OKAY..here is the ring its a cheepy but a goody (i hope) clicky click

it has to be cheep as i want these for our wedding rings.they'll be commissioned and handmade just for us so are a bit special!! (im thinking similar to no'35 on that pg) [cgrin]

FriggFRIGG · 01/05/2011 21:43

(you need to scroll down on the 1st link!

FriggFRIGG · 01/05/2011 21:45

no melly,i dont reckon we'll get married for a yr or two at least...so your safe! [cgrin]

mellymooks · 01/05/2011 21:59

Gorgeous! Wedding rings look amazing too, however will you choose, so many gorgeous colours and designs?!
Ah I don't mind if you beat me to it, we've been engaged 6 years so I was beginning to think we would never get round to it!!

cinnamongreyhound · 02/05/2011 12:07

We are going on holiday in 4 weeks too bananacurry, where are you off to? We are going to a caravan so I will take luke's food with me but he's very good with lumps and finger foods anyway. I'm soooo looking forward to it! We went the same time last year as we didn't want to go away too close to my due date and it was lovely weather but we only went for mon-fri so it was a lot of travelling, packing and unpacking just for a few days there.

Debs75 · 02/05/2011 13:16

congratulations Frigg I like the silver ring but the wooden ones are brilliant. I'm allergic to most metals and the engagement ring dp got me several years made my finger swell. will have to point him to those ones.

When we went away we didn't take any food for Lucy. she had cheerios and a crust of toast in the morning and helped us eat our dinners. She likes to chew on veggies and has discovered baked beans

bananacurry · 02/05/2011 17:12

We're going to Menorca! We took ds1 away when he was just a year old, to Turkey, but that was to my MILs apartment so food wasn't an issue & he was a year so totally eating what we were. I'd got it into my head that Olly would be 10 months so got a bit of a shock when I realised he'd only be 9 months! The hotel reviews say that there's always a pasta dish so that'll be fine & he loves bread soaked so I'm sure there'll be some sort of stew type thing. Just a bit nervous about salt content etc but if all else fails, its only menorca and there will be overpriced baby food in the shops. He's more than fine with lumps but we're still struggling a bit with finger foods. he tends to gag & be sick.

It'll also be the 1st time we've all had to share a room and Olly still wakes at 5 for a feed so not sure how that'll go down. I'm getting really excited cos foreign holidays are a big thing for us. It doesn't matter how skint we are, we'll always find the money somewhere!

I've got a cupboard full of cartons of formula to take as in my head that resolved the need to sterilise cos you sterilise against the powder so ready made should be fine. I'm now trying to get him used to cooler milk cos he likes it really hot but I guess if I stick it in the sun for 10 mins that should warm it!

I'm starting the bikini diet tomorrow. I'd like to say no chocolate but thats not possible so limited chocolate. No alcohol except weekends and no munching in the evenings! When we moved we found a rowing machine in the roof so dh has brought that down & cleaned it & i've bought myself some trainers for som serious exercise! I will be a size 6 again! Hmm

Sorry cinnamon you did ask! Blush

Frigg love the ring. Its beautiful & price doesn't matter. Its the meaning that counts. When we were on honeymoon there was another couple who had left their wedding rings at home cot they were too scared of loosing them cos they were so expensive!

cinnamongreyhound · 02/05/2011 17:23

I'd love to go abroad but we can't find the money but I'm still excited! Just nice to have a week all together and thanks to my census collecting, enough money to eat out a bit so I'm not cooking every day.

I absolutely love the wooden rings FriggFRIGG!

bananacurry · 02/05/2011 18:54

A holiday's fantastic wherever it is. We try to go to Scarborough at least 3 times a year. even if its only for 1 night. No pressure from anyone or anything. Just the chance to be a family!

saoirse86 · 02/05/2011 19:09

I love the wooden rings too frigg, really unusual and pretty!
banana we get loads of customers coming into the shop, often after their honeymoon, saying they lost their wedding rings in the sea. How gutting must that be! And even worse, they're often not insured outside of the UK. [csad]

How exciting about all these holidays! [cenvy] We're going away with DP's family a week on friday for 4 days. Just to a caravan near scarborough. DP's not coming till the saturday evening after work so I think I'm going to feel quite lonely for that bit. Luckily I'm driving up with just Orlaith and one SIL (the one I get on with quite well) so no 5 hour awkward journey with PILs! But I'm looking forward to taking Orlaith to the beach and in the pool if the weather stays nice.
DP's been saying he wants a foreign holiday this year too so fingers crossed we'll be going somewhere nice with just the 3 of us. [csmile]

cinnamon I think you more than deserved a day off! [cgrin]

I shouldn't have fallen for MN-jinxing myself with Orlaith's sleeping. It bit me in the bum last night. [csad]
I'm saying nothing more about my exams, except that I'm terrified. I've never been a nervous person, always been level-headed and told myself that if I don't know something, worrying about it won't make it better. But that's gone all out the window and I feel so unprepared. I'm going to have to do some woman-in-labour-style breathing techniques I think! [cconfused]

cinnamongreyhound · 03/05/2011 08:21

I know what you mean Saoirse86, I did my degree part time and while I was completing my final exams I was moving in with dh and dealing with a lot of hassle from his ex-wife so I didn't do anywhere near as much revision as I needed to and I was absolutely s*&@ing myself but I was lucky and got questions I knew well. In the end although my average was 71% I didn't get 70+ in enough modules to get a first and I was gutted. 6 years down the line it doesn't really matter and doing exams when you are older with more responsibilities is not as easy as when you are at full time uni with nothing else to worry about so give yourself credit!

Luke is trying to pull himself up everywhere! He can do it on me with no trouble but on other things he can't quite manage it. He tried in the bath yesterday and ended up on his tummy which ds1 found hilarious! We sit him up now on a flannel so he doesn't slip and as soon as he pulled himself up he was no longer on the flannel so slid over then rolled onto his back and then started trying to sit back up. He was up at 12.30 and 5.30 last night, grrr if he can sleep through 3 nights in a row why can't he do it all the time? I don't think I did anything differently!

saoirse86 · 03/05/2011 11:12

cinnamon wow you clever woman! I'll just be pleased if I actually pass my degree. I actually find it quite annoying that the cut off points for each level of degree is 10% higher at the OU. So I need 60% overall just to pass. Sad I have got lucky with childcare though. My SIL was at work this morning and just asked her more senior boss if she could have the rest of today, tomorrow and thursday off, and she said yes! So now I'm MNing revising! Grin
I can't wait for thursday afternoon when it's all over, for another 5 months anyway. I'm going to take Orlaith to the park, go out with DP and have some champagne to comiserate celebrate. Roll on thursday afternoon!

Orlaith's started trying to pull herself up on everything too. I think it's because she's seen my niece doing it. They're so competitive. It's really funny how they copy each other. Imara does huge smiles with her mouth wide open, so Orlaith started trying it but just screwed her eyes up, then Imara started trying screwing her eyes up but does a pout at the same time, now Orlaith's doing the scariest eye-screwing-weird-pouting thing. I hate to think where this is going to lead. They'll be committed by the time they're 1! Hmm

Orlaith's slept really badly the last 2 nights. DP's been seeing to her these 2 nights to give me a rest but I end up awake longer than normal with her crying. I think tonight I might just do it myself and see if she'll settle more easily. Sad

patito · 03/05/2011 14:21

Congratulations Frigg thats fab news, I love the wooden rings too, very beautiful.

Melly DP and I will have been together 10 yrs next yr also, no sign of a proposal here though Sad and maybe a little Envy. Cant complain as he said from start that he doesn´t believe in marriage and am mostly OK with it, but just for clarity I would say yes it if he asked. Wink

saorise Hope alls going well, I cant imagine trying to study and sit exams now. Good luck for these next few days and roll on Thursday!

Slightly Envy at these holidays, would love some time away (or even just at home tbh) with DP around. We are planning to go away but not till late September.

Maia is sleeping really badly, waking every hr or two, am shattered. Also DP put her down to sleep on Saturday night and not a peep from her, with me its feed-cry-feed-cry-feed-sleep-cry-feed etc, he´s then managed it the next 3 nights running, pops her down sings to her and she´s off . On my own tonight and I dont think I´ll get the same response Angry.

bananacurry · 03/05/2011 19:05

Evening all. Those of you with clingy babies, I actually managed to leave the room today. I played peek-a-boo at the door a few times till he got bored then just walked out! he was fine! Wonder if it'll keep working!

Saoirse Good luck with the exams!

newmum001 · 03/05/2011 19:14

congratulations Frigg!!

cinnamon i feel your pain, Grace's sleep is all over the place. She's so clingy it's unbelieveable. The girl who never liked to be cuddled will now not be put down!

On the bright side dp passed his driving test today and has bought a car and insured it today so it will hopefully make our lives so much easier! Now to get grace used to being in her car seat, she hates it nearly as much as her pram!

To all those with crawling babies did they just do it or did they need encouragement? Grace is sitting totally unaided now but has to be surrounded with cushions cause she still topples occasionally but if something rolls out of her reach she just cries till i pass it back and doesn't seem to be attempting to move!

FriggFRIGG · 03/05/2011 20:21

Arlo was not encouraged AT ALL.
and he's is very close to taking his first steps...

he holds on to the sofa with one hand,
then lets go,
stands for a second,
trys to move his leg....and....

Grin

i think they just do it when they do it....nothing anyone does as such, though maybe wiggling a toy a few inches away may be an incentive Grin

he's still pretty uninterested in food, munches on finger food but doesnt eat a lot IYSWIM,and mushy food he pulls disgusted faces and crys Sad

cinnamongreyhound · 03/05/2011 21:44

Yay for newmum001's dp!! Some bastard opened their car door into mine while I was parked dropping ds1 at school today and left a bloody great dent in it, of course no note Angry!!! Must have hit it pretty hard too.

saoirse86 · 03/05/2011 21:48

newmum Orlaith just started getting up onto her knees while she was lying on her front, then started moving by kind of stretching out to reach something, then started crawling on her belly, now on her knees (usually anyway). She didn't need any encouragement at all, in fact I tried to discourage her! Hmm

She also still falls over when she's sitting but I don't think it's by accident most of the time, it's just her preferred way of getting on her belly, and she couldn't car less about hitting herself. (We do have a very shaggy rug so it's not such a hard landing).

Orlaith's not eating anything really. She'll happily put stuff in her mouth and munch it but then spits it out again. Sad

MammyG · 03/05/2011 22:09

Hellew! Feels like an age since I logged on! Stupid internet connection has been awful and my brother and his family have been around so all hectic!
Frigg Congrats! Its so exciting! I love pearls and the wooden rings are nice too. DH took a chance and had a ring when he proposed. Luckily I love it!
Saoirse Good luck with exams. Its not easy juggling it all with little ones!
Phoebe is all smiles and noises. In fact she had a wee concert last night at 2am! Had herself in stitches with all the loud noises she can make and then all of a sudden in the middle of all her fun just fell asleep! She is rolling and happy out for a while on her tum but no other movement. The boys were 10 months before they crawled tho so expect she will be about the same. She is all dada and raspberries! She is waving byebye but in a funny hand thrashing way but she lights up and starts at it whenever anyone says bye!
Im doing alright. Have been exhausted and not set to get better. DH working and training oodles to head to france with my brother on the cycle thing you may have seen on face book. He will be gone for almost 4 weeks from mid june to mid july. Its an amazing undertaking and will be great if they can raise loads of money but Im getting sick of juggling so much on my own and getting nothing done outside of minding the children. Thank God I took unpaid leave for a while because I would be demented with this much pressure and work!

Debs75 · 04/05/2011 11:26

Lucy can finally sit up all by herselfSmile
She tries standing but she is nowhere near able to do it on the laminate floor. Will have to put the mats down so she has some kind of grip. DD1 and DS were crawling really early and I think it was the carpet we had.
Yesterday all she did was feed on me, she had 3 meals but all she wanted was me. It was really tiring as she was there for ages each time. I know on BLW they don't drop milk feeds but she is increasing them

cinnamongreyhound · 04/05/2011 18:34

Luke had a couple of days like that Debs75 but is back to normal now.

I know how you feel MammyG, hope you get some rest soon and dh's training goes well. I either need a baby who sleeps through, a ds1 who does as he's told or no other children to have to look after Hmm which is more likely to happen?

newmum001 · 04/05/2011 19:54

cinnamon i know how you feel (well not the ds1 or mindees) but Grace hasn't slept through for weeks (except on sunday night when my mum was babysitting grrr) i really took it for granted when she was sleeping through! i swear when she gets back to normal i will never ever complain about being tired again!

DP went back to work this morning after 2 weeks off and i've felt quite down all day just cause i've been on my own again and i find it really lonely! Think i'm gonna have to start the job search this week. The only problem is that Grace still won't self settle and now is not the time to try it really with her being so clingy. This might sound like a silly question but will nurseries still take her even though she needs a bit of help to get to sleep?
