No teeth on Arlo yet banana, he's 7 months next week. Also no rolling, crawling, or attempts to do so!

Just got back from 2 nights away in Yorkshire. We drove in the evening both ways so Arlo slept the whole 4 hours, then straight to bed and slept through till 7.30 this morning. Also was fine in the travel cot. It's only 2nd time we've stayed away with him and he was a lot younger before so I'm pleased he was so adaptable!

beaditAli · 28/04/2011 10:04

Haha Lumps I guess you're right but if you live in my world you really wouldn't have noticed it that much! Don't buy or look at papers and not much of a tv person either. I'm just holed up in my jewellery dungeon too much I guess. [cblush]
I WILL be watching tho!
Happy EXTRA Bank holiday everyone! [cgrin]

Cinnamon It's way out of our price range but we got it cheap as we went with DS's disability group, the activities were a bit steep as well so we just enjoyed the scenery.

Lucy is finally enjoying food and will even allow me to spoon feed her things. Her poo (sorry) has changed colour and texture so I think she is getting a lot from the food. STILL no teeth but she is very good at biting me

patito · 28/04/2011 14:01

Hi [csmile], (just to use it)

Its everywhere here so it must be everywheer there, DP´s workmates asked him if we were going back especially to watch it Confused.

Thank God Maia is not only one being clingy, it´s a nightmare. Like you said cinammon she´ll be perfectly fine with DP alone, i walk in and cue crying, tossing head back etc till I pick her up. I assumed it was her teeth, but am just guessing there really.

So a good friend of mine is pregnant and I wanted to buy her a gift, seen as we´ve all been there wondered what your best/fave pregnant gift would? Not talking a lot of money here, and something I can buy/send by internet.

Im thinking a book, running risk of being boring perhaps ??

saoirse86 · 28/04/2011 16:06

Well, Orlaith's one tooth that started coming through ages ago is still a corner of a tooth, no others in sight. It's like it started to come through and then realised it wasn't supposed to be coming through so just stopped! [chmm]

I'm really glad Orlaith's not being clingy because I have my exams next week and she's been sent off with everyone I can think of recently to give me revision time. I'll stop being a rubbish mummy as of 1pm next thursday. [cblush]

DP has decided that he doesn't want her to go to cornwall with my mum and sister next week which means I'm really stuck. PIL's are away too so DP has to be at work. One SIL says she doesn't want to look after her on her own, the other SIL can't take the time off work. I'll just have to manage when I'm at home but I have no idea what to do with her for the actual exams. [cconfused]

On a nicer note, she's really starting to crawl now. I can't leave her anywhere and she's decided the dog's toys are far more interesting than her own so darts across the room when I'm not looking to get hold of them. She's one quick mover already! [cgrin]

bananacurry · 28/04/2011 18:35

Patito I can't believe you're not coming back to watch the wedding! [cwink] We're watching it at home then going round to a friends house. She's having a party and there'll be about 50 there. I'm very excited!

As for the baby gift, I'm a fan of personalised things. A plate or picture, but you obviously have to wait till they're born. Or a hand/foot print thing. Something with a bit of a personal touch Check out this website www.giftsfromhandpicked.com/ I would have loved anything of here!

cinnamongreyhound · 29/04/2011 06:00

Anyone want a 7 1/2 month old, free to a good home?!?!

Not only does he only want mummy all the time but he now won't settle to sleep on his own, is up at least once a night again and has gone backwards with eating and frequently wants milk instead of food [cangry], I'm knackered [csad].

Hope all your exams go well Saoirse86! Can your sister not have orlaith? At a last resort I work for a company called sitters, they put parents in touch with childcarers (not sure if that's a word!) for a fee. Everyone has crb check, minimum 2 years experience, first aid certificate and has had an interview plus 2 references. Sitters charge parents a monthly fee (£12.50ish) plus a booking fee (£4) and then they text the booking to several childcarers, we then reply if we can make it, get sent the details and parents pay directly when they get home (£5.95 per hour here but it varies over the country). Once you've used someone and you like them you can request them again. I think it's a good system and it works well for me. I'm out tonight for my first job since I had Luke, the little boy was only 5 months last time I went, he'll be so big now!!

Hope everyone has a nice bank holiday and those interested enjoy the wedding.

Haven't heard from mapletrees in a while, how's Louis getting on at nursery?

I haven't had any replies from sassy34264, who ever it was who asked about her.

mapletrees · 29/04/2011 11:10

Been a bit rushed off my feet - staying with my parents last weekend, catching up with friends in Bristol, introducing Louis to my aunt and uncle, and have just had some more work done on the house, which was v messy, so we needed to clear the downstairs and clean everywhere.

Louis' doing ok at the nursery cinnamon. We left him for 4 hrs on Weds, and they said he was fine for most of it, and he ate his lunch and had a good sleep. He was quite whiney when we went to pick him up, but I think it was because he was due some milk. Thankfully he's not a very clingy baby right now, so he doesn't really cry when I leave him.

No teeth yet for Louis either banana. I don't mind at all as he chews just fine with his gums, and I'm betting he'll be a biter when he gets them Grin.

patito · 29/04/2011 14:48

We have our second birthday party this week tonight. Am I the only person who hates them. Honestly the first one there was a plate of ham, chocolate spread sarnies and then no less than 8 types of crisps. DS went berserk, Im a mean mummy and we dont have crisps at home (mainly ´cause I dont eat them, chocolate and biscuits on the other hand are a daily staple rare treat.)

Saw the wedding on the internet, was telling DS about the princess and he said "yes she´s got a baby in the belly" [chmm]

Suns out so hoping for a nice weekend, new cycle path opened so might try that out.

Hope you all have a good one. x

mapletrees · 30/04/2011 11:06

So, maybe there's something to cinnamon's " mn jinx "..... After she posted about Luke sleeping through again, the next post he's waking every night... And last night I said that Louis doesn't have any teeth yet, but guess what... this morning there's a hole in his gum with his first little whitey coming through! I think we should test this out, so...

I don't think Louis is ever going to sleep through. Wink

Anyone else want to try?

saoirse86 · 30/04/2011 12:47

I don't think Orlaith is ever going to sleep through either, and certainly not from tonight until forever!!! [cwink]

And I don't think I'm going to pass my exams with flying colours.

(Do we think this will work on other things apart from babies? [chmm] )

Debs75 · 30/04/2011 17:19

Patito That sounds like a horrible party. I don't let my kids have crisps as they are full of fat and bad for your teeth. Choc spread sarnies are just yummy tho.
So the princess is having a baby eh? There was something on the radio about them going to try asap, who thinks they already haveHmm?

Lucy can say 'da-da' She does it every chance she gets and if you ask where da-da is she looks at him. DD2 was telling her to say mummy so we're teaching her that now.

saoirse86 · 30/04/2011 17:53

Debs that is so cute! [cgrin]
Orlaith says dada and mama and all sorts of things a lot but obviously doesn't associate them with anything in particular yet. But then Lucy's older than her so maybe in a few weeks.

Dixiebell · 30/04/2011 22:44

So turns out I don't need to mush up Arlo's food so much as today he managed to swallow down a 3cm piece of card! [chmm] My sister was supposedly looking after Arlo and he was chewing one of his pop-up books, she said 'i'm surprised he doesn't rip these flaps off', and I wanted to tell her not to let him chew it off but am working on not sounding neurotic. Next thing I know, he's got it in his mouth, I tried to whip it out but too late. Was really scared he was going to choke on it, honestly I don't think I could swallow a big piece of card like that, but it just got swallowed down, and my dad (a GP) assures me if it can go in it'll come out okay! To be fair my sis was v apologetic, but I'm abandoning my laissez-faire outward appearance and going back to neurotic mummy mode. Nobody's going near my baby without prior clearance and hovering by me [cwink].

cinnamongreyhound · 01/05/2011 06:48

Eek! That is scary dixiebell and amazing what they can fit in. Luke got hold of a bottle cap with dh yesterday and it got wedged in his mouth! He does chew very well on food though so I'm sure cardboard would be no problem for him [cwink].

So how did you get on with your jinxs mapletrees and saoirse86? Luke seems to be doing 2 nights sleeping well, 2 being a total pain so perhaps it's just coincidence and I am too quick to say he's been sleeping better [chmm].

We had a lovely day yesterday, just the 4 of us relaxing together, other than having to go out collecting census' in the evening it was perfect! Only got until weds now and then I get my evenings back! It has been an experience not one I'm sure I want to repeat, my trouble is I want to do the best job and I think about it all a lot so has definitely taken up more than 15hrs a week!! Have a few that I'm pretty sure I'm never going to get but otherwise it's gone quite well.

saoirse86 · 01/05/2011 13:47

cinnamon I'm not falling for that and jinxing myself further! [cwink] But it may well have had some effect even if it didn't work entirely!!

mapletrees · 01/05/2011 17:03

Good point saoirse... let's just say, last night was better than normal (up at 2am, 5am, the awake at 6.15am) but I'm not expecting it to continue...

FriggFRIGG · 01/05/2011 19:34

hello everyone....
so i dont think Arlo really likes food,he only ever wants milk, this does mean i am now losing weight at a decent rate, but, still,he eats about 2-3 tblsp a day, including finger foods,is that anywhere near normal????!!
his poo does seem smellier different...

he's standing alone now,for about 2-3 seconds and then falls spectacularly!normaly onto his head...he wont stop trying though.
and he's smiling or laughing ALLTHE TIME...unless someone else trys to hold him or i leave the room,EVER.

right im going back to catch up....also...

ive got a secret!!
want to know???!

i cant tell anyone else....

no,no,i musnt.....

saoirse86 · 01/05/2011 19:59

frigg we're not anyone and who would we tell?! Wink

FriggFRIGG · 01/05/2011 20:19

IM GETTING MARRIED!!!!!!! [cgrin] [cgrin] [cgrin]

he finally asked me!!

and beady found me the most perfect engagement ring

(yes, yes, dopey DP asked me without a ringHmm )

do you want to see it?!

bananacurry · 01/05/2011 20:28

yes yes yes!!! Woohoo! yey for FriggFRIGG thats great news! I was asked without a ring! Got to choose it myself so its perfect!

I've been cuddling a 5 day old baby today! She was tiny. 6lb 2oz. I can't believe ds1 was smaller that that. she was like a doll. Didn't make me want another tho!

Ollys doing brilliantly with food. I suddenly realised we go on holiday in 4 weeks & mush won't be as easily available so I've just been giving him our stuff cut up small. He's had stuffed marrow, toast & spag shapes and pasta he's managed really well, no gagging & has loved it! Roast chicken tomorrow.Grin

Olly 8 months today! Shock

mapletrees · 01/05/2011 20:40

Congratulations Frigg GrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrinGrin

saoirse86 · 01/05/2011 21:12

Oh my god, congratulations!!!! [cgrin] [cgrin] [cgrin] [cgrin] [cgrin] [cgrin] [cgrin] [cgrin] [cgrin] [cgrin] [cgrin] [cgrin] [cgrin] [cgrin] [cgrin] [cgrin]

Of course we want to see the ring! Link please!

When DP proposed to me I had no idea whatsoever but he knew which ring I liked (bonus of getting engaged to a jeweller!).

If you hadn't kept it all a big secret, my DP could've copied been inspired by it and done you a good deal! [cwink]

mellymooks · 01/05/2011 21:34

frigg that is fantastic news hooray hooray hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Am very happy for you indeed!! About time I say, now are you gonna beat me to actually tying the knot?
We've decided to wait until next summer when we will have been together 10 years seems appropriate some how to get hitched then.
Yes we need to see ring NOW!!!! Come on (stamps feet impatiently Grin )

cinnamongreyhound · 01/05/2011 21:38

How exciting FriggFRIGG, congratulations!!!!! Glad you've found a ring you like and of course we want to see!! On the food front, Luke has 2-3tbsp 2 or 3 times a day. Some days he only has 3 milk feeds others he'll have 6, today he wouldn't eat lunch just wanted milk, I am not loosing weight though [csad].

Had a lovely relaxed day today, went out with my mum for a few hours and then we were just at home and in our neighbours garden. I decided not to work at all for the first day since the beginning of April [cshock]. Luke's clinginess is getting worse and I couldn't even put him in the car seat and sit next to him without him screaming, aargh!!!
