found you!
I have never hoovered my mattress. There, I've said it Blush

StarExpat · 20/01/2011 20:29

Found you!
NEVER HOOVERED YOUR MATTRESS???? Shock Shock Shock

Grin

KSal love the title! Q says that all the time! It's his favourite thing to say.... Hmm

myjob I remember when DS was going through that and you were posting about it on here. That seemed like a really, really difficult time :( Is there nothing else that can be done or do children just have to go through it? How awful.

KSal · 20/01/2011 21:12

yes Star, i named it in Q's honour :) thought you'd like it. Although i do say it a lot myself (poor Emma... and DH Grin)

thanks myjob... i really hope it won't happen again, but she woke from her nap at nursery today very upset talking about one of the carers feeding her a big blanket. most odd. the carer in question was really keen to talk to me about it - think she was worried i might think it was true.

i have also not hoovered my matress. In fact my general standard of housekeeping would shock you to your core, Star!

Do most people not hoover their mattresses?

Yes, that would be worrying if a child accused their nursery worker of feeding them a blanket! Grin

StarExpat · 20/01/2011 21:35

LOL I posted that about "I said no" then realised that typically it is said by an adult...
Blush

Ekka · 20/01/2011 21:38

Don't think I've ever hoovered my mattress Star, (except to remove a HUGE spider, but it was only the area where the spider was!). We will be getting a new moses basket mattress, not sure about the cot mattress, I need to check out the washing instructions etc, before I decide!

My housekeeping would horrify you Star!!! Especially as it has gone downhill dramatically since I've been pg this time round as I'm struggling to do the most basic things - the dc have had fish fingers for tea the last two days as I've not had any energy left by teatime!

StarExpat · 20/01/2011 22:08

Fish fingers aren't so horrible, are they?

Hoovering mattress eliminates dust dustmites...etc. And supposedly if you don't Hoover it, you are at an increased risk for getting bedbugs! Confession time: once I read that bedbug fact, I haven't looked back.

Coconutfeet · 21/01/2011 09:24

Just marking my place.

I've never hoovered my mattress either...

Pistachio - Our bed is from Warren Evans. Lovely quality and the service was good too. Are they on offer at the moment? Because if not, it might be worth hanging on as their sales are usually very good.

KSal - I know how you feel about having no energy. I'm so ridiculously tired at the moment. I had a two hour nap with S this afternoon and am ready for bed again. I'm really hoping it's a good sign.

Dh took Q's baby clothes down from the loft and wanted to drop at a charity shop but I just cried and cried Blush. is have no problem giving them to someone I know... But for some reason I'm struggling with letting go not knowing where they will go! I give to charity regularly and I am in no way materialistic - I throw away stuff all the time and do not get attached to material items... So why is this???

No I am!!
I'd be happy to give them to someone I know...
Have calmed down now. Dh Has brought them all back to the loft once I sorted through them.

CantSleepWontSleep · 22/01/2011 21:46

I thought it was unusual for there to be no new posts on the thread Hmm.

star - Q has had some lovely clothes. I'm sure that J would be happy to have a few faves if it would make you feel better Grin. He's enormous though, so nothing for anyone under a year or a slim fit!

Talking of which, I need your address please pistachio. We sifted through the boxes in the loft this afternoon to find the newborn rainbowbabies stuff for you. There is 1 top and 2 pairs of trousers, rather than the other way round as I had thought. A yellow top, and chocolate brown and army green trousers. Obv you'll just need to bung a pink/fuschia top on with the trousers if you have a girl!

I am a total slattern, but have hoovered my mattress a handful of times (we've had it almost 10 years).

Fish fingers are fab tea. Actually mine haven't had them for a while so might put on the menu for next week sometime. It's doing all the veg to go with them that I struggle to find the time for. Life would be so much easier if we didn't need 5 a day Grin.

Ekka - I was thinking about you last night and wondering how your ds is doing with his allergies now? (this wasn't entirely random - I was eating some new vanilla frozen dessert that is free from dairy, gluten, soya blah blah blah).

What do you do when your child refuses his veg at evening meal? Tonight I just didn't bother Shock as it was late and he's always refusing at that time of day anyway. I made him oatmeal.

Do you Hoover it in case of bedbugs?

StarExpat · 22/01/2011 21:55

Csws all clothes are sorted by type not size but if I can bear looking through again I'll try to pull out some bigger ones! :)

I've been giving away baby stuff for a few weeks now, discovered that next door have just taken in a teen mum and newborn (they foster and are amazing) I hadn't realised as she's not been out yet apparently - but they were thrilled with a bouncy chair. their last foster placement were 2 boys a tiny bit younger than our DSs so they already have our boy stuff!
Soon their house will explode Grin

pepperrabbit · 22/01/2011 22:20

CSWS I have just realised that J is probably the same size as DD! I had to put her back in her 12/18 month stuff as she kept either falling over the trousers or they just fell down...
