

Can't believe we're all talking about Christmas already. I sing in an a cappella group and of course if we have Christmas performances (we're singing at the Trafford Centre yikes), then of course we have to start learning the Christmas stuff now. I have two Christmas songs to learn for the chorus, one for an octet I am also singing in, and one for my quartet, so my car journey to work consists of dropping C off at nursery, and then singing along to my teaching CDs for 40 minutes until I get to work. So I am feeling somewhat festive as well!

C is still super snotty, I feel really sorry for her, it's been about 3 weeks now, and I just want her to get better. We're going away Monday tho so am hoping a week in the sun might do the job.

So anyway, am off Monday and might not be able to come onto mn before then, so have a good week all, and see you soon.

Dx

wigglesrock · 23/09/2011 10:02

Deliaskis have a fabulous time, hope you and dh get lots of lovely time together while C is doted on by her grandparents. On second thoughts would you like to swap destinations and have a lovely rainswept weekend here and I'll heaad off to the sun Grin

janedoe25 · 23/09/2011 11:24

reastie, wiggles and delia have fab holidays. Hope you dont miss us too much Grin

debka poor wee Imy, hope she feels better soon

DF's Granny is much the same, just about to leave for the hospital. Hope you all have a nice day.

wigglesrock · 23/09/2011 12:41

Getting ready to start getting ready to go Grin

Have a lovely weekend everyone.

jane hope df granny is comfortable and not in any pain.

reastie · 23/09/2011 12:46

jane hope the visit is OK, well obv it won't be but not too traumatic, and that the hospital are doing everything they can.

d and wiggles have a nice break too, funny we have all booked the same time (although think wiggles' was delayed)

deb poor poor imy, she sounds really poorly. Is she any better today? If I were you I would have run out of bed sheets a long time ago Shock Hmm

ponyo alice doesn't really like massage so much now, think it's more for when they are little (but could be wrong). The massage on her tummy to help with wind etc and an upper leg massage I do she just gets the giggles Wink

Just got back from baby sign. This is prob completely pfb and ott of me but I feel so Angry as the little baby boy we were sitting next to had the horriblest cough and snot all down his nose and was sick 3 times during the class Shock . Dappy mother (or granny, I wasn't sure but she defo was alot older than ledkr Wink ) didn't seem to care when he coughed over alice Shock . As you may know I'm a germ phobe anyway so tbh was desperate to get out at the end. I will be super super Angry Angry Angry if alice becomes ill when we are on our holiday.

debka · 23/09/2011 14:16

Thanks for concern everyone, Imy is really really poorly today, she's been sick again, has a temperature and just wants to sleep, which is totally unlike her. I've rung NHS Direct and they gave some good advice but I've got a telephone appt for the GP too.

reastie not PFB at all, that is awful for the boy and for everyone else. I would have said something I think or at least moved away. Some people are just so unthoughtful.

OP posts:
WeAreBorg · 23/09/2011 14:21

jane you're my total hero, I know Christmas will be hard but it will still be Zoes first one so really hope you spoil yourself and your new hubby.

wiggles, delia, reastie hope you all have a lovely time, will miss you all lots.

ledkr I am always completely in awe of you when I read your posts about your ex etc, you and your family now are just fab.

deb poor little Imy, she sounds as though she is being so brave and getting on with it, hopefully it will be a short lived thing.

delia I think once they go to nursery they're ill all the time, reastie likewise I think they tend to have a permanent snotty nose but this boy sounds a bit gross and I think I would have moved and got my dettol wipes out Smile. Sing us a choon Delia.

I accidentally went to a baby sign class this morning, I went into the wrong room and hadn't booked it or anything. Nate screeched at everyone, pulled a handful of a girls hair out Shock, and slithered over and started nibbling a snooty mums toe (perfect pedicure feet). We're both keeping a low profile now. (didn't pay either)

WeAreBorg · 23/09/2011 14:31

x-post with deb hope all goes okay at the GPs, poor Imy.

reastie · 23/09/2011 15:01

borg I might try that some time - just randomly turning up to a baby class without realising Grin .

I wish I would have done something now re: moving away from this ill baby, I wanted to with all my might but CBT man is making me do things I usually find hard, so I took that as something I should make myself do - clearly I should have done sth Confused

Deliaskis · 23/09/2011 15:24

Borg I would (sing a choon) except I sing a harmony part which sounds a bit monotonal without the other parts who sing something more like an actual choon.

reastie Angry about sicky baby for you. It's not nice. I wouldn't have taken C anywhere when she had her tummy bug the other week although to be fair with the cold that she's got I can't just stay off work indefinitely so she's in nursery today, which is probably where she got it to start with. Ho hum. I'm confused re CBT tho - you wanted to move, but did you feel like that was a thing that CBT man would have approved of or not?

PS reastie Ledkr is going to batter you when she reads what you put...

wiggs thanks for the offer to swop but I think I'll stick with Espana ta very much.

deb sorry Imy is still poorly. I've had a really good experience with my GP lately so crossing my fingers that you either get help or reassured. Maybe the sleep is just to give her chance to fight it?

My best buddy at work is finishing today to start maternity leave - she's 35 weeks. Feels weird that she's just starting the roller coaster. Her first baby too, really excited for her but also thinking yikes I'm glad I'm not right back at the beginning again. Will miss her Sad

DH has just rung to say he has to work again tomorrow, so we got a whole one weekend properly to ourselves (in the whole 7 months since C was born). Grrr....

Anyway, we're going away Monday so I shouldn't complain (but I will a bit anyway, I wanted to get my hair cut Angry.

Have a nice weekend all.

Dx

reastie · 23/09/2011 15:35

yeah d CBT man would have approved that I stayed put - I have to try and make myself do things that usually I wouldn't or that I'd avoid - so usually I would have run a mile from this child, now sitting next to him is classed as therapy Confused Shock .

Deliaskis · 23/09/2011 15:54

Yeah thought so reastie so I suppose we're supposed to be saying 'well done' for sitting new snotty child! It's hard tho, in the sense that there's making yourself do things because it's good for you and A, and then there's ignoring your instincts completely....then there's probably the majority of people, desparately searching for the elusive middle ground!

Dx

tadjennyp · 23/09/2011 18:36

Hello, sorry Imy is poorly, hope she gets better really soon.

Have fun everyone who is going away! Wishing you good weather, good babies and lots of relaxation!

Lol at gatecrashing baby classes, borg! Enjoy your hair cut, Ponyo.

I never used to think about Christmas till October half term, but have to get presents off much sooner from here. Will also be raising a glass to Zoe and thinking of you, Jane.

Just an hour till I pick A up, so I'd better get something done in the house. Haven't got into a routine yet with the short hours.

Wishing you all a lovely Friday night. I'm off to see Chicago!

reastie · 23/09/2011 18:56

seeing chicago tad ? Have a great time Grin

d yes tis hard to find that elusive middle ground

Well, just seen a school friend of mine write on her fb status her dd (who is a few days younger than alice) is now clapping her hands and waving. Now I'm not a competitive parent but this girl seems to write about how advanced her dd is all the time - makes me feel quite inadequate Confused . she's either lying or her child is a genius. now would not be the time to tell me your los have been waving and clapping for ages Angry Wink

jane how was the hosp trip?

debka · 23/09/2011 19:56

reastie S can't even roll over yet, all that girl does is eat and sleep, no chance of handclapping etc for a good year yet! Wink

Thanks everyone for thoughts about Imy- she woke up at 5 and perked up a bit in the evening, and seems a bit better. In bed now, having eaten only an ice pop all day Shock she's not really my child I think

BTW reastie I had to raid my mum's airing cupboard for the sheets!

tad have fun :)

delia totally know what you mean re being glad the 'worst' is over and done with.

Hope everyone else is well :)

Evening girls

Jane how is df nan doing? So sorry to hear that, really hope you make the wedding. If there is nothing you can do for nan then I do hope you can go, a wedding is such a happy and precious occasion it would be such a shame to miss it. Thinking of you, esp not having the Xmas you imagined

reastie wiggles and Delia have a brill holidays all of you, I hope you get a chance to relax. Part of the reason me and dh decided to do a trip with our pals next year is because now we are at the mercy of school holiday prices and because holidaying with the little people isn't always relaxing so a few days away separately would be great and then a cheap caravan holiday with the kids which they LOVE would be the way forward.

Yes ponyo it's Marrakech we are off to. Literally. Cannot. Wait. It's Feb tho so not that warm so hopefully will be dressed ok. I got my hair done today too! The grey was desperate. I don't have much but it's right at the front, slapping everyone I meet in the face

How was Chicago tadj? one of the few musicals I liked. Really liked.

How is imy now debka ?? poor little mite, it's so sad when they are poorly.

Loving your work Borg with accidental baby sign

ledkr that Christmas in the caribbean sounds fab, hope this year is an enjoyable one. I too love Xmas but am not a very homemade sort of person unless it's cake related!

Owens bday party tomorrow, 18 kids - thankfully weather is good as we have hired a bouncy castle for the garden. Cakes baked, some icing to do tomorrow, am making a Hungry Caterpillar!
