APRIL 2007 - Our Babies Are Off To School!!!!! :-O and :-( and :-)!!!!

Thought I should probably start a new thread as we face a new era for our beautiful April 2007 (and March / May) babies!!!

I am feeling rather shaky just writing this. I don't think I have quite got my head round the fact that Phoebe is starting school in a few short weeks. She is my last baby, so I am feeling pretty sad about it. Definitely the end of an era for me. No more babies at home - no more swimming fun / beach fun / park fun / fun with friends during the day, unless it is a school holiday, any more. Wow! I don't think I want to think about that too much right now, so I am going to stop!! Phoebe starts on Sept 12th, is p/t (til 12pm) all that week, then she is f/t from Sept 19th. All uniform and shoes bought for all girlies, so here we go .......

On a happier note - I have Bramshot and her girlies coming to visit today Smile We are planning to have fun on the beach, but weather forecast looks like rain Sad, so it might be soft play, which is a shame; but I am sure they girls will have a riot and Bramshot and I can drink coffee and stuff!! WinkGrin

Thanks for the memories ladies, it has been an amazing few years - I've had a bit of a break from MN recently, but I'll pop back every now and again to check in with all my favourite 4 year old's mummies!! Wink xx

Nope she goes on January 3rd. The school always used to do two entries - September for children born Sept-December and then January for everyone else. So my older two went in January - at 4.75 (like Bea will be) and three weeks off 5 for dd2. It seems like the right time of year to me Grin This year the council really wanted (why I do not know) all schools to do one entry but our excellent Head did what he always did and gave us the choice. Full time or part time and whatever term they wanted. She could have started in April if we'd liked but I'm happy with January. Taster session last week went very well and she's staying for lunch this Wednesday. There are several dcs from her nursery already started which is lovely so she will know around 6 children already and dd2 is in Year 6.

oooggs · 04/12/2011 21:32

We didn't have a choice. All in September, sept - feb born were full time, the rest staggered part time over 3 weeks.

Northernlurker · 04/12/2011 21:40

I think we are very lucky. He doesn't set any rule - you can do part time at first or go straight to full time - which is what we're doing.

WaspElly · 05/12/2011 12:49

Hiya all - sorry for being rubbish - was "losing" too much time on Mumsnet - then disn't have internet for so long after we moved down here to Devon (gulp - 3 years ago) that I got outa the habit.
Working 4 days a week now Tamsin's at school - pretty much running the place as far as I can tell, not desperately taxing , but OK.
Right - will now read through entire back-thread(s) to see what/where everyone's at...

lol at "twinkling my fingers" that's lovely
T is either a tiger [hmm or a shepherd. Hope he works out which before Friday!
Dad is OK thank you, treatment starts properly this week. We will see.
WaspElly, lovely to see you

cazboldy · 05/12/2011 21:52

Hi NL our school is very good too - they let them go as much as they want - or as little....

Molly is full time now,she just couldn't get enough, and they all think she is lovely. Smile

but i do miss her x

Hello Waspelly x

Bramshott · 06/12/2011 08:54

SPB - aparently in the first practice they asked her to twinkle her fingers and then forgot to tell her to stop - only to find she was still "twinkling" them 20 minutes later!! I can't wait to see the twinkling in action on Friday (I think I might cry!). N was a "leopard" in her first nursey nativity play!

Generally I am very pleased and amazed by how well O has settled into school. I thought it would be difficult and painful, and that she wasn't ready, but she has surprised us all!

Bramshott · 08/12/2011 11:32

Major wobble this morning - "I don't want to do the play"; "my tinsel is itchy", "I don't want people to look at me"; "I don't want to wear my costume". Dispatched to school in the taxi sobbing quietly with N (who doesn't understand AT ALL and would perform every day if she could) saying "there there, it'll be great, you'll love it" etc. As they left she was trying "N, will you tell Mrs X I don't want to do the play" . . .

I reckon she'll be fine when she gets there - thing is, it's only the dress rehearsal today, we'll have it all again tomorrow when it's the real thing Hmm

StealthPolarBear · 08/12/2011 12:12

Ahh poor little thing, hope she's ok

oooggs · 13/12/2011 19:51

are we all ready for Christmas? or more importantly the schools breaking up???????

off on holiday on friday!!! Grin

Bramshott · 14/12/2011 17:10

Ready???? No, not in the slightest, but slightly less panicked (and now adopting a "what the heck" approach)! Nativity (O) and Christmas Concert (N) now done and dusted so now at least they can get ill with impunity if they need to!

Where are you off to Oooggs?

Sexonlegs · 14/12/2011 21:22

Hello :)

How lovely to see the thread is still going and so many are still posting. I have just been keeping up on FB with everyone's news.

Loving the talk re christmas plays. We had ours last week - "Prickly Hay" and Katie was an "angel". I have to say she was absolutely hilarious; dancing around, pulling her dress down off her shoulders, and pulling her "halo" over her eyes! Very amusing. Katie has also surprised us re settling in to school; she has been full time since September (cruel parents!!).

Looking forward to packing up for Christmas now; we are all knackered. Feeling pretty sad that Mum is not around this year; Christmas Day last year was the last day that Katie and Becky saw Mum :( Cannot believe how quickly this year has gone. We had several months of building work, and I had my ovarian cyst, ovary and tube chopped out in the middle of it; so quite a hectic year!

So, that's a quick catch up.

Hope everyone is well, and I will try and come on this thread more regularly.
xx

Hi to everyone, I know I've been very neglectful but I have thought of you all, honest. Especially SOL. Wow at Florida oooggs. The kids have had lots of excitement, what with travelling up to Ilkley, presents and their grandmother, aunt and uncle.

Danny had 3 lines in a sort of nativity play at school, he learned them all and jumped up to say them at the appropriate moments, so we were very proud.

I'm very relieved to have had another Christmas with my mum, after two lots of surgery, last year and this year, and, thankfully, another clear CT scan on Friday.

StealthPolarBear · 27/12/2011 16:06
