it appears I posted the last post... so here's a new thread

Pepper that was how I first noticed yesterday.
No spot when he got in the bath, afew when he got out and by the time I had got around to dressing him after the bath I could play join the dots.

Star how are you all now then? No more sick I hope. I have a picture of you being sick while putting sheets in the washing machine and also beating your mattress. Just to make sureGrin

pepperrabbit · 24/01/2011 11:53

you forgot hoovering ronshar!
My tumble dryer has died. Apart from the logistics of laundry for 5 on one airer and a handful or radiators (one of which also seems mysteriously malfunctioning..) i have snapped the bleed key in one of the radiators, and DD is constantly dressing herself in damp laundry....
She currently has her pyjama top on over her clothes (dry thank goodness) and an odd pair of the DSs socks over her trousers.
Looks like some mad floral hiking adventurer Grin
With a layer of first class stamps on top as I didn't realise that when she said "look mummy, stickers!" she was in my purse....
Just a normal monday here Biscuit

ronshar · 24/01/2011 12:12

I would not survive without my tumble dryer. That would class as a phone DH at work emergency for me.
W is making the most of his poorly status with Peppa on demand and him shouting every so often MORE MILK MUMMY.
I think I am going to get bored of the chicken pox very soonHmm

pepperrabbit · 24/01/2011 12:46

well, I'm waiting in for a man to fix my tumble dryer, hence being online all morning!
i feel DH will realise that it is vital to have it fixed when he runs out of pants.

it's the 70 socks a week plus school uniform that's defeating me at the mo.
I have knickers hung up in my lounge FFS.

pepperrabbit · 24/01/2011 19:47

I have done triple bathtime since that last post.
The washing is exponential pistachio.. it's not just one more...

StarExpat · 24/01/2011 22:11

triple bathtime... sounds crazy!

We don't have a tumble drier... when we first moved here, I used a friend's tumble drier then one at a laundromat and compared to what I was used to in the US (a 30-40 minutes to get it all completely bone dry), I found it to be so time and energy consuming. Maybe she had a really bad one, though! We don't have space for one now, but if there was a good one, I'd love one in a bigger place. I grow tired of hanging clothes on the curtain rail, the airer, the radiator...etc. and turning them and folding them as soon as they are dry... and this is never all at the same time.. so just goes on and on and on.. I'm sure you all know too well!

aww glad W has peppa pig for his chicken pox :) Is there a chicken pox episode? How is he feeling, ronshar? I remember when Q had a fever and was poorly for a bit with it was the worst part... especially as when spots started oozing... yuck yuck yuck. It's really horrible. But it passes quickly!

Yesterday felt fine just exhausted. Today woke with a wave of nausea and feel a bit off centre/dizzy. I just had my period this weekend, we use birth control and I'm not pregnant. But that's what it feels like.

So, as I felt this way in pregnancy and was very anaemic, I conclude that I am anaemic? I'll go get a blood test this week. Feeling so tired. I could barely lift myself out of bed this morning (very unusual, regardless of how tired I am).

StarExpat · 25/01/2011 10:06

Oh myjob :( Sore throat is the worst illness I can think of. It is truly awful because you can't stop swallowing even if you don't eat/drink... yuck. I hope that passes soon and you can get some sleep. Can you nap when N does to catch a bit in the day when it isn't as sore?

What did you do for your study day, pistachio? I hope you got some rest. Is your bump really big now?

Hi all, thanks for advice re mattress etc. Something awful happened since I last posted; little boy approx 16 months across the road from us has died of cot death. I'm nearly in tears now typing this. He went same toddler group as Poppy a few times and I spoke to his mum if I saw her. I saw her the other day and hid in the car, just dunno what to say to her. She's a nurse, got a DD just started school.

Anyway, on another subject there's an outbreak of chicken pox at poppy nursery and I need some urgent advice. Poppy started with sniffles today and few sneezes, no spots yet, I've had CP but can I be a carrier? I'm supposed to be on a labour refresher course at hospital tonight and don't want to pass it on... What would u do? 2 cases already and another 2 appeared at nursery in last 24 hours, not
In poppy's room yet but she mixes with them.

Honeymoonmummy · 25/01/2011 15:41

Im not so bad at night with SPD pistachio, more during the day with me but not bad at m

Honeymoonmummy · 25/01/2011 15:43

Bloody phone - at moment. My worst prob at moment is constipation and piles Blush sooo painful, i'm in constant pain with it at the moment and not sleeping well at all as a result. SPD has taken a back seat!!

CantSleepWontSleep · 25/01/2011 15:46

Not a problem at all if you've had cp already hmm.

:( re the cot death. Please don't ignore the mother though. It will be hard enough for her without her feeling ostracised too. Just tell her that you are very sorry to hear of her loss, and that her family are in your thoughts.

StarExpat · 25/01/2011 17:06

So sad about cot death. If she's a nurse I'm sure she's aware of all precautions, new mattress and on back...etc. Scarier to think that even taking all precautions it can still happen :( there's me hovering over Q's bed not sleeping for the next several nights.

As csws says maybe say just a little quick something to her so she knows people care. How awful.

I thought you could still be a carrier even if you've had cp? Because you can get it more than once? I had it as a baby and then again at age 25. I know someone who had it at 2 and again at 11 as well.

They can't give you an antiviral and some throat spray at the very, very least, myjob? Or a painkiller? :( That does sound just awful. I'm so sorry you have to endure that.

Are you at least taking paracetamol/ibuprofen/asprin/something for pain to relieve it even a tiny bit?

Does a throat soother help at all? You poor thing. I really empathise. Sore throats really are the worst.
