QF hope things get sorted with your mum. Are you going to Keswick convention? We used to go loads when I was a kid. Hope the weather is ok for you. Can't believe it's first scan time already? Bet it doesn't feel that quick kfor you!

Beth's last day in reception tomorrow. She informs me it's toy day... have seen no letter or anything to that effect so will treat with caution!

Cleaner was here today. My kitchen and bedroom spotless. Plus them coming spurred me on to clean my bathroom (akin to my mum visiting me and my getting the bleach out!!!)

I suspect the thread will get super quiet over the summer again so I'll see you all from time to time and then prob normal service will be resumed in September.

alibobble · 19/07/2011 18:18

Oh no, my washing machine has broken... again. This is the 4th time in 2 years. Not impressed at all :(

Phoenix · 23/07/2011 18:23

Wish me luck, tonight is night number 1 with the bars removed from Noah's cot bed. We weren't planning to do it til September-ish but seeing as my parents put him in the bottom bunk last night (as I predicted they might now they have bunk beds) I thought we may as well give it a go at home Hmm!!

alibobble · 24/07/2011 10:07

let us know how it goes. wondering when to move becca as she loves beth's bed but I remember big bed being the end of beth's daytime naps and I still need some peace!

Phoenix · 24/07/2011 12:27

It went ok actually, although I didn't sleep very well cos I kept listening out for a thud above me (bedroom is in the attic). He went straight to sleep, because he was knackered. I checked on him when I went to bed and his head and shoulders were hanging over the side, so i tucked his duvet under the mattress, but apart from that he stayed put all night :o. He even stayed in bed til I went up to get him when he woke up this morning. He doesn't always nap anyway so that isn't a problem here.

QueenFee · 24/07/2011 21:11

Its so funny because its nearly a year since I moved Alfie into a bed! I've just got so used to it now. He still goes down for a nap :)

Ali hows the washing situation? Yes were off to the convention :)

Phoenix · 24/07/2011 21:38

A year?!? Gosh, you're braver than I ever was :o. If my mum hadn't put him in a bed on Friday I had no intention of doing it til about September. Night number 2, he took longer to go to sleep (due to having a half hour nap on the sofa at 4pm, big mistake!!!) but didn't get out of bed which surprised me. Hopefully I'll sleep better tonight :).

We booked a holiday to Ibiza on Friday, for next June. I'm so excited already. It's our first holiday abroad with the boys.

Hope everyone, especially the dc's survive the school holidays, Lewis is skating on thin ice already :)

OP posts:
QueenFee · 24/07/2011 21:49

It was more of a case of he would no longer sleep in a cot ( or sit in a highchair, drink out of a sippy cup sigh)
Know what you mean about skating on thin ice... holiday bible club to keep mine busy for the next 3 days :)

I can't see me going abroad for a long time. The cost of the passports is so prohibitive! Enjoy your holiday though!

Phoenix · 25/07/2011 09:00

Tell me about it re passports. £49 each for Lewis and Noah and £77.50 for dh's cos his ran out about 5 year ago. We would have never been able to even think about going abroad if we hadn't got a bit of extra money from claiming for our mis sold PPI on our loan. Our claim was upheld so we've got £6000 coming our way when they decide to put it in our bank :o.

Ali what a great job (term time breaks and all...). How are you finding the first week of the hols?

Bed we put Tristan in a cotbed when we came back in May mainly because the cot has gone to be cleaned due to the fire. The first week was playing the "lets get out of bed all the time" game but he pretty good now. Phoenix how's it going? And wow re the claim. That is brilliant.

I need some money coming my way...sadly it all seems to be leaving me. Sad

QF is it 1st scan time already? Hope it goes well.

Jetli re nursery place can you tempt fate and pull her out hoping there is a place in Feb? Or reduce her mornings to 1 or 2 a week? Saying that, I am starting Tristan in a preschool in Oct but it is term time only and 2 mornings (9:15 - 12:45). I am doing it so he gets more stimulation than he does with me, meets children his age (all his "mates" are really the older DC's friends) and for me to have time to get on with household stuff/errands on my own. I haven't had a break in 6 years and I am going to be honest - I am looking forward to the 2 mornings. Smile

Hi to anyone lurking.

Must go and do boring house stuff. The older 2 are a playscheme 2 days this week so better take advantage of just having 1 at home. Grin

QueenFee · 27/07/2011 16:09

Had my scan! All is well saw it kicking and a strong heartbeat :)

Phoenix · 28/07/2011 22:19

Brill news QF :)

Noah had his 2 year assessment today. He weighs 31lb and is 92cm tall :). He's doing great physically but he's been referred to speech therapy. I was expecting it tbh, but he's really started trying to talk the last few days so i'm hoping it all comes together before we get an appointment. Ds1 was a late talker and is still having speech therapy so i know if Noah needs it he will have it.

Lillabet · 29/07/2011 11:47

QF Excellent news Grin.

Bed Sam is still in his cot but he seems to like it and he hasn't tried to escape (yet!) so we will wait for a little longer Smile. It is about the only "baby" thing he does these days! Sad It's a fight to get him into the high chair, he much prefers to sit with me and DH! He only uses his Viners small cutlery or grown up cutlery. He won't use melamine plates either, if he has one and I don't he waits for me to finish and uses mine! He prefers to drink out of normal cups (but forgets they don't have a lid, so whatever he is drinking goes everywhere) but will still drink out of his sippy cups. He never really got on with Doidy cups, I don't think he likes the angle of it! Basically he is growing up too bloody fast! Sad

Phoenix Good news on the claim - we're not eligible Sad. You had a 2 years assessment? Shock Wow, lucky you, I'll be lucky if I get a letter from my HVs Hmm

This is a bit of a short and odd post Blush, but Sam is currently trying to cuddle Hmm the cat and won't take no for an answer!
Will try and catch up with you all soon but got a busy weekend ahead (Sam's first time sailing Grin) and then a busy week too!

JetLi · 31/07/2011 18:58

Fab news QF Grin

Lillabet · 01/08/2011 17:41

Just wanted to drop in and say that Sam absolutely loved his first ever sail Grin, time to start getting him trained up for working the foredeck with Daddy for the proper racing Wink.
Got to go before Sam gets into something he shouldn't again Hmm

JetLi · 02/08/2011 07:54

Grin sounds good Lillabet

Misspaella · 06/08/2011 16:52

QF great news about your scan. When is the due date?

Lillabet isn't scary how fast they grow up? Tristan hasn't been in a booster for months now (we ditched the high chair as needed the space) and tears his bib off so that is gone too (along with the sippy cup) Sad.

Phoenix it sounds like you have a good HV service. DD hasn't had a check ever (she is now 4) and neither has Tristan. I am glad you are not worried re the speech. DS1 is still in speech therapy (now 6) and being supported at school. It has affected his reading (or shall I say lack of ability to read) but I know he will get there.

Jetli what have you decided to do about the nursery?

Hi to all lurkers or those who are on holiday.

Smile
JetLi · 07/08/2011 08:04

Hi MissP - decided to stick with where we are for the moment. They moved her recently into toddler room and she really loves it. How are things with the house? You must be stressed to hell Sad

Lillabet - saw these & thought of you Grin

Got a letter from our HV team to telephone for a 2 year assessment. Must ring them up actually although finding the letter might be a problem - house is a tip Blush

alibobble · 07/08/2011 19:31

hi all,

on holiday but got broadband at the cottage so keeping up to date with all the goigs on! Having a great time. Weather not amazing: So far looks like Sat rain, sunday showers, monday, showers, tues fine Wed and thursday: the entire map is blue! Luckily there's lots to do around here though the roads are so twisty that a "20 min journey" according to google takes a good 40! Hoping to take a trip down some caves tomorrow. Hoping also that Beth doesn't have a panic attack down there as it's 35 mins to get there (according to google) so that'll be a lot longer so it'll be a wasted trip otherwise. DH excited at idea of caves. Must be a caveman thing :)

Hope all are well. Gotta go and put my feet up with a brew. (though the water does make me
realise how lucky we are in greater manchester with the good quality of our water)

xxxx

QueenFee · 11/08/2011 09:55

Hello all. Hope your all ok and no one has been directly affected by these riots :(

I'm due 15th feb :)

I also disliked the water on hols! Our water comes from Bala lake so is lovely. Manchesters comes from Thilmere in the Lake District dosn't it?

Just about caught up with washing etc after hols. Next job sort through uniform for september.
Off to see Thomas at Llangollen

QueenFee · 11/08/2011 09:58

Stupid phone!
... on saturday, ds was 5 on tuesday so its his yearly treat. Brill day out for little ones though. Unlimited train rides, face painting, balloons, puppet shows all for a bargain price of £35 per family!

alibobble · 11/08/2011 18:54

Sounds fantastic. We're pleased not to be at home at the moment as Pete's office is in central manchester so he'd have had to go in amongst the craziness. My mum is also pleased that my sister is on holiday too as her husband works in central liverpool and has to comute in on public transport last thing at night.

@QF: exciting news re due date. hope you are feeling ok and not too run down. Are you on a due in feb thread as well? Our chuch is organising a prayer meeting in the face of the riots tommorrow night. Bit gutted to be missing it but glad we're on holiday in other respects. Is your church doing anything similar? Several friends have commented that at least we can do something constructive in that respect.

Well more rain here. Never minds. Been to a free museum (how long will that last I wonder) and been to the chocolate shop in kendal (yummy). Although there was very little we could buy with no milk but we did treat ourselves to some cinder toffee.

The other day we found this fantastic bookshop that sold a mixture of new and old books including children's stuff. I found a "garden gang" ladybird book from years ago that i had as a kid. I thought it was also funny as it was Peter potato and Alice Apple. I knew there was a reason I's married him.

Gotta go, am shirking my bathime duties. xxx

QueenFee · 11/08/2011 20:32

Lol at Alice and Peter! We had robert raspberry and grace grape on tape as a child - brilliant books and iirc written by a 9 yr old.

Yes i'm on the feb bus and a very busy one it is. Oh course its a leap year too...
Our church dedicated part of our tuesday night mtg to prayer, partly for the riots.

alibobble · 18/08/2011 10:33

hi all. Home from hols and crashed the car. Well done me. Not too serious I think though still waiting to here how long it will take to fix. :( never mind. How is everyone else?

JetLi · 18/08/2011 15:18

Shock Ali - gosh - hope no-one was hurt?

How ya feeling QF?
