Well, the heels weren't too bad. no one told me that they're renovating the grandstand where toddlers is & the only way to get from the carpark is over a soggy, muddy grass verge!!!

Got a bit of a dilemma going on! A very good friends dd who is 4 months older than Toby is a bit iof a horror. She pinches, scratches, bites, pushes, hits and anything else you can think of. Toby oftens seems to be on the recieving end of it and regularly has bite marks on his arms & has a scar on his face from where she's scratched him. She really does try to stop her and has tried every type of punishment you can imagine.
We were there today & toby fell down the stairs. no one saw what happened but once he'd calmed down he said she'd hit his head. it sounds like she hit him on the stairs so he fell. I'm not saying she pushed him & if she had it i don't believe she would have realised it was any different to pushing him on the flat.
Anyway, its really getting to the point now where I don't really know if i want them to play together anymore. if she had been the cause of him falling it could have been really nasty. I just don't know what to do! they're really good friends one of dhs oldest friends. Sad

it's such a shame when pepole cant have children of their own Shock Angry

Grin

Dixiebell · 17/02/2011 19:52

Anyone who uses ebm, can you tell me what to do if DH wants to go out for the day and take bottles of ebm with him? Do we need to keep it chilled throughout the day then warm it before use? What if there's nowhere to warm it? And I've got a load of milk in the freezer, is it okay to defrost that at home, then take it out with us for use later, bearing in mind it might not be needed till much later in the day? BFing is so much easier!

cinnamongreyhound · 17/02/2011 20:04

lumpybananapuree I have a little boy I childmind who I've looked after since he was 1 and he went through a phase of biting, hitting, scratching and kicking and it was always ds1. It was good for menas a cm as i didnt have to explain it any other parents but i felt so sad for ds1 that as soon as one bruise had healed he had another. It lasted what felt like a long time but he has come out the other side. I think that if she's dealing with it properly and keeping a close eye on her dd then there is no need to stop seeing them. Perhaps don't leave them alone together anywhere that is properly dangerous. I appreciate it's horrible to see your child get hurt but good friendships are hard to find especially as she's dealing with the bad behaviour.

Luke has been back to his usual smiley happy self today! Had no small minded children today so asked ds1 what he wanted to do with mummy while Luke slept his answer watch cbeebies!! So we did, then had lunch dropped him at school did my food shopping and got back just in time to pick him and Childminded children up ( one of whom was off school sick but mum hadn't bothered to let me know Angry). So all in a pretty relaxed day, fingers crossed Luke sleeps as well tonight as he did last night!

MammyG · 17/02/2011 22:49

banana do you know them well enough for her to allow you to be a little stern? Not outright cross obviously but just in an 'Im his mummy and I dont like it' kind of way. Some of my friends and I are like that we each others children. My best friend wee fella was very rough and I just looked at him and said 'dont do that again' Because its not him mum saying it he actually took heed. My DS2 was a biter too. Thankfully never bit friends children but bit DS1 in another friends house. She took him aside and told him how disappointed she was and hoped he wouldnt do it again - worked for a good while!

God I am tired today - off to my own cot now! Night all

cinnamongreyhound · 18/02/2011 01:34

I'm up for the first feed of the night, oh well maybe tomorrow!!!

Dixiebell · 18/02/2011 05:32

cinnamon, we just missed each other earlier. I'm now up for 3rd time tonight - 2 feeds and one nappy so far! First one at 12.30. It's worse getting up just an hour or two after you went to bed isn't it? Hoping this is just a blip not a sign of things to come, as Arlo has been sleeping 12 hours recently! Incidentally, he woke me from a dream where I was speeding up the motorway to get to the Birmingham meet up (which I can't come to in rl)!!

cinnamongreyhound · 18/02/2011 05:42

I find that the worst Dixiebell! luckily tonight he woke just as we were going to bed. Dh had to tell me he needed feeding as a baby was crying in my dream so he didn't wake me up! Luke is so random at night there's no telling how often he'll be up, last night was lovely though. Maybe meet you here another time, although it looks as though you've only just gone this time too!

lumpybananapuree · 18/02/2011 10:04

Cinnamon its been going on 2 years now! When do I stop subjecting him to the torture?! Mammy I've told her off a lot, put her on the naughty step, everthing her mums tried!

FriggFRIGG your "friend sound lovely! I wish I could meet her! You do get some right wierdos on the net!

JessemyParkson · 18/02/2011 11:16

Morning all :)

Having a lazy day today, so I made encouraged DH to take the car to work :)

I took Mary for her Bounty photo session yesterday - OMG they were adorable! I had to buy was coerced into buying the largest package they did, but seeing as I managed to get a mahoosive pic of Mary in a similar pose to one I have of DS at the same age, I'm not grumbling (DH did though!) :o I blame MIL - she was with me and agreeing with me egging me on lol

There was such a cute shot of her in her nappy, 'chasing' rubber ducks across the floor - sooooo yummy!

JessemyParkson · 18/02/2011 12:05

It's official - I'm floored!

DH has just asked me to ADD photos to our package! Wow!

I'm off to pay for them tomorrow... Eeee, can't wait!

Debs75 · 18/02/2011 14:12

Saoirse DD1 rolled over really early and was always rolling away at the wrong time. It took her ages to walk though.

I am sooo cold, have been collecting books back in for DP and it is bloody freezing outside. At least Lucy is having a nap. Agains she is one that likes to be snuggled up in her coat and pram, she was asleep before we left the house.

saoirse86 · 18/02/2011 14:13

jessemy I kind of wish I'd done some of those photos. DP didn't want to because he used to be a proffesional photographer and still does photos for his website. He promised me he'd bring his work camera home and do some lovely photos, that was 21 weeks ago! I should've known better than to believe his lies!!

banana I have no advice for you as I don't know many other children that age, sorry. But I agree that maybe you shouldn't leave them alone together, and you should explain why that is. Although I'm sure you're usually happy for some adult time!

frigg seriously now, she's a nutter. I think you should get us to vet all your weirdo internet friends before you meet them.

Well I am officially bored. I'm waiting for our new sofa to be delivered. The house is in a right state because of it. DP decided the old sofa bed should go in Orlaith's room so we've had to decorate her room eventually and now it looks like a waiting room with the old sofa and armchair in it. This is not going to work! Hmm

saoirse86 · 18/02/2011 14:15

Debs I'm kind of hoping Orlaith will be a late walker. I've got 2 more years of open university to do and I'd like her to stay still till it ends

JessemyParkson · 18/02/2011 14:36

Random tangent, I finally got round to loading photos of Mary's baptism on FB

here

if anyone's interested :)

[smug emoticon] I made her cake all by myself! (Except for the white icing - I used ready-rolled Blush)

cinnamongreyhound · 18/02/2011 15:14

Not sure I know any 2 1/2 yr olds that don't walk saoirse86! Tbh if she didn't walk by then you'd be a frantic mummy!

I'm impressed with the cake JessemyParkson, I've made a train and igglepiggle cake for ds1's first and second birthday. Last year I cheated and bought one of those printed icing sheets from Ebay with Lightening McQueen on it but this year he's already chosen a dinosaur cake from my book so need to be organised!

Lumpybananapuree perhaps you could make excuses for a while and leave seeing them to adult only times?

FriggFRIGG · 18/02/2011 19:10

park the photos are lovely, your boy looks like such a sweetie Grin

yup,i will defo not be meeting anymore internet weirdos...

except you guys of course Wink

mapletrees · 18/02/2011 22:15

Well, we've finally joined the weaning club. Louis had homegrown buttercup squash* for lunch today. I think his main feeling was confusion, followed by interest, but I think he liked it as he leant forward and opened his mouth for more Grin.

*The only one I've ever managed to grow in our tiny veg plot.

mapletrees · 18/02/2011 22:17

Lovely pics Jessemy. I'm also impressed by the cake, ready-rolled icing or not Wink

Dixiebell · 19/02/2011 00:51

12.30 again! what you trying to do to me, Arlo?!

cinnamongreyhound · 19/02/2011 06:35

Me too Dixiebell, but then he's slept until now so I can't complain really!

I think that's pretty much always the first response mapletrees! what the he'll is this, ah it's ok, give me more to try.

It's been very quiet here the last few days, hope everyone is ok and just been busy with babies and life in general. Dh is working today so not sure what to do with myself. Should probably get on with some chores but I stay at home all week and like to do something at the weekend! Ds1 wants to go to the dinosaur park but then he'd go there every day if he could. Off to my mums tomorrow as it's my brothers birthday, which will be nice. Hope everyone has a nice weekend.

mapletrees · 19/02/2011 09:49

You should definitely go out and do something nice today cinnamon, esp if you're all feeling better from being ill. But it might have to be indoors as it's forecast to piss it down all day :(

saoirse86 · 19/02/2011 10:49

We got our new sofas and I know this sounds weird but our living room looks like a grown up's living room now. Grin

I tried Orlaith with one of those 2 handled cups yesterday. I offered it to her and she just grabbed hold of the handles and put it in her mouth. She even tipped her head back to drink the water. Shock Confused
Do you think it's because she's ff so she understands pretty much how to do it?
I shouldn't say this should I?! Next time she'll probably just tip it on the floor!

Dixiebell · 19/02/2011 10:50

Going shopping in a bit with Arlo and DH. I need to get shoes to go with bridesmaid dress, so DH is taking charge of Arlo, taking a bottle with us. Second ever bottle - wish us luck! If it goes well might get DH putting him to bed tonight.

JodeyBogeyPicker · 19/02/2011 12:14

Saisore Harlyn loves his 2 handled cups. He knew what to do with it straight away too and had a little smirk on his face when we looked at him in amazement as though to say "yes, I'm a clever boy and don't I know it". I've got two non spill ones as well as the normal one (all Tommee Tippee). He prefers the non spill one with the soft squishy suck piece (he likes to bite it) though he doesn't like swallowing the water and just lets it all dribble out his mouth all over his bib.

I'm going to Hoar Cross Hall (Stafford way)on Monday for an overnight spa stay. Its to celebrate my auntie's 65th birthday. I cannot wait. Soooo looking forward to being pampered. I'm leaving Harlyn with his daddy for a whole day and a half. I'm really going to miss him and it will be my first night without him Sad but i think it will be good for him and DH to spend some quality time together without me butting in to take over. I'm looking forward to a full nights sleep though my sister snores so i MUST remember to take ear plugs.
