APRIL 2007 - Our Babies Are Off To School!!!!! :-O and :-( and :-)!!!!

Thought I should probably start a new thread as we face a new era for our beautiful April 2007 (and March / May) babies!!!

I am feeling rather shaky just writing this. I don't think I have quite got my head round the fact that Phoebe is starting school in a few short weeks. She is my last baby, so I am feeling pretty sad about it. Definitely the end of an era for me. No more babies at home - no more swimming fun / beach fun / park fun / fun with friends during the day, unless it is a school holiday, any more. Wow! I don't think I want to think about that too much right now, so I am going to stop!! Phoebe starts on Sept 12th, is p/t (til 12pm) all that week, then she is f/t from Sept 19th. All uniform and shoes bought for all girlies, so here we go .......

On a happier note - I have Bramshot and her girlies coming to visit today Smile We are planning to have fun on the beach, but weather forecast looks like rain Sad, so it might be soft play, which is a shame; but I am sure they girls will have a riot and Bramshot and I can drink coffee and stuff!! WinkGrin

Thanks for the memories ladies, it has been an amazing few years - I've had a bit of a break from MN recently, but I'll pop back every now and again to check in with all my favourite 4 year old's mummies!! Wink xx

Marking place before getting in the car - back to report on day of fun later!

oooggs · 25/08/2011 14:52

very Envy of you 2 have coffee & stuff Wink

yes they are off to school - I may still have 1 at home but this is going to be a big change for me - 3 at school instead of 3 at home Shock

They start on 5th Sept just morning for 1 week then full time from 12th. They are in the same class and are both excited. They are very different and Erin is much more ready than Jack!!!! Uniforms & shoes done and Luke isn't going to know what has happened when it is just the 2 of us!!

Bramshott · 26/08/2011 12:48

Well we had very lovely coffee and stuff at softplay, and then an hour or so on the beach before lovely pizza with Mr Dippy. Such a great day! Took a very nice photo of O and P on the beach which I am just putting up on my profile. All the girls, big ones and little ones (and middle-sized ones!) played very nicely together.

CaptainDippy · 01/09/2011 11:56

Yes, was a very lovely day indeed Bramshott - thank you so much for making the effort to come, my girls (and I) have a really super time and it was so good to see the girls playing well together - especially our 2 oldest Smile

Not long to go before schoooooooool ........ gulp ...........

Just checked in and wanted to say how much I agree with your musings - CaptainDippy - as I watch my last baby head of to school too... Will miss those early years although last time I did so much that I had another child! Sienna doesn't start full time until 26th and then I am only sending her 4 days a week until she/we wants/needs the fifth day, so in someways I am still having that 'fun day' for a bit longer! So big gulp from me too!

leakyR · 02/09/2011 12:40

I am soooo silly! Been looking at the old thread and thinking Sad "Why is nobody on here?" Didn't see Dippy's new thread message.
In my defence I've got flu and feel pants. All gravelly voiced but not in a sexy way as it's combined with me coughing up lumpy green stuff.
G also doesn't start until 12th September, 8.55 until 1 for a week, then full days from 19th. Whole house needs organising and cleaning before then and if I feel like this it won't be happening at the weekend.

Bramshott - lovely pic of O and P.

Hope all are well.

Eddas · 04/09/2011 18:16

hi everyone, good luck to all your dc that start school this week Smile It only seems like yesterday that we were all on here madly trying to keep up with all the chatter and waiting for the lo's to arrive.

DS isn't starting til 19th Sept but we have his teacher coming to our house tomorrow for a home visit Hmm i'm sure that'll be nice Wink Grin

I also can't believe dd will be a junior from tomorrow Shock that really is making me feel old Grin

In other eddas news I will be going back to work every day from Oct, upping my hours from 15 to 25 a week, which will be depressing from my point of view as I would like to have had some me time but it's a luxury we can't afford so needs must and as my boss was kind enough to offer me the extra hours (and school hours!) I couldn't really say no.

I have also had an operation on my ear and from googling it it may be a more serious issue than I had hoped or realised Sad I just need to see the consultant and find out. If it is more serious it will probably mean further operations in the future to keep it under control and try to protect some of my hearing. When I first went to the gp I had thought it would be simply a more extensive cleaning of the ear, which I suppose it was, I just hadn't realised that would mean a full GA op Grin

oooggs · 04/09/2011 19:15

well they are in bed!!!! and I am ready foir their 1st day of school tomorrow!!!!! Wow it has flown in some respects Wink managed to put some photos on fb and thanks to those who commented.

Yes I made the silly remark - 'don't they look like twins!!!!!' doh - but I have spent the last 4.5 years trying to help them be different in many ways not just outfits

I have butterflies in my tummy now but also have Luke to keep my feet firmly on the ground and still taking him to groups Grin

oooggs · 05/09/2011 15:13

1st morning over Grin when do I break it to them that they have to go back tomorrow?! Wink

StealthPolarBear · 05/09/2011 21:28

Hi everyone

Just popping on to say good luck everyone, but it looks like I have completely missed the issue that everyone has different start days! did the twins like it?
Eddas, sorry to hear that, sounds very worrying :(

We have just got back from a fantastic weekend in Cornwall, only complaint - not long enough!

oooggs · 06/09/2011 07:00

Katy hope you liked Cornwall and waved as you went past Wink

yes they did like it - mornings this week then full time from Monday

Eddas - hope your ear is better soon x

StealthPolarBear · 06/09/2011 12:58

glad they enjoyed it. I would have waved but have no idea where you are :) We came through bodmin and truro and also went to Newquay (zoo) and St Austell (eden) - you near any of those?

Bramshott · 06/09/2011 15:57

Just back from an exhausting day with O at Peppa Pig World before she starts school tomorrow! It was great actually as (a) I got to convince myself she's still a pre-schooler for 1 more day!, and (b) it was really quiet because the weather was awful!

Now waiting for N to get back to hear all about what it's like being in Year 4! She has a new teacher, having had the previous one for 3 years (small school) so it will be quite a big change I think.

Feeling more or less resigned to O going tomorrow I think - at least she will be home at lunchtime this week and next so we get to ease ourselves in gradually!

CaptainDippy · 08/09/2011 11:57

to all those who have started. Like Leaky, I have P starting Mon (12th), p/t for a week; then f/t from Mon 19th. Sad Sob. DH's parents are having older 2 all day Sat so DH and I can take P out for the day - not sure what we are going to do or where we are going go yet. I know she would love to take a long walk on The Downs, but given the weather we have been having over this week, I am not sure how likely it will be Sad I am sure I can manage to persuade her that we NEED to go for a yummy cream tea somewhere though!! WinkGrin Hee! Hee!

DD1 is settling into Juniors, such a big girlie!! Her NEW school shoes BROKE this morning though!!!!! Shock I am NOT best pleased ......

DD2 is loving Year 2 and is a cutie super star Grin

Man, I am going to be a MESS on Monday morning. DH has taken the morning off so he can hold me hand!! Smile

I really hope the problems are too great with your ear / hearing, Eddas, thoughts and prayers xxx

Well, best crack on, grandparents have P and I NEED to do some housework HmmWink ......

Dippy I found Erin & Jack starting school was fine, part time this full week and full time from Monday - but that could be a different matter when my baby starts Grin

oooggs · 11/09/2011 18:51

full days from tomorrow!!!!!

CaptainDippy · 12/09/2011 09:17

She's gone Sad She looked so gorgeous and grown up in her uniform ......

Bramshott · 12/09/2011 09:46

Stiff upper lip Dippy!

I was unexpectedly poleaxed by O going off in the school taxi this morning. It was always planned that she would go with N on the taxi from today, but the sight of her waving excitedly and calling "bye mummy" was a bit too much for me at 8.25am [wobble]! Still, I collect her at 1.00 so not long to wait to find out how it went.

leakyR · 12/09/2011 11:59

I had a lump in my throat as I walked home this morning. George looked so tiny when i lefy him but really happy to be there. picking him up at 1 so not long before I get the verdict.

oooggs · 12/09/2011 12:22

fantastic - they all look (inc Katie) look great onn your fb pictures Smile

we are on week 2 but today is 1st day full time - they are probably trying their lunch at this minute!!!! they will be exhausted and Erin starts dancing today at 4pm!!!

CaptainDippy · 13/09/2011 13:20

Sounds like it is all going ok for us all and our "babies"!!! Smile xx

Eddas · 13/09/2011 21:46

ds doesn't start til monday (19th) your's will have all graduated by then Grin

It's lovely seeing them all in their uniforms on fb, although I am extremely jealous that I have to wait for weeks til ds starts!!

He's tried his uniform on though, looks V cute and small. I just hope dd and her friends leave him to get on and find his feet, I have visions of him being mothered by 5 or 6 year 3 girls everytime he gets into the playground Grin poor boy!

oooggs · 13/09/2011 21:48

lol eddas, ds1 is also in year 3 but is in the Junior playground and not the infant one so can't torment bother visit dts Grin

oooggs · 15/09/2011 20:49

struggling with the after school tantrums in 'double' - this full time school is exhausting!!

leakyR · 15/09/2011 21:37

George has had a couple of teatime meltdowns this week. He doesn't even start full days until next week. Heaven help us! he is loving it though. Up and dressed before I've even registered that he's awake Smile

Mummies of boys, have your ds discovered their willies yet? George was sitting in just his dressing gown waiting for dh to get home and give him a bath tonight and he must have fiddled with it for 45 minutes. I kept gently telling him to leave it alone, told him "It's not something to do when everyone is sitting here" but the hand kept going there. How would you approach it? I don't want him to be freaked out or think it's something awful but seriously I don't want to see it (partly because I struggle to keep a straight face) and I can just imagine MIL's face if he tries it in front of herShock
