Oh HMM that's so sad. Poor poor family. I agree with CSWS - Please do say something to her. Or send a note if you don't want to talk to her directly.

Myjob - Sympathies, it sounds horrible.

Well I've been feeling really sick and tired. Dp is having to bring me toast in bed in the morning otherwise I can't get up. I really hope that doesn't turn out to be all for nothing. Scan on Friday.

StarExpat · 25/01/2011 21:50

I always knew myjob's DS was very clever Grin
the few times I've been around him, he's awed me every time!

Fingers crossed for you, cf. :)

Pistachio wishing you sweet comfortable dreams tonight.

Myjob the food you've eaten sounds like it would hurt! Could you make smoothies?

Honeymoonmummy · 25/01/2011 23:19

Thanks all. I went to class in the end, it brought back a lot of memories, I got quite upset! Blush

Myjob, I hope you feel better soon.

I was in two minds about telling you about neighbour as I didn't want to upset/ scare anyone. He died last week. DH and I were both upset about it, DH even more than me actually. It's a bit awkward because I don't really know her that well. I'm in two minds about attending the funeral on thurs, dh won't go as said would be too upsetting and he'd feel weird being that upset in front of them when we didn't know them/ him that well.

What if a woman was unaware she was gbs + and waters broke and took a day to get baby out?

ronshar · 26/01/2011 21:00

I wouldn't be tested either to be honest. Too many other things to worry about, another what if is just too much for me to bother with. If we worried about all the what ifs no one would have a baby. They would be grown in a tank.

HMM I would go and knock on the door and just give that poor lady a small bunch of flowers. It is horrible when people ignore you just because they dont know what to say. She will appreciate your gesture. Is the funeral an open one? If not then you wont be expected to attend. I dont envy you your position at all. Very sad for everyoneSad

Myjob. You poor thing. You seem to be well and then get poorly again. Well done to your very clever boy. He is on the same books as H! Do they use Oxford reading tree? I do love the magic key books.

Oh ok. When my waters broke they did gbs test and was negative.... But I think I had antibiotics after about 30 hours later when still contracting not delivering.

StarExpat · 26/01/2011 21:19

I wonder why I had abx? I just realised/understood a few days ago that not everyone has a blood transfusion after giving birth, either... Not sure why I assumed that? They just came in and said "time for your transfusion" or similar. As if standard practice!

Waters were clear. Maybe concern of poss infection since 24 hours had passed since waters going. There was a lot of talk about 24 hours when they first went.

StarExpat · 26/01/2011 21:31

Yes iron level well below 6 (4??) after birth.

Honeymoonmummy · 27/01/2011 10:04

Just a quick post - I got the little boy's age wrong, he wasn't 16 months, he was 22 months, only 4 months younger than Poppy. I'm going to the funeral today, I'm going to be a mess SadSadSad Poor poor little boy.

Can someone help me on funeral etiquette? He's coming home at 11.30, do I stand outside my front door and bow my head when this happens? Then I know the funeral is at 12.30 at a church round the corner, literally 2 mins walk, I dont know if they walking behind car or driving, do I stand outside when car leaves then walk round, I don't want to be late for it, or should I leave earlier and get there before 12.30?

And I don't know if they want flowers or donation and to whom, would it be OK to put £20 in an envelope and write on the envelope "We didn't know what your wishes were so I have enclosed some money for a charity of your choice". (I've already posted a card through the door).

Help!

Honeymoonmummy · 27/01/2011 10:16

I know I should have found all this out beforehand BTW Sad

Honeymoonmummy · 27/01/2011 10:47

I now know from the papers that it's a private burial and that it's family flowers only - was only going to go to the church anyway. I don't have a car today so might stand outside at 11.30 but make an early start on the walk to the church for 12.30. I'll give the envelope as above.

Thanks MyJob. There were lots of other envelopes there the same so think i did the right thing. The service was upsetting as you'd expect and i'll never forget it. He's sleeping with the angels now x

ronshar · 27/01/2011 14:27

HMM. I was thinking of you all today. A traumatic thing to go through for everyone.

StarExpat · 27/01/2011 14:44

:( HMM. Thinking of you today.

How very, very awful.

Coconutfeet · 27/01/2011 20:40

Sad A hard day for you HMM. I can't stop thinking about that poor family.

Myjob - I'm glad you're feeling a bit better. This winter has really been non-stop illnesses in your house hasn't it? Oh, and well done to your ds, he should be really proud of himself!

Star - Your whole birth sounds like it was so traumatic. I hadn't realised you'd had to have a transfusion as well! But it does sound like you might be anaemic again. Have you been tested again.

I'm off to bed. Scan at 10.30 tomorrow. Eek.
