Hello people!!

i 100% am going to read and catch up and hear all about the babies and toddlers and bigger kids. 100%.

But not right now GrinHmm DH got into uni for sept, so all spare moments are spent chasing documents etc to try organise childcare/loans/fee loan funding. Also embroiled with childtax credits. I spend half the day on the phone.
The other half emailing, although some of that is my fault as things aint so organised around here. We have lost dd2's birth certificate (sob) and we need at least 100 bits of evidence etc.

So long...I'll be back.

moosemama · 19/07/2011 12:04
Grin

Congratulations to your dh on his uni place!

We are headless chickens this week as well, the trustees have sprung a house and garden inspection on us for this Saturday and having been so ill over the past few months the whole place needs a total overhaul. Dh has today off to help, but other than that I'm on my own, with dd 'helping'!

Also need to bake and decorate about a million cupcakes and prep for ds1's IEP review tomorrow.

So, what am I doing on here? Just dropping by while I take a five minute breather and come online to log my food intake - 19lbs down now - only 2 stone 9lbs to go then. Hmm

Right, best shift my backside again. Hope everyone is ok. Will try and pop in again soon.

tinkbig · 19/07/2011 12:43

good luck mm
hi tree

GotArt · 20/07/2011 06:21

Congratulations to your DH tree

I'm popping in quick too... don't want to get too far behind. Grin

Keep well all.

tinkbig · 20/07/2011 19:56

hi gotart Grin

good day here
walked to local petshop for exercise

stripeywoollenhat · 20/07/2011 20:05

flyby here too - have to go out and be sociable -in a pub! - in about ten mins Shock

congrats to dh, tree, brilliant news Smile

20 week scan here today, all well - fingers, toes, kidneys etc all seemingly present and correct. she was not very co-operative, wouldn't stay still at all, but it was lovely to see her without any hideous stress attached to the experience. c told everyone at her nursery yesterday all about her sister, by the time she left all the toddlers were tlking about having little sisters...

best go and check i haven't got any food on me - hope all evening's going well Smile

moose, are we still on for the 1st? it's the morning, isn't it? my niece's third birthday party in afternoon, so hope no clash...

stripeywoollenhat · 20/07/2011 20:06

evenings, i mean

moosemama · 20/07/2011 20:44

Hi Stripey

Gosh, 20 weeks already - other people's pregnancies shoot past! Grin Good to hear all was well for the scan and C is getting all excited about her new sister.

Jury's out on the 1st at the moment. We've had to cancel the Galway camping, partly due to finances, but also because we were worried about there not being a doctors or hospital close by in case things go awry with my health again. Still have the ferry booked to Dublin at the moment, but dh is considering taking a hit on the transfer charge and shifting it back down to Fishguard/Rosslare to shorten the journey.

Actually, the ferry isn't due in until 12.30, so it might be a bit tight on time for you.

Dh is however, considering a day trip up to Dublin on the 11th, as he wants to go and see his beloved Jello Biafra playing live and has been in a real sulk since I told him I'd rather he didn't go. We are currently debating a whole family daytrip and night in the Travelodge vs him and his best mate going up and leaving his mate's partner and daughter back in Wexford with us.

So, its all a bit up in the air at the moment, but we should have our plans sorted by the end of the weekend - so will let you know then if that's ok?

moosemama · 21/07/2011 10:21

Morning folks,

Am feeling stressed and worried this morning. My dog is really poorly. Sad She started behaving oddly on Monday, going to drink then getting frustrated and kicking the water bowl over. We thought it was behavioural, especially because she was eating ok and she started drinking normally on Tuesday. She's been really subdued compared to usual this week, then this morning we came down and her neck and jaw is hugely swollen and she's drooling. Sad

I think she must have picked up and stick and run with it in the park the other night when dh took her for a walk in the dark and the most likely thing is that she has it lodged in her throat. Its just a guess, because noone saw her do it, but the symptoms all add up to that.

She has an emergency appointment at the vets this afternoon, but is really poorly. I think she must have an infection, she's hot and depressed and can only drink if I hold the water bowl up to her when she's lying down. I tried to look in her mouth and she screamed in pain, so I've had to leave it for the vet to sort out.

i think she might need to be admitted at least overnight - if not for an op.

Can't bear this so soon after losing my other girly. Sad

stripeywoollenhat · 21/07/2011 12:45

ah moose, i am sure they'll be able to sort it out for the poor girl. if it is a stick they'll be able to take it out and antibiotics will sort the infection. horrible for her though. let me know about your plans when you have them, i think i'm around on the 11th if we can't manage the 1st and you do come to dublin.

vile day here, and i have to travel to cork with my mother this evening: i'm exhausted, stayed out late like a normal person instead of a pregnant one who needs to sleep endlessly... hope you're all doing better.

moosemama · 21/07/2011 14:24

Thanks Stripey - will let know our plans after the weekend. Sorry you're so exhausted, travelling is horrible when you are pregnant.

Well, the vet couldn't see anything - despite her letting her have a good look down her throat - but, there's a huge abcess under her jaw/on her neck (difficult to see as she has a huge ruff).

They are assuming some sort of throat injury from something she's chewed then swallowed and have given 48 hours of mega antibiotics and anti-inflammatories. If the abcess hasn't gone down significantly by Saturday morning, they are going to have her in in the afternoon and operate, but they want to avoid this if possible as the location of the abcess will make it a very tricky op. Sad The good news is that none of her other glands are up, so the infection does seem localised at the moment, which means we stand a better chance of the antibiotics knocking it on the head.

The odd thing is, the vet said she'd had another dog in with the exact same symptoms, but no obvious sign of injury last week, had given that dog the same treatment and it worked - so fingers crossed.

She's eaten some soaked kibble with her pills and then had a drink with me holding the bowl for her again and is now sleeping. She's very clingy and when I took dd up for her nap she started pacing the kitchen panting and fretting, which isn't like her at all - she's usually very loving but pretty independent.

At least they didn't need to admit her. Sad

tinkbig · 21/07/2011 20:44

Hello Smile

moosemama · 22/07/2011 20:45

Hello Lenni, how the devil are you?

Lenni · 22/07/2011 20:53

All good thanks Moose, all the better for hearing the final bell go this afternoon! Time for some relaxing - or maybe not with DD and DS around! How are you?

Teaandcakeplease · 22/07/2011 20:58

Oh yay! Lots of faces are back. I hope over the Summer we'll have more chat on here. I've missed it Smile

I'm ok thanks - relieved its the holidays, no more IEP reviews, inclusion meetings, SA request prep for six whole weeks! Grin Mind you, my previously school refusing 9 year old has spent all week sobbing, both at home and at school because he doesn't want it to be the end of term and he's going to miss his teachers. Its great that he actually likes school now, but it seems he may have gone too far the other way now! Grin

Had my weigh in yesterday - have now lost a total of 19lbs since I started on 16 June (17lbs since I started logging it all) - so am feeling quite proud of myself tonight.

Hi Tea, how are you?

GotArt · 23/07/2011 02:17

tink Did you get a pet at the petshop? Grin Lots of wii... I'm dreading when DD starts asking for these sorts of gifts.

moose Hope your dog is ok... gosh, the things they get into, eh.

19lbs! Fantastic!

stripey Good on the 20 week scan. Wow, others pregnancies do go by fast.

Hello Lenni

Tea I miss it too.

So there is nothing wrong with DD2, I guess she just wants soothing. I broke down and bought a soother today while baby shower shopping. I hate them actually. After her afternoon feed, 2-3, I laid her down like I usually do, (but she always wakes up instantly, so I end up putting her back on the boob cause she starts routing and crying and is relentless in her pursuit, which in the future will be a good trait, but right now, mum wants to feel more mum than a bloody milking machine), and when she started, I popped it in her mouth and she raised her eyebrows momentarily, then went to sleep. She's been out for 3 hours so far. I also propped her up on a pillow. The midwife also suggested chamomile tea remedy which is OK to give BFing infants to calm her nerves; she gets really irate. I blame that on the stressful pregnancy. Now to work on her letting her dad hold her. I'm getting a breast pump from a friend tomorrow to start pumping as I'm back to work in almost a month. Its only two days a week, but I have to leave her for more than 4 hours each time with DH.

Ah... she's just woken up. Ciao for Ladies.

tinkbig · 23/07/2011 18:17

hi mm - well done u

gotart yes got atlanta a hammy sopretty

Teaandcakeplease · 23/07/2011 19:38

Ahh dummy's. DD had one DS didn't. You can always wean her off it in a few months time once she's more settled. 3 hours sounds lush.

Well nothing more guaranteed to drive me potty than bedtime with 2 lately. Both just settling after a whole bunch of shenanigans and tomfoolery by them Angry

Off to tidy flat now and put my feet up. Haven't thought too far about DD's cake yet. The truth is my bank account is rather empty. I cannot even afford a party for her this year and it's too late to organise much now anyway Blush I'll probably do a nice trip to the park in the day with a picnic perhaps if the sun shines.

Hi

Dog - lovely to hear from you. Saw your thread about naming your puppy - he is sooooo cute. Grin What did you decide to call him in the end?

Not good news about my own dog I'm afraid. Took her in first thing, saw the senior vet who said he didn't think it was an abcess, more likely a huge tumour with associated infection and that they needed to operate straight away. During the op they found a major infection encompassing a big hole, but no source for the infection. The also found a huge amount of abnormal, fibrous tissue which has been biopsied and that her tongue has several adhesions that are effectively causing her to be tongue tied - hence her not being able to lap water. We should get the biopsy results on Wed/Thursday, meanwhile she has a huge open drain/wound on her throat that has to be redressed every hour and she's restricted to a crate. She's not in a good way at all. Sad If we lose her we'll have lost four dogs to cancer since we got married 19 years ago and two in the past seven months.

On a more positive note, we had a house inspection today by my dad's gf (the trustee of the estate) after a week of frantic housework, sorting, decluttering and cleaning (I am completely knackered now). Dh stayed home to show her round, while the dcs and I hid at my Mum's house, but it went well and she's agreed to several maintenance jobs, a new drive, turfing the back garden and a new kitchen, possibly even with a small extension for next year.

GA - all three of mine have had dummies and haven't had any problems giving them up. We only ever let them have them at nap and bedtimes once they were out of the first few months though.

Tea - we are struggling this month too, currently eating what's left in the cupboards (not easy on my diet) as we have no cash for shopping until payday next Thursday. We are committed to our holiday now as well (not that we could cancel with ds1, as its one of his annual obsessions) and the vet bills came to £70 last Thursday and £260 today! Shock

Dave is a great name for a chiuhuahua! Grin

She will (hopefully) be 12 in December this year. The dog we lost just before Christmas was 13.

I saw you are getting married. Congratulations! Your wedding plans sounded lovely. We are having a Mad Hatter/Vintage Tea garden party in July next year to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary and 25 years together. My long term goal is to lose another 2st 9lbs by then. I'm finding logging everything on www.myfitnesspa.com has been the best thing for keeping me on track.

Well done on the potty training. Dd is not remotely interested and started to get a bit stressed about it, so I've shelved it until we come back from holiday now, at least that way we don't have to stop at every set of services we come to.
