Quick pop by

moose sorry about dog. Sad

Hey DOG Yeah for potty training. Dave very good name. Grin

Went to baby shower today. If you can, have a look at the group picture I just posted on FB... the playset in the background was made from scratch by friend's DH! Milled the wood from the property even! Amazing!

Had a good night sleep last night, normal sleep with 2 month old. Hope tonight is the same, although she didn't sleep much today and has been in the sling for the last two hours sleeping-ish. She hasn't eaten since 4 so she will likely realize how hungry she is when I wake her to get her in her jammies. lol.

Ciao for now, hope your weekends are going lovely. The weather has finally shown summer here. Grin

moosemama · 24/07/2011 19:29

Just noticed my bad link above, should have read www.myfitnesspal.com.

Hi GA, good to hear you are finally getting some sleep - here's hoping you get more of the same tonight.

The dog is a little brighter today and drinking on her own again, which is a good sign. We set dd's old baby monitor up in the kitchen last night, in case she got distressed. She was a bit restless, but we only needed to get up to her twice and that was just for reassurance. She hasn't wanted to stay in her crate today and has spent the day sticking to either me or dh like a little limpet. The other dog thinks he's died and gone to heaven, as he loves sleeping in the crate and has now commandeered it for himself. Have to say, she looks rather dapper with her big white bandana (has to have one on to protect the wound and catch the drainage - yuk) - dh is going to tie dye them before we go away, so they look a bit less like chopped up bedsheets (which is what they are).

Have spent another fifty quid on dressings and bandages today. Shock At this rate we'll be bankrupt before the week's out.

Lenni · 24/07/2011 21:27

Hello Dog Grin

Glad your dog is a bit better moose.

I've started potty training today, it is going terribly GrinGrin

moosemama · 24/07/2011 22:37

Twas a bit like that for us Lenni, decided on day 2 to leave it for a while. She was really excited about her big girl pants and new toilet seat, more than happy to sit on the toilet for hours on end, but apparently not to actually do anything on/in it. Life was all a bit too hectic for me to handle it all calmly enough at the time, so I figured it was best not to push it for the time being. Aiming to have another try when we come back off holiday.

It was so different with the boys. Both of them went straight on the toilet and never looked back. Ds1 had one accident and ds2 didn't have any. Everyone tells me its usually easier with girls than boys, but it seems it works the other way round in this house. Hmm

Thanks Dog. All my dogs have always been insured, but it got to the point where it was costing more to insure the dogs than it was the car! Add to that that because two of them were over 10, their excess was over £250 each and we just couldn't afford to keep it up. You should be OK with Dave, being tiny is a distinct advantage when it comes to pet insurance.

Our vets have started offering a sort of savings/payment plan where you put in every month and that money is then there for their treatment. We were going to start it in September - typically! Hmm

Happy to report my girly is a lot better today and has even been a bit naughty cheeky begging from the dcs at lunch time. She wanted to play with her toys in the garden this morning as well which was lovely to see. So obviously the treatment has helped a lot, but we still have the biopsy results to worry about.

Hope you have a good time at the park. We're staying in dog sitting, but she's doing so well, I might crate her and take the dcs up to the park for an hour tomorrow.

GotArt · 25/07/2011 16:45

moose Good to hear things are looking up for your girly.

DOG Ah, the potty training. No advice but at least it summer time. LO can run around with no pants on. My girlfriends mom said to let them be in their wet pants for about 5 minutes to get a little uncomfortable and then they make the reference. Sort of like how children in cloth diapers are easier to train because they feel themselves get wet in the diapers.

DD2 is 8 weeks! Can't believe its been two months. She is rolling over now and holds her head up pretty good. So the soother is working pretty good... a few glitches here and there, but all and all. Last night she was on and off boob from 8-10.30 with wide awake eyes until finally I just said, "Look Pips, this has gone on long enough. Its time for bed." and took her to bed, tucked her in, popped soother in mouth, said I love you, kiss and goodnight and then I jumped in the shower. We have an en-suite so I could see her from the shower and she passed out in the time it took me to get wet. WOW. Putting her down awake and she goes to sleep is something I was never able to do will DD1 until she weaned herself. Very happy.

It was a gorgeous day yesterday and the park was packed! We went for a lovely little walk.

Gotta go... stickers, crayons, markers and books are out!

tinkbig · 25/07/2011 20:58

mm - so sorry to hear about your do Sad

hi tea - we get messin around at bedtime too

dog - great name
andwell done on the potty training

saw a puppy in pets at home yest he was called norman

have had a good day here

Teaandcakeplease · 25/07/2011 21:27

Ha unless they're my DD who still leaks in her knickers and wanders about damp in them whilst bursting for the loo. Because stopping what she's doing to go to the loo is inconvenient apparently for her Hmm So I'm Envy of Vi GA. No doubt about it as my girl is 4 on Thursday and still accident prone.

Fly by visit, knackered and off to bed

moosemama · 25/07/2011 21:35

Hi Tink

Norman! Am loving all these old fella's names for dogs. We once rescued a border collie called Brian. Grin

Tea, I think that's fairly normal. I know lots of children, boys and girls, that were still holding on and leaving it too late to go by the time they were 5 even. Life is too interesting to stop what you're doing and go to the toilet y'know. Grin Mine are 7 and 9 now and we still get them running screaming through the house at 100 miles an hour because they've been busy and left it too late - in fact, ds1 did it yesterday morning, then completely missed the toilet bowl when he got there - cue a tirade from one very tired mummy who'd spent the whole week scrubbing and cleaning the house to within an inch of her life. Hmm Angry

tinkbig · 26/07/2011 14:00

hi mm - glad abit better today

also going to resume potty training after hols she has lost interest thisweek
we go to france 2 weeks yest very excited
havent been abroad for ages

wow gt - 8weeks !!!

my dd1 was awful at one stage kept wetting when concentratinf too much on the computer

GotArt · 26/07/2011 18:44

Oh, DD waits a lot of times till the last minute, then you hear 'Hurry, hurry hurry', as she goes tearing for the washroom. She has developed a no pooing in public, which is a pain. We were at Goldstream Park having picnic lunch and she just wouldn't go; tried three times. Then all of a sudden, she grabbed her corn cob and juice box and was heading back to the car saying 'home mummy. poopoo home mummy, come on'. It was kinda funny, the scene.

E GAD!!Attempted abduction in my area right in their backyard! By a stranger! Bizarre www.bclocalnews.com/news/126214693.html

A few weeks ago we saw a weird guy loitering about the playground that gave us the willies and then I saw him there again the following week, both times by himself. I thought I should take a picture but then thought I was just being paranoid. Fuck... go with your instinct, eh?

Teaandcakeplease · 27/07/2011 07:53

There's been a string of attempted abductions here a few months back. It's very alarming isn't it.

OP posts:
Teaandcakeplease · 27/07/2011 07:57

Just read the article. Very disturbing that he brazenly walked into a backyard

OP posts:
moosemama · 27/07/2011 08:35

Oh God GA! How scary! Terrifying that he was confident enough to enter someone's private yard as well.

We've had a several around here, a man trying to get kids into his car on their way home from school. The police sent us all a letter via the school about it. Apparently someone saw him talking to some school kids from his car two roads over from us and took a photo of the car and they've got him now - not that they can do much, as he hasn't actually done anything - yet!

Well, to add to our holiday complications dd is poorly - tem 38.2, wheezy, sore throat and cough. Sad She was so grumpy yesterday morning, then it came out all of a sudden after naptime. Add to that that the motorway we use to get to the ferry is closed after a fire in the main tunnel and they don't know when it will reopen as the structure of the bridge is uncertain and I'm starting to feel a bit like this holiday is fated. Hmm The only positive is that the camper passed its MOT yesterday - with a list of things that need to be done by next MOT, but still, at least it passed.

Poorly dog is obviously feeling much better and has returned to being her usual pita! Grin Its lovely seeing her wanting to go out and play and trying to outwit me so she can roll and scratch her stitches. Looking back, I think she'd been poorly for a couple of weeks at least, I was just so busy I hadn't noticed how much more subdued than normal she was. She might be 12, but she still thinks she's a puppy. Daft dog! Biopsy results tomorrow morning - keeping everything crossed.

Dh is picking up his new company car today - we didn't want the damn car, but he was told he had to have it and it all got very complicated and political, so he gave in. Not worth rocking the boat over in the current employment climate. Its a Nissan Qashqai.

Right, I'd better shift myself. Plodding on with the packing today, want to have it all done by Friday so I have enough time left to do some baking to take with us.

tinkbig · 28/07/2011 20:04

wow gotart very scary!!!
mm - poor dd and buisness with tunnel , glad caravan passed
hopefully it will all besorted in time for hols

had a good dayhere abit warm
hubby and dd1 left for hull this morn away till wed
wenmt into town with dd2 hasbeen nice

GotArt · 28/07/2011 21:49

Sorry about sick DD moose... hope she's ok for holidays.

Tea Hope you got some sleep... re: FB thread

Went to Willows beach today, a bit of a drive into Victoria. Won't be going there again. The sand sticks to you, the beach was rather smelly on top of the yea house which just smelled like a fry house. Friends 3 year old cried pretty much the whole hour we were there; people around us actually moved. Blush We were suppose to go to lunch at DH's restaurant but I was to hot and sweaty and bitchy. So we headed home, cue DD crying to see daddy and I toke a different way home to avoid downtown and hit massive road construction. Angry Feeding DD2 right now and DD is watching Toopey and Binoo, her favorite, and now its pver while typing this and its nap time... reckon I will make a gin and tonic when she goes down. Grin

moosemama · 29/07/2011 09:15

Thanks Tink and GA.

Dd got a lot worse, temp just under 40, couldn't swallow food and wouldn't drink - temp went up after calpol and we were just starting to worry and planning to take her to out of hours and the fever seemed to break. She's had a temp since then, but much lower and is now eating - although being very picky - mainly fruit and ice cream! Hmm I think its viral tonsillitis, in which case, she should be fine by the time we go away.

Biopsy results hadn't arrived yesterday, so we're still waiting on them. Vet said wound is healing exceptionally well and looks really good, so she's off the antibiotics now - amazing recovering in just one week. If we havent' heard from them by tomorrow morning with the results, we have to call them. Vet wouldn't be drawn on possibilities, but talked dh through what they found and it sounds very nasty. Several separate pockets of abnormal tissue, full of infection, but no source for the infection - dh asked if it might be fibrosarcoma (what killed our boxer cross boy after he was misdiagnosed) but she wouldn't say, just said it could be a lot of things and best not to speculate at this point.

Anyway, more cheerful news - I've lost another two pounds making 21 lbs overall since June 14th. Am really hoping I can keep it up over my holiday. I have promised myself a couple of glasses of wine and one meal out in my favourite restaurant, as I think I'd feel cheated/hard-done-by if I denied myself everything, but other than that I intend to be good and try to get lots of walking in as well. Am not missing eating rubbish anymore, in fact am really enjoying all the fresh fruit, veg and salad now.

moosemama · 29/07/2011 12:35

Vet just called ......... its not cancer!

Apparently its an unusual type of cellulitis, most likely caused by a foreign body such as a splinter. She needs another week of antibiotics and anti-inflammatories and she should be fine.

She's not been as perky today after finishing the first course of anti-bs yesterday and I guess the results explain why - she obviously needs longer treatment to get rid of the infection. Am picking up a new prescription this evening and they're checking her over tomorrow just make sure she's ok.

Massive relief - ds1 actually jumped in the air and cheered when I told him, bless him. He's only started paying her any attention at all very recently, with the occasional pat on the head and apologising when he trod on her paw, it would have been awful to lose her just when he finally started to be interested and bond with her.

hackneyzoo · 29/07/2011 19:16

Just a quick fly by, I intend to catch up good and proper at the weekend.

moose that is brilliant news about your dog, what a relief. Hope DD is on the mend too.

Crazy hectic few weeks, finished work, packed up house, put everything into storage, moved in with PIL at the other end of country, still waiting for new mortgage offer to come through as survey took so long and house price dropped, waiting to exchange next week, not stressed much!! (The last one is a lie)
DCs are all good, DD2 turned six months last week. DH started new job yesterday lecturing at Uni of newcastle, so I am officially a SAHM... I reckon it will last about 6 weeks! Am keeping half an eye open for some PT work, just to keep things ticking over.

Off out on the toon tonight, am looking forward to it. Hope you all have a good weekend.

Teaandcakeplease · 29/07/2011 20:56

Ahh that's wonderful news Moose about your dog Smile

OK I need advice yet again about sleep. DS is becoming a nightmare, everytime I try to drop his daytime nap he becomes montrous, falls asleep quick at bedtime but still wakes stupidly early, so by the 3rd day of me trying to drop the nap I give in and give him one as he's become an overtired horror. He used to be such a good sleeper before I moved him to a bed. The jack in the box continues but the stair gate on the bedroom means he doesn't get far but he still comes to the gate and calls for me for his lost bunny or more drink. Tonight he wouldn't settle for sleep until 8.15pm after the nap today. So what time do yours go to bed, what time do they wake and have yours all dropped the nap now?

OP posts:
hackneyzoo · 30/07/2011 11:38

hi tea, ds is in bed at 7 and up between 7 and 8, he dropped his nap a while ago. If he naps he won't go to sleep until much later. The downside being that without a nap he often starts to unravel from about 5pm onwards. Maybe put him to bed later? I don't know , I am pretty useless at the bedtime thing, when DS gets up and won;t settle I normally just let him play or cuddle on the sofa with me for a bit and then sling him into to bed at 9 or something. I did have a stairgate on the bedroom door but he worked out how to open it Grin

I need help with dd2 and sleep. She sleeps well, the problem being she has co-slept with me a lot, and the ladst few weeks she has been in bed with me cos the cot is in storage. Now we are at pils house she will not settle or sleep in the cot, or take a bottle of formula if we are out for the evening. Any ideas on how to get her to settle in a cot and take a bottle?

had good night out in the pub with other grown ups and no talk of dc, made a refreshing change. I have a shandy hangover. Blush the shame

tinkbig · 30/07/2011 15:40

mm - thats great news about dog and ds Grin

gotart - sorry for stressful time out

tea - have same sleep prob here with dd2
if she has a lunch time nap we put her in bed at 7pm she doesnt drop off till 8pm
if she misses lunch nap she is a mess by 5pm
really moody and overtired and then doesnt drop off till 7:30pm so not much different cant win!!
i agree would put him to bed abit later

having a good wknd Grin
hubby and dd1r having a good time in hull
both parents over today doing garden, this mornin bought girls bits to do on plane go a wk mon
bought some hamster bits as well

GotArt · 30/07/2011 17:41

tea DD goes down for nap between 1 and 2pm and gets put to bed at 8 and sometimes falls asleep right away, sometimes takes her a bit. Either way, she stays in bed, (sometimes I have to start taking away dolly's to get her to stay there, her favorite being the first and usually that gets her to stay in bed). Like I said, we go to playgrounds or beach or walk for an hour everyday. I know you have older DD that is completely knackered after dinner which makes it difficult to do anything with DS. Try some toddler yoga, (youtube toddler yoga, there's lots that come up). Try also some kind of activity such as colouring or dominos or lego. No tv. Play classical music in the background. Also try lavender bath bubbles or hand cream as it calms. As for getting up, my friends DS was an incredibly early riser too no matter what she did and she bought this clock and it worked like a charm. He waits until the sun goes on. It took a few mornings for him to understand, but it did help.
