As so many of us are not coming and I am a bit of a control freak and getting a bit anxious that we have no definite plans I thought I'd start a separate thread to discuss the meet up!!

mapletrees if we are catching the train together I'd like to book a ticket asap.

What time are we thinking of meeting? How long/which bus etc will we need to get to the pub?

Good idea to start this new thread! Do we have a postcode / location for the pub?

cinnamongreyhound · 13/02/2011 10:52

Will have to wait for saoirse86 I guess, could google spotty dog Birmingham but seems a bit vague!

Hiya ladies! I thought it was at the rainbow? If it us it's in digbeth which is just down from new street station. Unless the spotty dog is something different x x

saoirse86 · 13/02/2011 12:12

Something really weird happened there. I clicked on the link in our thread and it all looked weird. I posted my message but it disappeared and too me to some other page. Strange! Confused

Anyway, not sure why you thought it was the rainbow, maybe because it shows it on the map as it's across the road, or maybe because you're so cool and though I might be too Hmm Maybe not!

It's The Spotted Dog, Warwick Street, Digbeth, Birmingham, B12 0NH map here

saoirse86 · 13/02/2011 12:12

*took

saoirse86 · 13/02/2011 12:21

I forgot to say, the map shows Bordesley is the nearest station and your train ticket might let you change and get off ther but it'll probably involve changing stations from New St to Moor St.

I could do my best to collect people from the station. I have a 6 seater car and 3 baby car seats. I might be able to find a toddler car seat too if I need to.

comixminx · 13/02/2011 13:20

I think I might walk from New Street - Google reckons it'd be about 20 mins which sounds fine. What time are we talking of - I think no specific time was agreed?

beaditAli · 13/02/2011 15:34

Sad I can't make it! Would really love to but when I filled in the calendar of our dates I didn't know I was going to Cardiff earlier that week. Sad
Please, please, please take lots of photos! I'll be there in spirit Grin

saoirse86 · 13/02/2011 20:39

That's probably right that it's about 20 minutes. It's uphill but I manage it when I was pregnant so should be fine.

I can be there any time really. I suppose it kind of depends on when people coming on trains etc can get there.

mapletrees · 13/02/2011 22:44

Hey, sorry cinnamon - I wasn't ignoring you Smile have just been so busy the last few days haven't been online at all!! Thanks for starting this thread, we needed someone to kick us all into shape a bit Grin I had a look at the trains and there is a direct one to BNS every hour on the hour and they take about 2hrs 40mins. I think it's cheapest just to get a return, rather than the advance singles, unless you know some clever way of getting it cheaper. If we leave at 9 it would be £74.50, but if we leave at 10 it's only £49.70. The 10am one would also give you a more civilised start to the day.. do you think getting there at about 1pm is ok? I don't mind getting either if you have a preference? Also, I don't mind a 20min walk at the end. Will pm you my details...

cinnamongreyhound · 14/02/2011 00:46

Nope that's what I found too Mapletrees just wondering if it might be easier for me to drive? Otherwise we both spend £50 and have to get to and from the station plus over 2 hrs on a train? Obviously being on a train is less stressful esp. If it's empty but time and money wise driving may be a better option. Don't know what Louis is like but Luke is very happy in the car, only cries of really hungry and just watches the world go by. Perhaps see what others say about timings? Will reply to pm, it's weird because I think you're the only one not on facebook so the rest of us know rl names!

I'm easy for anytime too. Really looking forward to it. x

JessemyParkson · 14/02/2011 12:20

It links to the mobile site, that's why it looks funny lol

I'm in, and hopefully, Frigg will come up with me :) yay! Really looking forward to it

JessemyParkson · 14/02/2011 12:33

frigg, can you pm me, or give me a message on FB re Thursday? Wink

JessemyParkson · 14/02/2011 12:35

saiorse what's the parking like there? Does it have a car park?

saoirse86 · 14/02/2011 13:03

There's no car park, it's all free on street parking. TBH in the daytime it's sometimes difficult to find a space because people park there then walk in to work, but it's not impossible.

JessemyParkson · 14/02/2011 13:04

oki doke, I'm sure I'll manage Wink

thanks :)

FriggFRIGG · 14/02/2011 22:39

i need times pepole!

some one give me times!!!

park i'll pm you once i know times as im trying to book train tickets! found some cheapy ones! but im just looking for one to b'ham...just in case,as our car seat is about the heavyist you can get and i dont really fancy dragging it to swindon if i can get to b'ham cheap!! Grin

FriggFRIGG · 14/02/2011 22:51

oh and i see some of you are meeting on trains, which stations are you meeting at?
just trying to work out what is going to be easier?
2 1/2 hrs on a train alone

or 1 1/2 hrs on a train alone, draging heaving carseat plus baby crap, plus baby, followed by a car journey with a lovely lady

decisions,decisions!

cinnamongreyhound · 15/02/2011 01:11

I am now driving with mapletees and I think from the route planner I've found that once I've picked her up it will be 2 hours so without too much trouble could be there between 11 and 12. What time are the cheap trains getting in? I'm sure we can work around that. Dc and I are ready by 7.30 everyday so can be up and out reasonably early if needs be just say what suits.

OP posts:
JessemyParkson · 15/02/2011 09:20

Frigg , I have spare car seats if that's a help?

comixminx · 15/02/2011 09:48

I can be there for about 12 by the time I've walked from the station. Frigg, dunno if it'd be any help for you but I'm going from Oxford direct to Birmingham.

FriggFRIGG · 15/02/2011 09:59

park that would be amazing! and pretty much seals the deal!

i'll just go and check what time the trains get to swindon...

FriggFRIGG · 15/02/2011 10:05

okay,so i can either be in swindon for

9:13 or 10:13

and i can leave swindon to go home at either:

17:59

18:59

19:29

19:41

for super cheap fares!
so it really depends on how long we intend to stay in b'ham, and how long it takes to get from swindon to b'ham and back...

Grin
JessemyParkson · 15/02/2011 10:22

It will take approx 1.5 hours to drive to/from B'ham, and as far as getting back, I don't have any plans for the evening (I think!) so what ever time :o

And getting into Swindon, what ever time is easiest for you Wink. If everyone else is getting there for 12-1ish, then the 10.13 train would be fine I think

I'll PM you my mobile number :)
