Hmm I second ronshar - they don't "get" reward charts yet. Q gets it if he gets a sticker to wear or do as he pleases with but a reward chart means little to nothing to him.

Honeymoonmummy · 03/04/2011 21:31

I actually fed Dylan in Poppy's room tonight. We tried a v basic version of a reward chart and it went quite well ... Time will tell...

Stitches feeling bit better today so perhaps salt worked!

Typing with 1 thumb ... Thank god for auto correct

Honeymoonmummy · 03/04/2011 22:36

Sorry Myjob, I meant to say I'm so glad N was ok, how scary! You don't think about them choking at this age do you? I regularly leave Poppy eating on her own.

StarExpat · 04/04/2011 09:03

Glad stitches are better, HMM. And Blush I must be a really paranoid mother of a PFB because I worry about choking whenever I give Q anything to eat. I do leave him eating on his own at times, but I do worry about it. That may just be because I've had students in my class choke on food before (more when I taught a year younger) and was frightening when it happened.

pepperrabbit · 04/04/2011 10:12

Morning all,
Well, the boys haven't succumbed to the virus yet, DD is much perkier and not thrown up since Sat (touch wood) but I lost a whole weekend! This normally wouldn't matter, but it's DS2's 5th Birthday party next sat morning and I have done NOTHING since booking the hall and inviting the kids. And I mean nothing.... Haven't even got him a present.
So today I have to take DD with me to get everything you need for 25 children for 2 hours entertainment and food.
Pistachio - how is day one of the hols going??? I'malready dreading ours and we have DS2's birthday as a ready made activity for the first couple of days! (his birthday is mon 11th)
HMM How are you today? has DH gone back yet or do you have a couple more days?
myjob, how was your night, did you get another uninterrupted night?
Good luck at the dentist Ksal, CF did you actually get any trains for Mother's Day! What a lovely offer!
CSWS, ronshar & Star, hope you had a good Mother's Day.
Hope I haven't forgotten anyone - but if I have Wink
I have to go buy a new laundry basket. Don't ask.
Also does anyone have a good tip for getting dried on toothpaste handprints off the wall........? I suspect elbow grease and a nailbrush are required.
Have a good a day all.
Smile

Honeymoonmummy · 04/04/2011 15:18

I have to know about the laundry basket Pepper HmmGrin

HV came today,DS only lost 1.5 oz in 12 days so I'm a happy bunny Smile

I am out and about for first time today, only mothercare and Tesco hut still... It is 30 min drive from home so i'm sitting on a cushion! Blush Am currently in Tesco car park with DS who has been asleep since we came out at 1, DH has a shopping list Grin Got an ocado delivery this morning but I messed it up (1st time doing on iphone) and forgot nappies and pull up pants Blush

Picking up pops from nursery in an hour then off to see my dad for a bit. DH back at work on Weds Sad but at least I'm mobile again yay! Smile

KSal · 04/04/2011 16:15

so good news on the the tooth front is that they aren't going to take it out. Dentist basically said that he didn't think it had been pushed up far enough to cause damage to the tooth above, but its just a case of waiting and seeing. it may go grey and it may work its way down again...

main thing is that we don't have to do anything else at this stage.

just had an email from a really good friend at work to say that her and someone else are leaving. I'm so gutted... feel a bit trapped there due to the kids and mortgage. Guess I've got to go back and wait and see... just a bit worried that with these people gone the department will fall apart and i am one of those people who like their security.

Ekka · 04/04/2011 21:40

KSal, I'm wincing at the tooth incident - its one of my biggest fears as I'm really not good with teeth and dentists. I'm dreading the wobbly tooth stage, they make me feel queasy Blush. Good news that nothing needs to be done so far, though...

Pepper, oh no to the sickness. We had that bug two weeks ago, Matthew came down with it on Friday night then dh and I came down with it on the Wednesday, but dd escaped Confused. Ds was really ill, but since he recovered he's been sleeping much better, so I suppose it had some benefits Smile. I hope that J is the only sufferer in your household....

Myjob, I hope you get some more sleep. Tiredness can be absolutely crushing, especially if you've got used to some fairly decent nights.

Hmm, poor you and P. It is probably far harder for you than her! I know I felt guilty every time I couldn't go to dd because of ds, but tbh, you can't be everywhere at once and it is actually good for them to learn to share you. Dd and ds adore each other now and are really close. Doesn't make it any easier when you are at the beginning of things though - I'll slip in some

Ok, quick question - those of you who used slings with your dc, are there any you'd recommend? I'm not keen on the 'baby carrier' type, more the fabric slings. I had one which I borrowed from my sil and used with ds. but I've had to give it back for her new baby, so I need to get one myself and I'm thoroughly confused!!!!

StarExpat · 04/04/2011 22:05

Ekka - I used peanut shell. Fleecy one. It was brilliant :)
You wouldn't want to be in my age group teaching, Ekka! Kids constantly losing teeth. Today one child's tooth came out at lunch. He told me 2 hours later. I said, oh! I'll get you a tooth envelope! He said wait I just need to find it
Hmm
not in his pocket...
Hmmm where could it be?
Oh yeah! He almost forgot! He "let x borrow it for a while. He's in the class next door. Can I go get it?"
Other child had this child's tooth in his pocket. Took it out and handed it to him.?!?!
Ew

ksal great news about the tooth!

you see i have no idea what the stages of engagement mean either... so would probably have the same reaction as your DH!

both mine just hung back then launched themselves high speed at the exit a little early Grin not that Orin had much choice about it

OP posts:
StarExpat · 05/04/2011 09:44

Pistachio Grin
I distinctly recall asking that very question. Would it be possible for the baby to come out without labour? Among other silly questions...
It does still seem odd to me that a baby can spend that much time upside down and still be ok. It truly is a miracle.

Also - the boy with the tooth said "don't worry, it still has some of the blood on it, I didn't take it all off" Hmm gross. I had a lengthy chat with the two of them and then with my class about basic hygiene involving loose/fallen out teeth following that!

pepperrabbit · 05/04/2011 10:23

I'm laughing at the thought of there being babies all over the place that people hadn't noticed they'd delivered.. Grin

StarExpat · 05/04/2011 11:05

Hi all, I'm on my laptop rather than iphone for first time since birth, god it feels good to be back! Grin DS asleep on top of me, I'm going to put him in the moses in a minute and go for a bath.

Ksal, that must be a relief for you re the tooth.

Ekka, thanks for your kind words. I'm just about to purchase a Kari-me once I decide which colour to get Blush Seriously, I can't make a decision at the moment. I'm going between black and burgundy, black because I'm fat it's slimming and will be more discreet when BF (assuming I get the hang of BF in it) but then again if you can't see it's a baby carrier because of my mostly black clothes will I just look fat/ pregnant because it's TOO subtle?? I do quite like the aqua one too... seriously, this has been going round in my head since yesterday - can someone pls make a decision for me? Link is here Don't say the white one Grin

Pistachio, I was going to ask about your DD knowing about labour too! A woman has just given birth on the March 2011 thread with the baby's head poking out in the hospital lift so it can happen!! I think she knew about it though Wink I knew DS was taller/ bigger than Poppy becuase I just felt bigger and could constantly feel his bum pushing into my ribs and on the last day before I went into labour I could really feel him low in my pelvis - I had just done a 3 mile walk though! Got a great photo of my PG tummy with my and Poppy's hand on it actually taken the day before the night he arrived, one for the FB album when I get round to it. Re your DD Pistachio, Poppy got increasingly clingy to me during the PG too. I'll never forget when PIL brought her home after DS born, we left him inside and DH and I went outside to greet her, she just stopped dead outside the car because she must have realised I no longer had the bump and it freaked her out a bit I think. Bless her.

On the "weird things about PG/ labour front" - how the hell did I manage to get a labial tear anyway??? DH and I can't work out how that happened!! Can understand perineal tear (hopes noone is eating lunch)

Yesterday was DS's first weigh-in since birth, they usually lose weight in the first week don't they so HV seemed happy at only 1.5 oz loss in 12 days, he had just had two poops too Grin

Wow, mammoth post from me, guess you all wish I was back on iphone huh? Grin

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/04/2011 12:04

Just a quickie. Thread is running away without me!
Will try and respond to more later, but seconding pistachio's recommendation for close baby carrier. I have loved mine with both the boys. (and the woman who designed it is a local friend now too).

hmm - calm, fun or aqua. Don't you dare buy dull and boring black!

Honeymoonmummy · 05/04/2011 12:06

SadGrin

StarExpat · 05/04/2011 12:35

Honeymoonmummy · 05/04/2011 12:54

HMM, I've uploaded a photo on fb just for you. The blue basket couldn't take the pace.... (ignore DDs nose Blush)
Also, interestingly or not the handprints on the bathroom wall turned out to be sudocrem.... This clinches the evidence against DS2, who loves the stuff Hmm
