I wouldn't bother pistachio. I'm watching it now and it's a load of bobbins really.

StarExpat · 12/04/2011 22:20

Csws what does the programme say? I'm doing schoolwork and mning so can't watch.

Honeymoonmummy · 12/04/2011 22:31

I thought it was quite good by the end, more balanced than I'd expected, except they showed a dad eating cornflakes with breast milk which was just unnecessary IMO.

CantSleepWontSleep · 12/04/2011 22:34

It doesn't really say anything much tbh star. There's lots about how the woman making the programme feels guilty because she got mastitis and it hurt and she gave up. And she's been to see some pregnant teenagers who said that boobs are for sex and showing off, so they won't bf. And they of course showed a token tandem feeder who was feeding a 5.5yr old and 3 yo. And really nothing more interesting than that.

StarExpat · 12/04/2011 22:35

That is odd - the cornflakes.

My last post meant to look more like this:
and mning
:)

CSWS that is a good summary and i agree with it. I rather liked the program overall.

Orin is running a temperature (creeping up to 40, so i am calpol and ibuprofen-ing him to keep it down). Anyone know how long a temp can go on for before i head to GP or A&E?

Also i have been sent a chain email type thing for sharing recipes. You are supposed to send it on to 10 people and send a recipe to the person at the top of the list (it is a list of 2). Would anyone be interedted in me sending this to them? I don't want to send it to anyone who doesn't want it... you can message me on fb if so...

sorry i haven't had too much time to read through... hope the holidays get better pepper!!

OP posts:
StarExpat · 14/04/2011 12:31

Ksal re the temperature... that depends on who you ask Wink.
If Q has a temp that won't go down for more than a couple of days I ring the GP. I know others let them go on for much longer. I don't know what the official advice is, though.

HavePatience · 15/04/2011 11:55

In just 20 posts, we'll need a new thread :)

StarExpat with namechange here. I'm trying this one on. I like it. It's something I must say about 2 million times per day between my young students and Q.

KSal · 15/04/2011 14:47

i think i will miss star :(

OP posts:
HavePatience · 15/04/2011 15:24

awww maybe I'll swap back and forth Grin

I'm the same person Wink

CantSleepWontSleep · 15/04/2011 16:43

I don't think I've ever done gp for temp. Does it come down temporarily with medication? Ours always have, even if not down masses.

I have been sent those recipe chain things a few times before, but have never managed to reply.

I can't cope with namechanging. I still think of cf as her old name. And I can't shorten you to HP - that's a fruity brown sauce!

Coconutfeet · 15/04/2011 17:53

Havepatience - that's definitely something I say to myself A LOT at work!

I've never been to the Gp with a temperature KSal but I don't think we've ever had one that lasted that long. I did ring NHS direct when S's temp was really high once though. How is he now?

Well, I finally got a negative pregnancy test this morning at the hospital. Got my period too, and I've never been so glad to see it. Also, did I say I had my appointment at the recurrent miscarriage clinic the other day? They basically sent me off for lots of tests (and DP had to go and have a blood test too) and I've got to go back in three months. She said that usually the results come back all clear and they're none the wiser, so I don't hold out much hope. I've decided to put all my baby/maternity stuff on ebay (except a few bags of clothes I've got stored at my mum and dad's). I think I need it all out of the house and, if we do get lucky, I'll just buy second hand.

Hope everyone's enjoying the holidays. I had a horrible moment when I went to collect S from nursery and they said "see you after Easter!". I had no idea that it was shut and had arranged to get a load of decorating done while he was there next week. Gah!

KSal · 15/04/2011 18:23

the fever has finally come down this afternoon to be replaced by a rash. it doesn't look like the normal post viral rash but i think it may be three day fever... either way it doesn't seem to be anything to worry about.

good news cf. I really hope you get some answers

Oh yes do still call me star :)

Good news ksal.

I hope your tests come back with answers. Can you ttc in the meantime? Or at least not use protection iyswim.

Coconutfeet · 15/04/2011 19:34

I wish I could have kept my old name but I had to change it once I came across someone I know on here and it would have outed me straightaway!

I think I have to be pragmatic, Pistachio. Although, it didn't stop me having a bit of a cry when I found out that someone at work is due three days before I my due date. Silly really - I'm actually really pleased for her but still it made me feel a bit sad. I think the fact that I'm trying to get things organised to put the flat on the market and will be getting rid of loads of stuff anyway is quite helpful. I always find a bit cleanout very cathartic.

Hope the rash passes soon, Ksal.

pepperrabbit · 16/04/2011 21:17

topsy-turvy day here.
Had a call to say my dad had been rushed to hospital after collapsing last night at home Sad. went to see him this morning, and he has cellulitis (sp?)
Looked very sorry for himself but seemed more perky than I was expecting. Anyhow, they've discharged him at his insistence so now my mum is terrified he'll collapse again at home.
Meanwhile we have a friend staying this weekend as he & DH are off to a beer festival tonight, so the children are all at 6s & 7s with grandad being poorly as well. No idea what state DH will be in when he gets home Hmm
I just feel exhausted now but a bit too wired to go to sleep.

Coconutfeet · 16/04/2011 22:18

Sorry to hear that Pepper. What a worrying time for all of you. I'm not surprised you're finding it difficult to wind down. What kind of treatment do they give? Is it antibiotics?

pepperrabbit · 16/04/2011 22:46

Yes, shed loads of antibiotics, he's on the strictest instructions to finish them all. What worries me more is they tested his sugars - he'd felt poorly all day and hadn't eaten - so at least 10 hours after food and he scored 7.5 Shock. He's overweight, smokes, leads a classic sedentary lifestyle (drives miles) so is a prime candidate for diabetes - chances of getting him to volunteer for a test are minimal..... shall have to use cunning and emotional blackmail Smile.
