Tree hope playgroup goes well. Sounds very lovely, its good when you have a good feel about a place and you completely trust the people who run it. DD's old nursery is like that... DS starts there for a few days a week on 23rd.

Tea Hope DD enjoys nursery. DD started the one attached to primary school in September and seems to like it, she really misses her old nursery though, so it took a little time to settle in.

Have tidied house for the millionth time... DS is having a nap in his big boy bed ! We took down the cot two weeks ago and he moved to Lily's bunk bed which has been going fine, but he has refused to nap in it...so today is the first nap for ages Smile Went to playgroup with DS and caught up with lots of people I haven't seen for a while, so nice to be getting into a bit of a routine.

Am now officially overdue!

bookmarking Smile - not a cumcumber in sight, hkz... [disappointed emoticon]

grim grey day here and i am fretting a bit about c's identification of herself as 'a bit shy'. she is, i guess, but every time someone says it it's reinforced, and today she was doing a puzzle with some sort of princess in it who has her hand in front of her mouth and she said 'a bit shy' and then 'a bit shy catherine'.

probably worrying about nothing.

anyway, best go and play with her, she's drifting around i na bored way. back later.

Can someone talk to me about clothing labels? I've just realised that I need them for DD's clothes for nursery and I haven't bought any. I've written in pen on the labels but the teacher who came to do the home visit today, says at PE time the kids just pile everything on the floor and they need to be well labelled. So where do I buy them from? Is iron on better or sew on? Help Shock

PatTheHammer · 10/01/2011 20:04

Just popping in on a cumcumber hunt...........

None to be found! Well done HKZGrin

Back later!

treedelivery · 10/01/2011 20:18

On dentist - well, she didn't scream. She got that if she went in and sat there she would get a sticker. Then she clamped her mouth like a vice Grin DD1 was a star as per usual and declared herself so not scared of the dentist Grin

So dd2 really enjoyed preschool, but her eyes - which seemed totally fine - flared with a royal vengence and she is in realy discomfort. I even thought of A&e about 5pm, when I caught her rubbing a plastic toy into her eyes to try itch them. Made me shudder.
She can't go tomorrow, so there goes my morning of bliss. Have the eye drops proper for dd2 now, so hopefully it will go down as quickly as it came up.

On labels, well, they are a bit of a thing of mine Blush
Sew in are traditional, like we would have had. Cash are the firm that have been going a million years. They are really robust and lovely, but a total pita to sew in. DD1 had red curly writing and a little cat. Awww.

Iron on are lovely as it's so easy to do. Get good ones, cheap ones simply peel off. You can lots of sizes and funky patterns, colours etc. These usually come in a pack, some for clothes some for lunchboxes etc.

You can also get ones that stick around the label of the clothing - which is mega easy but your child has to hunt the label. I'd rather the label was right there in the neckline so they have less to think about.

The easiest of the lot are ones that attach with a clip on to the tag. Very quick and easy. However, my dd1 would go mad if she had a little plastic tag, it would itch her. And again it's hunt the label.

My advice is whatever you choose - get shoe labels. If you have troubles getting socks to fit or like particular types, label those too with iron stretchy labels. My dd1 has come home in odd socks, a boys tshirt and had some other boys plimsoles in her bag.

There are lots of internet companies, I just ordered some from Stuck on You. I got dd2 labels for clothes, lunch boxes etc, and shoes. Lots of colours and pictures to choose from, which is great for dd2. She can't read her name, but should be able to soon know her hat has a cat label in. I also got a generic iron and stick on pack with my mobile number on, for both the girls. For coats, book bags, cardi's...all the stuff that goes awol at after school places and swimming pools.

Can you tell I like labels? Poor dd2 though, no traditional cash labels for her. I'll get her some for school probably

Cheers for new thread HKZ, I do think you should have had a cumcumber in the thread. Grin

Tea hahahhah at Aerosmith to Buble... now there's a wide spectrum of musical tastes. I hope that when it is time to put DD in pre-school, we get mornings to cause I was thinking, hmm, shuffle her off for a few hours in the morning, get her home, stuff her full of lunch, shuffle her off for nap for a couple of hours in the afternoon. Grin

Dentists and eye doctors... is it that time already?

Stripey No big deal I'm thinking if DC's are a bit shy. DD is incredibly social that it scares me a little TBH.

TreeTheLabelQueen..lol

Only sign of UG was right in the middle of dinner and as DH was off and we were enjoying Chicken Caesar Salad and Ratatouille was on tv, I didn't go there. When he brings the plumber down this week, I will talk to him. I'm dying to get it off my chest too as I have other, more important things to think about.

Fire inspection went great today, not much work needs to be done, just need to sort out the garage door as both entrances are behind it. Need to find someone to cut a hole in it, put in some hinges and padlock and off we go. But when you ring around to people to do it, its 'custom' work, so between $8000-$10,000 Shock. Its artist studios, it doesn't need to be posh. I'm sure I know someone who knows someone, etc.

Took the car in as well to have a look at what was making this unusual noise that as soon as I made the appointment, it stopped. They changed the drive belt, hoisted it, had a look at everything, test drove it, tis all good and didn't cost me a cent... they even gave it a quick wash. Love Toyota.

HKZ Nice new thread too... hope it killed a bit of time for you. I am a huge advocate of sex to induce labour... semen apparently has something in that will activate overdue-ness. Grin

hackneyzoo · 10/01/2011 21:03

About to settle down to One Born Every Minute, hope it gives this baby some ideas .

Got, glad the studio is all going good, how exciting...when will you be able to start using it? Do you need to find other artists to share it?

Tree, I bow to your label knowledge! Wow! I am just a lazy cow and write everything on with a marker...I know I won't be able to get away with that next year though.

Stripey C sounds very sweet. DD has a friend who was quite shy as a toddler, but has become less so since starting nursery and is very sweet and happy socialising.

Pat hope dsis and bil are doing well.

Lenni....come and tell us about the new job!!

Dog, hope J is on the mend and you aren't too knackered.

One born every minute has started gotta go and scare myself make notes

GotArt it gets worse, just been playing Lionel Richie stuck on you.

My 80's afternoon with DD was great fun, Alice Cooper, Robert Palmer, Europe, Bon Jovi to name a few... I love Rock music, hate drum and bass and things like that and I do like a little Pop like Buble, only a little though Grin

On Born Every Minute... what is this show?

DOG Ok... sort of laughing at DS being sick on sleeping DP... ok, who I'm kidding... LMAO! But am sincerely sorry too as that must be an awful thing to wake up to and poor little J too, but I'm sure he'll have a laugh when he's older and you tell him. And then to read on about DD. LMAO again and I have tears in my eyes. That is the best. I hope you took a photo cause that is definitely photo worthy.

Good grief, its snowing! Poor DH has to ride the motorcycle home. Feel like I should go get him... but crawling under covers sounds more better. Grin

hackneyzoo · 10/01/2011 21:42

Having said that I think I said fuck quite a few times during DD's labour and might have made a few quite loud demands for druggage!

Bookmarking. Knackered after got home at 2am last night, heating off so set up convector in our room, put wash on and then went upstairs to find smoke filled room - DS had stuffed a placemat in the convector at some point. Heater on fire, 3am by time smoke cleared and then 6am start for new job. Love it. Off to bed, no labouring tonight HKZ, don't want to miss it! Catch up tomorrow.

GotArt · 10/01/2011 21:43

An 80's afternoon for me would include, New Order, The Cure, Divine, OMD, Dead or Alive Run DMC, Beastie Boys and just a whole pile of singles of the like. Although, Alice Cooper was pretty cool too. And some Aerosmith... (goes to upstart 80's afternoon)

hackneyzoo · 10/01/2011 21:44

I also played Walk this way by Aerosmith that features Run DMC, great tune. I also played Will Smith's early 90's stuff as I love it Blush Oooo secret confessions now Grin

I never got round to Human League though and Boy George etc.

I'm now playing Billy Ocean, will you tell me to leave this thread and never return? Wink

Teaandcakeplease · 10/01/2011 21:48

Oh I forgot Van Halen, I played Jump which DD thought was fantastic! LOL

I have 4 older brothers so I also heard a lot of ACDC etc when growing up.
