APRIL 2007 - Our Babies Are Off To School!!!!! :-O and :-( and :-)!!!!

Thought I should probably start a new thread as we face a new era for our beautiful April 2007 (and March / May) babies!!!

I am feeling rather shaky just writing this. I don't think I have quite got my head round the fact that Phoebe is starting school in a few short weeks. She is my last baby, so I am feeling pretty sad about it. Definitely the end of an era for me. No more babies at home - no more swimming fun / beach fun / park fun / fun with friends during the day, unless it is a school holiday, any more. Wow! I don't think I want to think about that too much right now, so I am going to stop!! Phoebe starts on Sept 12th, is p/t (til 12pm) all that week, then she is f/t from Sept 19th. All uniform and shoes bought for all girlies, so here we go .......

On a happier note - I have Bramshot and her girlies coming to visit today Smile We are planning to have fun on the beach, but weather forecast looks like rain Sad, so it might be soft play, which is a shame; but I am sure they girls will have a riot and Bramshot and I can drink coffee and stuff!! WinkGrin

Thanks for the memories ladies, it has been an amazing few years - I've had a bit of a break from MN recently, but I'll pop back every now and again to check in with all my favourite 4 year old's mummies!! Wink xx

I don't have any boys (except a big one Wink), Leaky, but "fiddling" is perfectly normal and I don't think G is really old enough to 'get' what is appropriate socially yet. It is just exploring. Sometimes my girls will have a good fiddle when they are watching TV and I just leave it, they are either itchy or 'exploring' and what is wrong with that? They are only children who are growing and developing all the time. I wouldn't broach the subject with P just yet, but my older 2 know that fiddling isn't for public performance and also that they should always wash their hands before food - eeeeewwww!! Wink I wouldn't worry too much, Leaky - all boys fiddle - even big ones!! Wink

P has enjoyed her 1st p/t week, she doesn't seem overly tired or distressed, but she has been wetting the bed every night Sad Poor lamb - definitely a sign of a bit of inward turmoil, I think. She will settle in though - full-time next week - eeeekkkk!!

If it makes you feel any better, Eddas - my other 2 didn't start til 23rd / 24th Sept, so P has been a bit of a novelty!! Smile

We have separate Infant / Juniors - so DD1 is in Year 3 and up the road at Juniors, but DD2 is in Year 2, so still at the same school as P - she said they held hands over the wall at 1st break on Tuesday - awwww!! Smile

Ds is finally at school!! He had a bit of a wobble but I think he'll be fine. He ran up the hill with dd and even waved at me from the gate as if to say 'bye then i'm off' which is what dd does, we normally pull up in the car and wait til she goes into the playground, then drive off. Obviously with ds I'm going in with him but he's spent at least a year dropping her off at the gate so obviously thinks he should be doing it too Grin although he lost me in the playground, which I think led to the wobble and tears Sad but he did go into the classroom ok

I will find out at 12 when I go to get him.

He's on half days for however long the teachers says, which is most helpful Hmm hopefully just a week!

Hope everyone's lo's are getting on well at school, end of an era Smile

oooggs · 19/09/2011 13:08

Eddas how did he get on??

Luce - great to see you x

dh has gone away Sad nearly 3 weeks with no contact. I am used to doing any part of the day or night on my own due to shift work but all of it at once for ages I am not best pleased about Hmm

So have started decorating the kitchen Grin

Eddas · 19/09/2011 14:06

lol at 'so have started decorating the kitchen' Grin as if you don't have enough to get on with!!

Ds was fine, I think he was ok until he lost me in the playground and got upset, but came out smiling Smile I didn't get much detail on the morning but apparently they had no toys Shock I said 'well I better have a word with Mrs xxxx and ask why' Wink and he changed his mind 'only joking mummy' Grin

CaptainDippy · 20/09/2011 11:00

You are nuts oooggss! WinkGrin Hope the time without DH flies for you xx

Glad our little ones seem to be doing ok. P had her 1st full day at school yesterday and seemed fine, if a little grumpy, which is understandable. She won't tell me what she has done all day ...... Her teacher's wife had a 10lb (ouch) baby girl yesterday though, so he is off on Paternity for a couple of week, so she has a nice Irish lady til then.

La La La ......

Eddas · 20/09/2011 13:11

crikey, 10lbs rather her than me Grin

I spoke to ds' teacher earlier and she doesn't see a problem with him going fulltime from Monday I wouldn't have asked but I need to go to work!! Can't put my happy news on fb either as friends with lots of the mums and the poor teacher may get hoards of them saying 'well xx is staying fulltime so why can't my xx' but YAY!!

I've been waiting so long for this day. Life's been very very hard over the last few years and this means I can work more which will help our money situation which in turn helps other things too Smile DS being fulltime was the last piece of the puzzle and as mean as it is I can't help but be happy Smile

Bramshott · 20/09/2011 17:31

Sounds like a relief Eddas! Hope things are on the up from here.

oooggs · 20/09/2011 17:35

good news eddas Smile not having anymore then? Wink

Eddas · 20/09/2011 18:46

thanks Bramshott and oooggs Smile No oooggs, no more for me Grin I'd have to have an even number and I really don't want 4 [wink Grin

Eddas · 20/09/2011 18:47
Wink
Bramshott · 20/09/2011 21:38

Sorry - bit of a post and run earlier! I also meant to say that I've got a new job! 3 days a week, starting mid-November. I'll keep on a couple of my current freelance things, which will make me almost full-time! I'm excited about working for a larger organisation (although still mostly from home) and having colleagues, getting out and about more etc. I always said I wanted a new job when O started school but I didn't think it would happen quite this quickly!!

O seems to have settled fairly seamlessly into school Shock - I think it was me who wasn't ready! First 2 full days have gone fine, even coming home on the taxi with the other 'big' ones - so grown up!

oooggs · 20/09/2011 21:49

bramshot that is fantastic news!!! well done Grin

eddas I totally know what you mean about the even number - hence why we had 4!!!

CaptainDippy · 21/09/2011 10:35

Great news Eddas Grin

wow nearly a week with no posts!!!! all too busy doing reception homework Wink

StealthPolarBear · 27/09/2011 22:15

Hi everyone :) Glad everyone is settling into school and the children are OK as well :o
Bramshott, brilliant news on the job!
Leaky, no T hasn't really discovered playing with it, I ahve that to come :o I think how you sound like you're dealing with it ("Not at the dinner table", "Not in front of your grandma" etc) sounds fine.

T came into the room earlier telling me he;d done a "number 2". I panicked, thinking they had taught him a polite way of saying he'd had an accident at school. Till he showed me the pipe cleaner he'd bent into a 2 shape :o
DD is 2 now, started with a new CM (was at nursery before). So far she seems absolutley brilliant.
Having a bad time at work, and with job hunting. Cant wait to get a new job!

cazboldy · 28/09/2011 20:20

Grin at T's number 2 SPB x

Hello all

It's been ages since I came on here!

Molly has settled fantastically at school. She is doing all day on mon, tues and wednesdays, and coming home at 1.15 on thurs and fris.

I do miss her, but am getting to ride lots Smile

I also have my baby nephew on fridays now my sil has gone back to work, so am loving still having a baby sometimes.

Caitlin also started high school this year, and James has started his gcse years as he has gone into year 10.

I am about to start an OU degree course - my first tutorial is next thursday!

hope all is well, and Eddas - if I lived closer, i would help with your childcare woes - I really feel for you xx

Will try not to leave it so long next time x

Bramshott · 29/09/2011 15:59

Hi Caz - great to see you. Good luck for the OU course!

SPB - sorry to hear about job traumas - sending lots of good vibes for the job hunt. It can be a bit soul-destroying can't it? I was job hunting for a year before finding this one, and just before I interviewed for this I applied for 2 things I was well-qualified for but didn't get an interview for either (one of them was even a job I was offered in 2008 and turned down Hmm). It's a difficult climate out there, but I'm sure the right thing will come up for you in the end.

oooggs · 04/10/2011 13:27

we have had parents evening and school photos already!!! How is everyone else doing?

Eddas · 06/10/2011 17:46

Caz, thank you for saying you'd help, such a lovely thought Smile Good luck with the course.

Who was asking about boys and their dinkles? ...Just looked back....Leaky....Ds is always having a fiddle Hmm or just standing there holding it Hmm I often ask why he's holding it? are you just checking it hasn't fallen off?! I think I will opt for your 'not in public' stance actually, very sensible.

DS is now settled into school, even going into his class by himself, which is lovely. Means he's happy which is good. We've had school photos already too. They were done on ds' 3rd day! Good job the start date wasn't even later!

I started back to work 5 days a week on Monday. Now it's thursday i'm feeling a little bit like I don't wanna go in Grin But I only work school hours so that is ideal really, I shouldn't complain.

oooggs · 09/10/2011 07:09

fab hours eddas - I know loads of parents who would love school hour jobs - few and far between!!

Bramshott · 11/10/2011 10:11

Last night I managed to negotiate N "playing out" for the first time (NB, I must buy her a watch!), and O telling me that Peppa Pig pajamas are now "too babyish" Sad. They are growing up so fast!

cazboldy · 11/10/2011 10:36

Bramshott - how strange... we had the exact same Peppa pig pj chat last night...... apparently Peppa pig is for babies.....

well we are currently negotiating with ds1 about getting a moped! Shock

i really don't want him to, but dh thinks it's fine Hmm

he will be 15 on the 26th, so at least he can't ride it on the road for a year........

Bramshott · 11/10/2011 12:29

"too babyish" was not really a concept O had come across before school, but now we get it a lot! More irritating is the fact that she had only just grown into said Peppa Pig pajamas (despite the label saying 1.5-2!) and they are nice and warm one for the winter Hmm!

Bramshott · 11/10/2011 12:30

A MOPED Caz faints!

Mind you, I can imagine N will end up with one if she wants to get to college - no buses round here and school transport runs out at the end of Y11.
