it appears I posted the last post... so here's a new thread

Hooray for DS, myjob! I'm not surprised, though. He is a clever little boy. :)

Q is still cutting this molar - or could be one above it now. Nothing on the right side, only the left. I thought this sort of teething was well behind us now!

Loving this warm, sunny weather!
I'd like to make flapjack but I want it to be the texture on one you'd buy in a shop. Like the tesco or M&S ones - those are lovely. Anyone with flapjack experience? When I make them they are hard/crunchy.

:( sorry to hear about ds' cough myjob. I think a bad cough can be so scary with breathing and especially if it's chesty, the worry of choking...etc. Do you have a humidifier on for him? Fresh air during the night always helps for us with croup as well (sometimes more than steam!).
Is it dry, croup, chesty?

Oh that is awful, myjob. When Q does that I Just wish he'd vomit and get the stuff out! Gross, I know...

So, Q is still not asking to use toilet but will go or try when I put him on and no accidents for a while now. He'll either hold his poo until night when I put a pull up on, do it on the toilet with no prompting when I've put him on for a wee (rare), or.... If I say he can have a "surprise" (when I KNOW he has a poo he needs to do), he'll 90% of time do one right then on toilet! But he can hold a poo in for so long it can't be healthy.

I'm finding ds' start at potty training hilarious! We're not actually trying to train him yet, but he's started using the potty at home, and running around these nice sunny afternoons without his bottoms on, and when he needs the potty, or is on it, he says 'wee wee coming', then 'I did it!' when he has a wee (or does anything much that he's pleased with himself for). Very sweet!

CantSleepWontSleep · 09/04/2011 23:04

and of course sympathies to all the sick peeps.

StarExpat · 09/04/2011 23:32

Awww sweet csws :) well done to D for getting started! He sounds like he's doing really well.

Q says "is it coming? Is it coming?" before a wee and "is it gonna hurt?" Hmm before a poo.

He uses questions a lot. I think because that's how we speak to him... Working on changing that. It's always "shall we play with trains?" "shall we go to the playground?" "are the sandwiches so yummy?"...etc.

Yes that's exactly it, pistachio. A recent conversation...
Q:"shall we get a treat?"
Me: "no, not now"
Q:"why not?"
Me: silent, but giving him "the look".
Q: "cause I'd like one please. Shall we go?"

Hmm
Honeymoonmummy · 10/04/2011 19:00

I've not read sorry about to do bedtime, DH and I both at end of tether, DS constantly rooting and crying if not feeding, I think it's silent reflux again. Have fed him constantly since 11 this morn except and hour in which he cried. He screaming now.

Honeymoonmummy · 10/04/2011 19:01

An hour. Will be back latrr

StarExpat · 10/04/2011 21:26

:( sorry HMM. No good advice I'm afraid, just a (((hug))) -a gentle one as you must be very sore.

I remember walking around with Q ALOT facing out upright pacing...
But I don't think he had reflux. I did use infacol for a bit for trapped wind... This is probably all unhelpful. Sorry

CantSleepWontSleep · 10/04/2011 21:33

Hmm - i know that it's really really hard, but his behaviour isn't unusual for a baby of his age, and doesn't necessarily signify reflux. In fact milk intolerance is actually more likely than reflux (Duncan took til nearly 3 weeks to display his symptoms, which were then full on).
May I suggest taking him to a cranial ostepath as a first point of call, partic as his birth was quite quick, and if that doesn't work then try going TOTALLY dairy free for a couple of weeks and assess his behaviour after that before you start seeking diagnoses or medication for reflux.

Ekka · 10/04/2011 21:47

Hmm, sorry to hear ds is so unsettled.... I've nothing to add to CSWS's advice, just a lot of sympathy.

Sorry to hear about all the colds. Ds has had a constant cold and horrible chesty cough since about January. We're off to the docs tomorrow to ask for another inhaler and discuss whether there is anything else we can do!

Loving the pt stories. Ds has been nappy free the last couple of days, but I'm not sure he's ready yet - he is terrified of pooing in the potty and unless he is bare bottomed doesn't use the potty at all. I think we may wait a little longer. Mind you, he was VERY proud of himself yesterday when he went to the potty unprompted and did a wee....

By the way, do any of you know anyone who'd be interested in a second hand Zoom double buggy? We don't need ours any more and I thought I'd ask around before putting it up for sale somewhere. Its now sold as the O'baby Zoom and is pretty big, so not likely to be useful in places like London Grin

StarExpat · 10/04/2011 21:55

:( Ekka I sympathise re the cough. We've found inhaler the only thing to work sometimes. Now that he's 2.6 we can be seen by a respiratory specialist because they will take asthma or other possibilities into consideration now Hmm
we had a pretty good winter (nothing like previous two!) when we were testing that plasmacluster machine for sharp with MN to see if it made a difference to children with asthma/suspected asthma. He only had the horrid coughs and got ill when machine was not working and when it was collected. We're back to wheezy coughs at night again turning to chesty mucousy coughs. Purifier + humidifier does help some, though...
I just get so worried when he's obviously having difficulty breathing.
Sorry for this ramble..... Blush

I'd second the cranial osteopath HMM, was a miraculous difference to DS1 who just screamed and screamed and screamed for the first 3 weeks. Even the MWs were Shock.
I was so grateful I'd have paid her anything she asked it made such a huge difference. He fed, all day every day as well. The MW would say "you're so patient!" Actually I was approaching homicidal...
He's nearly 7 now, so we did get through that bit Smile

StarExpat · 11/04/2011 21:00

Ohhh yes. Cranial osteopath! Really Helped Q as well. So much. Huge difference.

Aargh I can't keep up. Had a weekend full of both sets of parents and am now hanging on till the end of term. Only tomorrow to go. Hurrah!

I third he cranial osteopath suggestion HMM. We had one work wonders with S. It was definitely money well spent.

Sorry not to do any more personals. I hope everyone else is OK!

pepperrabbit · 12/04/2011 19:11

Argh. day 2 of the holidays and I'm at my wits end already.
I've had no voice for 3 days, which is cramping my parenting style, Ds2 is wildly over-excited and out of control as it's his birthday (yesterday), DS1 is wildly out of control as it's NOT his birthday and they spend their time walloping each other, shouting, bumping into people cos they're too busy walloping each other etc to notice anyone else.
DD has a hacking cough left over from this bug, and actually threw up before tea she coughed so much, all the cloths I use for such emergencies were already on the line, from her throwing her milk down herself at breakfast, filling up her booster seat base with milk .
Earlier, I had to give Ds2 an emergency shower/hose down following an unseuccessful wiping incident which coverdd his legs in poo, to discover AFTER this, that the shower has developed a leak and we had simultaneously flooded the bathroom.
Sad Angry Wine Hmm

Honeymoonmummy · 12/04/2011 20:49

Good to hear the hols are going as well as you expected Pepper.. Hmm Grin

Hi all, sorry about the wibble the other day, had a chat with the MW yesterday and she said newborns are just sometimes cranky. He still wanting to feed whenever awake but awake less yesterday and today so I feel more in control and able to do things ...must have been a growth spurt.

I hope everyone else is ok. I will think about cranial osteopath as his head is a bit lumpy but might wait another couple of weeks first, also need to find a CO cos don't want to go back to the one I used with Poppy, not sure he was really doing any good for her.
